Billy Joe Saunders won his title back in the year 2015 Britain’s Billy Joe Saunders will give up his WBO world middleweight title “with a heavy heart”, according to the boxer.

That will be the case as he fights against the decision to deny him a licence, promoter Frank Warren discloses.

The bout between the pair of Saunders and Demetrius Andrade which was set for October 20 this year is off.

Eubank-Benn postponement to spark legal battle between promoters and BBBofC

Conor Benn’s fight against Chris Eubank Jr on Saturday has been postponed amid a threat of legal action against the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).

Co-promoters Matchroom and Wasserman Boxing conceded defeat in their attempts to stage the catchweight meeting at London's O2 Arena in defiance of the BBBofC declaring it was “prohibited” and “not in the interests of boxing”.

The BBBofC acted after it was revealed on Wednesday that trace amounts of fertility drug clomiphene, which elevates testosterone levels in men, had shown up in a recent test by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA).

Hearn stressed that Benn has not been suspended for the doping violation and in a statement released in conjunction with Wasserman Boxing, blamed the sport’s governing body for the postponement.

“It is undeniable that the British Boxing Board of Control’s decision to withdraw their sanctioning was procedurally flawed and without due process,” the statement read.

“That remains a legal issue between the promoters and the Board which we intend to pursue.

Boxing WILL resume again in Britain from February after January circuit breaker... meaning next month's grudge fight between Amir Khan and Kell Brook will go ahead as planned

Amir Khan's long-awaited fight with Kell Brook is set to be given the green light to go ahead as planned after the British Boxing Board of Control revealed the sport will resume in February.  

The Manchester grudge fight is set to take place on February 19 but it was clouded in doubt when British boxing authorities placed a Covid circuit breaker on all fighting throughout January in order to let medics focus on work with the NHS.

The ban means Chris Eubank Jr's fight against Liam Williams has been postponed by a week from January 29 to February 5, but BBBofC general secretary Robert Smith revealed that fighting will resume as normal from February 1.
