He is doing very well. He's relaxed. There's some insistent group level communication going on atm that may indicate preparation and collaboration of some sort. So preparing for a CB maybe? Just in early stages OR just in concept talks/being shown possible tracks, etc... this also has something acutely to do with the current situation of course, and I think there is some sort of group endeavor or effort to pull something off here. It's giving ragtag team but with good guidance.

He is doing Meh but is putting on a good face atm. What you will notice as we go through these individual reads is that he is not seeing something the others are- which leads me to believe that whatever this ragtag plan is, he has little to nothing to do with it and that is likely on purpose to protect him- but he may be feeling ostracized due to this bc he cannot contribute or be involved- likely for legal reasons. Since he is kind of just paying attention to how he feels left out, again- I love this 5 of Pentacles bc whatever cards you pull next to it tells the story. He is kind of a bit negative rn but failing to see that this is just the wheel turning its course- most likely into an upright position. Like he fails to see that everything is being set up for a good outcome and it is just taking time. Of course- he does know this deep down- but as we all have our emotional off days- he is just having that.

Anton

Knight of Wands + 3 of Chalices + King of Wands

So again- Anton has a similar vibe to Eunseok but just a lot more active and excited in a....young way. Like childlike. Very Aries coded. With the Knight there is clear intent towards moving forward to a goal, and this will be done in a gregarious group. Again- giving ragtag team. And AGAIN with the King popping up- they have good guidance (could be from the woman helping the. we speak abt often- whom I have mentioned Anton in particular looks up to a lot for support). Like Eunseok, he is in a good state atm. Very healthy and energetic.

This is VERY interesting. Your girl gasped when this popped out. The consensus is there is a lot of internal fishing being done to cut out what has been holding them back to mobe forward. Ofc- this Chariot does not pop out when I am reading for this situation unless it is specifically regarding OT7 Riize. I think there is finally a big enough shift in the higher ups perception of the situation to warrant serious talks. I pulled the 6 of Chalices for clarification on if this meant something good about Seunghan's return to the group- which is a yes. This is a nostalgic card. In this context I would say it is looking back on the past fondly...because it showed up in a pull with the chariot and hermit- it is "thinking of returning to the past". It's a very positive omen and very powerful energy due to the 2 major arcana here.

See this is interesting again. This confirms the earlier pulls for Eunseok and Anton. Right now someone at the forefront is running the show like crazy. This is the busiest they've ever been because things are beginning to produce results in the physical realm. I pulled 6 of pentacles to clarify about the producers and songwriters who were suddenly viewing and liking stories- to clarify is this was a part of the plan, which I would say that yes it kiiinda is but not specifically- it just ended up that way in a broad sense. It is like those people extending their support quietly.

SMTOWN Concert

Some people were asking about what to expect during the SMTown concert. This is very "two sides of a coin" to me. We have the women facing each other in the 9 of Pentacles and the Tower. One is satisfied and the other is devastated. The one who is devastated may be louder or just more jarring and disruptive. This is indicative of our current situation within the fandom, I think. Either side will feel like a winner or loser. I pulled the Queen here to ask which side it would be- and I personally view this as the OT💩 side because the Queen of Swords is a card I have pulled for them before in my reading where I did "how Riize feels abt OT💩 vs OT7" and when the queen is in her negative state she is needlessly ruthless and unempathetic- causing a lot of harm to others through strategic plans and foul self serving intentions. So there is that. I think the event will bring a lot of divisiveness if anything at all, even if it isn't OT💩 vs OT7.

This is kinda reiterating what we know from the reading. There is some kind of group effort for push through and persevere here. It's feeling like a reunification of sorts. The effort to show how successful it is has been very positively received by the intended audience (SM higher ups and C5) to the point where pushback is very minimal. It is more about laying the groundwork and coming up with a plan all can agree to in order to proceed without letting the same things happen yet again. One thing SM will not allow- is for the same thing to happen where they have to be embarrassed the same exact way. Their pride has been hurt too much for that to transpire again. So they will reatreat inward and thoroughly ensure to double down no matter which path they choose.

some things that are happening rn 🦈 (since i’m not posting anymore, just wanted to generally update again, and maybe you guys can suggest some topics that i can cover)

i still have to channel my subconscious, i wanted to ask them what are my blockages now but i procrastinate bc i have zero motivation, i really need something to make me wanna do it.

i think there’s a trickster impersonating my deities and that is taking my energy. i started having nightmares (which is unusual for me now), my tarot cards are very confusing and opposing each other and giving me lots of negative cards and usually the devil is always there, then i have this strange feeling that i am not talking to my deities, and i feel kind of drained and unmotivated. this started when duchess astarte (astaroth) reached out to me so i’m not sure what to think. i’ll have to banish it if it keeps going this way.

i always had this feeling that i have a curse on me because of so many reasons, then i looked on the internet what are the signs and i find myself in literally everything. so i did a reading and i got confirmation which was not surprising, apparently it was an ex friend of mine that did it intentionally but i have no idea who that is. i asked astarte if she could help me and she accepted so i did a spell to remove the curse and be protected, which i think will work soon, i feel like i just have to wait a bit.

my current dr is still marauders/hogwarts but i’m feeling really nostalgic of my avatar dr, that place felt like home like no other dr i shifted to. i will probably shift there in summer or even spring since those seasons reminds me so much of pandora. can’t wait :(

i’m still manifesting my ideal life. i made a vision board and a script with a list of things i want, and i’m trying to keep a wish fulfilled state. i’m still luckily in a “god” mentality such as that i know i’m the creator of this reality, so it’s pretty easy for me to ignore the 3d now. it’s just that sometimes i still feel somewhat anxious that “what if i won’t manifest this?” which is normal, but i try to keep the right mindset. plus all of my deities are really hyping me up telling me that if i really just persist this time i will totally manifest it all in no time, i’m basically already there, and they seem so sure about this and i am too ;)

IM GOING TO THAILAND IN FEBRUARY AAAAA, i’m so excited bro istg i really am looking forward to this. i’ll be staying for two weeks so for that period of time (9th feb to around the 23rd) i won’t post anything, but it’s not really sure i mean maybe if i have some news or new ideas and i have free time then i might post, who knows.

What 9-5 job gave you the ability to have 8 hours to do whatever you wanted? Unless you only sleep like... 6 hours a night, tops? Which is fair. You're in Europe, right? Maybe those jobs are a little nicer in Europe than in the US?

I wish my 9-5 gave me that. It's an hour commute there and back. And I have to wake up at least 2 hours early to get ready to leave on time. And assuming I don't have any errands to run, I'm back home at 6pm at the absolute earliest. I've got about 4 hours, which usually have to be taken up by chores or making food, with no time for anything else.

The 9-5, 5 days a week, SUCKS. And studies have shown that people are only productive 4 hours out of an standard 8 hour work day. They've got to fill up the rest of those hours making themselves look busy so they don't miss out on hours, and thus money.

Lol yeah, you got me during a workweek I tend to get 6 hours a night, tops, and I'm someone who gets out of bed 15 minutes before leaving the door. I was in the states for this, however this 9-5 was like. Exceptionally wonderful, I got paid to be a historical interpreter, chat to guests, and learn how to work with leather, and I am WELL aware that the next job I get will probably not be half so fun and I might not live a walkable distance from work or have as lovely coworkers. I am simply nostalgic bc last summer felt like a dream and this summer I am in the last, very intense stages of a masters, and am working 6 days a week and also having to do school work and apply for jobs when I get home. I love my masters and the work I'm doing is actually all really useful stuff I enjoy but I can't wait til the final push is over. If someone handed me some waxed flax and some deerskin and was like "here you go champ :) spend the day making a pair of leather breeches" I might start to cry lol.

So yeah a lot of my longing is bc of my own specific situation, I am well aware that 9-5s can be really shitty depending on your work environment, however that's literally every single job, and for me personally the element of "just work at work" is so much nicer than school or being your own boss. Plus the regular schedule and always being off the same two consecutive days a week is so much better than other jobs I've worked where it's always up in the air.

But anyway obviously I am not saying everyone has to be happy at 9-5s I am just sick of the "every single moment you don't spend on your assignments is guilt time and you always feel like you're falling behind" vibe of school. 40 hrs a week sounds like a Dream rn

URGENT (not really, medium urgent)

Im writing a script for a (kinda long) short film and I am desperately searching for music that is anywhere near the tone of the script but unfortunately YouTube and even spotify don't know how to sort genres correctly (fuckin bonkers. What do you mean THE MUSIC APP doesn't know how any genres and doesn't know how to put together playlists that are what they say they are!!!)

The general idea of the script is that we're watching a kid grow up (starting at abt 5, kindergarten age) until they're about 18 (not sure about that, might have it end a couple years after, I'll get to it). It's going to be a bunch of snapshots of this kid's life as they grow up, put into sections marked by birthdays! It's (planned to be) filmed in a very home made way, as if a parent is recording these snapshots of their kid so they can all look back on it later.

The general tone is gonna be happy, there will be some sad parts in the actual film but those aren't the main point. Any of me talking abt making the viewers sad is more "make them sad bc they're seeing this life go by so fast". Like how people (me) cry at slideshows of random moments in a kids life leading up to a big event...

Oh I learned French too in highschool! It was honestly COMPLETELY USELESS BAHAH like now I just remember the names of certain fruits lol and I can understand how difficult it may be to see your students struggling so it’s can kind of difficult to not correlate that with how “good” of a teacher you are. Especially since you just want them to be successful in general and see them flourish! But I’m sure you’re not horrible! The fact that you are actively TRYING and not blaming the student is already more than enough! That in itself is already so helpful and yeah it will be difficult learning no matter the language it’s in but I’m sure you’re a great support system for all your students!!!

I was also obsessed with the 1920s! If I could go back to school, I think history would be up there. I'm fascinated by it. I feel like everyone goes through a 1920s phase--like a right of passage.

One my first stories to break 100 notes on here, actually (it's on the garbage section of my blog so I wouldn't recommend reading it) was my "first big break." It was set in the 1920s. But at the time it was like super exciting and important to me. I think I reread it not too long ago and I think it's cute still, but very cringy. You can tell I wrote it when I was without a lot of real world and/or relationship experience and only read Sarah Dessen in my free time. I would love to do it over though. I have a mob/1920s vibe sort of story on my list of things to write in the future. So we'll see! 😊

I used to devour books. Then in high school/college the perfectionist in me just stopped and deemed the time too important to be reading for fun when I had scholarships to apply for and a degree to earn. I've got like 40 unread books on my shelf staring at me daily. But like I mentioned, I got back into the swing of things this year so hopefully I can narrow it further over the coming months. I would get married in a Barnes and Noble probably--it's one of my top 5 favorite stores and I would say my toxic trait is I can't leave without buying a book. I'm sure you'll get back to reading when you have the time. School is important and your brain only has so much time to handle everything.

I love it out East here. tbh, I don't think I could ever live anywhere else. I'm not sure if you saw my playlist thing (I wouldn't expect you to notice it) but I'm on a Noah Kahan kick rn. Several of his songs are about growing up in New England and it's like nostalgic even though I live here. Idk, it's like someone read my mind and put it in a song. It's magical.

That brain cell of ours working overtime being the mom of our friend groups. I remember in college it felt like a second job keeping everyone on track and I agree, I couldn't even help it! They were adults but it didn't feel like they were adults.

this book is so entertaining bc i already saw spoilers for the feng xin/jian lan/cuo cuo reveal and yet i could never have predicted the circumstances that brought it about. imagine being feng xin. the heavens are in an uproar and your only friend/enemy has been jailed for possible fetus spirit-related crimes but he escapes along with this female ghost who keeps causing problems. you figure “fuck it lets see if dianxia kept his old phone number” and he has but then he hangs up on you. you’ve got fuckall else to do so you go find him. mu qing is there but he’s in his disguise the two of you were using so you could watch over his highness while staying aloof. you think you see hua cheng only he’s a chiild for some goddamn reason but who knows at this point. the female ghost is also there and theres a fetus spirit climbing trees and biting your arrows in half. you realize the female ghost is your ex and the little demon is your son. it bites you. what do you do

Great stuff!!! I love it when people with actual history knowledge add to this post, bc it really was just an off-the-cuff thing I wrote in a handful of minutes after going “hm the corset scene I wrote in Feilan was really stupid in retrospect.” I will add in mild defense of the costumers: they were college students, so I’m not sure they had the most experience or access to the highest quality materials. My understanding is that they did quite a lot of research, and this opera was at a VERY highly-acclaimed university for the theater arts (which our program mooched off of lol), but college students are still college students and I wasn’t in the designer’s room. :) I know most of the weight was courtesy of some very thick fabric used in the skirt, which to me almost felt like curtain fabric in a few places (though it was probably lighter than that! it’s been a while, hehe). I also have to wonder, looking back with a few years’ hindsight, if they didn’t exaggerate what they told me it weighed somewhat—I could believe 45 pounds, but I could also believe 15-20, I have never had the best sense for how much things weigh. I gave the costumers credit for that stat but I never had the chance to weigh the dress myself. I do know it was quite heavy! But the experience of carrying the weight doesn’t feel uncomfortable or like you’re carrying something, just different than usual. It takes some getting used to.

BOY can I attest to how these gowns overheat, though, by the way. Stage lights, for those of y’all who’ve never been in a theater production, are incredibly hot. It gets sticky wearing normal modern long sleeved clothes sometimes, the gown was… let’s just say the laundry crew on that production was doing the lord’s work.

For bonus tangent, and because it’s been 3 years and I’m getting nostalgic on this reblog… here is what the gown looked like in action!

This photo was taken at the dress rehearsal, and lace was added to the ends of the sleeves in the final version of the gown. They also had me ditch that tiara because it kept randomly falling off during one of the more dramatic ending scenes. I make no claims as to how accurate the dress truly is to any given period in history (I know the designers took some liberties with accessories and probably some other shit for aesthetic), but as far as ball gowns go, I think they did a great job making something that was pretty and fun to run around in.

Things about wearing ballgowns that your research might not teach you

Inspired by my experiences in the opera I’m starring in right now, in which I wear a big ol’ Baroque-style ballgown that I was NOT prepared to deal with. I felt like writing some of this stuff out might be helpful to other writers since we all adore pretty dresses and being particular about random details. If your character wears a big fat ballgown on a regular basis, they’ll be used to most of these things and might not even think about them, but it’s worth remembering this stuff on our end! I’m firmly convinced that part of Cinderella’s magic makeover was a time-stopped tutorial on how to survive wearing one of these things. 

I’m not gonna go into detail about basic stuff that you can learn from Google, this is more about the physical experience of the dress, so like… don’t take my word as gospel. Just take it as an interesting perspective, that might prove useful if you’re hoping to write that fancy ball scene or (BIG OOF) dressing a character in one of these outfits who’s not used to wearing one. 

Despite what the YA writers tell you, corsets are actually pretty damn comfortable when they’re adjusted correctly! Like, they’re better than bras, they make your boobs look great AND they don’t have itchy underwires. There have been a few periods during which lacing corsets ultra-tight was trendy–the Victorian era where fainting was considered fashionable comes to mind–but that doesn’t apply to all of fashion history. 

My experience with corsets is that they limit your range of motion at the waist, you have to lean over at the hip instead, but you end up with great posture. Plus they can do wonders for your figure, depending on the style. 

Corsets can be laced up to suit your needs! Fashion may be fashion, but if you’re writing a fictional character in a gown who still needs/wants mobility, they could always have their attendants lace them to a looser setting. They don’t have to be restrictive. There are a lot of things preventing my mobility or breathing in this gown but the corset isn’t one of them. 

Depending on the fashion, your sleeves might limit your range of motion a lot. Synthetic modern fabrics are a gift, and we tend to take for granted how freely you can move your arms in a lot of modern clothing, but older or heavier fabrics will prevent you from doing certain things if they’re tailored closely to your body. Don’t expect to always bend your elbows particularly far, or raise your arms above shoulder height. 

In many gowns, you can do this, and you should be able to, but it’s not a automatic given.

The biggest challenge to moving around in a big ballgown isn’t the corset, it’s the skirt itself. Hoop skirts are HEAVY. According to my costumer friends, the gown I wear in the opera weighs in at around 45 pounds–as much as some Medieval suits of plate armor! That weight is concentrated in the skirt, which has 5 or 6 layers of material. You can easily research what those layers are, but no amount of Google prepares you to actually carry them on your body. You’ll mostly hold this weight on your hips and waist, where the skirt attaches to the rest of the outfit. It’s not actually that uncomfortable, it’s just a lot of stuff in the way of your usual movement. 

Also, I mean, it’s a big heavy skirt with lots of pretty layers that reaches all the way to the floor. It’s easy to accidentally step on it if you’re not careful, or if you’re moving too fast. 

Dancing in a ballgown is surprisingly strenuous, it’s why a lot of those fancy court dances don’t involve a lot of movement beyond basic small steps. You get sweaty fast, and your feet get tired. 

You can run in a hoop skirt, but you’ve gotta grab it like you see Cinderella do in the movies, and you can’t be gentle about that. You have to reach all the way through the layers and grab the hoops underneath the rest of the skirt. They can be tricky to find, and if you’re dainty and gentle because you’re scared of hurting the dress then you might never get a hold on one. 

Re: that last point, hoop skirts are basically giant suction cups. The more layers, the more suction. If you kneel down on the ground in one of these babies, it’ll be tricky to stand back up! Sitting in a chair may also have this effect, but it’s not nearly as intense, you’ll usually be okay. In order to counteract the suction effect, it helps to get a firm hold on one of the hoops in the skirt and lift it up just before you stand–this way, air can get in underneath you, and you won’t be stuck down. 

I’m not kidding about the suction. Seriously. I almost face-planted in my first dress rehearsal because I had no idea that the costumers were that serious. 

When you stand up in a ballgown after sitting or kneeling, it also helps to lean backwards. It’s counterintuitive, but the skirt is heavier in back than in front if you’re wearing a bumroll, so you’ll have an easier time if the front comes up first. 

You cannot put one of these on by yourself. You cannot put one of these on with only one person helping you. You’re gonna need at least two people to get all the layers of skirt on over your head, and one of them will also have to know how to lace up your corset. 

On the dressing end: lacing a corset is harder than you think it is. Even if you’re lacing it up loosely for flexibility or breathing room, you need a bit of force. You can’t be a wimp about this. Think about lacing a boot, you can feel inside the boot that it’s still not tight enough on your foot but you’ve gotta put muscle into the shoelaces to get them tight enough. 

Spinning Cinderella-style in a ballgown is basically mandatory. It’s actually good for the skirt, if anything gets wonky while you’re sitting or adjusting yourself then a good spin clears it right out! This is a justified opportunity for costume porn. 

You won’t fit anywhere. This should be obvious, but again, double down on your assumptions. A normal-sized door will not accommodate you. Palace hallways are the size they are for a reason. A suitor who wants to hold your hand will need to either stand inside your skirt or wait for you to extend your arm allll the way out. Hugging someone in a hoop skirt may knock them over. 

So yeah! Don’t take any of this as gospel, this is just my personal experience with wearing period costume, but a lot of this stuff never occurred to me when I was writing my own fancy ball scenes and it would have changed a lot of my writing choices. Feel free to add on with your own experiences or correct me if I’ve mis-described something! :)

had a vivid dream of caryl kissing last night so i am very sad to be waking up, but i’m having feels rn and i just wanna puke thoughts

‪daryl repeatedly told carol to fight for “our” future and to not let alpha take it away bc the future daryls been fighting for had carol there with him on the bike to new mexico. carol not opening up to him yet is pushing them apart hence daryl saying to judith, “nothing makes up for someone u love being gone”‬. his future is looking a little blurry bc he feels he’s losing carol and i think that fits in well with how he acted last episode, kinda nostalgic but off alone in the woods, like he’s reverting back to s2 daryl kinda.

carol took a step in the right direction when she realized she needed to come home bc she didn’t want to lose daryl/her fam and it’s symbolic that they didn’t hug for the first time at those gates. they’ve got some talking to get thru- a serious, no bullshitting heart to heart, and it’s rly up to carol to go to him. considering she’s already gone to kelly to talk about connie and have built this idea that carol’s “righting her wrongs”, i think the biggest moment for her mental recovery will be talking to daryl. whether this happens in the finale or the premiere, i think we’re definitely getting something big like this for them at some point soon.

it’s obvious what the writers have going on. caryl hasn’t ever had a big rift like this and they’ve been dragging it out since 10x09, (maybe even since the premiere when daryl was already noticing carol acting different.) if this was just a little blip in the TWD story they would’ve resolved caryl’s feud a few episodes ago. yes, maybe it’s just circumstances bc there’s 5000 other stories trying to be told but I think they’re saving the “climax” (however u wanna interpret that ;)) of this story for a finale/premiere bc it’s BIG for caryl. not only does it mean they’re gonna make up and hug like they usually do, it’ll be a lottt different this time. i think they’re finally gonna be honest with themselves about their feelings and what they want for this “future” bc i think they’re both ready for it by now.

anyways, personally i don’t think there’s gonna be enough time in the finale for this big conversation we’re all hoping for. it sucks so bad but there’s just so much going on. but i do think there’s either gonna be a moment where they kinda look at each other scared before going out into the horde, maybe daryl taps his acorn by his heart, just something short but enough to remind us that caryl is still afraid to lose each other. then if they all fake die or if one of them gets a fake death, this is gonna be the wake up call for this conversation in the premiere/coming eps. it will be STRAIGHT from the heart, completely unfiltered and really fuckin beautiful and I’m okay with waiting for it, it just sucks that we have to wait a possible 2 hiatuses for it. but we’re definitely getting it at some point, so let’s just keep our heads up and take it a day at a time. we’ve been thru these waits there’s no reason to stop at a time like THIS when we have a show runner who’s a blatant caryler.

2. what would you most like to do if you had 4 hours to explore a strange city?

eep! i would go to where there’s plenty of nature like gardens or the beach and just sit and admire and people watch, and then go to a cute cafe and try the local specialty and then just wander round the city without any particular destination just to Absorb It All

3. do you think classic literature is overrated? 

some of it, yes definitely! i just reread jane eyre for the first time in years and i was... very underwhelmed. and also icked out at the age gap and how awful mr rochester is?? but i digress! i feel like a lot of classic literature is very beautifully written but is also very grim and not all that accessible so i’m personally not a huge fan. that said, pride and prejudice (and jane austen in general) is one of my all-time faves so ~

4. if you could learn any three language instantly, what would they be and why?

okay so i already speak arabic and french, but my arabic is nowhere near the level of fluency i want it to be, so i would love to just,,, know it properly?? (ps if anyone wants to chat arabic with me pls let me know i miss it so much!). spanish bc i’m currently learning it on duolingo but my best friend is spanish and it is important to her, and i just love spanish music and i would be able to learn so much more about culture and communicate with so many people and and and ~ hmm maybe russian? i think it’s such a cool sounding language and the alphabet fascinates me! (so many languages, so little time!!)

5. what is the best gift you have ever received?

oooh there’s definitely one i’m blanking on but the one in my heart rn is my friends throwing me a surprise party when we were all at uni and it was so unexpected and not usually my thing but it was the loveliest afternoon and i got to spend time with all my favourite people and it makes my heart happy to think about it and means the world that they planned it so carefully *cries*

6. what’s a story that sets your heart aflame when you hear/read/see/experience it?

WHAT A QUESTION wow, okay my mind has gone blank but any kind of found family story makes my heart SING because that is The Good Shit right there, and exactly what this smol lonely queer craves. the last story specifically that made me !! was red white and royal blue bc MY GOD

increasingly i’ve become one of those people that seeks them out?? which i don’t love for me tbh? i always used to hate spoilers and then i think infinity war happened and something shattered inside me lol!

that’s so nice! I love him already, I used to have a dog that looked super similar to him and they were so sweet (they’re not dead dw, they just live with the person who gave them to us in the first place now bc we were kind of just fostering them) I do have cats now though and they are the loves of my life

I have a terrible memory of what I was going to say but I think I might start The Henna Wars! Story graph said it was lighthearted? I kind of doubt it will be through whole book at least bc of the content warnings on it but I’ve wanted to read it for a while now so I decided to go ahead w/ it and just take a break if anything gets to be too much.

I started reading more books again this year and I really am happy abt that bc books kind of make me feel like I get to go on all of these adventures and experience the character’s lives and stuff when I wouldn’t really get to do that as myself, at least not all of it so it makes me feel like I’ve lived more than I have in a sense? Not really longer just like with more adventures ig. bc I can’t really necessarily go on like an adventure through space rn but i can pick up a book and feel like I have (I hope this doesn’t sound super sad, my friend thought I was sad abt this a few years ago but I just really enjoy the feeling)

i hope you still get to see the dog that you were fostering 🤍 i posted this on twitter tonight inspired by our conversation earlier! i’m super jealous that you have cats; i love cats, but i’m ridiculously allergic. normally in not-covid times, i’ll go to the cat cafe near where i work or get my cat fix from going to my friend’s apartment! one of my best friends here in seattle has two cats, dana and diana and i love them both very much. another friend of mine is getting a cat this weekend -- i’m so stoked for her. what kind of cats do you have?

i also got back into reading more this year; i used to read a lot too, but i’ve never really been on litblr or book twitter or anything of that sort, so it’s been really fun to find a community on here that also has a shared love of books! and i agree, being able to follow these characters and their journeys is so fun - and sometimes cathartic. it’s not sad at all! 

some of my favorite books include: red, white & royal blue by casey mcquiston, the starless sea by erin morgenstern, the night circus by erin morgenstern, they both die at the end by adam silvera, and the crazy rich asians trilogy by kevin kwan. some books i’ve read recently that i really loved, but i’m not sure if i’d call them a favorite yet ( i usually don’t call books “favorites” until after i’ve reread them at least once ) are the last story of mina lee by nancy jooyoun kim, with the fire on high by elizabeth acevedo, and love from a to z by s.k. ail! with movies, i’m not so much a movie person - it’s really hard for me to focus on them, so i don’t really watch a lot of movies unless i’m watching it with a friend or family, but my favorite film of all time is roman holiday (1953)! i also loved (no surprise) crazy rich asians -- i think it was a really well-done adaptation! some of my other favorite films include: little women (2019), once (2007 ) and set it up (2018). for sentimental reasons, i also have a soft spot for already tomorrow in hong kong (2015) - i grew up in hong kong and it just makes me really nostalgic!

Who is your favorite character in 2?

i feel like i gotta say leif bc he's my icon and i love mtg A Lot. and it wouldn't be wrong, i definitely think leif is my favorite from the show. but i do love zoey too, i have to admit. she's a very close second. (and she would be #1 if i didn't love hot villains so much, lol)

Who is your least favorite character in 1?

can i say isobel? i feel bad saying isobel but i guess with all the possession stuff in s1, i just felt i couldn't like her, especially before we found out about the possession stuff and i thought it was a dual personality thing. i haven't started s2 so maybe she'll grow on me in those eps.

What is your favorite episode of 4?

ughhhh they all really blur together. i mean, not in a bad way, but they were really so closely tied to one another - i guess episode 5, "middle school musical". it was sweet seeing noah and simon supporting amara, and i felt it was a good episode to represent disabled people. i mean, it really shined a light on the way society treats them, and it ended up with said disabled lead amara finally getting her time to shine. who knew she could sing so well?

What is your favorite season of 5?

it's only got the one so far, lol. so i guess i have to say that's my favorite for now, but it probably won't be for long with s2 focusing on a production of batb

Who is your favorite couple in 3?

they're not canon (yet) but geralt/jaskier. obviously. let the bard be gay for the hot monster killer!

can i just say leif/tobin to avoid any sort of controversy? so... leif/tobin. (the coder boyfriends!)

Who is your favorite actor in 4?

jace chapman is an excellent child actor. he particularly shines in the scenes where noah is experiencing intense anxiety. they're so similar to how i feel/act/think when i'm anxious, so i was really able to see myself in the character. i have to say, i do love larisa oleynik and tom everett scott too as noah's parents. they're fun, cute, and dorky without seeming incompetent and they really do have noah's best interest at heart. it was really sweet to see and i almost wish they could be my parents, lol. (though i also think they're pretty as hell so that probably wouldn't work out for me, haha)

Which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?

apples and oranges, man. like, one's a cheesy teen drama, another is a heartfelt musical dramedy, and the other is... well, a teen dramedy? okay, so there are some similarities, but it's hard for me to choose. i can say that zep is the one i enjoy most right now, just 'cause it's such a feel-good show to watch with everything going on in the world right now, but overall? i might have to say hsmtmts, just 'cause i really feel so attached to those characters/that world as a whole (even if the pacing of s1 got a little messy at times).

Which show have you seen more episodes of - 1 or 3?

roswell, new mexico. ironically, though, i really need to play catch-up on both. i now have several s2 eps of rnm to watch, and the second half of witcher s1!

If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?

i literally am noah, let me just put that out there. like i relate to him so much, he's basically me when i was his age, just i'm a girl and he's a boy. i guess if i had to pick a character to be, maybe amara? bc she's a friend of his so she gets to kinda see things from the outside and help him out when he's struggling. (though poor girl is also pining for him hard, ugh, tween love is so messy. i never had a legit crush on a boy till i was 14, so i'd probably be safe in that regard.)

Would a crossover between 3 and 4 work?

wow i really mixed up my own numbers here and started writing about a witcher/zep crossover, whoops

hell no. witcher is a bloody adult fantasy and healing powers of dude is a sweet kids' show. a crossover would never work. (though now i'm thinking about jaskier and geralt being father figures for lost orphan noah and i'm emo. it's such a crack-y concept but i like it lol)

Pair two characters in 1 that would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple?

from what i can remember in s1, michael & liz had a fun dynamic. sort of a love-hate thing (as opposed to her and max which was nothing but love). i think they'd make an interesting pair. especially given the end of s1, as they'd bond over their shared grief over max.

What is your favorite episode of 1?

pffft i don't know. i almost wanna say the pilot, just bc it was the first scripted show i'd started watching after, like, a whole semester of barely watching anything, and it also brought me back to the cw after i quit watching the flash. plus, i obviously didn't really know what to expect, so i was impressed with the way the show got me invested in both max/liz and michael/alex in the span of one 42-minute episode.

What is your favorite episode of 5?

i also gotta say the pilot bc it was probably the funniest episode, in that it felt the most like some sort of self-aware mockumentary comedy, and the end cover of "start of something new" made me super nostalgic for the original hsm film. both of those elements kinda faded as the show went on and we got so invested in the characters, so, yeah. it was fun while it lasted.

What is your favorite season of 2?

it's only got the one, so again, that's kinda the only one i can give as my answer? but hopefully it gets renewed for at least a second 👀

How long have you watched 1?

it premiered in... like january, i think, of last year, so... since then. like a year, though as i keep saying, gotta play catch up on s2.

How did you become interested in 3?

henry cavill. yeah, that's it. he's hot and it was his first major project following the rumors about him being out as superman, so i wanted to see what it was all about. also, considering it's netflix, i was kinda hoping we'd see his ass, but apparently we do not. netflix can give us pine penis but not cavill ass. Sigh.

Overall, which show had the better storyline, 3 or 5?

i guess hsmtmts bc it kept me the most engaged? but it was also not bingeable, so. kinda hard to accurately compare the two. but i guess that's my answer, bc witcher was kinda confusing at times (and i haven't watched it since like late december/early january)

Which has better theme music, 2 or 4?

neither really has an official theme song, unless you count the music that plays over the title card at the beginning of their respective episodes. i guess i like the matching band sound of hsmtmts', but they're both so short to compare to one another.

if you ask me to compare soundtracks, i might also have to give an edge to hsmtmts just bc of the nostalgia factor and their amazing original songs. sorry, zep!
