Bayla
The first story I ever started developing, Bayla is a fantasy themed story set in the world of Bayla, hosting a large variety of creatures, characters and places it was fairly complex for my first story but has slowly grown over the years. Starting development in middle school, it is my oldest idea and has changed a lot over the last few years.
Following four sisters, the princesses of the capital city. After the city is attacked and destroyed, the girls escape to the forest and hide there for years until an old friend uncovers them and warns them that they are desperately needed in order to stop the raging war across the nation. Aided by their unique abilities, the girls travel around the country, gaining allies in order re-take their home.
Although I have no clear inspiration for this story, lots of my characters are themed off of characters in other media that I found inspirational, Max was based off of the main character of a book series named “Maximum Ride” due to her flight abilities and leadership morals to care for her family. “Avatar the Last Airbender” was another form of inspiration I found helpful with the range of abilities the characters had and the travels they faced as a team. I was also inspired by many of the imaginings I had as a younger child whilst playing with action figures.
This story would be aimed at a 12+ readers as the story is not too complex and does not have any extremely violent themes shown within it. The main genre is fantasy/adventure so is aimed at a younger and possibly more female aimed audience due to its 4 main female characters, however it is possible that the story can be enjoyed by older, younger and male audiences.
