Thandai Recipe In Hindi
The festival of Holi is going to come very soon and if there is no cold on Holi then there is no joy in the colors of Holi. So on the festival of Holi, Thandai Recipe is made mostly at everyone's place. A popular and refreshing Indian thandai made with spices, seeds and dry fruits. It is an all-purpose drink that is served during Maha Shivratri or Holi festival to provide essential nutrients for the celebration. It can be made flavored with mango, rose and betel leaf or can be served plain with milk without any additional flavorings.
Most Indian festivals are celebrated with food and drink across India. The cuisine of each festival is created and served to meet specific needs. A good example of a purpose-based recipe is thandai, made with milk, dry fruits and spices for a day-long or night-long celebration. The standard thandai recipe is loved by most of us, but there are many better flavors and variations too. The possibilities for adding flavor and variations are endless, and almost anything can be added.
furthermore, i would like to add some more tips, additions and variations to Thandai Recipe. to begin with, the masala used in this recipe is a thick, wet paste that needs to be mixed with cold milk to make thandai. You can make thandai powder by dry roasting these ingredients and use it whenever needed. secondly, for a sweeter version, you can mix the same mixture with basundi or condensed milk. In fact, you can freeze them into popsicles to make kulfi. Lastly, the bhang drink very famous during the festival of Holi can be made from the same spice mix. Because marijuana and the same drink are mixed together.
Ingredients needed to make thandai:-
For thandai paste-
Less than ½ cup almonds (shelled)
2 tbsp pistachios
¼ cup cashews
¼ cup watermelon seeds
½ tbsp black pepper
2 tbsp poppy seeds
2 tbsp fennel
8 pieces cardamom
5-6 threads of saffron
3 tbsp rose petals (dry)
2 cups water (for soaking)
Other ingredients-
Sugar
Milk
Pieces of ice
For flavor-
Mango
betel leaves
yellow food color (optional)
green food color (optional)
Thandai preparation method:-
Make paste-
1. To make thandai, first take a big bowl and add almonds, pistachios, cashews, watermelon seeds, black pepper, poppy seeds, fennel, cardamom, saffron threads and rose petals to the bowl. Will put all these in the bowl.
2. Now put 2 cups of water in the bowl and keep it soaked for at least 6 hours. If you have less time then soak all the ingredients in hot water for 2 hours.
3. Now we have to make a smooth paste by putting the soaked ingredients in a mixie jar with the same water.
Make thandai-
4. To make Thandai, add 1 tbsp sugar and 3 tbsp Thandai spice paste, 2 cups cold milk in a jar. Now we will mix them. Now take a big glass and put some ice cubes in the glass.
5. Now pour the prepared thandai in a glass. Now your thandai is ready to drink.
Prepare mango flavored thandai-
6. To bring taste of mango in Thandai, put 1 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp Thandai masala, 2 tbsp mango pulp, 2 cups cold milk in a mixie jar and stir.
7. If you want color in cold. So 1 pinch of yellow food color can be applied.
8. Now your mango flavored thandai is ready, now you have to take a big glass and put some ice cubes in it and pour thandai on top. Now you can enjoy Thandai to the fullest and celebrate Holi with lots of colors.
Prepare betel flavored thandai-
9. To bring the taste of betel in thandai, we need betel leaves. So what are we to do? Put 2 betel leaves, 2 tbsp sugar, 3 tbsp thandai masala and 2 cups cold milk in a mixer jar and mix it.
10. If you want color in paan thandai, you can use green food colour. So you have to add a pinch of green food color and stir till it becomes smooth. Now your paan wali thandai is ready.
11. Now you have to take a glass and put some ice cubes in it. Now pour the prepared thandai in a glass and enjoy.
12. In this way you can make 3 types of thandai at a time. Holi festival can be turned into more ragins and colors.
Note:-
. firstly, i have not added sugar in thandai masala paste as we can vary the quantity of sugar in each serving.
. Flavored thandai can also be made like rose, coffee or tea.
. Also, you can enjoy Holi by adding cannabis to it.
. finally, the traditional thandai recipe is a very healthy drink.

My Real Moments with Milk
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #LoveWhatsReal #CollectiveBias
Milk plays an important role in my everyday life. It is a part of my family’s everyday meal. Here are my few beautiful real moments with milk.
youtube
At our home, we start our day early with a cup of hot coffee with milk. Though we have lots of work to do in the morning like getting ready to work, pack lunch, and getting my son to school. Me and my husband enjoy our coffee time 5 – 10 in the morning peacefully. It just boosts our energy and makes us feel fresh in the morning. It is our favorite part in the early morning. It’s been 10 years now we are together and we never missed our early morning coffee time.
We love coffee with milk compared to the plain coffee. Because milk adds nutritional value like Calcium and Vitamin D to the coffee compare to the plain coffee.
During the festive season or any special occasions like, we make a vermicelli milk pudding (payasam) at home. From kids to everyone enjoys the milk pudding. It tastes so creamy and delicious. In our tradition, there is no wedding meal without a vermicelli milk pudding. The wedding meal starts with an appetizer and end with the milk pudding as a dessert.
My son Aldrich loves milkshakes and he drinks a milkshake for an after-school snack. It provides needed Calcium, Vitamin D and Potassium needed to the growing kids for strong bones and teeth. What else a mom needs, milk blended with fruits or dry fruits for a healthy and easy snack for the little one?! Sometimes he carries the store bought chocolate milk with him for an after-school program. Milk has the nutrition that’s hard to find in other foods and beverages.
I born and brought up in a community where people makes varieties of sweet using the milk. During my childhood, mom used to make lots of milk sweets like Carrot Kheer, Basundi (Condensed milk flavored with dry fruits and cardamom), Kalakand (milk cake) during the festive season. There are no special occasions without milk sweets.
Next, here comes the summer holidays, mango kulfi (mango ice cream) is the must delicacy at our home. We enjoy mango kulfi all through the summer. After spending lots of time outside in the hot summer we love to enjoy the chilled and delicious mango kulfi.
Finally, one such beautiful memory with milk is my mom serves us the saffron, dry fruits and cardamom infused milk every night during winter before bedtime that helps to keep our system warm. Watching our family’s favorite show on the TV and sipping a cup of warm saffron milk in the cold winter night is bliss.
Milk is default in my grocery list and I stock up 2 large cans of milk regularly in my fridge. Real dairy milk is wholesome, simple and affordable. I make cottage cheese (paneer) and yogurt at home regularly for our everyday use. Homemade yogurt and cottage cheese tastes so fresh and delicious.
These are my beautiful moments with milk, please share your real moments with milk too on Instagram with the hashtags #LoveWhatsReal and #Sweepstakes and a picture must include milk. Can’t wait to read yours!! A sweet deal here for you, Milk. Love What’s Real Sweepstakes runs on Jan 22, 2019, to February 28, 2019. Enter sweepstakes to win A year’s worth of free milk!! #HowManyCaloriesinIndianSweets Just like cakes, pastries, cookies, and pies define the west, different varieties of lip-smacking sweets define India. There can be no special day, festival, or occasion without the inclusion of sweets. In fact, having sweets in dessert for lunch or dinner is a must in most Indian households. Every state has its own speciality as per the local taste. For instance, Rasgulla or Rasmalai from West Bengal, Basundi from Gujarat, Mysore Pak from Karnataka, Khaja from Bihar, and so on. What’s usually common among these sweets is milk, khoya, chhena (cottage cheese) or kheer. Sweets are available in two different variants in India – dry and wet (dipped in milk, rabri, or sugar syrup). While laddoo, peda, or sondesh are some of the famous dry variants available all across India, gulab jamun, rasgulla, or shrikhand are some of the famous wet variants in the Indian sweet category. In most sweets, the milk is thickened, just like condensed milk, and lots of sugar or jaggery is used that adds to the calories. Whether it’s Holi, Diwali, Chhath, GudiPadwa, or Durga Puja, no festival in India is complete without sweets. During this time, we become completely oblivious to the calorie intake part and savour these heavenly items, eyes closed. From a normal individual without any ailments to those in the obese category or those with diabetes, no one really cares about their health when its about festivals and sweets. Sweets are made with all love and are eaten randomly without any fear. But, once the festivities are over, that’s when we realize that we have put on weight and our sugar levels have shot up! That’s when we run for doctors and medicines, and vow not to have sweets next time, only to break it again. While it can be tempting not to avoid these sweets during festivals, the calories contained in them are not easy to burn. If you are not sure about the calories contained each variant, it’s better to get informed to save yourself from piling up those kilos and adding those inches. So, know about the calories contained in each sweet item and become a wise eater. Calories in Indian Sweets Food Name Food Quantity Calories Gujia 2 pieces 300 Gulab Jamun 2 pieces 350 Halwa (rawa) 1 bowl 181 Halwa (sohan halwa) 1 bowl 399 Jalebi 3-4 pieces 494 Kheer (rice) 1 bowl 247 Sandesh 2 pieces 80 Patisa 2 pieces 280 Rasmalai 2 pieces 320 Khoya burfi 2 pieces 300 Cocobut burfi 2 pieces 387 Ghia burfi 2 pieces 332 Kaju burfi 2 pieces 320 Chocolate burfi 2 pieces 240 Chennamurki 50 gm 260 Milkcake 2 pieces 450 Besanladoos 2 pieces 340 Boondiladoo 2 pieces 410 Rasgulla 2 pieces 300 For further clarification, Rasgullasare made of Chenna, semolina dough, and sugar syrup. Small doughs are formed and cooked in sugar, and soaked in syrup once completed. 2 pieces of Rasgullacontains 1gm of fat, 2mg of Cholesterol, and 150 calories. Similarly, gulabjamuns are made of khoya (milk solids), flavoured cardamom, and sugar syrup. Small doughs are deep fried in oil, and then soaked in sugar syrup. 2pcs of Gulab Jamuns contain approx. 15gms fat, 31mgs cholesterol, and around 380 calories. A dry sweet variant like, sondesh (Indian milk cakes) is made of strongly thickened milk, rava, sugar, and ghee. The milk needs to be stirred strongly while adding ghee and sugar. Mix everything and stir till the mixture becomes thick enough to form small doughs. Cool the doughs, freeze for a few hours, and serve. Each 50gms of sondesh contains 9gms of fat, 20mg of cholesterol, and 175gms calories, which is far less than Gulab Jamun. There are hundreds of sweet variants in India and each one differs in the fat, cholesterol, and calorie content. But, considering that just a teaspoon of sugar weighing 4gms offers 16Kcal of energy and 2gms of carbohydrate, you can automatically make out how much sugar you consume in one sweet. Many of us tend to believe that we can rather opt for dry variants of sweets to reduce the calorie intake. While that is true to an extent since, dry sweets possess lower calories than the wet variants, they are still high in calories comparatively, due to the sugar content. You would be shocked to know that a decent looking one medium piece of laddoo or peda of 100gms contains about 185 calories! The calories are due to the thickened milk, dry fruits like, pistachios, sugar, saffron, and cardamoms. That’s a lot! While you must not deprive yourself from such mouth-watering sweets, it’s important to keep a tab of your calorie intake for the entire day. Now, that you have savoured your favorite sweets this Diwali, it’s time you burn them out with a strict diet and exercise regime. While you must follow a strict diet free of high calories, you must also add these physical activities in your daily routine: • Jumping rope – burns 400 calories in a 43 minutes session; • Dancing – burns upto150 calories in 24minutes; • Changing sheets – burns upto 185 calories for changing sheets for 30minutes; • One round of cleaning – burns upto 80 calories in 20minutes • Running – burns upto 270 calories for running 10kms • Calorie free gum – burns upto 50calories for chewing the calorie free gun for about four and a half hours • Mix of step climbing, toe-taps, and mountain climbing – burns upto 225 calories in 20minutes • One round of Kick-Boxing – Burns upto 175 calories in 15minutes Enjoy your sweets, but make sure you know your calorie intake, eat a balanced diet, drink loads of water/fluid, and burn it out with appropriate exercises. Eat healthy, stay fit. this post originally from JAiCOUPONS
