heyyy, since you said youd like to tell me more about that japanese occupation thing, i am here requesting anything else about it just cuz you seem to have lots of fun explaining it!! :3
1940s : a filipino perspective
∘₊✧ ─── • ✧ • ───✧ ₊∘
oh my god !!!
thank you SO much for this ask!!!
alr alr i'll actually get started now
TWS: blood, war, injury, bombings, rape, murder, general war-crime stuff, HEAVY torture
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ 1941: the start of fear
japan, aspiring to unite the countries in asia into the greater east asia co-prosperity sphere, called GEACOPS for short, had occupied manchuria already by the 1940s, and the philippines was the next thing japan wanted.
but the philippines was already occupied and colonized by the americans -- so this lead to the famous bombing of pearl harbour on december 7, 1941. in my textbook, here's an excerpt of the news in the honolulu star bulletin:
this was very strategic, as this was the largest american military base in the pacific, therefore cancelling out america disrupting japan's takeover as they were recovering from the bombing.
USAFFE (united states armed forces in the far east) were an army of filipino and american soldiers organized by general douglas macarthur, but were no match for the japanese forces. marching from north and southeast, the japanese moved toward manila and occupied the city.
an account of the pearl harbour bombing in the philippines by lourdes reyes montinola states:
on december 8, 1941, feast of the immaculate conception, we were on our way to church when news of the bombing of pearl harbour came. that same evening, a piercing siren warned us of an aerial attack--the first of a hundred we were to experience. we crouched in fear as the enemy dropped the first bombs, and our defenders fired anti-aircraft guns . . .
we remained unaware of impending tragedy until the day manila was declared an open city. we did not realize how bad things were going to be until we saw enemy soldiers carrying white flags with the red sun slowl passing through taft avenue . . . soon after, our house was commandeered by the japanese as were many other residences on vito cruz and taft avenue . . .
general macarthur declared manila an open city on december 26, 1941, which means it has been abandoned by its defenders. the japanese invaders, however, continued bombing, until vital installations and buildings of manila were gone. on new year's day 1941, USAFFE retreated into the hills and forest of bataan in the west, foreshadowing an even which will eventually be called the most inhuman atrocity in world war ii -- the bataan death march.
in the afternoon before christmas day, december 24, 1941 amid heavy bombings in the city the national government headed by quezon* and osmeña* were evacuated to the island fortress of corregidor. secretary of justice jose abad santos, general basilio valdes, and colonel manuel nieto were with them. manila was left under the care of jose p. laurel, the acting chief justice and the city mayor, jorge vargas. at the malinta tunnel in corregidor, quezon and osmeña took their oath for their second term as president and vice president of the philippine commonwealth*. after a few days the group left for australia and then for the united states.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ surrender and the open city
moving on to the horrific death march in bataan, soldiers were imprisoned by the japanese. but with no provisions, they were then ordered to walk to camp o'donnel, a concetration camp in capas, tarlac, and their march reached a whopping total of 126 kilometers.
but before that could happen, first, on april 9th, 1942, the 75,000 strong USAFFE soldiers in bataan laid down their arms, surrendering to the japanese. may 6th, 1942, the last remaining stronghold, corregidor, was also surrendered by general wainwright.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ the horrors of bataan
to understand the terrible nature of this event, you must understand that no one had water. no one had food. no town could offer the dehydrated, starving filipino and american soldiers food or water or risk being beat by the japanese. escape was impossible, as the japanese shot down whoever attempted to do so. not even dirty canals or wells were available to men for drinking water. the dead were left to grow hot in the sun by the roadside, and if you were nearly dead the japanese would just shoot you and end it already. watches, rings, fountain pens, everything was looted by the japanese soldiers from the USAFFE men.
of the group that started in bataan, 10,000 died. more died in the concentration camp.
from san fernando, surviving prisoners were densely packed into boxcars with no ventilation and brought to capas. as the trains moved to their location under the hot sun, the boxcars became ovens that cooked the men inside alive.
six kilometers were left after their trip, that were once again agonisingly walked by the soldiers. 15,000 died of hunger, malaria, diarrhea, and more executions. a war veteran by name of quirico v. cadang shares his experience in his memoirs:
the earlier mentioned jose p laurel now acted as president of what is called the puppet government -- named after the japanese's puppetry of the new president. laurel was actually doing well in regards to running the country and reducing harm done, and allowed philippine history to finally be taught in schools. this government, the japanese-sponsored republic, was inaugurated on october 13, 1942.
beheadings, cutting of throats, and casual shootings were the more common actions of japanese war atrocities--compared to instances of bayonet stabbing, rape, disembowelment, rifle butt beating and a deliberate refusal to allow the prisoners food or water while keeping them continually marching in tropical heat. falling down or inability to continue moving was tantamount to a death sentence, as was any degree of protest.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ the state of the government
economy was at an all time low during the occupation -- food and water scarce, as money was used to repair bombed buildings and such. prices soared in result.
the japanese kempeitai raided houses with unregistered radios, whos owners were then imprisoned in fort santiago, and inhuman punishments were meted out to them as a daily exercise.
failing to bow to the japanese sentries stationed at street corners resulted in harm to whoever had done so -- but that was not the main source of fear. the spy was.
filipinos could also be spies for the japanese -- called the makapili (literally meaning "choosy" or "the one who chooses"). he was to identify rebels (called guerrillas) and those identified would become targets and would be executed accordingly.
many years after the war, the abuses done to filipino women came to light. the "comfort women" were used to relieve soldier's sexual urges, and were often gathered into houses, even schools to be raped over and over every day. the infamous pulang bahay (red house) is the most well known place where this happened.
remedios fellas, 72, presented her story in a book entitled "the hidden battle of leyte: the picture diary of a girl taken by the japanese military." i will not describe anything in the book, as i deem it perhaps too graphic for this blog and i don't want people to get scared off. but i will say that stories like these were truly horrible, and no woman should ever suffer like this as spoil of war ever again.
by 1945, the americans were ready to return. after a bit of island-hopping (and subsequent victories), the leyte gulf war commensed. the american fleet, composed of 650 ships and 4 army divisions, cleared the area and subdued the japanese troops. from october 24 to 26, the battle for leyte gulf took place. the battle at surigao strait ended with the japanese annahilated. the battle of samar, after an endless day of fire and shooting, the americans had the upper hand. leyte, liberated on october 26th, 1945, was now the temporary capital.
the guerrilla / resistance movement was the main source of rebellion, monitoring enemy activity and reporting to general macarthur, to carry out assaults against the japanese military, and to kill japanese sympathizers and spies.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ freedom in reach
manila's liberation finally took place on january 9th, 1946, as the americans surprised the japanese with a landing of troops in lingayen gulf. on february 3, the troops entered manila. freeing prisoners, over 1000 were saved from the bilibid prisons -- and these prisoners were those of bataan and corregidor.
seeing the futility of their situation, the japanese committed a final horror before the battle begun -- the manila massacre. violent mutilations, rapes, and murders took place. filipinos were gathered into houses to be shot or burned down, and women were mass raped. a japanese battalion order dates february 13th reads:
when filipinos are to be killed they must be gathered in one place and disposed of with the consideration that ammunition and manpower must not be used to excess. because the disposal is a troublesome task they should be gathered into houses scheduled to be burned or demolished. they should also be thrown into the river.
about 100,000 of the one million residents in manila died in the absolute massacre. 1,000+ us soldiers were also part of the casualties while 5,565 were wounded. 16,000 japanese soldiers died as well, mostly sailors. the battle of manila was recorded as the fiercest urban fighting in the entire pacific war.
when in class, we watched a video of this massacre -- manila was gone. razed to the ground. on february 23rd -- my own birthday -- the fighting stopped. buildings gone. ground dirty with blood of filipinos, americans and japanese alike. the past six years culminated into a battle of the greatest intensity, and it ended in a city destroyed completely. the beauty of manila nowhere to be seen, the filipinos won back their independence at a cost too heavy to carry.
in malacañang palace, macarthur gathered the filipino leaders, finally declaring a statement that brought joy to the nation, that allowed the deaths of thousands of rebels to have come to use:
my country has kept the faith. your capital city, cruelly punished though it be, has regained its rightful place--citadel of democracy in the east.

PERSONALITY:
Licia is an aggressive, cold-hearted and vexed, yet cunning, serious, and intelligent woman. She likes to be alone rather than with her allies with an exception of being with Dragomir and take a smoke together to relax at some point. She is focus and a fighter herself ever since she got into a fight with thugs when her friend Armando got hurt. Before the events of the Aether timeline, Licia was a caring and loving daughter and sister to her family and very relaxed but sometimes she gets a bit frustrated whenever Marcel, Armando, or Javier get into some trouble. Lena, her Primis counterpart, tends to point out her personality not suitable for being a medic which she calls Licia "The Fallen Angel". She doesn't like getting hugs or simply hates physical touch in general but deep down, she isn't used to get a lot of affection after the death of her family and Armando which makes her distant to others.
BACKGROUND:
Licia is the eldest daughter of the Villanueva-Buenavista Family as she is born in Tondo, Manila, Philippines. Being the eldest, she is a responsible sister to her sibling Agatha as she is also an intelligent one. Licia was praised for her academic performance in school in which she aims to be enrolled in one of the prestigious schools in the country. Licia met Marcel and his cousin Armando, who has a crush on her, in a furniture shop where her father was looking for a brand new closet. In highschool, she met Javier and Leonora who was in the same section that she was in and made friends with the two. She is mostly the one who would back up the boys whenever they get in trouble and later scolds the three for causing some problems by getting into fights from thugs. Years later, Licia became a nurse and wanted to proceed to become a doctor. While she was trying to, the war broke out in the country as she went to join the Nurse Corps Reserve. Her family was at Bataan where they were staying at her aunt's house as the Japanese took the province. Licia was also caught while trying to hide from them as she was part of the Bataan Death March where she met her friend Armando as he was plotting to escape and ran to the nearest forest possible to hide from the Japanese. Licia agreed as she and her friend saw Marcel and Javier was also caught and involved on the march. The 4 successfully escaped as they ran on the forest soon after, but Licia saw her family are about to get killed and tries to save them, but it was too late. Armando stopped her and the twi rides a horse that they saw and flee from their captors. Licia was devastated as she felt guilty for not saving her family, Armando tries his best to comfort Licia for the lost of her family. They went on to look for Marcel and Licia until the both of them were ambushed by the Japanese as they tried to hide from them, Licia was holding her rifle as Armando looks at her and tells her his feelings before giving her a kiss then went to distract the Japanese for Licia to escape. She ran as far as she could but still was captured by the Japanese. She saw Armando getting killed as she was taken away from him soon after. She was imprisoned and tortured as she begins to breakdown to tears as she slowly loses hope while she was sent to be experimented by Division 9, then to be sent once more to Group 935. 2042 20June24: Chapter 172
Anger cap?
There are obviously two sides to every story. In my case, a lot of people would say I am overreacting. That's fine, you're entitled to your opinion.
For 18 years I have been providing for my nephew and his family. The story has been written back in the October November time frame but shortening everything up, nephew stayed with us. Graduated high school. Family wanted him to return to Laguna to attend college where they want him to... he applied and got accepted to Bataan Peninsula State Uni. Then he dragged his feet... waited until the last day to do his medical screening, complained that he had to wait in a long line to do so.. and he couldn't lay around playing his mobile game all day.
Fast forward, my wife gives him a task. He breezes through it, half-assed, doesn't listen to my wife.. and now we are finding out that his and his cousin have both failed to keep up with their paperwork, which is screwing them both over.
My wife was stressed out over this shit at 1am and commenced chewing their assess.. because they were told and shouldn't need reminders.
Here comes the part where yall are gonna judge me.
I came out of the room looked at my wife and said quit wasting your time and energy. If they want to live the life their parents can provide, then so be it. I want them out of the house before July, end of discussion.
I went to sleep, and then when I woke up, there was a Facebook message addressed to my wife and i... an attempt to make us feel bad for his situation, something we are all to familiar with and the typical "please give me a second chance to prove myself" then he hid in his room all day. I will not respond to a message. If he thinks he's a man he can address me face to face. If I give him a second chance, he's on the same path that his parents were on... every little fuck up is deserving of a second chance because last time I fucked up on A this time I fucked up on B... eighteen years of "Second Chances" I didn't bust my ass for 20 years to retire and continue to give undeserving people second chances every other day. He needs to learn real fast that life isn't easy and you don't get handouts. I'm being told that he printed out a job application which makes me think my wife has already addressed him as if he's getting a second chance. My wife doesn't need this stress and I definitely do not need this stress...
I just want to enjoy my retirement and not have to constantly hand out money and listen to "I need a second chance"

It's been awhile since i created a blog, this video was located at Sinagtala farm and resort in Orani Bataan Philippines, I'm with my grandma and sister here we planned to hangout for a moment to unwind and relax, that was a cup of coffee with cocoa it really taste good and you know what? it doesn't have any sugar at all but it taste so good, it makes me warm and energized, plus the relaxing sensation of the trees and serenity of the place, the ambiance will make this hangout very comfortable and relaxing, it was a perfect place to think and contemplate.
I highly recommend this place you can also rent a room and swim at their swimming pool and the view was breath taking.
Well talking about my life right now i still don't have a job what I'm doing right now is preparing myself for interviews if in case i applied, and I'm reading some history cause i love history and the book i bought in sm which is world's greatest speeches i hope i will remember the unfamiliar words cause I'm checking the dictionary whenever i read some unfamiliar words.
Well though I'm reading a lot of english history and books and watching movies I still don't have enough confidence I feel like I'm still lack of knowledge when it comes to English Language i still can't say that I'm fluent.
But I'm still not giving up, most of the time i feel like i want to study again and i want a course of psychology and lawyer.
I know this is too late for my age but i want to do things that could improve and be a better version before I get very old and died.
Living in my mom's house right now i feel guilty most of the time though my mom is not thinking about getting a job urgently but I feel pity and useless for myself.
I want to find a job but i remember my condition is not that good i feel strong as of now but i know that if i drive myself again on working hard my health will become detrimental again, but i need to find a job and word for my future though it's really late but for me what i really felt is I'm not that ready to dive into that decision right now, to go to work again, but soon maybe if Gods will, because I can't stay here all my life without doing nothing, I'm just afraid to leave my mom again she's really old and my grandma but I don't have any choice, I don't have a choice but to fight again to continue my journey my goals,
I pray to God to give me wisdom to be successful in any decisions i do or any job that i will choose and specially my health i wish and pray he will give me strength to fight again to endure until i became successful me and my family.

@cutesilyo's tags: #reblogging this bc i never tried to see the ghosts of ancient rome in ph history before but now i cant get it out of my head#like this specifically fucks me up a bit because#yknow how ph is always seen as like. asian but not too asian? a blend of east and west cultures?#and how we're like that SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE spain always made sure their cultural influence came first over using us for economic gain?#in a complete reversal of how other asian nations — especially other southeast asian nations were colonized?#and how this has translated to the observation that#time and time again our historymakers have resorted to western thought and philosophy for guidance and inspiration?#im just thinking specifically of like. ph revolutionaries who modeled statehood from contemporary liberal politics in western europe#and patterned revolutions and independence from south america#i think thats something that gets forgotten a lot in ph history tbh: that among the spanish colonies we were one of the last#to declare independence and separate from mother spain#and that is 300 years of spanish influence baby. 300 years of european thought at the height of when europe was fighting over#who gets to be the best imperialist and earn themselves tbe weight of the roman empire's legacy#imagine dragging around old blood and crumbled marble in the darkened shadows of a house that isnt even yours#thats how i imagine the weight of rome bears down from spain's shoulders to the philippines.
yes YES!! I think so much about how the Battle of Tirad Pass was compared to Leonidas at Thermopylae and how horrifying it is to valorise what was objectively just a catastrophic failure of leadership and cowardice in Aguinaldo’s part, like, two burials happened there.
the men who were slaughtered, and a second burial that appropriated the language of the classical history and it’s associated glory to cover it up. maybe a third burial of self, because those kinds of comparisons were made to claim for the Philippines the same kind of glory that the Europeans used to justify their violence, and it’s just. sad.
Tirad Pass, like Bataan, is a bad shrine for Filipinos, because there we feel absolved of the faults that lead to such disasters as Tirad and Bataan, or for that matter, Pinaglabanan and Caloocan. […] And because we think heroism can cover up for our botches, we are always very eager indeed to acclaim our defeats as ‘moral victories,’ Tirad was such a 'victory’; Bataan was such a 'victory.’ Ours is a most mysterious progress because we make it on disasters. In shambles will we acclaim our next 'moral victory’?
The wrong thing to do about to do about Tirad is invoke Leonidas and Thermopylae, because we would be invoking to our hurt another people fatally flawed with the inability to unite and organize. Besides, the parallel with Leonidas, king of the Spartans, is neither exact nor flattering: It was not Aguinaldo who fell at Tirad.
[…] But so that Aguinaldo can flee in futile flight, 60 men are sent to pay with their lives for the monstrous botch he has made of the Revolution.
-A Question of Heroes, Nick Joaquin
When you talk about Philippino history and then Roman history, as a Venezuelan it's been making me think about our history and like, I've always thought there's a lot of similarity there but now it's like...its so similar. Your house is haunted too! I always think about how we won wars against the colonizers but their ghosts are still there, and they still sit at the dinner table with us every night. Your work is so cool, I feel like I can extend that train of thought further through time. I've never been interested in Rome but now I kinda am!
Venezuela 🤝the Philippines: being haunted houses (colonized by Spain)
also that is so SO real, the ghosts really are with us!! THEY ARE AT!!! OUR DINNER TABLES!!!!! ngl, once you start noticing it, it's impossible to NOT notice how they've crawled into the spaces and just. stayed.
ancient Rome is so weird for it too, because if you asked me about it, I wouldn't immediately put ancient Rome down for haunting the Philippines, except for the fact that like Catholicism, it's fucking everywhere. it's gotten in the cracks and spaces between the walls. On the stage of theater, Nadres' Hanggang dito na lamang at maraming salamat: the main character is named after Julius Caesar
Closet Queeries, J. Niel C. Garcia
and so many people are named after figures from ancient Rome (I know enough Mark Anthonys I've run out of differentiating nicknames for everyone) that it rivals Catholic saints for naming conventions. neo classical architecture had it's moment in the sun in Manila, our ilustrados brought some of it back when they returned from Spain to call for reform, and then independence, and I am struggling to hold back a plague-infection comparison about that. like, something else crept in with Spain, and like Spain's ghosts, it Did Not Leave.
but on the other hand! there's a long, centuries long, tradition of using the events of the Fall of the Republic to discourse, discuss, to vent or call for action, current events. it provides a interlocutor when something hurts too much to say directly, it provides a stage to explore a tragedy that echoes in our own histories, it gives a script to voice an ideal that a government might otherwise put down. how many centuries have we used Brutus (and Cassius) to rail against Tyranny, and how many centuries with equal enthusiasm have people used Julius Caesar as a martyr to justify the rights of Kings and Empires? these things are equally as important (in a different way) from the ancient events that actually transpired. (this specific topic, of Brutus & the Assassination of Caesar and it's literary revivals in history, are the focus of The Brutus Revival, Manfredi Piccolomini)
and the cores of these things conflict with each other, but in that friction, it's like there's an invitation to sit down and think for a minute. to look back at history and feel it's immediacy in the present.
ANYWAY I got carried away, but I am glad!! that my stuff could make Rome interesting!!! I hope that you find new doors of thoughts to explore!!!!!!!
#hi I loved reading your tags so so so much!! thank you for taking the time to type it all out!!#I’ve been trying to articulate this thought about rome/the classics and it’s relationship to the philippines wrt to Spain’s colonization#and I’m so glad that someone else sees it because I am struggling to find anyone who has written about like.#this spectre that’s everywhere??? the messy relationship between a colonized country and the status that rome holds#on global society in a broad sort of way. it’s like a world wide shorthand for the height of ancient society and civilization#and for what!! it’s corpse keeps haunting us!!#some part of this feels cyclical. it’s like how some Roman’s got obsessed with Alexander the Great and turned him into an ideal#that he objectively was not. and every wannabe imperial empire follow up did that with rome to justify itself#(Catholicism included! I read the divine right discourses using Augustus!) (and rome ofc propagandized itself as an imperial power)#and then a colonized country using it to appropriate/claim some glory for itself even tho it’s a victim TO it. feels like a tragic circle#If this makes any sense hdjghgks#it’s like Burgos asking why he should die even though he was innocent and being told even Jesus Christ was innocent#like. What the fuck!!!! layers of violence in that. LAYERS#it keeps repeating on different stages in Philippine history#long post#ph tag

Benefits of Nuclear Powerplant for Households
Despite how the media and popular culture naively portray nuclear power plants as potentially dangerous technology capable of causing irreparable damage to their surroundings, there are major incentives as to why their use should be widespread. This is especially important for contemporary Filipino households, such as for example a new homeowner of a House and Lot for Sale in Laguna, since compared to other facilities within the electric power industry, the massive amounts of electricity generated by a nuclear reactor is simply on another level entirely.
Despite the projected benefits that can be provided by nuclear power plants within the country, there have yet to be any power plants to be built other than the currently defunct Bataan nuclear power plant. Such a facility can go a long way in bolstering the Philippines' nationwide electrical grid, which would not only make the domestic lives of many even better but also bolster the industrial capacity of one or more regions. While the stigma against nuclear power still exists to this day, overcoming this hurdle will be necessary for the sake of the nation's progress toward a better future. On the bright side, there have been plans for potentially tapping into nuclear energy once and for all, as noted by the recent articles written by Philstar and Bloomberg on the topic, covering the future plans devised by the present administration for attaining nuclear power once and for all.
For the purpose of convincing those that are still having second thoughts about nuclear energy, here are three benefits of nuclear power plants for households.
A Nuclear Power Plant is a Powerful Energy Source

Hopeful in Hopeless Times | 59 Days Before Christmas
Today is Wednesday and I feel less sleepy today. I was so focused at work and aiming to finish my jobs this week though it sounds impossible but I am really hoping that it will work and I can fit it in.
I managed to finalize my model and I had a lot of discussions with my project managers. I did all my best to fix it.
I worked back and forth to my jobs and I feel okay about it. Like, it feels good to be this busy. However, while I was working my keyboard suddenly malfunctioned. So, I immediately informed our office and I had to go there to pick up a new keyboard. It was good but I still try to get familiarize with the keyboard because I already used to what I had before.
It was too hot when I went out of my apartment. I was planning to roam around the mall but its already late and I still have a lot of tasks to do. So, I went home straight and just rest a little so I can take a bath.
I realized that most of our common friends knew about his plans and he even sent and called them to show it to them, but he didn't even sent one to me or anything. I just felt jealous and I don't know what happened to him as we were very close before and we even inform each other ahead.
I don't know but I just felt sad about it. But, I used to it so, I tried not to think of it a lot.
Anyway, just to set aside that bad feeling, I had a dream last night with my facebook friend, his name is Ian too, he is a medical writer and he is really cutie and popular guy, I guess, he work as a professor too and he is teaching Pharmacy students.
Last night, I dreamed of him. He picked me up in Bataan and we went out for roadtrip somewhere in Bataan and we are like a couple. He even so sweet to me and I even hugged him. We stayed in a house far enough for me to recall. We stayed there and he is really cute. I woke up with good smile in my face and I chatted him immediately. He had a short talk because I know he is busy working or maybe teaching.
I just felt good. It's been a while since the last time I feel this way. I hope I could feel this again a better feeling. I hope that he will not bother me anymore so I can move forward.
PS: I did my make-up again to prepare for Friday's Halloween Party.
Good night.
Love always,
Iyaaaan

On our summer getaway in 2017, we stayed at the Anvaya Cove Resort, an exclusive beach resort in Morong Bataan. It is a 2 hrs drive from Arayat Pampanga to Anvaya. When I saw the place, I fell in love with the crystal-clear waters, the cool breeze, and the environment. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind, Anvaya Cove was an exclusive subdivision. It is Ayala Land's first members-only seaside leisure community. There are a lot of houses that you can see and also there are four building sea breeze condominiums surrounded by beautiful nature. When we are staying in a condo for 3days and 2nights, it costs 30,000 pesos for the whole family. I'm not sure if there were any other options, but the room we were in had was two rooms with single beds and two pull-outs. The beds were a small firm as well. The bathroom was spacious, with a large shower with excellent water pressure. The building we had has a big pool on the side. We need to ride car for 5 minutes before we can go to the beach club with lots of pools and restaurants or drive to your cabin in a golf cart, which you can call at any moment if you don't want to walk long. The main pool is beautiful because the water was warm, clean, and protected by lifeguards. Also, you can rent beach activities such as kayaking, paddle boarding, and other water sports for an hour or more. Although the sand is not as white as Boracay, it is crystal clear also.
Food: Every morning the food is served in the main restaurant at the front desk, and it provides sumptuous dishes of Philippine breakfast delicacies. Another restaurant, located towards the left end of the beach, serves delectable traditional Philippine cuisine, and a second restaurant, located near the Sports bar, serves pizza and tasty Italian pasta. There is a bar area beside the main pool that sells cold drinks that why eating was one of my favorite things to do in Avaya Cove! There are so many great food options that you will have no difficulty finding something you enjoy. The food is very yummy even though it is expensive and the price starts at 150 pesos plus. I suggest if you go to Anvaya, bring food instead of buying because you can cook in your condo.
Overall, my experience was excellent, very clean, and had well-maintained amenities. I get to experience world-class service. The unique view of the mountains where it meets the calm ocean, the option to lounge by the pool or by the beach, I appreciate trees and nature, and I have the chance to watch the breathtaking sunset. Anvaya Cov is a must place to visit. If you haven't been to Anvaya Cove, I suggest you check it in summer is the best day to go here. It's a first-class development by Ayala Premier. It boasts a world-class and scenic 18-hole Golf course, a Golf club, beach club, sports club, many restaurants so much more.

1, 3, 5, 10, 11, 16, 18, 24, 25!
1 and 10 have been answered in a previous message, but I’ll happy to answer the rest!
3) what order do you write in? front of book to back? chronological? favorite scenes first? something else?
I write from beginning to end. Usually, because I know the beginning scene and the end of the story. I just have to fill in the middle.
5) character you were most surprised to end up writing
In “Two Wrongs”, I was surprised to write Mrs. Mellark as I did. Rhiannon turned out to be this really fleshed-out character and in the end, I was sad at her passing. Also, in “Again”, Annie as well as Finnick, their characterizations turned out so effective as individuals and as a couple.
11) what aspect of your writing do you think has most improved since you started writing?
Grammar, definitely. I think I’ve created relatable and readable work. Also, dialogue is a lot better.
16) are there any characters who haunt you?
Toad in “Fated to Love”. Toad, who was really not quite a character at all, really resonated in the story and was the one who brought Katniss and Peeta together in the beginning.
18) were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? what were they?
I think Louisa May Alcott really kind of affected me. “Little Women” was the first big chapter book I read as a kid and I think the naturalness of her words along with the realness of her characters kind of always stuck with me. Reading that book was like coming home and cozying with a warm blanket.
24) have you ever become an expert on something you previously knew nothing about, in order to better a scene or a story?
Landmines, because of “Again”, abortion methods because of “Dust to Dust”, the Bataan Death March because of “Bataan”
25) copy/paste a few sentences or a short paragraph that you’re particularly proud of
From “Riptide”:
The waves touch gently at my feet, teasing the tips of my toes.
I took the train, crying the whole way, to live by the beautiful seaside of District 4. Mags, who knows my mother, is a mute woman with a gentle smile and sparkling eyes. Her home is right along the shore and every day I find myself walking along the water to quiet my aching insides.
I’ve lost the baby. I’ve lost the man I love. I miss them both like crazy.
It’s easy to cry along the crashing waves—no one can hear you.
Not even God, if there is such a person.
Turning, I look to the house and find Mags gesturing me back for supper. I wave back to let her know that I’ll be up soon.
Wrapping my shawl around myself, I begin my way back. However, there is a slight ache inside me and my hand reaches instinctively for my stomach. Since arriving in District 4, I could barely look at my own body, much less touch it.
However, I place my hand to my stomach at the sensation and my heart jumps at the feeling of the hard swell underneath my palm.
The realization comes quickly.
My mother lied.
Our baby lives.
Mags sees my face as I head up to the porch and her hand reaches into her pocket to hold out a letter.
“My mother wrote to me?” Mags shakes her head. “She had you keep this?” The woman in front of me nods as I frantically open the letter.
The message is simple:
‘When you become a mother, you will understand.’
