So the FFXV Au i created follows a timeline that (originally) involved only fusing the concepts of 12 and 15 together to form a somewhat coherent plotline for me to play in with my characters,
Buuuut, as i continued to brainstorm and play other games from the franchise it expanded to include concepts from 7 (Midgar, the SOLDIER program ect) and a sprinkle of Chrono Cross in terms of hidden enemies and bosses.
Below is the timeline i came up for it when it included only 12 and 15 and ill add on the additional content that was brought on by 7 and Chrono Cross' inclusion later on when i detangle it from my notes
Follows a timeline where Ashe fails to destroy the Occurian threat. As a result their influence continues well into the age of Eos. As their power grew so did their resentment of those they commanded. As a result the Espers rise up once again to wrestle power away from their former masters.
Though she had failed initially, Ashe continued her pursuit well past the ending of FF XII, and before her passing she had managed to find a way to free the Espers from their limiting bonds [I.e their Glyphs].
Revitalized by their freedom, the Espers began their war anew, taking advantage of the now weakened Occurian. The furious war raged above the world of Ivalice. Changing the land as their battle wounded the Earth. Victory was all but granted in favor of the Espers but not without great personal cost. Many Espers had fallen to the power of the Occurian, leaving only seven standing [with the fallen five reincarnated as Kings by Ultima for their service.]
Ultima, proud of her victory that she had long sought, looked over the realm of man and brought about it’s destruction, eager to take the creations of the Occurain and reshape them to fit her desires, cleansing it of the Occurians' presence.
The action proved to be too great a toll on her already weakened body, the purge she had created completely destroying her physical form. However, her spirit burning brighter than any known star, coalesced into a great crystal, shattering into pieces and scattering to parts unknown, with the largest of them being found and held aloft in the unyielding hold of the great Astral named Titan. [See notes about it’s true name and how to form a covenant with it]
Though her body was destroyed, the great power of her magicks remained ever powerful, and as a parting gift she granted the remaining Espers one final boon, allowing them to evolve their physical forms into greater and more powerful vessels. Mourning their Queen’s death, the Espers swore to protect those who remained after her cleansing, overseeing them as the Astrals of Eos.
As these events unfurled, the world below them slowly recovered, the original party; Ashe, Vaan, Baasch, Balthier, and Fran, granted immunity from Ultima’s actions and filled with grief at what they had brought about, sought to assist the survivors in rebuilding the world they had helped to destroy, cursing the gods for their unjust actions.
Time passed, as it always does, and with it the passing of the original party. Before their demise the Astrals, led by a freshly formed Bahamut [Zodiark’s new form; possessing even greater and more terrible power now that it was freed from it’s bonds placed upon it by the Occcurian] approached Ashe in the hopes of granting her clairvoyance with them. It posited that this gift would allow her to communicate with them whenever she pleased, granting her a means to access untold amounts of power.
She could rebuild her kingdom as she saw fit, better than her previous one could ever hope to be.
Ashe turned down their “gift” with venom in her words, announcing her disdain for their presence and rightfully so, for who could ever think to side with the very creatures who had a hand in creating this dismal world. As a result the former Queen passed away in obscurity. The same fate befell the others, and soon only their progeny remained; offspring that slowly came to forget the misdeeds of the gods and their cruelty.
Bahamut continued it’s search for a proper puppet to put it’s plan into action, eager to pass it’s “gifts” in order to fully purge the world of the Occurian presence. Despite its abhorrence to the creatures that infested this planet, Bahamut could see their potential in the Occurians extinction, whos presence had evolved into a new threat.
A disease known as the “Starscourge” by the remaining populace was growing in the shadows of the world. Though the survivors of Ultima’s purge attributed it to a kind of parasite, the Espers [now called Astrals] knew of the diseases’ true origins: reduced to ash by Ultima’s final final attack, the Starscourge was the hatred of the Occurian’s given physical form; a corrupting miasma that mutated any organic matter it touched and could blot out the sun had it had the chance to grow unchecked.
Bahamut continued it’s self-inflicted task of finding a vessel that would be useful in stopping this encroaching plague, and after many failed attempts did finally manage to persuade Athilda, Ashe’s great-great-granddaughter to take up it’s offer.
Althida, desperate to create order in a still rampant world, took the ability to converse with the Gods and with their guidance sought out a suitable protector of Ultimas final resting place.
