god cursed him by giving him an addiction to pain (it feels Good tm) but he cant hurt himself, so he has to rely on other people lol which. is tricky. turns out if u ask ppl to hurt u they will usually just awkwardly sidle away.

he has the ability to alter peoples emotions by dancing so he works at a nightclub and performs to make the audience feel rly positive heightened emotion, like a trip but w no negative side effects lol

thaaaat is p much it haha, i do also like the idea of him being kind of like a weird vigilante serial killer / criminal hunter bc he can pose as a victim get beat tf up and then turn them in haha but. i havent rly explored that avenue bc he refuses to contribute anything positive towards society xx

your portrayal is kind of actually amazing? i WILL admit i havent read most of the comics but tangle is just SO GOOD and SO MUCH FUN! just super bouncy and joyful while also having her moments here and there whenever something happens because who doesn't. and surge feels SO REAL.

" This means alot! i will say my Tangle i think is a big departure from Canon as Canon Tangle is a bit one note at times. They just haven't got to flesh her out at all, but that's really more an issue with Sonic characters as a whole. So that's what i do! i try to flesh characters out, give them backstories and make them feel more real well as real as a furry alien creature can be!

Honestly before i started to interact with carol i had no idea what to do with Surge. So alot of her development is thanks to you! so i don't think i can take all the credit. Carol has really helped push her in just the right direction and really set her on a redemption arc which i always swore i'd never do! but its been a load of fun and i'm just gonna keep the ball rolling as its really made me love her character even more!

When it comes to Amy and Tails... that's more just me disliking how Sega has portrayed them. Amy is ALOT better in IDW but when i started to write her i decided i didn't want sweet soft Amy! but someone who lost that side of her because of War, and the things she's lost! she's got alot of fun backstory to! such as her power being strictly magical, and her being a sort of magical girl trope! mixed with traditional Witch/Wicca concepts! and Tails was honestly me going " but what if Tails was a snarky cunt like Sonic " and when you think about it---he probably is. Sonic did raise him after all!

as for Lilac i'm still really getting a feel for her, but i really did click with Milla. She has alot of potential and i wanna explore her being a creation of brevon alot more! but that probably means diving into some really dark subjects for such a bright sunny character! so i'm gonna do it but---oh boy batten down the hatches cause that is gonna be a rocky plotline! me torture my muses HAHAH never! as for Lilac, i got plans--- things to make you cry! just need to spend more time on that blog! but its coming! "

Just gonna vent real quick because it’s art related and obviously y’all follow me because you like me/are bots, so... It’s a bit of a bummer or inspiration depending on how you look at it, but it got long haaaa

Anyways, I’m on an artist alley FB group, and a compulsive helper. Someone’s asking about slush casting resin in a pinch, and after I add on to something someone else has said, 3000 other opinions come in.

And I add an addendum to my post about how I haven’t tried to do this personally, but have a wide and shallow knowledge of many things. Breadth over depth.

And I thought of that phrase. You hear it a lot in school. Deep knowledge of a few subjects, or knowing enough that overlaps in many so that you can just keep on truckin. I love to learn new things. Like, it’s the only hobby I practice more than art.

Which is AMAZING as someone who teaches elementary school. I get enough flack for not going to higher grades, but I hope what I teach stays with them. Anyway, I love everything I do. Mostly because if I don’t, I don’t do it

But it can be a bummer in a con sense. Most con works are fanart, so even now I struggle with pricing things. People are more likely to buy something they already know. If a friend comes over and is amazed by a doll you have, it’s probably a recognizable character. I even do this. Instead of buyin a super cute sock spider at a con I was at, I went for the Vulkin plush from Undertale.*

A spider’s cute, but it’s a little more niche than a popular videogame.

So a lot of times at cons, I underprice my stuff hoping it’ll grab that potential impulse buy. BUT SO MANY PEOPLE BOUGHT THE BAPHOS AND ALL AT FULL PRICE. I usually undercharge if it’s a kid though, bc dang, I’ve had so many parents look at me dirty because I sell “toys” and they think that I’m trying to get their kids to beg them for it. Look dude, my dad denied me everything in a similar vein when I was a kid bordering on public shame. Your kid being at my table is wicked troubling because I don’t want you to treat them the way I was because they liked something unique.

Anyways, I’m rambling. I’m a really insecure person about my work, but I’ve got the charisma/bravado to make people think I’m not. Being as curious as I am, I know myself well enough to know I’ll never be “the painter” or even “the plush artist”. I don’t go into communities for things because I know I’ll run into drama/it’ll suck me in. I love til it hurts me, so I keep to myself. I love helping, but am never confident enough in my own abilities to think I’m an authority on the matter.

But here’s a ray of sunshine. If you’re reading this after loving my work and thinking I can do no wrong, take this as confirmation I’m human! Artists aren’t machines, no matter how much you idolize them. Even now, I’m constantly learning to do things I have tried at in the past and failed. SO many things. I tried to teach myself knitting in high school, and wasn’t able to actually learn til the end of college. I wasn’t ready for it then. Even with simple things, you may just not be in the right frame of mind yet! I always think of it as when you breeze through like... the first pokemon gym and then are completely at a loss on the next route when you keep getting pummeled. Even though you beatthe rock gym, the next random trainers grind you into the dust! And that’s ok!!! You were ready for one thing, and life threw you through a loop after the first success. Keep going. Try something else, and come back later. I can’t tell you how many times something clicked only after I took a few days/weeks/months/YEARS’ break. 

Every town has a different job for each NPC. You can’t see Belethor to join the Dark Brotherhood, and you’re no different! Each person has a different set of skills, and the sooner you realize that you can’t be your own town, the sooner you move forward.

This gets me a lot. I have a coworker I’ll be working with next year VERY CLOSELY, and we do not get along. I have ADHD and depression, so I’m wicked messy. She has OCD and can’t stand being in my room. But we each bring something to the table. While we don’t get along well, she has experience in the field, and I have creativity. I can barely stand how rigid she is, but it works for her! Being more organized can help me, just like being more flexible could help her. 

I’m fairly certain that if I were the only art teacher at the school**  the place would burn down.

*I remembered on the way home that Toby Fox had repeatedly asked people to not make merch so I’m not jazzed w myself.

** We have a 1.5 allocation, meaning there are so many classes and students that one art teacher can’t handle them. Contractually. Like. We’d need 40+ kids in a class.
