BBRae Week 2018 - Day 2
Pet Names
Cyborg stared unblinking at the pair across the table. To his right, Robin and Starfire stared in much the same way, though Starfire’s silence was out of apparent and obvious joy. The objects of their attention were seemingly oblivious to the difficulty they were causing, too caught up in, well… canoodling.
Beast Boy and Raven were wrapped in each other’s arms, nuzzling each other’s necks and whispering in each other’s ears. Cyborg twitched.
“So you guys are sure you’re together?” he asked. Beast Boy looked up with a grin.
“Yup. She’s my little purple gumdrop, soft and sweet,” he sang. Raven giggled - GIGGLED!
“And he’s my Beastie-boo-bear.” Cyborg swore if he still had an entirely human gastric system, he would have thrown up. Indeed, Robin looked like his bile was rising.
“Friends, I am delighted you have discovered romance with each other,” Starfire cheered.
“Thank you, Starfire,” Raven said. “It’s amazing to think Beast Boy is my… Beast Bae.”
“Ugh.” Cyborg shuddered. “Not to be a downer but, that is definitely you, right? Not one of your emotion selves at the wheel?” he asked. For a moment, Raven’s blissful attitude vanished and she fixed Cyborg with a chilling glare, a glint of red in her eyes. “Okay, okay, it’s you.”
The next few days didn’t make their behaviour any less disturbing: nobody ever saw one without the other, there were always at least holding hands and the pet names - oh, the pet names - just got worse and worse.
“Ravencakes.”
“Beasty-weasty.”
“Birdy-girl.”
“Adora-Boy.”
They never seemed to repeat and so Cyborg could never get used to one. Finally, he was pushed too far when Starfire spoke to the happy couple, still congratulating them whenever she saw them. Beast Boy answered first.
“Thanks, Star. She’s my little Rae-Rae of sunshine,” he said.
“And he’s my big green teddy-weddy bearie-boo,” Raven added. Cyborg snapped, standing so quickly from his position on the couch the magazine in his lap smacked into the window.
“That’s it! I can’t take it! Are you guys kidding me? Are you guys gosh darn frickin’ hecking ding dong dang kidding me?!” he cried, voice cracking, Silence filled the room. Starfire watched Raven carefully, wary of her responding to Cyborg’s tantrum with one of her own. Cyborg watched Beast Boy - the boy had a temper all his own, especially when he was defending someone he was close to, and these days he seemed closer to Raven than anyone. However, to his surprise, Beast Boy doubled over in loud, reckless laughter.
“Is this an Earth custom I have missed?” Starfire asked. Cyborg subtly shook his head, as confused as she was, maybe even more so when Raven started to chuckle as well. Beast Boy tumbled over onto his side, still laughing but trying to speak.
“I… I told you… I told you Cyborg would go first!” he gasped. Raven, watching him with a knowing smile, nodded.
“You were right. I was sure Robin wouldn’t be able to leave it alone and would start asking questions,” she said. “You win. I lose.” Cyborg’s confusion evaporated in a red, angry cloud that descended in front of his eyes, at least that’s how it felt.
“This. Was. All. A. BET!!!???” he roared. Unconcerned, Beast Boy looked up at him from the floor.
“Yup. And I won!” he crowed, jerking a victorious thumb at himself.
“I don’t believe you guys!” Cyborg whined. “You faked all that just for a bet? I should’ve known you guys would never-”
“That part’s true,” Raven said, much more like her usual self.
“Uhh… what?” Cyborg said.
“The names and the PDAs, they were for the bet, but Beast Boy and I really are together,” Raven said. Cyborg eyed her sideways before a sly grin spread across his face.
“You aren’t fooling me again so easily, Rae-Rae,” he said, wagging his finger at her. At this, Raven rolled her eyes, knelt beside the still-prone Beast Boy, fisted her hands in the fabric of his uniform and pulled him to her, kissing him passionately yet easily enough to see it certainly wasn’t the first time they had done so.
“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve pushed my boundaries quite far enough for now and I’m ready for some me time,” Raven said. Beast Boy, still held by Raven’s hands, smiled cheerily at her.
“See ya later, Rae.” Raven smiled fondly and lay her hand on his cheek.
“Sooner, if I can help it, Garfield,” she said before letting him fall back to the floor and vanishing with a flourish of her black energy. Beast Boy chuckled on the floor.
“She’s something else, right?” he said, mostly to himself. Cyborg sat back on the couch, sulking.
“So what is it you get?” he asked.
“Huh?”
“What do you get for winning the bet?”
“Oh. Ummm I guess we forgot to decide on that sooooooo… we just did it for fun?”
“…”
“Cy?”
“I… need to go somewhere where you’re not,” Cyborg said, marching straight out the door to his car, planning on finding somewhere quiet he could scream for an hour or so. Eventually he would consider the prank an enviable success and, though he had to put up with a week of retaliation pranks, Beast Boy never doubted it had been worth the effort.
THE END

BBRae Week 2018: Theme 1, Can’t Help Falling In Love With You
Disclaimer: Don’t own Teen Titans. Not making a profit.
BBRae Week Theme 1 - Can’t Help Falling in Love With You OTP: BBRae
Raven wasn’t used to being shocked speechless.
Her fingers curled around the handle of the door latch as she straightened her body in the passenger seat. For a brief moment, she considered throwing the car door open and making a run for it. Usually teleportation would be her choice of escape, but considering the current state of her emotions, teleportation would not be a wise choice.
The empath closed her eyes, trying to silence to the anxious thudding in her chest. Her eyes slowly drifted to the man in the driver’s seat.
His emerald green eyes loving focused on her. For a moment, Raven thought she caught a glimpse of amusement in his stare, but he wouldn’t.
Not right now.
This wasn’t a joke.
Gar knew there was a time and place for jokes.
Raven inhaled sharply her gaze settled on him, her eyebrows raised.
He smiled softly, leaning closer to her and placing a gentle hand on her thigh. Gar tilted his head to her, raising his eyebrows at her as he waited for a response.
Raven slowly uncurled her fingers from the door latch, swallowing the lump in her throat. “Okay.” She responded with a little nod. She steadied her breathing, waiting for his reaction.
Gar released a breathy chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to her lips. “Okay then.” He nodded, releasing her hand as he moved to exit the car. “Let’s get some ice cream.”
Wait, what? “What?”
“I thought we were getting ice cream.” He closed the car door, looking at his girlfriend confused. The changeling pointed to the ice cream shop in front of them.
“You just told me you love me.” Raven’s eyes narrowed as she tried to process the situation.
“I did.” He confirmed.
“I told you ‘okay’.”
“Yep. I was there.” Gar reminded her with a firm nod.
What the hell was going on? “And how you wanna go and get some ice cream?”
He blinked owlishly. “I thought that was plan. We both wanted ice cream.”
“You just told me you loved me, and I said okay!” Raven shouted confused.
“I don’t know what you want from me, woman.” Gar sighed with a smile, grabbing her hand and lacing their fingers together.
“You’re okay with the fact that I didn’t say it back?” Raven asked him, pointedly. She didn’t need to remind him that she was an empath and could easily discover how he felt about the situation. “Honestly?” But, this whole relationship thing complicated her desire to invade his emotional headspace.
“Honestly,” He started with a little shrug. “Yea, I would’ve liked for you to say it back to me. I mean, of course.”
“We’ve only been dating for a couple months.”
“So?”
“So,” Raven stated. “People who have been together for a couple months don’t say I love you.”
“Um, Rae, people get married within days of meeting each other.”
“Doesn’t mean it’s a smart decision.”
He nodded, agreeing with her for a brief moment. “Doesn’t mean that they won’t last.” He tenderly stroked her hand.
“It’s foolish.”
“I can’t help what I feel, and,” Gar confessed honestly. “I love you.”
What was the appropriate response to that? Besides the returning the sentiment.
“And you don’t have to say it back yet.” He told her placing a hand to her cheek. “I said it because that’s how I feel, and I want you to know that I love you.”
Her face burned with emotion and nerves.
“I want you tell me when you’re ready, but until then…” His forehead came to rest against her’s. “You don’t have to say anything.”
“Okay.” Raven nodded, feeling lightheaded as he leaned into kiss her.
“I love you.”

Own! Mix one went straight top three heart
BBRae week - Day 2
Day 2: pet names
The first time it’s as much a slip up as anything else. They’re sitting around the table, there’s piping hot pizza between them, and they’re stretching sore joints, cleaning up cuts after another battle won.
And Raven tilts her head, looks at Garfield, sitting across from her. “Can you pass me the water, dear?”
It only takes a second for her to realize what she has done and already her entire face feels too warm for comfort, her heart thumping something fierce. Gar is grinning like an idiot and there’s something there she can’t quite decipher.
The others are looking between them as if they’re watching a reality tv-show. Cyborg rolls his human eye at her.
“Really, Raven.” He hums and then smiles, amused. For her part, Raven feels like sinking through the floor and straight into the core of the earth.
But after that she tries it again, in private.
When they’re lying in bed, her cheek resting against his chest and there’s scars there she can trace with her fingertips. Most he got before they met.
“What about this one?” She asks, stopping at a jagged cut that spans his left shoulder. Gar has his eyes closed but he frowns.
“Galtry, probably.” He shrugs, as if it doesn’t matter.
Raven kisses it, presses her lips to green skin and his hand braces against her wrist, just short of pushing her away. He doesn’t, though.
“It’s okay, dear.” She says and she means it. She can feel something, a sudden spike of affection at the term of endearment she wasn’t sure she was right about earlier.
But it doesn’t surprise her.
He pulls at her, wraps his arms around her as if they belong only there and nowhere else.
“Thank you, mpenzi.” He whispers and she laughs, because leave it up to Gar to be ever the romantic.
“Just this once, don’t get used to it.” She warns, and he laughs too, because he knows she’s lying.

BBRae Week 2018 - Day 1
"I can't help falling in love with you."
The vista from the window of the Tower was as breathtaking as ever: the blue ocean lapping at the shore with the glass and concrete cityscape gleamed in the sunlight. Raven closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, holding it a few seconds longer than usual before blowing it out with a near-smile on her lips. She opened her eyes to regard the view again but felt her eyes drawn to movement a little to the left - the reflected image of her friends behind her, each busy with their own indulgences but happily acknowledging each other at the same time. Starfire hummed in the kitchen, Robin listened to music on (to Raven) over-large headphones while walking laps of the room, unable to sit still. Cyborg tinkered with a device Raven couldn't even remember the name of, let alone understand. Beast Boy...
Oh.
Beast Boy was watching her again.
Not staring at her. Not drooling over her. Not leering at her. Just... looking when he felt he could. Glancing at her when he believed no-one would see. Just watching. And despite his obvious efforts not to intrude, Raven felt the weight of his observations, fully aware what it meant when someone looked at her like that, even if her empathic senses hadn't already caught him.
She squeezed her eyes shut when an urgent summons drifted up from her subconscious: Hurry! She's free again!
Raven stood, relaxed as possible given the dull ache in her head, and left the room, noting Beast Boy deliberately staring at the opposite wall even as the others naturally looked her way when she moved. She reached her room and marched straight for her mirror, leaning into it and emerging in Nevermore, the mystical quasi-dimension that housed avatars of aspects of herself, all of whom looked like her and were only differentiated by different coloured cloaks. Timid, hiding in her grey cloak, shuffled forward first.
"She's free again! She walked right through my maze's walls like you do!" she whimpered.
"Then what?" Raven asked. Timid actually blushed.
"She told me not to be afraid and... and kissed my hair", she confessed.
"And where is she now?" Raven asked.
"I think she was headed toward Brave's realm." Raven winced at that: the last time Brave had met her, she had been told there was no need to fight her and Brave subsequently tore her own realm to pieces, giving Raven a migraine in the process. With a thought, Raven appeared on the path to Brave and saw her quarry leisurely strolling up the path. When Raven was spotted, she was greeted with a warm smile and gentle hug.
"Raven! I'm so glad to see you," she said. Raven snorted.
"I find that hard to believe, since I'm here to lock you up again." The other only continued to smile.
"I forgive you," she said.
"You forgive me? You turn Nevermore upside down every other day and you forgive me?!" Raven seethed. The other's smile dimmed but remained.
"I forgive you for denying me, Raven. Though I should point out, if you let me build a realm of my own, I wouldn't need to wander through the rest of Nevermore," she said. Raven visible recoiled at the thought.
"Not happening," Raven said. "You're going back in your cage."
"At least call me by my name for once," the other said. Raven's lips pursed. "Oh, I see. You can't even admit to me in here, let alone out there," she said, waving her head above her to indicate the real world. "It won't work, Raven, hiding me away. I can't be contained like that. You can hide me from others but it'll only get easier when you stop hiding me from yourself." Raven was silent for a long moment.
"Why don't you tell me your name?" Raven said, folding her arms. The other laughed, incredulous.
"Wow, you actually don't know. You really are in denial, aren't you? I see why you might worry about my realm, then. After all, I could be an avatar of lust, all set to turn a corner of your mind into a leather-clad sex dungeon!" she laughed. Raven growled at her. "Don't worry, I'm not lust. Well... not entirely, though lust is in here somewhere, you could say."
"Then you're... you're... you are..."
"I am Love, Raven, and I am finally strong enough to manifest here in Nevermore. Don't be afraid, Raven, this is good. This is a good thing! I represent all kinds of love you feel: the conflicted love you're not quite sure you feel for your mother, the very clear love you feel for your friends and the tiny differences in each: Cyborg is your brother, Starfire your sister, Robin somewhere between first crush and your hero and Beast Boy... is Beast Boy."
"What does that mean?" Raven asked, curtly.
"I can show you. Here," Love said, and what appeared to be a book appeared in her hands. She riffled through the pages and showed it to Raven: it was open on a page sporting an image of Starfire with a circle of mystic symbols beneath it. "Put your hand in the circle, Raven," Love said, gently enough that Raven did so without fear. Raven found herself swallowed up by emotion, the warm and safe and sweet feeling she felt for Starfire, one of understanding, compromise and unconditional loyalty. Next, Love turned the page to an image of Aqualad. The feeling from this page was less intense but rather more... base. Her stomach flipped and he face warmed - she thought he was hot, but that was where the feeling ended. Raven withdrew her hand.
"Now this one," Love instructed, the page now showing Beast Boy. Raven hesitated. "Don't be afraid, Raven." Raven set her jaw and slapped her hand on the page. At first it was similar to Starfire's, warm and uncomplicated, that rare bond of true friendship, flecked with the electric feeling of their occasional conflict. Then another feeling made itself known and Raven's stomach sank, as it felt akin to her reaction to Aqualad. Then... something else smothered it, something hot and dangerous, bitter and joyous, tempting and terrifying.
"I'm in love with him," Raven whispered. Tears sprang from her eyes as the weight of the feeling, long dammed by her own stubbornness, finally rushed through her. Love knelt beside her, holding her in comfort. Eventually, Raven looked up at her. "Where would you like to live?" she asked. Love laughed.
"Near here, where all the paths converge. Love can give rise to any and all other feelings, Raven, not all of them positive, but it's where I belong," she said. Raven nodded.
"I look forward to seeing it," she said. "Huh. Beast Boy. I can hardly believe it. And yet, now that it's all out, it seems obvious."
"What will you do now?" Love asked.
"I should take time to consider. I know he feels love for me as well, but jumping right in may be unwise. On the other hand..."
THE TOWER
It was late when Raven emerged from her mirror. She let her awareness spread out and, to her delight and mild terror, found Beast Boy alone in the common room. She took a few deep breaths and left her room.
Beast Boy sat in the common room, glued to the monitor as he played games. Despite his outward focus, his brain kept betraying him and returning to Raven. The way she looked, the way she smelled, the way she sounded...
"Beast Boy?"
He flinched so hard the controller jumped out of his hands and rattled across the floor.
"Rae? I mean... Raven?" he blurted, standing up and looking very much like he expected an ambush. Raven smiled nervously.
"It's alright. You can call me Rae," she said. Beast Boy's eyes nearly popped out of his skull.
"I can?" he asked. Raven chose not to answer the question she had already answered and stepped closer, looking at him curiously.
"I know you have feelings for me," she said. Beast Boy's face paled and he felt ready to pass out.
"I... that's... you... well..." he stammered.
"Just so were clear here and there's no doubt, I know and accept your feelings. And... I return them." This time, Beast Boy's knees really did buckle, and he face planted into the couch. Raven walked around to him, amusement in her eyes.
"Everyone okay down there?" she asked. Beast Boy managed to move into a more conventional seating position.
"Sorry, Raven. Rae. I swore you said-" he said, stopping short when Raven sat right next to him, wearing one of those near-smiled he had learned to cherish. "Oh wow. Okay. Wow. I mean... wow." Raven's smile grew a few sizes and Beast Boy felt his heart grow with it. Borne on a wave of adoration, he lurched forward and pressed his lips to Raven's, quickly pulling back with shock in his eyes, mirroring the shock in hers.
"Oh shit, Rae, sorry. I was.. I mean you're so... I just got all... I just... I love you, okay? I know you probably wanna go slow and I just totally rushed right in there but I just love you. I love you, Rae, more than I can ever explain." Raven laid her hand in his, wondering how she had even been unaware of her feelings for him.
"Wise men say only fools rush in," she said, eliciting a wince from Beast Boy. "But I can't help falling in love with you."
THE END
Guess who isn't dead.

BBRae Week 2018, Theme 5: In-Laws
Disclaimer: Don’t own Teen Titans. Not making a profit.
BBRae Week Theme 4 - In-Laws OTP: BBRae (Friendship/Family)
PLEASE READ BEFORE READING FIC: This is a friendship/family fic. This fic does not contain Beast Boy and Raven in a romantic relationship. I also talked with someone for BBRae week, and they said it was acceptable for me to write friendship fic.
Beast Boy and Raven are written as friends in this fic.
“I’m changing the locks.”
Gar laughed, holding up his hands in submission. “I left my shoes on the mat by the door.” He walked over to the fridge helping himself.
“I’m still changing the locks.” Raven commented from her seat at the kitchen island. “Don’t you have food at your apartment?” She questioned watching him pull out food from her fridge.
“One,” He started, pulling out a bagel from the bread box. “I could always morph into an ant or something and crawl under the door, so go ahead and change the locks. Two,” He continued, scooping a glob of cream cheese on his bagel. “You know Rose doesn’t go grocery shopping.”
“You know you shouldn’t expect your fiancé to do the grocery shopping.” She smirked, curling her fingers around her mug.
“I don’t.” Gar responded, returning her smirk. “That is why I’m here.” He took a bit of the bagel, chewing messily and then gesturing to the space around them. “Eating your food.”
“Rose does the same thing.” Raven marveled shaking her head in disbelief. “You two are just,” She paused. “Perfect for each other.” It was still early in the day, she was going to be nice.
“Right!?” He grinned cheekily at the compliment. “Only a few more weeks until Rose and I become Mr. and Mrs. Perfect.”
“I didn’t think Rose was gonna change her last name?”
He shrugged. “Probably not. I’m shocked you changed your last name.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Why?”
“I don’t know.” Gar honestly didn’t. “I figured you’d be one of those women who kept their maiden name”
Raven’s head tilted as she eyed him strangely.
“Like, dude, it’s not a bad thing, just…” He chomped on his bagel, hopping up on the kitchen counter to sit. He shrugged his shoulders and gestured wildly as he tried to explain himself. “I figured you’d be Roth.”
“Well, I was until I got pregnant with Flora.” She admitted, taking a sip of tea. “I mean, I figured since we were having kids it would be nice if we all had the same last name.”
“Makes sense.” He nodded.
“Also, changing your name is a long and painful process.”
“It’s not that bad.”
She chuckled. “Then change your name to Wilson.”
Gar laughed. “I think I’m good.” He told her. “I think you and Joe have created enough Wilson children. This family needs more Logans.”
Raven’s eyes widened. “Does Rose know this?”
“We figured you and Joe could have another one and name him Logan.” He stated factually. “Or her. I’m progressive.”
Raven laughed. “No.”
“Come on, Rae.” He pleaded. “I think Reid wants a little brother or sister, and Flora totally wants another one.”
“Reid would be happy with a puppy.” She pointed out with a snort. “And Flora wants world domination.”
“Oh, that Wilson blood…” He whistled.
“I think Joe and I are done in the kids department.” She told him with a devious smirk. She decided not to tell him they were considering another. “It’s you and Rose’s turn.”
Gar chuckled.
“My kids need some cousins.” She nodded.
“Or, or, here me out,” He finished his bagel, dusted off his fingers and hopped off the counter. “Or, you could do this for your new brother-in-law. Have another kid. Or two. G-“
“You’re not my brother-in-law.” Raven frowned.
He blinked, brow wrinkling as he thought. “Yea….?” He replied slowly. “I’m marrying your husband’s sister, so by law we’ve become related.”
Her frown deepened. “I don’t think we get titles for each other. I think you’re just going to be Joe’s brother-in-law, and I’m Rose’s sister-in-law.”
“Umm, I am also going to be officially be Uncle Gar.” How could she forget his most important title?
“You’re already Uncle Gar.”
“Yea, but officially…” He told her with a smirk. “Ha! I’m your family now.”
“You’ve been my family for years.” Raven snorted. “You come over unannounced, eat my food, and I don’t throw you out.” He was also wonderful with Flora and Reid, and often there to help herself and Joey.
“Best brother-in-law ever.” Gar nodded, going back into her frigide. “Where are my niece and nephew, by the way?”
Raven smirked, picking her book back up. “Surprisingly, still asleep.”
“Dude, it’s all most nine!”
“I know.” It was one of those rare weekday mornings, she hadn’t been awoken by an overzealous Flora or Reid’s cry to be held. “Amazing isn’t it?”
“I’m going to wake them up.” He decided, walking out of the kitchen. “The day is wasting. I’m thinking pancakes and a field trip to the zoo! Yea!!” He cheered, hands pumped up in victory.
“You wake them,” Raven called with a warning. “You take them!”
“I got this Rae!” Gar shouted as Joey walked into the kitchen. “I will have them home before dinner!”
Joey turned to Raven, pointing to the source of the noise.
“He’s kidnapping our children.” Raven explained calmly taking a sip of her tea.
The mute shrugged. He’d return them eventually.

BBRae Week 2018 - Day 7
I Never Asked To Be Like This
Cyborg flinched as he watched Beast Boy throw himself into mortal peril. Upon entering the room and seeing her, he had sneaked up behind her and thrown his arms around her waist.
“Hellooooo Rae-Rae!” he sang. Raven snarled and shook him off, turning to glare at him. He smiled sheepishly and scuffed his boot on the floor.
“I have told you of my stance on personal space before. More than once, have I not?” she said.
“Mmmmmmmmyeah,” he admitted with a shrug. “I was just so happy to see you.” Raven sighed.
“You see me every day, Beast Boy,” she said, sternly. He shrugged again.
“I’m always happy to see you, Rae,” he said, matter-of-factly. Raven continued to glare at him… then her frown softened. Then she smiled.
“You’re lucky you’re so adorable,” she said, before carrying on her way and leaving the room. Beast Boy smiled with a faintly reckless look in his eyes, and then laughed out loud. Cyborg stared open-mouthed at him.
“You’re ‘too adorable’? 'TOO ADORABLE’?! What the fudge, man?” he cried. Beast Boy strutted past him.
“What can I say? I never asked to be like this, but I’d be an idiot not to use it.”
THE END
I ran out of time to develop this into a longer story, but I still enjoy the idea. I hope you did too.
