The Indie Live Expo 2020 live stream event was held on June 6, revealing a plethora of info on Doujin games and Japanese indie games. Hereâs a list of all the announcements made during the stream.

A trailer showing the stage was published as well. Record of Lodoss War â Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth- launched in early access on March 12, 2020. As of now it only has a single stage, so it really is an early access. Stage 2 will include Efreet and Ylk as mid-bosses. The developers promises more content to come soon. You can read much more on this Metroidvania featuring Deedlit from Ryo Mizunoâs Lodoss novels with our past coverage here and here.

â Pocketpair â Craftopia (@PocketpairGames) June 6, 2020
Japanese indie devs Pocket Pair revealed its online multiplayer game Craftopia, and announced a Steam Early Access in July. Recruitment for a Closed Alpha Test also began.
Craftopia might look like Story of Seasons in 3D at a first glance, but it actually mixes Survival, Open-World, Crafting, Pokemon, and Online Multiplayer. Craftopia is also an hack ânâ slash, as youâll craft your own equipment and learn skills to fight. You can make buildings and vehicles as well. The game promises a high degree of freedom, allowing you to do a lot of things that would lend you in jail in real life, such as building a giant machine to automatically boil livestock for food, or hunting elephants.
Craftopia looks like tons of fun and is definitely a game Iâll keep an eye on. The official site promises âendless possibilitiesâ. If you can create a whole automated society complete with state racism and cops characters who assassinate innocents with impunity, Iâll buy this in a heartbeat.
Nimbus Infinity Announced on PC via Steam and Consoles (Release Date TBA)
youtube
GameTomo and GameCrafterTeam announced Nimbus Infinity, the sequel to high-speed mecha action game Project Nimbus. Nimbus Infinity will feature skill-based combat, diverse battlefields from asteroid belts to deserts, and customizable mecha & weapons. You can read more on the game on its official site. Itâs interesting to note Nimbus Infinity was announced for PC via Steam and âconsolesâ, so perhaps it could come to Xbox Series X and PS5.
Sumire Announced for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch (Release Date TBA)
youtube
GameTomo revealed a brand new narrative-driven game, Sumire no Sora. itâs definitely one of the game that piqued my interest the most during the Indie Live Expo 2020 stream, so I detailed what we know about the game via a dedicated article.
Picontier, Coming to PC and Switch, Gets New Gameplay (Release Date TBA)

â ăŠăŠă©ă@Skipmore (@skipmore) June 6, 2020
Developed by Skipmore (Fairune, Kamiko) Picontier is a slow-paced garden raising game with cute pixel art. You can also fish and fight monsters. Itâs similar to Bokujou Monogatari (Story of Seasons) and its spinoff Rune Factory. They showed around 5 minutes of gameplay on the Indie Live Expo stream. Watch it at the 54:03 timestamp. The gameâs developer asked us on Twitter to please wait a bit more till release. Theyâre also working on another game called Transiruby.
Touhou Fan Game Gensokyo Night Festival on Steam Gets Major Content Update Coming Soon
youtube
Tea_Basira announced during Indie Live Expo 2020 that its 2D scrolling action Touhou game, Gensokyo Night Festival, will get a new update soon. Similarly to Deedlit in Wonderland, the game is in early access. The update will add the gameâs second stage, which has Utsuho Reiuji aka Okuu as boss, one of my favorite 2hues.
Chinese Parents, Already Available in English, Will Now Launch in Japanese
Chinese Parents is a pretty interesting sounding game. Itâs a raising simulation where you live as a Chinese kid born in an average family, from their very early days of life up to the end of high school when they turn 18 years old. You decide how to spend your time, having fun, studying, learning skills, etc. Itâs pretty much Princess Maker but with Chinese Parents. Iâd definitely like to try it one day.
Children of Morta, Already Available in the West, was Finally Announced for our Japanese Peers on PS4, Switch
Children of Morta is an indie-action RPG available in the West on PS4 and Switch. Developed by Dead Mage, Children of Mortaâs story driven experience will hopefully become a hit in Japan. No release estimate for the Japanese version was announced yet, but hopefully the wait wonât be much longer. You can read our review of Children of Morta here.
The Indie Live Expo 2020 stream is embedded below. You have the English version and the Japanese version. Smaller announcements were also made, like new ports of existing games. Multiple already revealed or released games were featured for exposure too, such as Gnosia and Alter Ego S. If youâre interested, watch the Indie Waves Part 1,2,3 at the 1:15:56, 2:05:45, and 3:24:27 marks. The event also featured messages from popular Japanese developers:
ZUN (Touhou Project)
Toby Fox (âUNDERTALEâ, âDELTARUNEâ)
SWERY (CEO for White Owls Inc. ) (1:30:58)
Kazuya Nino (TYPE-MOON studio BB) (3:58:18)
Shuhei Yoshida(Head of Indies Initiative Sony Interactive Entertainment)
Jenova Chen(Co-Founder and Creative Director of thatgamecompany)
ZUN appears on stream at the 4:00:24 mark. He waited in the next room for like 6 hours, watching the stream unfold. Toby Foxâs heartwarming message follows soon after. You can watch Toby Foxâ message by itself here, but it isnât as poignant without the comments from ZUN.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Review
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Itâs hard to get excited about a new Call of Duty game after 16 years of consecutive releases, but a bigger emphasis on stealth in Black Ops Cold Warâs campaign and a couple of enjoyable new multiplayer modes prove that this annual franchise can still hang with the best.
While part of the Black Ops subseries, you donât need to be familiar with the previous games to enjoy Cold Warâs single-player campaign. Alex Mason, the protagonist from the first two Black Opsâ games returns for a few missions, but youâll be playing as your own created character for most of the adventure. After an adrenaline-pumping opening chase sequence set in Turkey, youâll get to choose your characterâs gender, background, and two extra skills from a âpsychologicalâ profile. These skills include perks like extra health or faster reload speed. Itâs a cool concept, but it doesnât add much while on actual missions.Â
Set mostly in 1981, Cold War sees your character working with the CIA to stop Perseus, a Soviet spy who has stolen nuclear secrets and is now threatening the stability of western Europe. Along the way, youâll be joined by Mason and Russell Adler, a scarred CIA agent who looks exactly like Robert Redford. Somehow, itâs not him, though. I checked, double checked, and then looked it up again. Redford has nothing to do with the game, though the resemblance is uncanny.Â
Developers Treyarch and Raven Software have done a fantastic job creating the gameâs early â80s aesthetic, with fashion and office space seemingly lifted straight out of a movie from the era. File footage and a brief cameo from a very uncanny valley Ronald Reagan help further set the tone. Call of Duty isnât exactly known for its soundtracks, but Cold War showcases a few big hits from the era, including Billy Squireâs âThe Strokeâ and Pat Benatarâs âHit Me With Your Best Shot.â As if that werenât enough to revive the decade of big hair and shoulder pads, Raven even managed to squeeze a few classic Activision games from the Atari 2600 into Cold War for good measure.Â
While Cold War retains the more realistic, heavier gunplay of last yearâs Modern Warfare reboot, the move away from active battlefields lends itself to some much-needed changes to the seriesâ usual formula. Many missions have a much greater emphasis on infiltration and stealth. Enemies can be taken hostage and used as shields, and hiding bodies in closets is critical to success during stealth missions. Sneaking around old Soviet bases with a silenced pistol at the ready results in a strong GoldenEye 007 vibe. I didnât expect a Call of Duty game in 2020 to emulate the classic N64 shooter, but it works well here.
All of this culminates with one of the best missions in the seriesâ history: a two-part heist that begins with stealth section that can be completed in multiple ways, followed by a tense shootout and escape. It feels like this is the campaign mission in which Raven put most of its efforts, and itâs such a step above everything else in the campaign that it makes me wonder what the developers could do with the series if they were able to get off the biannual release treadmill and not have to meet such a tight deadline.
I donât want to give too much of the story away, but I will say that it takes a bizarre hallucinatory left turn after the heist mission, and then in one of the most unoriginal moves in gaming history, steals BioShockâs big twist beat-for-beat. The gameplay remains enjoyable until the very end, but the last hour or so of Cold Warâs story is especially disappointing because the rest of the story is so well told. I get it. This is Call of Duty. I donât expect a Shakespearean narrative, but some originality wouldâve been nice. At least the story includes the branching choices that last appeared in Black Ops II, though they feel much less consequential here. There are two distinct endings, but the choices you make during the campaign just affect some of the voiceovers.
Another issue I ran into with the campaign while playing the PC version was a bug where no matter what I did, I couldnât trigger the ending cutscene for the early mission âFracture Jaw.â Apparently itâs a problem quite a few players are having. After a quick Google search, I was able to resolve it by running scan and repair on the gameâs files through the Battle.net launcher, but this is a major bug that never should have made it into the final release.
Release Date: Nov. 13, 2020 Platforms: PC (reviewed), XSX, PS5, XBO, PS4 Developers: Treyarch & Raven Software Publisher: Activision Genre: First-person Shooter
The campaign is also extremely short, even by Call of Duty standards. Accounting for the time I got stuck in âFracture Jaw,â I was able to breeze through it in about five hours. Of course, many Call of Duty players donât even touch single player, which is why Iâm pleased to report that this yearâs multiplayer release is solid, though itâs a little light on content at the moment, with only 10 maps available at launch, and two of those are exclusive to the new Fireteam mode.
The maps are well-designed, though. Thanks to improved ray-traced lighting effects, the neon-hued Miami map is easily the best looking of the bunch, and it features a good mix of interior and exterior sections in which to set up ambushes. Crossroads, a snow-covered map set in the forests of Uzbekistan, is another excellent map, with lots of perches for sniping and wide open areas you can drive snowmobiles through. But my favorite map is the large version of Armada, which is made up of multiple ships anchored in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. You travel between these ships on smaller boats and jet skis, which makes for plenty of unique encounters, but thereâs also a lot of verticality. Once you get on top of the larger ships, you can pick off opponents below.Â
The two big mode additions to multiplayer, Fireteam and VIP Escort, appeal to very different tastes. The 40-player Fireteam mode breaks off players into 10 squads of four players each in a mad dash to kill each other as quickly as possible for pieces of uranium. The uranium is then taken to one of several points around the map to set off dirty bombs. The first squad to 500 points wins. With so many different squads to keep track of, respawning players constantly parachuting in, and detonated dirty bombs irradiating parts of the map every few minutes, Fireteam is like a smaller, more chaotic version of Warzone. So itâs good, but like the rest of Cold Warâs multiplayer, I wish there was more to it.
The other new multiplayer mode is the 6v6 VIP Escort. In each two-and-a-half minute round, one player from each team is randomly selected as the VIP, who is equipped only with a pistol, smoke grenade, and UAV. The rest of the team has to protect him as he makes his way to one of two evac points. The round ends when the VIP escapes or is killed, or when all members of the opposing team are killed. The first team to win four rounds takes the match. VIP Escort has an obvious Counter-Strike influence. Itâs a lot faster-paced than most other Call of Duty modes, and I enjoyed the matches I played, but Iâm not sure it has the staying power of Team Deathmatch or Domination.
Rounding out the Cold War package is the Zombies mode, which returns from Black Ops 4 after a one-year hiatus. The only map available at launch, âDie Maschine,â takes place in 1983 at a graffiti-covered abandoned Nazi bunker. âDie Maschineâ is actually a reimagining of the first Zombies map from 2008âs World at War, but itâs a well-made level, starting with a large, open area, and then moving into the winding underground caverns weâve all come to expect from the Zombies mode. There are also some very cool looking paranormal hijinks to trigger as the rounds progress. The map may not be completely original, but itâs a significant step up from the original release.Â
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
One welcome change to Zombies this year is that you can now play as your custom classes and operators from multiplayer, so you can jump into a match with much stronger weapons from the start instead of having to make do with a peashooter and work your way up to something more powerful. Thankfully, this doesnât break the game either. Itâs still very easy to get overwhelmed in the later waves if youâre not careful. My only complaint about Zombies is that I wish Treyarch had leaned into the â80s setting more and included content similar to the retro amusement park seen in 2016âs Infinite Warfare. I suppose thereâs always hope weâll see something like that added in an update. As of now, the only other thing Zombies has to offer is the twin-stick shooter Dead Ops 3, which is really only worth checking out for a few minutes.
If youâre burned out on Call of Duty, or never got into franchise to begin with, Cold War is not the game thatâs going to change your mind. There are some rough edges here, particularly in the short campaign mode. The lack of variety in multiplayer is also disappointing. But the underlying gameplay and multiplayer progression system remain compelling. Cold War may not be the best Call of Duty game, but itâs a strong showing for the series at the beginning of a new gaming generation.

AnĂĄlise Titanfall 2: Xbox One, PS4 e PC
Analise Titanfall 2: Xbox One, PlayStation 4 e PC
O game estĂĄ aprimorado no Xbox One X em 4K DinĂąmico, e disponĂvel no The Vault do EA Acess.

Everything Pertaining To Psn
The PlayStation 4 Pro was simply the first of all system in which might manage HD video gaming and the enhancement is generally really primarily with respect to being actually acquired within the functionality regarding the PlayStation.
Because its 2016 debut, PlayStation 4 Pro has actually provided several exceptional end results to get 4K living display screens.. Graphically a masterpiece pertaining to PlayStation as well as particularly to get a 4.2 teraflow GPU.
Although 4K was generally actually at first the emphasis the moment it pertains to the device, I 'd now claim that it really is simply something of a gem to get 1080p display screen end users considering that effectively. Also spells without having a 4k display in which still get an older PlayStation, it really is still a good time to replace to the PlayStation Pro.
Specs PS
Let's consider the evidence, and it starts throughout with the specs of the PS4 Pro itself.Let's see what it really is generally such as to begin as well as with the specs regarding the PlayStation 4 pro.But exactly how did this all of begin together with the PS4 Pro as well as its However the PlayStation 4 Pro does this have 2 primary issues whenever it really concerns providing 4k content, we asked a bunch of hardware professional, as well as these people agree. GPU compute has actually duplicated throughout the regular version, opening the door to temporal supersampling as well as checkerboarding solutions in which. as seen in lots of names might seem awesome on an ultra HD screen.
However, certainly there is another side to this tale; Sony has actually enhanced the GPU however certainly never the RAM.
In the meantime, a mere 512MB of special memory so as to solution a 2x-4x boost inside pixel thickness additionally causes obstacles.
Developers create even more video games
At the same time, programmers are definitely forcing their games harder than previously earlier. A role model of this particular is definitely Just Cause 4. At the release of this particular game, our company were actually enamored of the cost and also stable productivity such the video game attained with a forceful dynamic scale-up the pixel resolution.
The game induced 4 DRS is generally reaching a game bad in 720, although the basic ps4 is generally called a 1080p video gaming machine. Since the Pro has indeed been actually leased with CRP, the performance has actually enhanced a great deal, initially, the resolution was simply generally on 1080p. As a result of the most steady entertainer out of each of the PlayStation gaming consoles.
Avalanche Studios isn't alone throughout pushing the hardware. These guys are definitely not just pushing the hardware. Some creators will definitely just get 60 frames every further, and also to reach this specific, these developers have to compromise on the resolution can easily the game, Namco, Bandai's Tekken 7 is this kind of an example. the two are actually somewhat blurred sub-native games, while the Pro provides 1080p along with a few additional visual embellishments. However certainly there are definitely extra games such as Ace Combat 7, as well as Unreal Engine perform also dail at providing native 1080p on the standard PS4, with regard to a greater enjoy anyone require in order to possess a pro console.
what video game is the optimal pro video game
Key titles acquire the most improved performance out of the PlayStation pro, as well as this specific a big true blessing. EA's Anthem has bespoke settings to get the Pro's 1080p as well as 4K outcomes.
but within our testing The full HD result offered without a doubt the absolute most steady frame-rate of all four gaming console develops, effectively secured at 1080p, 30 frames per second. Battlefield 5 multiplayer?
Our rest result about the ps pro video games
We have actually tested this, as well as our outcomes show that the PlayStation pro provides an even more constant frame rate or perhaps almost all the gaming console that has actually been released. So, in the end, the in regard to all of consoles our people test the PlayStation pro was simply far greater than everything else.
That being actually said, it really gets even better; our team also see a headline in which achieves 60 frames per second on this particular Pro beast, against the usual 30 fps at the typical gaming console. Productivity modes that released frame-rate have never ever really prospered on the Pro - the minimal upgrade to CPU power Pro gives sees to that. The two newest samples that made for a game-changer whenever our company discuss the performance update inside hardware are actually definitely. Our team discuss One of the most apparent is simply Rage 2, co-developed by Avalanche and id software application.|Certainly, obviously, our team are definitely discussing Rage2, which is actually made by Avalanche and also ID software program.|Right now you are generally considering what video game the writer is actually talking about? Well, that is actually Rage 2 which is actually produced by Avalanche and ID software.
People get 30 frames every second at the basis machine, although a nigh-on secured 60fps at Pro. Of course there are actually several even more video games in which may keep it very easy, the favourite of our review crew is generally FIFA 19.
Indeed, the PlayStation pro acquires far better simply by the month, everybody will notice this. However, exactly how is actually this specific possible?Well, that is definitely simple. The video game developer will find out specifically how to deal with the misinterpretation of this pixel along with the PlayStation pro.

Testing your own self? Obtain a card legally
In this way whatever one handle people have? A PlayStation pro or a regular PlayStation? To test this, you really need a bit of video games to get free in a legal method In that case you should find a legal method to get a PlayStation gift card Earning PlayStation Gift Cards Can be definitely legal and simple if anyone inspect it inside google Our team possess our preferred website to get a card hidden in this blog text, in this way ensure anyone check that out.

Need to Blow off Some Steam? Here Are the 7 Best Shooter Games for the X-Box, ps4, and PC
New Post has been published on https://floridaindependent.com/need-to-blow-off-some-steam-here-are-the-7-best-shooter-games-for-the-x-box-ps4-and-pc/
Need to Blow off Some Steam? Here Are the 7 Best Shooter Games for the X-Box, ps4, and PC
Video gaming is more popular than ever before. Indeed, almost 70% of people in the US now regularly play them!
Clearly, no matter the console, this is a country of gamers.
This explosion in popularity has given rise to a huge number of games to choose from.
Of them all, first-person shooter (FPS) games are some of the most popular. They always have been, and, chances are, they always will be. Unfortunately, not all of them are made equal! Some are significantly better than others.
This fact made us wonder about the best shooter games that are out there right now. Are you looking to find the next FPS to get your teeth stuck into?
Keep reading to discover 7 of our best picks.
1. Call of Duty Back Ops 4
Any list of top FPS games would be incomplete without Call of Duty.
This epic franchise has been up and running for years. It remains one of the most popular games ever created. However, recent years saw it in slight decline.
That is until Black Ops 4 hit the shelves.
An awesome storyline is interwoven with well-designed levels and gameplay. One slight pitfall is the lack of a solo campaign. That may raise some eyebrows. But donât despair.
It more than makes up for it in action. You can play Black Ops 4 in one of three modes, multiplayer, Blackout, and Zombies. Teamwork is the name of the game. Customize your characters, choose your weapons, and then set about seeking victory.
2. Overwatch
Overwatch took the gaming world by storm back in 2016.
It won countless awards for best game of the year. And deservedly so.
As far as addictive FPS hero games go, it doesnât get much better. Thatâs thanks in large part to the vast number of heroes you can choose to control. Each comes with their individual skills, plus an ultimate ability.
The array of characters you can play with leads to a different gaming experience each time. This isnât a game that gathers dust on a shelf when you complete it. Instead, you start again with a new character.
If youâve been gaming for any length of time, then youâve probably come across Overwatch already. If youâre totally new, then youâre going to love what Overwatch has to offer.
3. Tom Clancyâs Rainbow 6 Siege
Tom Clancyâs Rainbow 6 is another classic FPS game-choice for 2019.
Some avid gamers may feel it bears striking similarities to Counter-Strike. However, Rainbow 6 boasts an array of unique selling points that donât disappoint.
This tactical shooter can be played in both single and multi-player. It ranks as one of the top games all over the web. A primary reason for this is the large variety of modes it boasts. From Terrorist Hunt to Secure Area, there are numerous gameplay options to enjoy.
It also provides players with a degree of choice. Far from having a single means of meeting objectives, players can decide the way they go about it. Donât like that wall? Then blow it up! Want a stealthier approach? Rappel down from the roof. Itâs up to you.
Put all the positives together and Rainbow 6 is difficult to beat.
4. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
It would be rude to include Rainbow 6 without giving CS:GO a mention too.
This FPS PC game took the world by storm upon its release. Itâs based upon its predecessor of old. However, itâs been brought up to modern standards in terms of its gameplay. CS is undoubtedly one of the greatest eSport games ever released.
Anyone who is yet to try it should rectify that problem as soon as possible.
5. Farcry 5
Farcry 5 is as good as open world FPSs get.
This is another brand you may already have heard of. It was Farcry 3 that set this franchise up and running as one of the best FPSs out there. Alas, the games that followed didnât live up to expectations.
âŠUntil Farcry 5.
It presents the gamer with a nice blend of novelty and familiarity. Itâs definitely still Farcry, just in nice novel form. You find yourself in a fictional state in southern America, called âHope Countyâ.
We wonât spoil the plotline for you. But rest assured, youâre going to feel full Farcry- aka, without a hope behind enemy lines.
6. BattleField 1
Time to take a step back from the sci-fi, imaginary worlds of aforementioned games.
BattleField 1 places the gamer into an immersive encounter with World War 1. This historical gaming experience is truly exceptional.
Youâll feel like youâre there. Itâs large-scale, real-life, dark and chaotic, in the best way possible.
To play it is to feel immersed in this shocking period of history. Now, the single-player wonât live up to this review. Play it online for best effect. This is where the game comes into its own.
Alas, like all too many games these days, youâll need to pay extra to open up new features (maps and extra content). Pay the money though and you wonât be disappointed.
7. Tom Clancyâs The Division 2
Hereâs another Tom Clancy game that deserves a place on this list.
Ever wonder what Washington DC would look like after an apocalyptic poison outbreak? Nowâs your chance. The graphical recreation of this space is second to none.
Give it a go for a novel style of gameplay. If you want a more realistic approach to another classic FPS like Destiny (hereâs a Destiny 2 LFG, if itâs of interest), then The Division is going to be right up your street.
Time to Purchase the Best Shooter Games
There you have it: 7 of the best shooter games out there right now.
The gaming world is booming right now. A vast majority of people in America now play video games in one way or another.
Of all the games out there, first-person shooters are some of the most popular. However, for every brilliant FPS, there are two awful ones. Hopefully, this article has helped you identify the ones most worth trying next!

Battlefield V's single-player stories are the right way to do war games
youtube
Part of The Verge holiday 2018 gaming guide
Fighting Nazis is timely again, and yet Battlefieldâs return to World War II feels ill-advised. Endless war has taken a toll on this series, and the generals need a new strategy.
Iâll start with some praise. Despite its flaws, Battlefield V is a breathtakingly cinematic game, and it has all of the relentless chaos that fans expect. In my experience playing a press preview of the game, there were only a few bugs (mostly funny ones, like corpses wobbling in midair), and the game retains the seriesâs recent level of polish. Control inputs feel tight and fluid, everything looks really nice, and the user interface is better than ever, which are all real accomplishments. Battlefield V is an unquestionably well-crafted object.
But as I was thinking about this review, I could not escape a strange feeling. Iâve now been playing Battlefield since 2002. Iâve spent thousands of hours playing these games: itâs a weird fact thatâs difficult to reconcile with my personal identity as an adult. A past self decided to love these games, and now Iâm cursed by my mastery of them. At this point, itâs hard to tell whether Iâm playing for enjoyment or routine.
Itâs at least comforting to play the same game over and over, as the movements become rote. Itâs nice when the body and a task become the same thing. (I think this is how games like Battlefield become so abstract: after a while, youâre not holding a gun or fighting Nazis; youâre just responding to patterns and using your limbs effectively.) But this familiarity can also be alienating. A few hours into my multiplayer tour, as the rest of the world faded to the background, I had a genuine out-of-body experience. It was like watching a phantom version of a younger self charging an enemy flag. The sameness of it all made me feel like a passenger. My Battlefield exploits now read more like The Myth of Sisyphus than a medal of honor citation.
Despite my optimism for big changes to the series, developer DICE bluffed its hand. The gameâs âGrand Operationsâ mode strings together multiday battles that are supposed to have continuity, but the consequences of winning or losing a match are minor, like adding a little bit of time to the next round. You have to squint to see how Grand Operations differs from the 16-year-old Conquest mode, and other modes like Breakthrough and Domination donât offer meaningfully different experiences. Battlefield Vâs multiplayer is essentially a lot of the same chaos: capture a point, drive a tank, fly a plane, die, repeat. Character customization and progression are tedious and donât add much to the experience, though I wholeheartedly welcome EAâs confident turn toward inclusiveness. Ultimately, Battlefield is still rock-paper-scissors with explosions â something with exciting moments, but no sense of accomplishment. At least theyâre really nice explosions.
As multiplayer shooters are rapidly evolving with the emergence of differentiated battle royale games, Battlefield is no longer an FPS bellwether. Iâve been playing another recently released WWII game, Post Scriptum, which is made by a team of people who, incidentally, started as Battlefield 2 modders. If Battlefield V is a glistening statue, Post Scriptum is a pile of rocks. Itâs buggy, clunky, and only for people with the patience for an early access game that might never be finished. Itâs also one of the most memorable shooters Iâve played in a while, with moments that I want to run to tell my friends about.
youtube
Post Scriptum is a shooter that lets you do things other than shooting, which I think ought to be the future of every multiplayer game with guns. Its clever trick is using the stakes and atmosphere of a war game to make the non-shooting activities feel genuinely rewarding. Lately, Iâve been obsessed with playing Post Scriptum as Euro Truck Simulator: World War II. As a logistics truck driver, I can ferry supplies to the front line while getting shot at, which lets me be a part of the deadly spectacle of a large-scale battle without killing people. Playing music out of my truck over the gameâs local chat is met with laughs and appreciation. Itâs something I simply canât find in a Battlefield game. Itâs weird. Itâs fun. It makes me smile. I just wish it was made by the artists at DICE.
And then thereâs Battlefield Vâs single-player campaign, which really surprised me. The âWar Storiesâ format, introduced in 2016âs Battlefield 1, is the smartest attempt at single-player storytelling in war games that Iâve seen. I just wish DICE had made more of them. There are only three war stories to play in Battlefield V, with a fourth coming in December. (Battlefield 1 had six.) Each story takes about an hour to complete, and while theyâre hampered by forgettable action sequences, laughable NPC intelligence, and formulaic set pieces, the format still feels like something with great potential.
Instead of playing an untouchable hero who inexplicably massacres hordes of enemies like in so many other shooters, these short stories allow you to be a vulnerable part of warâs death machine, which feels more authentic than getting the costumes right. Battlefield Vâs opening sequence achieves this feeling to stunning effect. When you start the game, you jump between characters in rapid succession, often taking the place of someone who just killed you and continuing the fight from their perspective. The opening whisks you from a nighttime raid to a desert ambush and huge aerial battle. I wish the entire game had been like this.
The War Stories format also cleverly echoes the intangible experience of hearing real war stories told, which often walk the line between real historical accounts and tales stretched tall by time. I was impressed by one Battlefield V story about two brothers from West Africa who were sent to France to fight for a colonial power whose land they had never seen. After native French soldiers took their guns and handed them shovels, they had to overcome the racism of their allies before being allowed to achieve glory in battle â only to see themselves erased from history in the storyâs epilogue. Itâs a tight and powerful single-player story thatâs wrapped in the modern context of a veteran reflecting on his long-secret contribution to history. I wanted more like it.
The âTirailleurâ story could have been the model for a deeply felt war game that elevates neglected heroes into popular historical canon. Weâve had decades of interactive Clint Eastwood movies, and so I appreciate DICEâs attempt to break away from tried-and-true narratives, even if itâs clumsy about expressing them in gameplay. I just wish these stories were the centerpiece of a more complete game, not a context wrapper for multiplayer deathmatches.
If the next Battlefield game only has a collection of untold war stories, I donât think Iâll miss its multiplayer spectacle. After 16 years, Iâm ready for my own war story to end and for others to begin.
Battlefield V is available now on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

Black Friday 2018 deals at Best Buy: OLED TVs, Sonos, Google -- and the best HomePod price ever
New Post has been published on https://www.articletec.com/black-friday-2018-deals-at-best-buy-oled-tvs-sonos-google-and-the-best-homepod-price-ever/
Black Friday 2018 deals at Best Buy: OLED TVs, Sonos, Google -- and the best HomePod price ever
Best Buy
Best Buyâs Black Friday deals have been revealed and there are some good ones available both online and in-store. The big electronics retailerâs official Black Friday sale begins in stores at 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 22) and runs through Black Friday. Its circular highlights a bunch of the deep discounts on tech like TVs, phones, laptops and smart home gear, and while some are marked âin-store only,â some will also be available online. A handful of discounts, including a great deal on the awesome TCL 6 Series Roku 4K TV, are available now (scroll down).
Weâll be highlighting our favorite deals below. Keep in mind:
When the product exists on BestBuy.com weâll link to it below, even if the Black Friday sale price isnât yet available.
While most of these products are from 2018, be aware that some of the discounted products are older models.
Many of the deals are available in other stores; weâll note those below.
CNET may get a share of revenue from the sale of the products featured below.
To the deals!
Apple HomePod for $250 ($100 off)
Tyler Lizenby/CNET
Appleâs awesome-sounding smart speaker has two major knocks: Siri still isnât as good a voice assistant as Alexa and Google, and the $350 price is just too high. This Best Buy discount nicely addresses the second issue, getting it to a much more reasonable $250.Â
This deal will be available in-store on Thanksgiving at 5 p.m. but this price isnât marked âin-store only,â so it could appear at BestBuy.com as well.

55-inch Sharp 4K Roku TV: $250 (save $200)
Best Buy
Doorbuster (in-store only on Black Friday, Nov. 23, limited quantities)
Did we mention Roku TV? A bit bigger in size and just as huge in savings, this Sharp features the best smart TV system for as low as weâve ever seen at this price. We havenât seen the Sharp directly, but the specifications look similar to the 55-inch 55S405 we reviewed in 2017, so expect similar picture quality.
If you donât want to deal with a doorbuster, BestBuy.com has the set listed for $300 right now, which is still a great price.

43-inch Toshiba 4K Amazon Fire Edition TV: $130 (save $150)
Best Buy
Doorbuster (in-store only starting 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, limited quantities)
Going by pure savings, this is arguably the best TV deal at Best Buy for Black Friday 2018. Fire TV isnât not our favorite smart TV system â that honor goes to Roku â but itâs still very good, and this price is pure insanity. The cheapest 43-inch Roku TV, the 43S305, costs $220, and itâs 1080p, not 4K.Â

65-inch LG OLED65C8P OLED TV: $2,600 (save $100)
Sarah Tew/CNET
This year the discounts on LGâs OLED models arenât spectacular. Best Buyâs price on the 65-inch C8, the best TV weâve ever tested, is $100 lower than everyone elseâs however. We still recommend the B8 for $100 less, but if you demand the best picture, period, here you go.
This deal will be available in-store on Thanksgiving at 5 p.m. but this price isnât marked âin-store only,â so it could appear at BestBuy.com as well.

Ring Doorbell 2 + Echo Dot 3rd gen for $140 (save $110)
Best Buy
Doorbuster (Online and in-store starting 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, limited quantities)
Normally $250 for both the Ring 2 and the new Echo Dot, this bundle lets you live the dream of voice-controlled door security â perfect for when that Amazon guy comes knocking.Â
If you want one now, Best Buy has this deal for $200 including the free Dot, a $50 savings. (Amazon will have this deal, too.)

Sony WH-1000XM2 noise-cancelling headphone: $200 (save $150)
Sarah Tew/CNET
Doorbuster (Online and in-store starting 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, limited quantities)
These headphones came out in 2017 but they still remain one of CNETâs favorite wireless noise-canceling headphones. While the Bose QuietComfort 35 II is lighter and more comfortable to wear, the Sony WH-1000XM2 arguably sounds a tad better and offers more features. And this price is insane.

Google Home Hub: $99 (save $50)
Chris Monroe/CNET
Doorbuster (Online and in-store starting 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, limited quantities)
This is Googleâs version of the Amazon Echo Show: a smart speaker with a built-in screen that responds to âOK Googleâ and shows all kinds of useful stuff, from recipes to smart home controls.
This deal is also available at Target, Walmart and elsewhere.

Google Home Mini: $25 (half price)
Chris Monroe/CNET
Doorbuster (Online and in-store starting 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, limited quantities)
Googleâs answer to Amazonâs Alexa is a tiny, always-listening speaker that responds to âOK, Googleâ with everything Google Assistant has to offer. At this price itâs easy to put one in a secondary room.
This deal is also available at Target, Walmart and elsewhere.

Motorola Moto G6: $200 (save $50)
Josh Miller/CNET
This deal is available now at Best Buy.
Our favorite budget phone of 2018 was already a knockout value for $250, but this $200 price is a steal. The unlocked Android handset has dual rear cameras for portrait photos and some nice extra software touches.

Samsung Galaxy S9, Note 9, S9 Plus: Save $300

Available online and in-store starting Thanksgiving, Nov. 22. Requires activation on AT&T, Sprint or Verizon.
T-Mobile customers wonât be able to benefit from any of Best Buyâs offers, but $300 off any of Samsungâs premium phones is a pretty good deal. The deal requires a qualified activation, and exact pricing on the phones appear to vary based on the carrier.

Google Pixel 3 or 3 XL: Save $200

iPad Mini 4: $250 (save $150)
Sarah Tew/CNET
Doorbuster (Online and in-store starting 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, limited quantities)
This iPad is from 2016, and this 128GB version with Wi-Fi is the cheapest available on Appleâs site, but it costs $400 there â making this a pretty sweet deal. We still prefer the new, larger 32GB iPad at Target for the same price, but maybe you want your screen smaller and your storage bigger.

MacBook Air (2017 model): $800 (save $200)
Sarah Tew/CNET
Doorbuster (Online and in-store starting 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, limited quantities)
The new MacBook Air starts at $1,200 and this older version sells for $1,000 at Appleâs website, so the savings is substantial. This is the base configuration with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM and a Core i5 processor. It goes on sale pretty frequently, but this is still the lowest price weâve seen.

Sad goodbyes and compromise - An introduction
So after many years of working full time during the day and playing Xbox during the evening, my girlfriend suggested that I get out of my south London comfort zone and go travelling with her. Now to answer your immediate question, no I did not give her the boot. I packed up my Xbox One, gave it to a good friend (for safekeeping) who hadn't yet bought a next gen console and embarked on my 14 month trip. The original plan was to live and work in Sydney, Australia for 9 months, then travel across Oz, New Zealand, the US and Canada. 18 months later I'm living and working in Wellington, New Zealand as we quickly realised we'd need to work for longer to fund our trip.
Have I been completely deprived of gaming in that time? Of course not. What do you take me for? The only piece of hardware I took with me was my 2012 MacBook Pro, a less than ideal gaming platform. I downloaded several of the Total War series to keep me going. I got really into the 17th century setting and line infantry style of Napoleon TW and Empire TW and put a lot of time into the wonderful Shogun 2 TW. However, it was February 2016 and the release of Dark Souls 3 loomed on the horizon.
I've been a fan of the series for a while and I knew I had to find a way to play it. A console purchase seemed unwise as I knew I'd be moving on in the not so distant future. So I looked over DS3's system requirements on Steam and decided that was my best option. I purchased a Dualshock 4, upgraded my RAM and bootcamped my MacBook, all the while knowing it might end in tears and wasted money. But it didn't. I was able to play through DS3, battling Lothric's toughest foes as well as some horrendous frame drops that would kick me into offline mode. I got to play it and after 230 hours I was happy, despite the game's lukewarm narrative. Knowing my Mac's capabilities I played through Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2 and Fallout New Vegas again and was satisfied. But then I started thinking about what I missed about having a console. I'd missed out on the release of Overwatch and Battlefield 1 and I longed for the carnage of Los Santos International Airport that I would frequent regularly with my pals.
After deciding that we would be staying in Wellington for at least another year I decided to set aside some cash and treat myself to a new console. I fought off the temptation to buy a Nintendo Switch and settled on buying a Playstation 4. I remain keen on a Switch but I think Iâll wait until the lineup of titles is a bit more fleshed out. I could have easily bought another Xbox One but went for the PS4 in the end for one reason. Exclusives. I did some shopping around and found a bundle I liked the look of. A 1TB PS4 Slim with Mass Effect Andromeda and a choice of two additional games from a group of six. I selected the Bloodborne Game of the Year edition (easy choice) and The Last Guardian, a game that i knew little about but whoâs aesthetic had caught my eye.
So this my situation. Iâd like to keep a little weekly journal of what Iâve been playing as well as giving my thoughts on games as I finish them. As many of these games are years old at this point Iâd like to think these are more second opinions than reviews. I hope you enjoy.
