once again thinking about how bad the high voltage arc is. not only is it anti-climatic and a pointless fight that doesnt fit tonally or narratively as the ending of SBR, but it cheapens the diego and johnny relationship of enemies to begrudging allies that developed over the course of SBR, as well as diegos whole story arc. so evil!!

#diego and johnny is one of my favorite relationships in SBR they're so interesting #and i dont think ending it with deigo vs johnny is necessarily bad but that the hight voltage arc executed it horribly #bc 1. thats NOT jonnys diego. its a diego from another universe that does not have the same history with him which lessons the impact #and 2. johnny and diego have no reason to fight? its only there for fanservice.#i think that the most satisfying ending to SBR would be the corpse parts story to end with valentines death #and have the real diego survive. but then have the last wrap-up arc be johnny vs diego in the SBR race #not trying to kill each other or get the corpse parts or anything #just racing like they did before the events of SBR #and johnny wins ofc since a big part of his character is based on his feelings of inferiority in having never beat dio #+ his feelings of worthlessness after getting shot and losing the use of his legs #so having johnny beat diego while paraplegic i think wraps both of those thing up #AND THEN. have diego like shake johnnys hand after he wins and be like 'good race joekid' or something like that #bc i think they need to reconcile esp since they now both have been through this awful event together and have lost ppl #but anyway. high voltage just waters down their relationship to wow diego is evil and wants to kill johnny which is. hmm. not the case #diego from another world is basically just dio while i think the Real diego is very much Not dio #ugh araki whyd you do it
