#bartok the magnificent was one of the like six movies I'd watch at my grandma's which is why I know about this let alone care #I mean the real answer is 'it's set like 400 years before anastasia and it's because they wanted a fairytale setting'#it's a completely unrelated story they sold by packaging it with anastasia's most marketable little guy #like I can SEE the doylist reasons but STILL--#I don't think about this all the time but I do think about it way more often than it merits #little dude saw another scary magic user and was like 'oh sick I love these guys' and was Hella Wrong
