splatoon has such a sincerity to it that i think a lot of games lack it's such a love letter to art in a way that shines through every aspect of its presentation

the hip hop and street fashion of splatoon arent thoughtlessly tacked on because the developers think those things appeal to kids; the fashion direction came from the art team doing life drawing in the city. the music team so clearly has an actual love for hip hop and a solid grasp of its genre conventions

when something is so sincere and reverent it's incapable of being lame
