Brexit: UK’s departure date delayed again - BBC News by BBC News Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May has told MPs they have a 'national duty' to resolve the Brexit crisis. Today she defended her decision to accept a further delay of six months after late-night talks with EU leaders last night. 'Cheers' 1982 93

You need a place where everybody knows your title – even supposing it's just a dive-bar in Boston total of regulars with no place else to go. 'Deadwood' 2004-06

At the center of it all (i.e., the saloon), Ian McShane's Al glowers, pours drinks, counts money and slices jugulars, in a frontier hellhole total of prospectors, whores, drunks and lost freaks looking for one last deadly fight to get in to (and often finding it at Al's spot). It was like McCabe & Mrs. Miller with mo Re depressing intercourse scenes. The first two seasons are strong gold, the third, flimsier, but Deadwood is about how communities get constructed – and every one of the dirty function that involves.

'The West Wing' 1999-2006

Aaron Sorkin gave America the the first choice we didn't really deserve in the benevolent President Jed Bartlet of Martin Sheen, a high-toned Catholic professor from New Hampshire. Premiering in late 1999, The West Wing played the same as a Bubba-period fantasy of the way the political potential would appear (like in case the Democrats had a little more bravery, or in the event the Republicans had a theory or two) that soon ended up being utterly out of step with the Bush-Cheney years. But Sorkin's trademark rapid-fire dialogue as well as the Bartlet administration's idealism created this a parallel-universe that was a welcome.

'Louie' 2010-Present

'Star Trek' 196669

The Star-Ship Enterprise took off using a five-year mission: "To discover odd new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations," and it succeeded in making the most beloved of sci-fi franchises, maybe not just inspiring countless spin offs but also codifying fan fiction as an art form. Gene Roddenberry's original collection remains the the inspiration, with William Shatner's awesomely pulpy Capt. Kirk, Leonard Nimoy's logical Mr. Spock, Bones, Sulu, Uhura and Scotty. They speak to strange and inexplicable lifeforms – Romulans, Gorns, Joan Collins. During its three years, Star Trek endured low ratings until NBC pulled the plug, but thanks to the most doggedly faithful of TV cults (remember when "Trekkie" was an insult?), Roddenberry's vision lives long and prospers to the day.

BBC North West Tonight Garden promoting spirit and resilience of the North West

The Royal Horticultural Society announces the ‘BBC North West Tonight Garden’ at this year’s RHS Flower Show Tatton Park, supported by Bruntwood. The garden is inspired by the poem ‘Up Here’ by Manchester based writer and performer Tony Walsh, championing the strength and resilience of the North West following the tragic Manchester Bombing on 22 May 2017.

The garden has been designed by Cheshire based award winning designer Janine Crimmins, and will be relocated to a local community after the show as a symbol of the unity and support that the NW has become famous for. The community will be selected via a competition launched by the RHS and BBC North West Tonight on Thursday 24 May, live from RHS Chelsea Flower Show where Janine has designed ‘A very English Garden’ in the Artisan category.

The ‘North West Tonight Garden’ is designed to draw people together in a space of calm and will feature a wealth of iconic North West elements including carved images of the Manchester Bee, which has long been a symbol of strength in the region, alongside poignant words from ‘Up Here’ engraved on locally sourced stone throughout the garden. A new rose being launched at the Show by local grower C & K Jones in memory of Saffie Roussos, who tragically died at the event, will feature within the planting.

The whole of the NW has until 8 June to apply via www.bbc.co.uk/NWT explaining what receiving the garden would mean to their community. The winning community will be announced on BBC North West Tonight on 15 June, with members of the community being invited to participate in the build of the garden at the Show, alongside presenters from BBC North West Tonight.

Isobel Coulter, show manager for RHS Tatton Park said: “We feel very privileged to have the BBC North West Tonight Garden representing such an important message at this year’s show. Having been held in Cheshire for 20 years in 2018, we are very familiar with the warmth, strength and grit that is truly unique to the spirit of the North West, and are excited to see this encapsulated in a space specifically designed to bring people together.”

Dianne Oxberry, BBC North West Tonight presenter said: “It’s fantastic to be a part of RHS Tatton Park this year. We are very excited about working with Janine and we are so pleased that one of our community groups will get to share the pleasure of the NorthWest Tonight garden.”
