#last night at work i had a really sick baby intubated with 2 chest tubes#and he started decompensating bad so i had to trouble shoot all sorts of equipment and the baby himself#and i figured out that one of his chest tubes was obstructed#based on the vent readings and the the chest tube drainage system#and got the np to fix it and he immediately improved#and it was one of those great shifts where you get to leave a baby doing objectively so much better than you found them#and i felt so goddamn smart!#like i was right!#my assessment was correct and allowed us to fix things quickly!#i have awful imposter syndrome but i really walked out feeling smart and good at my job and full of critical thinking skills!#which is great bc theyre giving me an orientee soon which is just buckwild to me#but yeah i think i did a really good job last night#just bc the dickhead asshole douchbag resident talks to me like i got my degree in a cracker jack box doesnt mean i dont know things#i know some stuff
