Il était une fois nous
Pairings: Nick Vaughan x Penny Barron (OFC), Andy Barber x Penny Barron (past)
Warnings: Mentions of past cheating, slight angst if you squint
Tumblr media
She saw him as he entered the coffee shop. A beard covered his face but she would know that walk anywhere. She sat in the corner hoping that he wouldn’t notice her but no such luck. After he had placed his order, he turned and his eyes landed on her. Penny Vaughan was struck by the drawn appearance of his handsome face and the tiredness of his eyes. Slowly he approached her, “Penny? Penny Barron?” She smiled sadly, “Andy Barber. It’s been a long time. It’s actually Penny Vaughan now.” He motioned to the empty chair across from her, “May I?” She nodded and he sat down, “Where do I start?”
Penny let out a small laugh, “Where can one start after so many years?” Andy sighed, “I guess I deserved that. How have you been?” The woman shook her head, “Don’t. Don’t do that. Don’t pretend like you care.” Tears began to pool in Andy’s eyes, “I’m sorry, Penny. I truly am. I do care though. God, I hope you your life has turned out better than mine.” He dropped his head and turned it slightly away, “I made so many mistakes. I just wish I could take them back.” Penny reached across the table, “I’m sorry I was cruel just now about your questions. I know you only meant well. I’m married now. Twelve years. He’s an accountant.” Andy looked into her eyes, “Any kids?”
“Four. Two boys, two girls. You?” Andy couldn’t meet her gaze and began to cry, “I only had one, a son, but he’s gone now. Both he and his mother were killed in a car accident.” For a moment, Penny felt great pity for the man before her, “I’m sorry, Andy, truly I am. It couldn’t have been easy for you.” A barista came up to the table, “I have your coffee, Mr. Barber.” He accepted it. After the worker walked away, Andy turned his attention to Penny, “Thank you. It’s been a hard year. I wonder sometimes how things would be different if we had been honest with each other.”
“What happened to--” Andy paused, “to us?” The brunette glared at her ex-boyfriend, “I know you just lost your family and I hate speaking ill of the dead but you cheated on me Andy. Did you forget that. Do you expect me to forget that? You cheated on me with Laurie Whitten. The woman you impregnated and later married. You made your choice the day you were swayed by a pair of thin legs and brown eyes…” The man across from her hung his head, “I live with that regret every day. I tried… I tried to break things off with her but she threatened to keep me from taking the bar if I didn’t take responsibility. I tried to get her to keep the baby and sign my rights away but when I saw him on the ultrasound, I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t abandon them. I tried to divorce Laurie later and find you to tell you I still loved you. I wanted to make it right but you were long gone.”
The woman snorted, “Of course I was. Did you really expect me to stick around? I got a transfer and got out of dodge and the only way to do that was to leave without telling you where I was headed. I unfortunately have an appointment to get to. Goodbye, Andy. I hope your life gets better.” Andy whimpered, “Please don’t go.” Penny stood up and wandered over to the counter. A man approached her and took her hand, “Hey sweetheart. You ready to go?” Penny kissed him on the cheek, “I’m ready, Nick.” He glances back at Andy who is sitting alone at the table, tears flowing down his face, “Who is the guy you were talking to?” Penny didn’t look back, “He’s no one.”

Round 13
THE SEA EAGLE
MAKING RUGBY LEAGUE GREAT AGAIN!!!
Tumblr media
Round 13
Manly Sea Eagles      22
Defeated by
NZ Warriors             26
Tumblr media
The sooner that the NRL move Manly home games away from Home of the Gayamaygal and Garigal Peoples, and back to Fortress Brookvale the better. Manly are now in recent times, 0-2 at this venue after going down to the Warriors and the Sea Eagle implores Manly management to address this urgently before all hope is lost for season 2020. Even playing at the dreaded Central Coast would be a better option.
The game started horribly when Cherry Baby was bundled into touch from the kickoff. As Rex Mossop used to say the sideline is a precipice that should never be crossed (generally referring to inept wingers), so on this basis Cherry Baby, who is on the big bucks should know better than to put himself in such a position in the first place.
Tumblr media
And talking about inept wingers, Horhay Taufua was again found wanting in this fixture with the Warriors seeming to target his side with great success on numerous occasions leading to at least 3 of their tries. The not so young Horhay is next to useless under the high ball (as he cannot get his 110 kg frame off the ground), he has the turning circle of an Abrams M1 tank, and his propensity to come in, in defence to try and deliver a bone crushing tackle is now exposing his outside flanks. Sure, when it comes off it’s great to see (just ask Cameron Munster), but this is becoming all to rare and opposing teams are now exploiting Horhays deficiencies. As indicated last week, surely its time for a move to the forwards for Horhay, or alternatively to acquaint himself with the reserve grade coach.
In soggy conditions the undermanned and under siege Warriors leapt out of the blocks and within 15 minutes had racked up a 16-zip lead. Let’s face it in recent times Manly have very a very poor record when playing in wet conditions so such a performance was not totally unexpected.
Manly managed to hit back with tries to Tevita Finua and Moses Suli, when the Warriors had a player in the bin, but a further try to the NZ based team on the strocke of half time gave them a 20-10 lead at the break.
Only minutes into the second half, the Warriors crossed again, this time via former Manly man, Peta Hiku and at this point the Sea Eagle was reaching for the valium. There was a late surge by Manly when Warriors forward Jack Hetherington was binned for KO’ing Marty Tapau with a shot that surely warranted a sending off, but at the end of the day it was too little too late as Manly went doen 26-22.
Tumblr media
The plight of the Warriors this year has been well documented. Having to leave NZ and relocate to Australia (normally not such a bad thing), their coach being sacked, and being severely undermanned as many of their playing group gradually pull up stumps and return to their families in NZ. There was even talk of Paul Gallen coming out of retirement to join their roster. On this basis there is no shame in losing to the Warriors, there was only embarrassment. A number of Manly players need to visit the room of mirrors after such a performance, particularly also bearing in mind this was coach Hasler’s 400th game as a coach – he deserved much better!
As was the case last week, with Manly now languishing even further down the table, the Sea Eagle now implores the NRL to pull stumps on season 2020 and put us all out of our misery. Games are becoming more meaningless each week and whoever takes the premiership this year (if we get that far) will forever be remembered as winning a title that no-one really gives a flying f#$k about.
Talking of the NRL, it has been noted that they have yet to formalise the appointment of a CEO to replace Todd Greenberg. Whilst the acting CEO, Andrew Adbo is doing a sterling job (by basically staying out of the way and letting Chairman Peter V’landys get things done), surely the NRL world deserves the certainty a formal appointment for this all important role.
Whilst the Sea Eagle as always stands ready, if called upon, there is another prime canditate waiting in the wings to take the reigns at the NRL. That being none other than Victorian Premier Dan Andrews whose handling of the COVID situation in that state is a shining example of administrative and managerial excellence that once was the exclusive domain of rugby league senior management.
Tumblr media
The NRL have a proud history of appointing ex state ALP premiers to key positions, and come the next election its likely that Premier Dan will freed up for new opportunities and will be on the radar for a new challenge.
The Return of DFI
Only a month ago, Paul McGregor stood alone as the only remaining DFI (i.e. Dark Force Influenza for the young kiddies who were not reading the Sea Eagle back in 2005) infected non-premiership winning ex Dragon in the NRL coaching ranks, and he was only hanging on by a thread as the Dragons season was in free fall. A few wins later and he at least looks like seeing out the season.
Then we had the news that the DFI infected non-premiership winning ex Dragon/Shark Trent Barrett had been appointed to the head job at the Bulldogs for next season. There is no need for the Sea Eagle to make further comment about this appointment that has not already been said.
And now to top it off, it has been reported that the DFI infected non-premiership winning ex Dragon, and coaching failure at the Knights, Nathan Brown has been appointed to the head job at the Warriors next season.
Tumblr media
As was the case in Barretts appointment, surely those in charge of this decision at the very least should have sought explanation and clarification of the following questions and issues, during the interview and appointment process. Namely; “Nathan:
Have you won an NRL premiership as a player?
Have you won an NRL premiership as a coach?
Have you ever been coached at NRL club level by a premiership winner?
As a player were you ever coached by DFI patient zero, Brian Smith?
Is it possible that as a consequence of the above question, that you are infected with DFI which is still transmittable to players that you coach?
As a coach, did you ever publicly slap a player (who was also a DFI infected, ex-Dragon, non-premiership winner?) and who now coaches the Dogs?
Will you and said new Dogs Coach create a new Cup the next time the Warriors play the Dogs, known simply as the DFI Cup? Will there be a slap off in the case of a draw?
Were you sacked from your previous NRL head coaching role?
Has any team since your sacking, under a new coach improved (to wit the Newcastle Knights?)?
Tumblr media
The fact that these three, McGregor, Barrett and now Brown will all have NRL head jobs, beggars belief and highlights the ignorance and lack of rugby league acumen by so many in Club NRL management positions. The fact that the Clubs in question (i.e. Dragons, Bulldogs and Warriors) have become perennial bottom feeders is no coincidence.
And Finally Some Controversy
It was reported during the week that the appropiately named Bronco’s winger Katoni Staggs was involved in some form of leaked sex video featuring himself and a busty teen.
Tumblr media
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8600463/NRL-Kotoni-Staggs-sex-tape-scandal-Teen-allegedly-involved-identified.html
In normal circumstances it would be fair to assume that the leaking of said video would have been the handy work of the NRL player in question (think Tyrone May, Big Papi etc). However in this instance it has been revealed, following extensive viewing by the NRL Integrity Dept, that young Staggs was the victim of what has been termed “revenge porn” as the video was released by the female participant in response to being jilted by Staggs who apparently refused to partake in a threesome with her and a friend. Surely it remains now for the NRL Integrity Dept to get to the bottom of why such a reasonable request by this young lady and her friend was declined by young Staggs!
Whilst, this is fairly lame in terms of controversy, its as good as it gets in season 2020, and we can only hope that the 2020 competition is brought to an end asap with that the mother of all off-seasons will follow.
  Rules are not Rules
Tumblr media
Last week the Sea Eagle reported NRL Supremo Peter V’Landys edict that there needs to be flexibility in rules interpretation. The Sea Eagle never thought however, that many in senior positions in rugby league would take this to heart.
Here is the tale of the tape of this week’s Covid 19 protocol cluster breaches (in and of themselves they are basically meaningless, but in these challenging times, with the game’s TV revenues on the line, it still does beggar belief that somethng so simple can be flouted in the misguided belief that no one would find out):
Tumblr media
South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett fined $20,000 for breaching NRL's coronavirus protocols - Wayne Bennett had already been stood down for two weeks by the NRL after it was revealed on Thursday 6 August he and his partner had lunch at a restaurant in the inner-west Sydney suburb of Leichhardt
The Broncos Alan Langer and two other football staff members - Ryan Whitley and Blake Duncan - attended a private function in Brisbane to mark Langer's birthday - with only a few people in a private dining room upstairs at the Caxton Hotel in Brisbane. NRL breach notices have followed.
Dragon Prop Paul Vaughan was stood down and forced into a 14-day isolation "hold" after he was spotted dining at an Illawarra café ahead of his side's 24-16 loss to the Roosters on Thursday 6 August 2020. Vaughan apparently admitted to Nine News that he was at the cafe, although he has denied using a false name at the venue to escape detection.
Broncos star Tevita Pangai jnr will be fined for breaching the NRL's biosecurity rules after being caught up in a police raid on a Brisbane barber shop, after the 24-year-old Tongan international allegedly attended the opening of a barber shop which has been linked to a notorious bikies group.
Brisbane Broncos head coach Anthony Seibold has also joined three of his Broncos assistants (see above) in being placed on a "COVID hold", meaning he will be away from the team for 14 days. The Broncos played in Sydney on Friday night 7 August 2020, and Seibold allegedly stayed behind to attend to "a serious family matter”. He is expected to return to Brisbane in the next two days but will then have to isolate for two weeks.
Sea Eagle Comment
With the exception of Coach Siebold, who surely must fall into the Peter V’Landys exceptional circumstances justification for breaking rules category, the rest is not much more than what would be expected.
Although the Wayne Bennett breach is rather distressing. Of all people, one would have thought Wayne Bennett had the capacity to understand. Still it just goes to show that none of us are perfect.
And for Coach Siebold, a 2 week break might be just what the Broncos need to stop their slide to the spoon.
Tumblr media
The Sea Eagle of course considers the whole Covid 19 protocols for NRL teams as nothing short of a farce. Witness Victoria, who had all the resources in the world but still couldn’t stop private escort (sorry security) guards in quarantine hotels from having sex and generally close contact with those they were supposed to be guarding. It’s a bit much to demand perfection from NRL participants if that is the benchmark from an Australian State government.
Frankly, and the Sea Eagle has said this before, a new town needs to be created. The Sea Eagle now calls on the NRL to buy some cheap land out in outer Western NSW and just call it Chatswuhan , with the motto – No Eating of Bats Allowed.
This would be a town where rugby league and NRL officialdom go, for the sole purpose of completing the 2020 season. Persons from outside said Chatswuhan bubble could of course enter, but the usual rules apply, i.e. big Maroon sign at the border – Warning Chatswuhan is an NRL sanctioned Non-Bat Eating town - enter at own risk”.
Mandatory self isolation would also be required if anyone chose to leave (a bit like the Eagles song Hotel California, i.e. the reality is you can check out but you can never really leave).
Inside the said Chatswuhan bubble it would be a veritable free for all, a bit like Dodge City in the days of the wild west (with the exception of course – no eating of Bats).
As the man on the fat aka Sam Kekovich famously said, you know it makes sense.

Visit UK spots that inspired famous composers, from the Malvern Hills to the Suffolk coast
The British countryside is woven through with home-grown classical music, from symphonies inspired by the Scottish islands to Sir Harrison Birtwistle’s chamber composition that references a prehistoric mound in Wiltshire.
And exploring the areas which influenced a composer’s finest work, or visiting museums which celebrate their legacy, makes for an inspiring break.
British composers might not have the exuberance of Italian ones, nor the fame of Bach or Mozart, but if there’s one thing that unites them it’s that their music is tied to the landscape around them. This can range from the sound of birdsong, a blustery Suffolk day or even, in the case of Gustav Holst when he wrote The Planets, the clear night skies.
Inspirational: Black Pear Tours has a self-guided, five-night Elgar walking tour through the Severn Valley and surrounding hills, visiting Malvern and Worcester
Sir Edward Elgar, perhaps Britain’s most famous composer, wrote the Pomp And Circumstance Marches as well as the music for Land Of Hope And Glory. Visit The Firs (nationaltrust.org.uk/the-firs), his birthplace in Worcester, and it’s soon clear how much the countryside meant to him, especially the soft green hills where he grew up and continued to live near for much of his life.
Elgar composed the Enigma Variations in Malvern in 1898, each one a musical portrait of a friend and inspired by the magnificent landscape. A keen cyclist and walker, he wrote The Apostles after cycling to the beautifully still Longdon Marsh, today a nature reserve and haven for birdwatchers.
And while staying at Spetchley Park Gardens, as a guest of the owner when it was privately owned, Elgar penned part of his choral masterpiece, The Dream Of Gerontius. The little-known 30-acre garden, three miles east of Worcester, is a Victorian delight, remains largely unaltered and contains one of the country’s biggest private collections of peonies (spetchleygardens.co.uk).
The dining area at The Cottage In The Wood hotel in Malvern Wells, which has a sense of Edwardian generosity
If you want a relaxing stay nearby, The Cottage In The Wood hotel in Malvern Wells has a sense of Edwardian generosity and spectacular views, especially in its 1919 restaurant. B&B costs from £109 (cottageinthewood.co.uk).
To dig a little deeper, Black Pear Tours has a self-guided, five-night Elgar walking tour through the Severn Valley and surrounding hills, visiting Malvern and Worcester. The price starts at £415pp and covers maps, B&B accommodation and luggage transportation between hotels (blackpearwalkingtours.com/the-walks/elgar-trail).
Elgar was also a regular guest at Long White Cloud, a house close to the Thames in Bray which is now part of the luxurious Monkey Island hotel (monkeyislandestate.co.uk). It was here that he worked on his Violin Concerto.
Not every Elgar haunt is so grand. On the Isle of Wight you can stay in Bermuda House, a Victorian villa in Ventnor where he honeymooned with wife Alice (ventnorselfcatering.co.uk/bermuda-house).
London has a special classical musical landscape of its own. Baroque composer George Frideric Handel left his native Germany and lived here for more than 40 years, becoming a British citizen (he’s buried in Poets’ Corner in Westminster Abbey, alongside Thomas Hardy and Charles Dickens). And, like Elgar, he had a strong connection with the Thames.
His Water Music, still wonderfully cheerful and party-minded, was written for a pageant on the river in 1717 where musicians performed while bobbing around on a boat. His Music For The Royal Fireworks was first performed in Green Park in 1749 flanked by a recently built Buckingham Palace.
Sir Edward Elgar, perhaps Britain’s most famous composer
Handel’s home in Mayfair’s Brook Street also comes with a plaque to Jimi Hendrix, who spent a year living next door. The two very different musicians also share a museum (handelhendrix.org).
Just around the corner from the designer shops of Bond Street, the museum celebrates both with small but very popular concerts of Handel’s chamber music and also jam sessions, Hendrix-style. Until audiences can enjoy live concerts again, they are being filmed and can be found on the museum’s website.
Also on Brook Street, Claridge’s has history and comfortable double rooms costing from £660 a night (www.claridges.co.uk).
There’s something particularly magical about hearing a piece of music in the place it was first designed to be performed, and Britain’s churches and cathedrals will be for ever intertwined with such an experience, even in more modern cathedrals – Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem was commissioned for the opening of the newly consecrated Coventry Cathedral in 1962.
Next year, Martin Randall Travel has a trip to Oxford that focuses on Divine Office, a series of psalms and hymns written to be performed at certain times of the day.
Held over four days in a variety of colleges, including Magdalen and Christ Church, there’s strong emphasis on British composers, ranging from Thomas Tallis and Henry Purcell through to Britten and modern works. Prices start at £2,580pp including accommodation, breakfasts and some dinners (martinrandall.com/divine-office).
Many of Britain’s oldest stately homes nurtured the talent of English composers. Cliveden House – now a luxury hotel – saw the first performance of Rule, Britannia! in 1740 when Frederick, George III’s eldest son, lived there. Room-only from £445 (clivedenhouse.co.uk).
These days, patronage operates in different ways. Glyndebourne (glyndebourne.com) and Garsington Opera (garsingtonopera.org) are just two historic organisations that started in stately homes.
As well as staging classic operas, both commission new compositions that play to music fans who come to take in culture amid meadows and formal gardens. This year the season has been disrupted but operas can be viewed online, and at 5pm today you can watch the premiere of Rossini’s The Barber Of Seville from Glyndebourne on YouTube.
Cliveden House – now a luxury hotel – saw the first performance of Rule, Britannia! in 1740 when Frederick, George III’s eldest son, lived there
Ralph Vaughan Williams devoted his life to collecting English folk tunes before they were lost, and used them as a basis for lyrical classical music, from the glorious The Lark Ascending to the more mournful Norfolk Rhapsody and In The Fen Country.
He grew up at the 17th Century mansion Leith Hill Place in Surrey, now owned by the National Trust. There are some glorious walks that allow you to follow in his footsteps. Even if you can’t guarantee hearing a lark these days, you can really get a sense of the peaceful, nature-filled landscape that Vaughan Williams grew up in (nationaltrust.org.uk/leith-hill/trails/leith-hill-woodland-walk).
With eight acres of protected landscape, including a river, the rather special Wotton House Country Estate Hotel, which dates from the 16th Century, is a ten-minute drive from Leith Hill Place. Room-only from £110 (wottonhouse.co.uk).
Benjamin Britten was born in Lowestoft in 1913 but spent most of his life down the Suffolk coast in Aldeburgh, working on operas such as Peter Grimes, Billy Budd and The Turn Of The Screw.
Sound sculpture: The Scallop on Aldeburgh beach, dedicated to Suffolk-born Benjamin Britten
His home, the Red House (brittenpears.org/visit), full of hip 1960s furnishings and his purpose-built Composition room, is open to the public. Visitors are welcome to picnic in the classic cottage garden, but venture outside this protected zone and you’re on the starker, moodier North Sea coast that suddenly makes sense of the Sea Interludes in Peter Grimes.
Full Aldeburgh immersion can be had by staying at the seafront Brudenell Hotel, a mile from the Scallop, Maggi Hambling’s controversial four-metre-high steel sculpture dedicated to Britten. Doubles from £150, including breakfast (brudenellhotel.co.uk).
Britain’s composers tend to leave festivals as one of their legacies. Britten set up the Aldeburgh Festival in 1948, starting as a few concerts in the nearby Jubilee Hall. It is now held in Snape Maltings (snapemaltings.co.uk) – a venue converted from a barley warehouse which is on the banks of the River Alde and surrounded by fields.
The Aldeburgh Festival has been cancelled this year, but some of its archives are now online so it’s more accessible than ever. It’s due to host the festival again in 2021.
Three Choirs Festival, which runs each year at Worcester, Gloucester and Hereford cathedrals (3choirs.org) is most closely associated with Elgar but has also featured work composed by Sir Arthur Sullivan, whose favourite collaborations were with the dramatist W. S. Gilbert, resulting in The Pirates Of Penzance and The Mikado.
Felix Mendelssohn visited Staffa (pictured) in 1829 – and wrote an overture inspired by it first performed in 1833 in Berlin
Fingal’s Cave was written by Felix Mendelssohn about Staffa, an uninhabited island in the Inner Hebrides, when he visited it in 1829. Queen Victoria’s favourite composer, he dedicated his Scottish Symphony to her.
And this tradition of Scottish scenery inspiring music continued into the 20th Century. Composer and conductor Sir Peter Maxwell Davies lived in the Orkney Islands for more than 40 years, using the location to inspire operas – most joyously with An Orkney Wedding With Sunrise, depicting the aftermath of a riotous wedding.
If ever there was a year to enjoy the remote beauty of the Orkneys, it’s 2020.

The Undercut: A Bold and Edgy Look For Men
Tumblr media
The undercut has long been associated with boldness, edge, and modern masculinity. This versatile style, which leaves the sides and back sharply trimmed while allowing the top to remain longer, has become a popular choice for men of all ages. From celebrities to everyday fashion-forward individuals, the undercut is making waves as a go-to option for anyone seeking a standout look. In this blog, we’ll dive deep into what makes the undercut hairstyle for men such a strong contender in the world of grooming, and how you can pull it off.
What Is an Undercut?
An undercut is characterized by closely cropped sides and a longer top, creating a stark contrast that gives off a modern, rebellious vibe. While the style can vary in terms of how short the sides are or how long the top remains, the essential trait of an undercut is this dramatic difference in length.
This hairstyle works well with many different textures and lengths, whether you have straight, wavy, or curly hair. One of the many reasons for its popularity is its versatility; the top can be styled in numerous ways, including slicked back, tousled, or spiked up, depending on your mood or the occasion.
Why Choose an Undercut?
The undercut for men’s hair has become a defining look, especially for those who want something that’s both stylish and easy to maintain. Here are a few reasons why men gravitate toward this hairstyle:
Versatility: The undercut can be styled in many ways, from a clean and polished finish to a rugged, textured look.
Low Maintenance: Once the sides and back are trimmed, maintaining the top can be as simple as running some product through your hair.
Modern Appeal: The undercut is fashionable and continues to be a go-to choice for anyone wanting to stay on-trend.
For men with short undercut hairstyles, this look is especially effective. The shorter the top, the easier it is to manage while still maintaining that bold, eye-catching appearance.
Best Undercut Variations for Men
When choosing an undercut, it’s essential to pick one that complements your facial features and hair type. Here are some of the top haircut designs for men featuring the undercut:
Classic Undercut: This version keeps the top longer, allowing it to be slicked back or left tousled for a more laid-back style. This timeless look never goes out of fashion.
Disconnected Undercut: This bold style features a sharp, noticeable contrast between the top and the sides. Perfect for those who want to make a statement.
Fade Undercut: For a softer take on the undercut, the fade version blends the longer top into the sides for a more gradual transition. This is an excellent option for men who want a cleaner, more professional look.
Curly Undercut: If you have curls, the undercut can help you showcase your natural texture on top while keeping the sides short and manageable.
Whether you choose a haircut for men with a fade or a more dramatic contrast, you can achieve a polished yet edgy look with this style.
Styling Tips for Your Undercut
Once you’ve decided to go for the undercut short-hair men's style, it’s time to think about how you’ll style it. Fortunately, the undercut is highly customizable, so you can switch things up depending on your preferences.
Slicked Back: Use a pomade or gel for a sleek, polished look. This style is great for formal events or a professional appearance.
Textured Mess: If you prefer a more relaxed vibe, matte clay can give you that messy, bedhead look that’s effortlessly cool.
Quiff: For those who want to add volume to the top, consider incorporating a quiff into your undercut for men's hair. This gives the style an extra touch of sophistication.
No matter which styling technique you choose, regular maintenance at your favorite barber shop in Vaughan is essential to keeping your undercut looking fresh. How to Choose the Right Haircut for Men According to Face Shape?
When it comes to selecting a haircut, it’s not just about picking the latest trend or the style you’ve seen on your favorite celebrity. One of the most crucial factors in determining the best haircut for you is your face shape. Whether you have a round face,a square face, or something in between, understanding how to choose the right haircut can make a significant difference in how you look and feel. In this blog, we’ll guide you through the process of finding the perfect haircut for your face shape, ensuring you leave the salon looking and feeling your best.
Why Face Shape Matters?
Your face shape plays a vital role in determining which hairstyles will complement your natural features. The right haircut can enhance your best features, create balance, and even alter the perception of your face’s proportions. Conversely, a haircut that doesn’t suit your face shape can accentuate features you might prefer to downplay. This is why understanding your face shape is the first step in achieving the perfect haircut for your face.
Identifying Your Face Shape
Before diving into specific hairstyles, it’s important to accurately determine your face shape. Here’s a quick guide to help you identify it:
Round Face: If your face is about as wide as it is long with soft, rounded edges, you likely have a round face shape.
Square Face: A strong jawline and an equal width across your forehead, cheekbones, and jaw indicate a square face shape.
Oval Face: If your face is longer than it is wide, with a slightly narrower jawline than your forehead, you have an oval face shape.
Heart-Shaped Face: A broader forehead with a narrower chin characterizes a heart-shaped face.
Diamond Face: High cheekbones with a narrower forehead and jawline suggest a diamond face shape.

Choosing the Right Haircut for Your Face Shape
Now that you’ve identified your face shape, let’s explore the best haircut options to enhance your natural features.
1. Round Face: For those with a round face, the goal is to create the illusion of length and add definition to your features. Opt for haircuts that add height and angles. The best haircut for men with round faces includes styles with short sides and a bit of length on top, such as a pompadour or a quiff.
2. Square Face: A square face shape is characterized by a strong jawline, so you’ll want to soften the angles with your haircut. For men with square faces include styles that are short on the sides with some length on top. A crew cut or a classic undercut with a side part can work wonders.
3. Oval Face: An oval face shape is often considered the most versatile, as it can pull off almost any haircut. The key is to avoid styles that make your face look longer than it is. The haircut for men with oval faces includes short to medium-length styles that keep the hair off the face. A textured crop or a side part with volume works well.
4. Heart-Shaped Face: For a heart-shaped face, the goal is to balance a wider forehead with a narrower chin. The best haircut for men with heart-shaped faces includes styles that add volume around the chin, such as a longer fringe or a medium-length style with layers.
5. Diamond Face: A diamond face shape can benefit from hairstyles that soften the angles and highlight the cheekbones. The best haircut for men with diamond faces includes styles that are full at the top and sides, such as a textured fringe or longer layers.
Choosing the right haircut for your face shape is essential for enhancing your natural beauty and achieving a balanced look. By understanding your face shape and selecting a haircut that complements it, you can transform your appearance and boost your confidence. Whether you have a round, square, oval, heart-shaped, or diamond face, there’s a perfect haircut waiting for you. If you are looking for the best haircut in Vaughan, Visit Premium Barber Shop Inc.
