O palhaço mirim não se demorou muito para colocar o terror nas ruas de Gotham, roubando, ferindo e vandalizando a cidade, mas o que levou mesmo ele a aparecer nos jornais locais, foi o ataque que fez ao cinema.

Em uma tentativa de chamar a atenção de seu pai, ele infecta uma sala inteira de cinema com uma variação do gás do riso que faz todos se tornarem violentos e começarem a se agredir. Enquanto observava tudo da sala de projeção, ele era surpreendido pelo Robin, Damian Wayne, Spoiler e o namorado de Timothy.

Uma pequena luta ocorre entre os três, mas após ter fortes dores de cabeça e ouvir a voz de Tim na sua mente tentando retomar o controle, ele foge dali.

Sem saber a quem recorrer o jovem vai até sua mãe pensando que ela o ajudaria a encontrar seu pai, mas depois de ajudar ela em uma missão e perceber que ela estava do lado dos morcegos se sentiu traído, mas agora sabia onde seu pai estava, estava preso no Arkaham. Tudo que precisava fazer era invadir o local e recuperar seu pai novamente.

"Você nunca vai conseguir, eu não irei permitir."

A voz de Timothy ecoava na cabeça do palhaço o perturbando mais ainda e após bolar seu plano para invadir o Arkaham é parado no caminho pelo próprio Batman. Sem hesitar, o garoto ataca o morcego, mas a dor de cabeça aumenta e flashbacks da memória de Tim vem em sua cabeça, quando retoma a consciência, percebe que estava preso em uma cadeira na BatCaverna.

Tenta se soltar em vão, grita e ofende o mais velho sem parar, sabendo o que estava por vim.

— EU VOU VOLTAR, VOCÊS NUNCA VÃO SE LIVRAR DE MIM, EU VOU MATAR TODOS VOCÊS!

Então o morcego injeta um antídoto de cor azul no pescoço do garoto e quando o mesmo acorda, já não era mais o palhaço e sim Tim e dessa vez, somente ele.

— Pa-pai...

O garoto chama por seu pai adotivo e seus olhos se enchem de lágrimas ao lembrar das maldades que o Joker Jr. cometeu.

Double Bill: Years Where A Director Made Multiple Movies - Part 1

It doesn’t happen very often, but every now and again, a film director releases multiple films in a singular year. Whilst sometimes it can be as simple as a film being held back for a period of time, other times it can be an example of a director having an amazingly productive year (yes, a slight sound of envy there). Curious about how often it happens, I decided to look back at some favourite directors and their release periods, quickly finding a surprising list of examples.

Because of that, I thought I’d do a couple of articles naming some examples, how both films performed and the comparisons between the two. They may also be a good opportunity for some unique movie marathon sessions?

One of the first I found was an Oliver Stone double bill from 1986, with James Woods starring in Salvador as an American photojournalist covering the Salvadoran Civil War, and Charlie Sheen in the classic Platoon, a near-autobiographical depiction of the Vietnam war as inspired by Stone’s own experiences. The two movies do have similarities in terms of focusing on an outsider trying to survive in a foreign war, Woods’ journalist more experienced in comparison to Sheen’s novice soldier. Interestingly, both films were a struggle to get made until Stone met British film producer John Daly, who agreed to finance both.

Salvador was commercially unsuccessful yet netted Woods an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, and Best Screenplay for Stone and Richard Boyle, but paled in comparison to Platoon, where it was a critical and financial success, with Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay again (this time solo for Stone), and Best Supporting Actor for both Willem Dafoe and Tom Berenger, and victories for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Sound. As a double bill, they offer fascinating depictions of introduction to foreign war, and are unflinching in the true horrors that exist.

Thirteen years later, Joel Schumacher was recovering from the critical bashing of Batman and Robin, and attempted a double bill comeback in 1999. The first was a Nicholas Cage-starring crime thriller called 8MM, and the second was a surprisingly smaller character based drama called Flawless, which featured Robert De Niro and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The interesting element was the realisation that despite the issues with Batman and Robin, Schumacher still had the ability to interest two of the bigger dramatically respected actors in the world at the time. Both films put the focus on the actors, with Cage a classic noir private investigator, while De Niro played a security guard dealing with a stroke, demonstrating his tough man style with a vulnerability from his conversations with drag queen Rusty, played by Hoffman.

These two films seem an interesting double bill to watch when taking into consideration Batman and Robin, as both films are scaled back in comparison and demonstrate Schumacher’s ability with actors. 

Finally, we have Sidney Lumet, one of the most respected film directors of the last hundred years and his work from 1973. That year, Lumet directed two films that focused on police officers but from two different perspectives. The first is the British-based The Offence, while the second is the American-based Serpico.

The latter is the better known of the films, focusing on the real life tale of New York city based undercover police officer Frank Serpico, played by Al Pacino and dealing with the corrupt actions of his colleagues, eventually testifying against them. A widescale Crime Drama, Serpico is remembered for over 100 speaking parts and locations, as well as encompassing eleven years during Serpico’s time with the police force.

In comparison, The Offence is a much smaller and more intimate piece, focusing on interviews / interrogations between Sean Connery’s detective Johnson and his wife Maureen, Detective Superintendent Cartwright, and suspected child molester Kenneth Baxter. Despite both films dealing with the main character struggling with the world they inhabit, The Offence focuses more on a character committing a crime whereas Serpico revolves around an incorruptible hero.

However, what both films achieve are some of the best performances from both actors. This was one of Connery’s first major roles after finishing with the James Bond role, demonstrating a depth he rarely got to exhibit, while Pacino won a Golden Globe for his subtly intense somberness. Lumet was regularly credited for bringing out some actors best performances, so this double bill offers a fascinating depiction of the complex emotions for police officers.

"Rhino", created by Alan Grant, John Wagner, and Norm Breyfogle was voiced by Earl Boen and first appeared in Detective Comics #583 as Frederick Rhino with a sister, Moose.

Batman: The Animated Series-Nicknamed for his hulking size and a tattoo on his right arm, Rhino joined the Ventriloquist's gang. When his sleeve was partially ripped in a robbery, Batman was able to identify him by the tattoo and confronted him. Rhino didn't tell him anything, but afterwards rushed to Scarface, revealing the villain's identity to Batman.

Rhino worked for the Ventriloquist on a number of occasions, first when Scarface planned a series of heists with clockwork precision, and later when the boss enlisted Catwoman to help steal Veronica Vreeland's rare stuffed animals. On both these occasions, Rhino's raw power was unable to beat Batman's finesse.

The Adventures of Batman & Robin-Recently, when the Ventriloquist was released from Arkham Asylum with a clean bill of health, Mugsy and Rhino waited for Scarface to emerge. When it turned out that he wouldn't, however, they hired Hips McManus to impersonate Scarface and resurrect the gang. However, the real Scarface was upset with them because he was only playing dead until the heat was off, but their antics forced him to come out too early and he attempted to kill them. Batman and Batgirl saved them and sent them to Stonegate Penitentiary.

I always knew this Nick Fury cover by Jim Steranko (1968) was influenced by Salvador Dali’s famous painting, The Persistence of Memory (1931), but it looks like it was also inspired by this DC cover by Jim Mooney (pencils) and John Giunta (inks) from 1948. Note Dali’s face on the clock sneering down at Robin.

Fiquei em choque se ereto já tava apanhado desse jeito imagina se amolecesse?

Ela vai me asfixiar no travesseiro e reanimar com desfibrilador no meu brioco.

Tentei manter a calma mas era inevitável, já tava apanhando mais que talarico em cela de traficante. Sofrendo mais que corno ouvindo Amado Batista na jukebox do boteco tomando bavária.

De repente num ato de tesão e desespero eu virei ela com as costas pra cama foi, meio Ippon.

Ai vara vai, soco vem.

Parecia que eu tava atuando em Brasileirinhas, dirigido por Tarantino!

Pedia tapa na cara. Não curto muito essas brisas, mas se não batesse, era eu que apanhava.

Comecei a tomar uns tapa mais violentos, e a mão da desalmada era leve feito um saco de cimento.

Sometimes, Bruce wonders if it’s worth it, being Batman. The never-ending fight, the lack of sleep, the injuries. It’s not easy, and some days he feels the strain more than others.

Like yesterday and today. Yesterday was shaping up to be a normal, average night, with normal, average villains causing normal, average trouble. Then, Robin sent him a video during patrol. He ignored it, because the caption was five laughing emojis and Bruce was dangling one of Penguin’s goons off a roof at the time to figure out what exactly the bird wanted with far too much plutonium.

And then he received, over the course of a few hours, videos from Barry, Hal, Diana, Oliver, and a few other JL members, all of which had similar captions. It is, at this point, now looking back on it, that Bruce realizes he should have known something was up. He should have known not to ignore the messages. But it was a long night, and Bruce Wayne had a long day coming up, and he just wanted some dinner, a shower, and his bed.

That morning he awoke to Alfred’s pancakes and a headache. The headache is normal. Pancakes are not. Pancakes herald bad news. He digs in with a sigh. There is no way he is asking what this omen is about until after he’s eaten at least one of them. And has his coffee.

“Good morning, Master Bruce.”

From his warm, comfortable bed, Bruce peers suspiciously at Alfred, “Is it?”

With his usual nonchalance, Alfred smiles blandly, “Yes.”

And then he leaves.

Bruce is left to contemplate his pancakes in growing confusion. The sun is warm on his bare legs. He doesn’t have a meeting for another hour. Alfred apparently thinks it’s a good morning.

The pancakes sit, unassumingly, along with a growing pit of concern. This can only mean two things: either one, the kids have done something Alfred finds amusing but that Bruce will hate, or two, someone has done something in the news that Bruce will hate and have to deal with.

Damn it, he thinks, mind already whirling as he flings his arm out for his phone, it’s the videos, it has to be.

It is indeed the videos.

Clark, as Superman, is on Tiktok, an app Damian has been banned from using while in costume, dancing. To Bruce’s rising horror, each video he opens is a different video. Clark has made at least ten of these catastrophes. The one named Breakin’ ends in a handstand that would be impressive if Clark weren’t literally Superman. He opens Disco Fever but closes out of the video as quickly as possible. Even Bruce, an actual billionaire, is not paid enough to watch Clark do that. At least the Electro Shuffle just looks like Clark is messing around with his feet. Watching Clark on the video called Fresh, Bruce wonders idly if this is worse than some of the Joker’s torture schemes. The Pop Lock video probably is, to be honest. Apparently, someone is helping Clark with these videos, because in the Rock Out video, Clark is pretending to strum an actual guitar, painted red and green. The last time Bruce checked Clark did not own a guitar.

His eyes narrow. Damian has a guitar. Damian has a very distinct paint job on his guitar as well.

Bruce refuses to reply to any of the messages and instead finishes his coffee.

It’s only been about twenty minutes from the time Alfred had opened his blinds. It feels like it’s been a small eternity. Frankly, Bruce is surprised Clark hasn’t contacted him. This seems like the kind of thing Clark would have tried to rope him into.

He sends Clark a text and then goes to get ready for another day as Bruce Wayne.

By the time Alfred has bundled him into the car, Clark has sent him something from the Daly Planet, written, unsurprisingly, by Clark Kent. The headline says, “Superman Connects with Youth” and Bruce doesn’t even bother to read the rest. He lets his phone drop to the seat and tilts his head back. It’s not even nine yet.

Hopefully, the Wayne Enterprises Board will just assume he’s hungover and not experiencing a stress-induced migraine. He puts on sunglasses to sell the look and restrains himself from sticking his tongue out at Alfred when he sees a smile flicker across the older man’s face. It’s going to be a long day.

When Batman drives into the cave, he notices lights first, and then, as he rounds the corner, the bright red of Superman’s cape. He’s dancing again, and for some reason in the cave.

Bruce doesn’t think he’s experienced a lot of road rage in his life, but the urge to hit Clark, and Robin, who is dancing right along with Superman, is almost impossible to resist. He breathes in and reminds himself he has enough willpower to take a ring from Green Lantern. He can resist wrecking the batmobile against Clark’s back even as the alien grips one ankle and seems to seize in midair.

He can resist.

“If you were the one that showed Superman that website,” Bruce starts, hopping out of the batmobile to check the monitors, “we are going to have a talk.”

Damien puts his hands up and shakes his head, grinning, “Nope! It was Superboy!”

Clark turns pleading eyes on him and begins to tell Bruce why it’s so important for them to connect with today’s generation and, as chair of the JL, Superman has this duty above all others, but Bruce cuts him off with “the last thing I want to hear is why you’re doing this. Just leave me out of it.”

They definitely high five when Bruce turns back to the monitors.

Something tells him this isn’t about connecting with the “youth” and is more about seeing what they can get away with while Bruce is on monitor duty.

Damien shouts excitedly and Bruce wonders if his headache will go away tomorrow.

“Supes! Your first video just hit fifty million views!”

There’s the distinct sound of a high five behind Batman.

He sighs quietly through his nose. The headache is definitely not going away any time soon.

The Muppet Show

It’s adorable puppets making corny jokes and singing with celebrities,it’s just delightful and brings a smile to my face  

Whats My  Line 

This is my go to  “I am feeling bad and wanna watch something” show.This 50′s game show’s basic premise is the panel must guess the occupation of the guest,and in the case of the mystery guest .I love the panel,I love the host John Daly, and I love this snapshot of what America was like in the 50′s and 60′s.Plus it’s just fun to see the celeb guests goofing around with silly voices and the panel being stumped by people who were obscure back then but to me arent like Colonel Sanders or Clerence “Ducky”Nash AKA Donald Duck.If you havent seen it  show is on youtube 

The Simpsons

Going mostly by the early seasons,but this show still has some gems .This is one of those shows that me and my brother qouted a lot.It’s a show that is not only hilarious but there are moments that are so darn sweet .It’s also the first show  I collected on DVD 

Batman

When I got this show  on DVD I watched the heck out of it.I know for whatever reason there is still a backlash to this show,but I love it .It’s colorful,its funny,the actors are giving it their all and it feels like a goofy silver age comic book .It is still my favorite live action interpertation of Batman 

Star Trek

I love the main trio,I love the speeches ,I love the rubber monsters,I love the hammy acting and I love the ambition of it .Some things havent aged well but overall this is a good show that makes me feel good watching it

Courage the Cowardly Dog

In between all the monsters and villains are some legit sweet moments .Of the cartoons I grew up with Courage has stayed with me and inspired me the most 

Teen Titans

Had to include a superhero cartoon  and the one that made me feel the most is Teen Titans .It’s the one that had to work the hardest for me  ,as aside from Robin....I didnt know who any of these characters were ,I didnt know their orgins  ,I didnt know their villains ,I didnt know what their deal was ......And the strength of the show is it made me love ALL five of them and made them five of my favorite super heroes.I love seeing them evolve,their dynamics,their backstories ,the villains they face .It’s funny,it;s sweet ,and the characters just keep me coming back

Las películas más esperadas en la cuarentena

Algunos de los estrenos que más ansiamos en este año cargado de  conflictos en el mundo audiovisual.

Rodajes pospuestos, otros cancelados; estrenos que debieron hacer malabares con sus fechas u optar por otra modalidad,  volcándose directamente a los servicios de streaming sin hacerlo antes por las salas.

Pero más allá de las dificultades y cambios radicales en el mundo cinematográfico, los espectadores atraviesan la cuarentena en distintos lugares del mundo esperando con ansias una gran cantidad de películas prometedoras. 

Mientras nos adaptamos a la “nueva normalidad” podemos acercarnos a los trailers de algunos de los filmes más esperados del año. Lo cierto es, que por más que tarde en llegar, e incluso con aquella incertidumbre respecto a las fechas, el hype será el mismo (o aún más!). 

1. TENET 

Christopher Nolan vuelve a la pantalla grande luego de Dunkirk, la gran película bélica llena de características propias del director de la trilogía de Batman, o de los clásicos instantáneos como Interstellar e Inception. La trama de TENET (2020) está más cargada de incógnitas que de respuestas; en palabras de la sinopsis oficial, el film es “Una acción épica que gira en torno al espionaje internacional, los viajes en el tiempo y la evolución, en la que un agente secreto debe prevenir la Tercera Guerra Mundial”.

2. THE FRENCH DISPATCH (La Crónica Francesa)

Wes Anderson, el director que abraza la simpleza dentro de la ambición escénica, regresa con una película que tiene de protagonistas a un grupo de escritores y periodistas franceses, encargados de producir un nuevo número de la revista “The French Dispatch”. La lista de las figuras importantes que forman parte del elenco, es prácticamente interminable. Dentro de sus protagonistas pueden encontrarse los ganadores del oscar Frances McDormand (Fargo, Three Billboards), Tilda Swinton (Michael Clayton), Benicio Del Toro (Traffic), Christoph Waltz (Django, Inglourious Basterds), y otras estrellas como Timothée Chalamet, Léa Seydoux y  Saoirse Ronan.

7. WONDER WOMAN 1984

La secuela de Wonder Woman, nos trae otra vez a Diana Prince (Gal Gadot). 

Esta vez el tiempo rodea a la heroína de DC, serán los ´80, cargados de música, luces y detalles característicos de esta época tan querida y buscada por el cine en la actualidad. En el film, la protagonista actúa como una espía durante la Guerra Fría y dentro de lo que se sabe, podremos ver a la heroína enfrentarse a la villana Cheetah, interpretada por Kristin Wiig.

En los últimos años, las películas de terror fueron unas de las más elegidas al momento de ser reversionadas, o llevadas a una amplia cantidad de secuelas. Preciso desabafar!😔 Comecei a sair com uma mina e nosso relacionamento era perfeito Tipo Batman e Robin, Jay e Beyoncé, Velho barreiro e engov. Eu sempre levava álcool e cigarro, ela, as comidas (sem trocadilho). Estava tudo indo perfeitamente lindo até a hora que decidimos transar. Depois de falar várias safadagens no whats, marcamos. A noite era perfeita. Naquele clima transante, jazz ao fundo, janela aberta, lua cheia, um vinho de canto e meio maço ao lado. E aquela beldade de um metro e meio (minha coluna até chora quando lembra dela, cada envergada pra beija-la era um bico de papagaio no espinhaço). A gente lá se beijando e foi esquentando, fomos nos despindo e vrau!!! Ela estilo mulher maravilha, de bota calcinha e sutiã. Eu tipo Sonic, só de meia e tênis. Por incrível que pareça sou um cara tímido pessoalmente, e também sou bem de boas no bate virilha. E ela era linda, rosto angelical, black imenso, piercing, tatuagem, cara de aluna cdf. Mas é aquele ditado né: Quem vê cara não vê tesão acumulado. E durante o beijo num lance de 3 segundos ela incorporou José Aldo e me jogou na cama numa pegada mais agressiva e eu não entendi o que tava acontecendo Ali começou a baixaria... Ela me deu um tapa na cara e eu estranhei. Deu outro! Questionei: Que porra é essa, lazarenta!? Ela começou a gritar umas sacanagens em tons de ameaça. Eu já tava na duvida se iria transar ou ser interrogado, era uma mistura de Bruna surfistinha com Capitão Nascimento. Eu tão assustado que nem sabia onde tava o Baiano. E mano, eu comecei a sair do clima e o Juca querendo arriar a bateria. Fiquei em choque se ereto já tava apanhado desse jeito imagina se amolecesse? Ela vai me asfixiar no travesseiro e reanimar com desfibrilador no meu brioco. Tentei manter a calma mas era inevitável, já tava apanhando mais que talarico em cela de traficante. Sofrendo mais que corno ouvindo Amado Batista na jukebox do boteco tomando bavária. De repente num ato de tesão e desespero eu virei ela com as costas pra cama foi, meio Ippon. Ai vara vai, soco vem. Parecia que eu tava atuando em Brasileirinhas, dirigido por Tarantino! Pedia tapa na cara. Não curto muito essas brisas, mas se não batesse, era eu que apanhava. Comecei a tomar uns tapa mais violentos, e a mão da desalmada era leve feito um saco de cimento. Pra evitar os hematomas e eu não sair de lá mais roxo que o Barney, tive a brilhante ideia de abraça-la Doido, a bicha cravou as unhas nas minhas costas e foi descendo as costelas tirando uns meio kg de coro. Parecia que eu fui atacado por uma harpia. Não bastando os vergão e retaliação, a abençoada mordeu meu peito numa voracidade que ficou a marca umas três semanas, parecia um terceiro mamilo. Dei um berro tão grande, meio grave desafinando pro agudo, parecia o Tarzan gripado. Eu não sabia o que fazer!!! A mina tava possuída pelo Satanás do cama Sutra. Meu corpo falava: Reaja! Minha cabeça gritava: METE O PÉ! O Juca pedindo substituição. A gente no segundo andar eu não sabia se escalava pro terceiro ou se pulava dali mesmo. Minha pressão subindo o Juca dando pane, suor pingando, a asma atacando, tava pior que jogador de várzea, já tinha atuado em todas as posições e nada de gol! Não sou muito religioso, mas nessa hora foquei num pai nosso(perdoe me a blasfêmia), e depois de jogar os dois tempos mais a prorrogação quase indo pros pênaltis, cabeciei na área e teile... Igual aquela série O.C, Um Estranho no Paraíso. A sensação de segurança e dever cumprido. Fui ao banheiro. Tranquei a porta. Lavei o rosto pra disfarçar a cara de choro. Deu dois minutos... Escuto de fundo... Mozão volta pro segundo Round 😳 ( Estou tentando escapar pela janela do Banheiro😟).

Comecei a sair com uma mina e nosso relacionamento era perfeito

Tipo Batman e Robin, Jay e Beyoncé,

Velho barreiro e engov.

Eu sempre levava álcool e cigarro, ela, as comidas (sem trocadilho). Estava tudo indo perfeitamente lindo até a hora que decidimos transar.

Depois de falar várias safadagens no whats, marcamos.

A noite era perfeita.

Naquele clima transante, jazz ao fundo, janela aberta, lua cheia, um vinho de canto e meio maço ao lado.

E aquela beldade de um metro e meio (minha coluna até chora quando lembra dela, cada envergada pra beija-la era um bico de papagaio no espinhaço).

A gente lá se beijando e foi esquentando, fomos nos despindo e vrau!!! Ela estilo mulher maravilha, de bota calcinha e sutiã. Eu tipo Sonic, só de meia e tênis.

Por incrível que pareça sou um cara tímido pessoalmente, e também sou bem de boas no bate virilha.

A sensação de segurança e dever cumprido.

Lavei o rosto pra disfarçar a cara de choro.

Hoje assisti ao trailer de Gotham Knights, próximo game da Warner Bros, e fiquei fascinada.
