And the way he joins the hug and they begin giggling as she attempts to ward him off - it pulled at my heartstrings and Etta knows these two idiots are unstoppable. Since the reveal of Rosey’s true identity she’s been showing a more caring side of her personality. The way in which she performs acts of service for Elvis are less of an act and proving to be her love language. She’s quick to shut the door on Dr. Nick’s face because she knows the medicine is no good for him. Him resting on her boobs and calling them pillows, I mean, is he wrong? The bathtub scene in itself is a complete godsend Marina, truly, from beginning, middle, to end I was enraptured with these two and their love and the way they understand one another beyond words spoken. The way Elvis contemplates death because he sees no goodness awaiting him and he only imagines himself bring Rosey and those he loves down, but Rosey would be no better off without him. She leaves him no question to doubt that she would do nothing but surely follow him in to an early grave. The way they both know they won’t survive a month separated without having moments to themselves and neither one of them try to deny it. He only tried rejecting because he doesn’t want to hurt her but Rosey assures him she can trusts him and is doing amazing to show him the parts of her that have been hidden away for too long because people are cruel and take all the good in a person that they can find. She’s showing him she can be nurturing and she can be trusting, she can be soft and she can be open and she can be a person, not a cold imitation of one. And every time she does this, he trusts her a little more because he isn’t the only one laying his heart out - she is too and I think this shows clearly when he doesn’t immediate shut her down after she questions if he is excited seeing her as a boy. For a man at that time to not take offense or become angry or strike her down proves trust, at least it did for me and it seemed pivotal in him now choosing to go forward with her forgiving her past lies. These two are a unit and they are strong yet murderous, gentle yet harsh, loving yet cruel, and there souls connect and intervene and allow an understanding that has never been done before. She allowed him to see some of the hurt and anger she carries at her own sister, his past lover, and that takes strength and cruelty and love too. Someone commented that the kiss in the bath tub is like a christening, they rise up new, and that has stuck with me and I believe that because they resurface with open hearts and minds. A unit of two who can overcome anything as long as they have each other. Simply put, it was beautiful and everything it needed to be. Marina, you should know by now I will shower you with love and gratitude because your writing to us is a generous gift of the utmost of talents.
