conquerors of shamballa is an insane movie man. like fma was like "okay here's a story about how a european government carried out a genocide, spun it as a war that was started accidentally, and then almost did it again" but the movie was like "nono that wasn't obvious enough here's one of the main characters in a nazi uniform"

#it hurts. i don't like everything about it. but i kinda like how its just like #'okay this is no longer subtext we're talking abt an actual genocide'#ik the parallel world versions of the cast aren't one to one but nazi hughes fucking. ouch.#but like also it drives home that. yeah mustang and hughes were active participants in a genocide #it's one of the things i prefer abt the 2003 series that 1. the state alchemists are shown to have a lot more of a hand in ishval #bc making the homunculi (and kimblee ig) seem like the sole actors felt a little soft to me #and 2. mustang is fucking HAUNTED by it. and it's hard to say that isn't like... deserved #you feel bad for the guy a little bit when he's unshaven and ridden with guilt considering suicide by human transmutation but like #idk. he's not a good person. i understand why ppl dislike him
