also I know I’ve talked about it before but it’s insane how the pokemon world works if you know anything about caves + caving irl. like I know in the pokeverse caves are so big bc lots of them are canonically(?) formed by onix burrowing so there’s big rooms and tunnels you can actually walk through but not all of the little side paths that exist are like that. and yeah you’ve got pokemon to help you but again. little side passages and not everyone’s fuckoff massive mon is gonna fit in every space… also how dangerous it would be to set off earthquake or rock slide underground????? great way to collapse the ceiling on you. no wonder “rock smash” as an HM is specifically taught bc while lots of mons can smash through rocks with ease there’s a difference between careless destruction and selectively breaking only a small portion of something for traversal purposes without bringing down the earth on your head. like in Sinnoh there’s a whole underground - completely separate from the regular caves you dive into on the daily - that you can go down into and mine fossils n shit. also That’s Not How Volcanoes Work. sorry I’ve been watching caving videos on YouTube for the past 24 hours and it’s driving me insane with how many caves you traverse in the games and it’s just Fine. sure send out your monferno in a space where there’s barely room to walk and have it blast through a portion of some random wall and pray to god there’s no methane that needs igniting nearby.
