Replaying the Soleil twins route cause recent Skaia talk was making their yin-yang motif bother me again -- especially since Skylla (another spelling of Skaia) is on the periphery of the route. Vaguely odd to see MSPAR bragging about their set of "gams" while in conversation with a pair of Gamzees -- all the more because they called the flashlight app on their phone a "torch" moments before, briefly aligning MSPAR with "English", for whom Gamzee is a constituent part? There's strange sense of overlap between you and the twins, seemingly in conversation with the overlap the twins themselves experience.

Also I might've spotted a sly Big Dick Energy joke on the walk up to the haunted mansion: the house "possesses a certain energy that sends shivers up your spine... an instinct deep in your gut is telling you to give it a wide berth." The talk of GUTS and BIRTH alters the tone of the shivers and eroticizes the vague energy attributed to the house, imo. As you approach the door you think, "Adrenaline zings through you. You could choke on it." Though IT implicitly refers to the adrenaline rush (oh hey, more shivers), the openness of the pronoun offers the imminent choking an alternate cause of LARGE DICK. You knock a large metal tongue against a door, then feels "licks" of the sun on your back, as though the prospect of entering an opening was suddenly aimed at YOU. And as soon as the threshold is penetrated, you feel nauseous and pass out, as though the subtext was a little too much for your ass to handle.

There's also an error (maybe) at the beginning of the route where the narration suggests Alternia has 2 suns? But if we accept that "mistake" as text, the threat of penetrating licks from double suns probably transfers onto the twins who torture and maim you, as if the door were in some sense a mirror -- again with the weird sense of overlap. I lost the thread on this once MSPAR was actually in the mansion though, so that's difficult to verify... though the cannon behind the twins has a healthy splatter of brown blood coating its rim, so there's probably still something rude being said about butts in the periphery

Anyway given the BBC DP jokes in Slurquest I'm gathering THIS is where the racialized energy of the black/white patterning went.

any thoughts on barzum and baizli? i always say them as a representation of the clown gods given that their whole thing is the same as gamzee when he declares himself to be the mirthful messiahs - the alternate lower and upper case sentences that blend to gamzees quirk, the happy and sad masks, etc. any thoughts on this? i would say they align with whatever anxieties gamzee represents probably

I can add add one item to the Complementary Pair pile: Yin-Yang. Soleil, derived of the Cirque, means "sun". The wiki notes that Barzum is (in addition to a tilted Barnum, the circus man) a word for "darkness" in the language of Mordor: "ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul" becomes "One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them". And as best I can tell, Baizli refers to (in addition to Barnum's partner Bailey) the paisley, a curved teardrop shape popular in textiles. Combining a light (soleil) and dark (burzum) paisley yields the Yin-Yang.

In the context of Alternia racializing and gendering white and black, you might expect the twins to relate to that through their own representation of totality...? But I didn't really notice anything to that effect on this readthrough

ive been more into hiveswap again lately cuz currently im trying to get every achievement in act 2(45/49 currently!) so i decided to put every character that was mentioned in hiveswap into fortune wheel thingy and doodle characters that it will give me.... i wanted to do some more but im a bit tired

Chahut Maenad

One of the only limeblood survivors. Despite her large size, she had somehow managed to lay low until she was rescued by the little goldblood Amisia. She is extremely devoted to the mutantblood who marked Alternian history. She enjoys crocheting.

Marvus Xoloto

A very popular man who disguises as an oliveblood. He has an online blog where he publishes his songs, however, he never dares to show his face. When outside, he wears sunglasses and clothes in an olive shade of green. The first and only troll to find out about his secret was an tealblood, who are known to be faithful to law. The man, however, was different, and was secretly in support of limes. His secret is being kept.

Karako Pierot

a little child being raised in secret by one of the fuchsiabloods. He lives in the aforementioned fuchsia's large hive outside sea, and is too innocent and young to know that his mere existence could get him culled, if he ever gets discovered.

Barzum & Baizli Soleil

They are young twins who reside in a creepy, abandoned hive where no one dares to check. And if someone does, they scare the invasor away using fake clown sounds and large sillhouettes. They are, in fact, pretty nerdy, and enjoy reading and studying a bunch. They anonnymously ramble about their interests online, and use the gray color to hide their blood.
