ooooooh i haven't thought about this one in a while and originally it was going to be like a split barbgrove and hellcheer but to this day i haven't figured out the hellcheer side so it might just be in the background and not a split after all BUT

the general vibe is barb finally got out of an abusive relationship with her ex but he's still harassing her so steve offers himself up to be her fake boyfriend and she just kind of laughs (lovingly) and says babe that's very sweet but you suck at fighting, he will kill you and so then he comes up with the idea to go to eddie, who he knows is still single, and see if maybe he'd be up for the job.

turns out eddie would but he's thiiiiiiiiiiis close to getting a date with chrissy and he doesn't want to screw it up!! barb understands, obviously, but then billy pipes up (who barb hadn't even realized was there) and offers to do it. after much arguing they reach an agreement and as steve takes barb home, he hatches a plan for a group date to ease into things (featuring nancy/jonathan, steve/robin (platonically, of course), eddie/chrissy, and barb/billy), and specifically decides it should be mini-golfing just to piss billy off.

idk when i'll get around to this one but it does sound like a lot of fun!

For the WIP game - three men and a baby 😄

Here you go! It's still really rough!!!

Chrissy was constantly seeing beautiful people coming and going from the penthouse apartment, the noises that came from there were sometimes enough to wake the dead. Tonight is no different. She had climbed into the elevator, wringing her hands, hoping she wouldn't get yelled at for her troubles. She knew the guys fairly well, from a distanced point of view. Steve, Billy, and Eddie. Steve was the host of a popular children’s TV show ala Blues Clues. Billy was a soap actor playing a doctor by the name of Dakota Montague, and he took that role as seriously as he took everything else in his life, as in not at all. He had a girlfriend, Barb, for a while, who did not fit in with his normal image, but then Chrissy thought that had been the only time he genuinely smiled. But they broke up months ago for reasons she hadn’t heard gossiped about in the elevator.  Then there was Eddie. He was a rockstar. She’d seen a few of his shows, without telling him she would be there. She knew from Joyce down the hall that Eddie felt like he wasn’t around enough to have a place of his own to be taken care of, so he lived with his friends when he wasn’t on his tour bus. Eddie had also helped her with her groceries when the handle on her green bag broke and her produce had rolled all over the lobby. He’d collected it for her then handed it over while staring at her with wide eyes and open mouth until he withdrew his hand, offering to carry them home for her. She agreed. Of course she’d agreed. She was already enamored with him and they hadn’t spoken. They shared the elevator up to her flat and she’d let him in, offering him water and not her hand in marriage as she wanted. They’d talked for hours and only stopped because a buzz sounded on her door, alerting her of her brother’s visit.  Eddie waited for the elevator. He got on as her brother got off. The next day, she’d found a bouquet of lilies at her door with a note from Eddie giving her his phone number if she was interested.  They’d talked on the phone every night for a month. Even if it was the middle of the night when he got done with his show, he called her to tell her some amusing anecdote about the crowd or to just hear her voice. He’d get all soft and shy when he said things like that and she wanted to fling herself off the balcony and fly into the air.  But tonight was different. Eddie, Billy, and Steve were having a party. A birthday party for Eddie, a going away party for Billy, and a chance to meet ladies for Steve. Billy was heading to the jungles of South America to film a movie. Steve had bet Eddie that Billy got abducted by a tribe. Eddie countered that he’d end up running a cartel. She honestly hoped neither of them were right. Billy was intense but he had moments where he was quite funny. Not Eddie funny but still… She knocked on the door and Steve, with a video camera greeted her. “And here we have the delectable, the irresistible, and undeniable Chrissy Cunningham.” Steve was doing a running narration of the events as he recorded. “Everyone agrees she’s too good for Eddie. Even Eddie.” She giggled. “Where is the birthday boy?”

To add on, what if they run into each other later in life and somehow get together, still enemies to lovers vibes but more self aware. Maybe barb breaks up with her long term boyfriend and runs into billy, thinking he'll be a rebound. Maybe billy always had a thing for her and they end up working together at some office. Maybe they hookup at a high school reunion for old times sake.

I LOVE THE IDEA OF THEM AT A REUNION.

It's been weeks since he said her words and so far she's been able to avoid saying anything at all to him. That is until now. 

Of course her lab partner just had to come down with mono. So now she's forced to work with Billy and his partner.

She certainly doesn't miss the smug smirk he has when the teacher shuts down her protests. 

Even though he's been purposefully needling her the whole time.Still she manages to get by without actually talking directly to him. 

That is until he nearly knocks over the solution they've been working on. She snaps and grabs his wrist looking him straight in the eye.

I can’t stop thinking about Barbgrove for some reason?

(Obviously, mandatory canon divergence where Billy arrives at Hawkins earlier.) Maybe they get together in high school, Billy for a similar reason that Nancy stays with Steve, because it’s safe and familiar (and to hide that he’s gay).

Barb, on the other hand, sees something in Billy that her parents have warned her about. Something about signs that a child might be in an unsafe household situation, and wants to help him in whatever way she can. That, along with the fact that she might want to fit in (I headcanon her as lesbian), makes her want to be with Billy for something similar to his situation.

So they could be in a relationship similar to Steve and Nancy’s, except that it’s something of a lavender relationship without being aware of it (but they have strong suspicions about each other), and they have a deeper connection because of it. Barb’s parents are skeptical of Billy at first but quickly accept him when they realize things might not be going well for him at home, praising Barb for her foresight.

Billy can’t do anything about Neil’s scathing remarks about his new girlfriend but at least she’s not there when it happens.

Barb and Max getting along immediately. Maybe Barb subtly trying to get information from Max to see if her suspicions about this being an unsafe house are correct.

Billy getting invited to dinner more often than not, Barb’s parents giving him an excuse to be far from home as much as he can.

Barb and Billy throwing hints to each other about the real nature of this relationship. Maybe crying to each other when they realize they weren’t alone all along.

HI OMG the 10 things au idea is so fantastic you have the biggest brain fr. There's so many pairings it could work with (like while I'm a diehard hellcheer the concept of eddie x nancy is also appealing.) And the barbgrove/hellcheer idea is so good. OR WAIT.

hear me out.... Hellcheer as Patrick and Kat. Greatmage as Cameron and Bianca. Say maybe Chrissy has taken El under her wing and is super protective of her but Gareth (Eddie's new band member slash protégé slash devotee) wants to ask El to prom and though he is slightly intimidated by Eddie's general eddie-ness he asks him for help and Eddie, who will never turn down an opportunity to talk to Chrissy, accepts the deal (which yeah might earn him enough money to buy that Warlock he's been eyeing but that's beside the point when he gets to spend time with CHRISSY)

Lonely Soul, Ocean Soul - Chapter 8

By now, Barb was well-acquainted with what it meant to swim with Billy.  Together, they’d go to his cave, where he’d shuck his clothes.  Naked as the day he was born, he’d fold his clothes and store them away in one of the many clear trash bags he kept there, treating them as if they were as much a part of him as his sealskin.

Like Billy, Barb stripped out of her clothes.  But unlike him, she’d taken to wearing a swimsuit underneath any time she went out with him.  

“I’m not going out there naked,” she’d insisted the first time he’d teased her about it.  “Unlike you, I don’t have a layer of fur to keep fish and sand and god knows what else out of my more sensitive bits.”
