Prolific Painter: Color Runs Rampant at This California Cabin in the Woods
realtor.com
This home hidden among the redwood trees is a private oasis near the Russian River in Sonoma County. Quite apart from its beautiful locale, the residence has also served as a colorful canvas for a local artist.
The 1,078-square-foot home on Old River Road sits on almost 2 acres in Forestville, CA. It’s currently listed for $625,000, after debuting on the market for $649,000 in May.
“It’s perched up in elevation. You’ve got a real kind of winding driveway to the home, and when you’re up there with all the redwood trees, it’s like you’re sitting up in a birdhouse,” says the listing agent, Julia Sullivan. “It’s so beautiful. All you see are trees.”
The home is about an hour north of San Francisco and close to the wine country in Santa Rosa and other parts of Sonoma County.
“You have no neighbors around you. You just get the feeling of serenity and privacy up there, yet you’re just minutes away from stores and restaurants and city life,” Sullivan explains.

This is the second time in about four years that Sullivan has worked to sell this house. When she sold it to the current owner in 2016, it had neutral colors. Not anymore.
“The house is owned by a local artist, as you can see from all the painting on the walls and murals she did,” Sullivan says. “She told me she felt that the colorful walls made the home feel brighter than just the cream-colored walls that were there when she bought it.”
The walls in both of the bedrooms are colorful, and one has private access to the yard. The carpet is new and bright in each of the bedrooms, as well as throughout other parts of the house.

There are two full bathrooms.
“Although they’re very clean, and everything is operable, the bathrooms could use some updating,” Sullivan explains.

The same goes for the kitchen.
“[The owner] actually updated the kitchen cabinets herself. She found an old bedroom dresser and refurbished it into kitchen cabinets, and then stained them,” Sullivan says.

A spiral staircase connects the floors, and an upstairs loft area could serve as a third bedroom or an office.
“It’s windowed and skylighted, and it does kind of look down on the living room. It’s really a cool additional space,” Sullivan says.

The home was built in 1961, and for the area, the distinctive interior paint scheme isn’t too far outside the norm.
“The whole Russian River area is very eccentric, it’s very artsy, its residents are known to be a little different, like this,” Sullivan explains.
“It’s just the kind of funky home that you run into over and over and over again out there.”
There is an outbuilding and an extensive deck that is perfect for wildlife viewing.
“You sit out on those decks and deer come by,” Sullivan says, adding that the owner has also seen eagles, foxes, raccoons, and possums.

Sullivan explains that the recent price adjustment is an attempt to get one of the many people who are coming to see the house to make an offer.
“It’s a unique property, looking for just the right buyer who can appreciate the murals—or if they don’t, at least have the ability to see beyond them if it’s not their style,” Sullivan says.
“It’s just paint. The house has great bones, with space.”

Fully Furnished $27M Lakefront Mansion Is Idaho’s Most Expensive Home
realtor.com
A huge lakefront mansion in Coeur d’Alene, ID, has landed on the market for the first time. With an asking price of $27 million, the custom home known as Copper Rock Estate is now Idaho’s most expensive home.
“It’s an entirely new market segment in North Idaho. Nothing like this has ever gone on the market,” says the listing agent, Greg Rowley, adding that the term “trophy home” can now be applied to about half a dozen large, high-end homes clustered around Coeur d’Alene Lake.
Rowley says this luxe residence is a standout, given how recently it was built.
“There are not that many trophy homes that are modern mountain, lodge-style homes that are newer construction,” he says.
Built in 2012, the home covers 8,731 square feet and includes almost 30 acres of waterfront on Mica Bay. It also offers over 700 feet of sandy beach frontage.
On the lake, Rowley explains, “A lot of the shoreline is steep and rocky.” Locations “where you can walk out to sand,” he says, “are pretty rare and sought-after.”

The main house has four bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and high-end finishes throughout. Rowley says the La Cornue stove in the kitchen is worth about $80,000 alone. Highlights include imported timbers and handpicked stones.
“It’s got some things you just don’t see, a very intentional use of unique materials,” he says.
Luxury entertainment features include a wine cellar, a full gym, game room, bar area, and an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven.
For a buyer who wants to slide right into luxury without worrying about decor or design choices, this is a prime opportunity.
“It’s not just being sold furnished, it’s being sold fully equipped,” Rowley notes. In addition to all the decor and furnishings, a buyer will also acquire kayaks, canoes, ATVs, and paddle boards.
“It’s being sold well beyond furnished,” says the agent.
The only item not included in the sale price is the boat on the two-slip dock, but the watercraft is also subject to negotiation. Rowley says a buyer will probably want the boat—after all, it’s the primary method of transportation around the lake.

“One thing that’s really neat about Lake Coeur d’Alene is there are 13 restaurants you can get to by boat,” Rowley says.
“In the summer, you don’t ever need start your car once you get to the house. You can get to town, you can get to the grocery store, you can get to several restaurants—all by boat.”
Many rooms in the home have lake views, and the home has a enviable indoor/outdoor flow, thanks to retractable glass walls.
The primary bedroom has a fireplace, and the attached bathroom a soaking tub and walk-in shower. The walk-in closet in the suite is enormous.

There’s also a guesthouse with two bedrooms, as well as a caretaker’s house with a couple of bedrooms above the boat storage area.
The seller has used the estate as a vacation home, and Rowley expects that the new owner is likely to follow suit. The town of Coeur d’Alene really comes to life in the summer, he says.
“With the unique combination of world-class golf resorts, perfect water temperature, clean air, clean water, [and] a perfect elevation of 2,600 feet above sea level,” Rowley says, the spot is a prime destination, adding, “And we don’t tend to have bugs here in the summer.”
There’s a small airstrip in town, and the airport in Spokane, WA, is about 45 minutes away. Highway access is close to the house.
For a wealthy buyer in search of ultimate lakefront luxury, this Idaho mansion makes perfect sense.
