When the mass layoff in 2008, she was unemployed for six to seven months in California, struggling to support herself and her kid. Realizing that California's emphasis on the film industry did not fit with her career goals, she boldly moved to New York, where she swiftly obtained a job at an insurance firm and began rebuilding her life.
🏙️🎉While working at a New York bank in 2018, her manager questioned her capacity to buy a Manhattan apartment, which proved critical. This distrust motivated Raja to pursue entrepreneurship and independence. The World Post Day marks the Anniversary of the establishment of Universal Postal Union, headquarter at Bern and is held on 09th October of every year. Department of Posts is celebrating National Postal Week 2023 from 09th October, 2023 to 13th October, 2023.
India Post, a vital part of the country's communication and logistics infrastructure, has undergone significant changes over time. From its inception in 1854 during British rule to its
present role as a multifaceted postal, financial, and retail service provider, India Post has adapted to the evolving needs of the nation.
The late 20th century witnessed a paradigm shift with the advent of electronic communication. To stay relevant, India Post embraced technological changes, introducing services like speed post and express parcel post. These innovations aimed to provide faster and more efficient postal solutions, catering to the changing demands of a rapidly modernizing society.
The launch of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) in 2018 marked another significant step. This move was aimed at leveraging technology to provide banking services to the unbanked and underbanked population. IPPB's services, accessible through post offices and mobile phones, further bridged the gap in financial inclusion. Simultaneously, India Post expanded its retail services, collaborating with e-commerce companies to facilitate the delivery of goods. The rise of online shopping in India presented an opportunity for India Post to redefine its role in the logistics chain, becoming a key player in the e-commerce ecosystem.

Facts and Figures
Maharashtra Circle consists of two States i.e. Maharashtra and Goa. There are 6 regions, 43 Postal and 7 RMS Divisions. With the wide network of post offices viz. 61 Head Post offices, 2,157 Sub Post offices and 11,812 Branch Post offices, distributed across rural areas of Maharashtra and Goa, the Department is able to provide banking and delivery services with a total of 19,930 Departmental Staff and 19,269 Gramin Dak Sevaks.
Since the last five years, Maharashtra Circle has recruited 5,465 Postal Assistants, 5,863 Postmen/Mail guards and 3,635 Multi-Tasking staff. Besides, 9,344 Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) have been engaged in Branch Post offices in rural areas. During the current year, 6,282 posts has been notified for recruitment of GDS. The process for engagement in under progress.
Parcel Directorate has been set up for capturing the e-Commerce Market. For processing the parcels in Maharashtra Circle, 27 Nodal Delivery centers are functioning for direct and mechanized delivery of parcels. Agreement for Rail Gati Shakti, joint parcel product with the Indian Railways is signed to leverage last mile reach of India Post and middle mile strength of Railways. Average daily receipt of parcels are around 44,500 of all kinds. Average daily receipt of mail of all categories is 18.95 lakhs.
India post have ventured into the Global Market through Dak Niryat Kendras. In Maharashtra Circle, 56 Dak Niryat Kendras are functional wherein, the small and medium exporters have registered themselves. These exporters can file online Postal Bill of Export for seamless booking of commercial export of parcels.
India post is the largest postal network in the world, which serves as a critical lifeline for communication and financial services in India. Post Office is One Stop Shop. In Maharashtra Circle, 41 offices function as Passport Sewa Kendras, 1288 provide Aadhaar Services, 52 offices facilitate booking of Railway tickets, 15,169 post offices provide services of Common Service Centers. All the post offices provide Insurance and Financial services. 75 ATM's have been installed in Maharashtra Circle.
Services of Post offices viz. Postal Life Insurance, Core Banking Service, India Post Payments Bank services and other Postal Services such as booking and delivery of articles are offered to members of public residing in remote areas using RICT devices, through 11,812 Rural Branch Post Offices, including 829 located in LWE areas.
Department of Posts has launched Darpan 2.0 Android mobile App for providing faster and safer Postal services to customers in remote areas. Under this mega launch project, old RICT devices have been replaced by supply of new Mobile Handsets to all Branch Postmasters (i.e. End Users) under Darpan 2.0 Android Mobile App. 11,812 mobile devices have been supplied to Branch offices.
In respect of Saving Bank activities, Maharashtra circle has 2.59 crores of Live accounts. 3.55 lakhs Mahila Samman Saving Certificate Schemes accounts amounting to Rs. 2185 crores have been opened in Maharashtra Circle up to 02.10.2023 since the date of introduction i.e. 1/4/2023.
Maharashtra circle has opened 11 lakhs India Post Payment Bank accounts during the current financial year, contributing to a total of 85.77 lakhs of IPPB accounts since inception. IPPB also provides third party products viz. GIC. Last year Maharastra topped the Pan India list with 9.5 lakh policies with premium of 38.38 Crores. Besides this, IPPB also provides generation of Live Certificates for the Pensioners. During last year, 57,928 live certificates were generated. One instance of how the postman can reach the old and sick is annexed in Annexure ‘A’.
Maharashtra Postal circle has achieved new premium collection of Rs. 23.97 crores with 25,500 number of policies in respect of PLI and Rs.15.39 crores with 25,413 no of policies in respect of RPLI during the current financial year.
Maharashtra Circle has achieved a revenue of more than 1500 Cr each, during the last two years. The current revenue achievement is Rs.724 cr upto August 2023
The deployment of QR code-based payment facility in post offices is a milestone in the society's migration towards a digital economy, as the Post Office is an institution of the common man whose social significance goes much beyond its revenue figures. Provision of digital payment facility is a future- oriented initiative which marks the presence of the post office in the revolution of “Digital India” campaign and contributes to India becoming a digitally empowered society. Total transactions done during 2022-2023 were 332069 with an amount of Rs. 4.37 cr. In the current year 91874 transactions have been done with a total amounting to Rs. 1.62cr.

Digital Life Certificate (DLC)

He was bed ridden then and his family members were worried about how to get done the DLC for his pension. One day his daughter Smt Shama Deshpande visited Hadapsar IE post office and met Shri Pandurang Anande, Post man Hadapsar IE and explain him the whole situation. Immediately Shri Pandurang Anande went to Shinde Nursing home with her and not only done the DLC of Shri Ramesh Sabnis but also open the IPPB account. Due to this prompt and doorstep service in the ICU ward by our Post man every body was appreciated him and expressed thanks to the Department of Posts. After this Shri Pandurang Anand have served many pensioners and he is amongst the one of the top performed in the Pune Region in providing IPPB services to all sections of public.

Introduction
The ex-managing director and co-founder of BharatPe, Ashneer Grover's wife Madhuri Jain, and other family members are being sued for up to Rs 88 crore in damages. The business claims that the Grover family fabricated invoices, hired phoney vendors to provide services for the business, and overcharged the business for them.
Facts of the case:
Bharatpe company was incorporated in March 2018. The company is famous for developing a single QR code for all types of payment and making such payments interoperable. - Ashneer Grover was the Managing Director and co-founder of Bharatpe. His wife Madhuri Jain Grover was working as Head of Controls at Bharatpe. - It is alleged that the company was under the complete supervision of Ashneer Groover and his family from 2018- January 2022. It was during this period funds were misappropriated by them. - At the beginning of the year 2022(January), an audio clip of Ashneer Grover was leaked which involved using of inappropriate language and threats to Kotak Group employees who failed to allot funds for Ashneer to buy the IPO of Nykaa Company. - Ashneer Grover took voluntary leave after this phone conversation. - Kotak Mahindra Bank was pursuing legal action against Ashneer Grover for using inappropriate language against its employee. - To review and determine whether Ashneer committed the offense of misconduct, the company’s Board appointed Shadul Amarchand Mangaldas, Alvarez, and Marsal as well as PwC to conduct corporate governance. - Madhuri Jain Grover was fired from the company for misappropriating funds and Ashneer Grover resigns from Company in March/2022 - The company has filed a criminal case with the Economic Offences Wing (EWO) in New Delhi on 17 counts which include criminal breach of trust, forgery, embezzlement, destroying of the evidence, etc. -  A civil suit is filed before the High Court of Delhi for recovery of damages of Rs 88 crore in the month of December/2022 - The Delhi High court issued notice to Ashneer Grover and his family and asked them to reply within 2 weeks. The summons has been issued to the family members.   The Company is demanding Rs. 88 crore from Ashneer and his family members for the misappropriation of company funds. Ashneer Grover’s wife Madhuri Jain Grover has raised fake invoices of non-existing vendors and overcharged the Company for recruitment by forwarding such invoices to the accounts department. This was supported by her brother and other family members. How the Company has arrived at damages of Rs 88 crore: - Against fake invoices of non-existing vendors                       -Rs. 71.7 crore - Claim for penalty paid for GST authorities                - Rs. 1.66 crore - Payment to vendors providing recruitment service    - Rs. 7.6 crore - Payment for damaging the reputation                                   - Rs. 5 crore The company has also asked the court to pass a permanent injunction restraining Ashneer Grover and his family members from making defamatory statements and derogatory statements concerning every member of the company and restrain them from publishing or printing them on any social media or another place. The company has also asked Ashneer and his family members to disclose their assets.
Laws:
- Misappropriation of funds: “ Without prejudice to any liability including repayment of any debt under this Act or any other law for the time being in force, any person who is found to be guilty of fraud involving an amount of at least 10 lakh rupees or 1%of the turnover of the company, whichever is lower, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than six months but which may extend to ten years and shall also be liable to fine which shall not be less than the amount involved in the fraud, but which may extend to three times the amount involved in the fraud” The term fraud for the purpose includes “affairs of a company or anybody corporate, includes any act, omission, concealment of any fact or abuse of position committed by any person or any other person with the connivance in any manner, with intent to deceive, to gain undue advantage from, or to injure the interests of, the company or its shareholders or its creditors or any other person, whether or not there is any wrongful gain or wrongful loss. - Defamation: . Whoever defames another shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, with a fine, or with both. - Criminal breach of trust: criminal breach of trust shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, with a fine, or with both. - Forgery . Whoever commits forgery shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, with a fine, or with both. - Destruction of Evidence: :  penalty of the amount involved in the fraud or 3 times the amount of fraud/ imprisonment of minimum 6 months to maximum 10 years.
Probable defense Ashneer Gover  and his family members can take:
- Lack of intention behind the misappropriation of the company’s funds. It was done for Companies benefit and not for personal gain. - Ashneer and his family members had reasonable and good faith to believe that they are the rightful owner of the funds of the company. - The acts were done with the due permission of other members or directors of the company. - All the allegations are wrong and this could be proved with all the necessary documents and evidence. - There was a force or use of violence or threat used to perform the act of fund misappropriation. - The evidence provided by the opposition is insufficient to prove that the funds were misappropriated by Ashneer and his family. - By providing sufficient evidence to prove the sentences made against the company on social media are true and not defamatory.

Big Banks With Big Investments in the Gender Identity Industry
Last week I did a deep dive into the bankers behind the leadership of the LGBT agenda. Let’s now take a look at the banks themselves, twisting themselves five ways from Sunday to support the tiny part of the population calling themselves “transgender.”
Again, before we begin this exploration, lets contemplate for a moment, the enormous and rapid, global changes underway in institutions, corporations, stores, governments, schools, medical facilities, women’s organizations, etc. for people avoiding the biological reality of their sexed bodies and how expensive these changes are. Dictionaries are being overhauled, laws are being fought to allow men into women’s sports and safe spaces, young women who’ve elected to have their breasts amputated and who believe they are now and have always been male, are being used in corporate advertising, signaling progress. Corporations, stores, bars, restaurants and institutions are overhauling their bathrooms and their health insurance policies. Pronouns are being added to everything and a gargantuan global, political infrastructure has been built to drive the normalization of body dissociation. AND, supposedly, this is all happening because governments, politicians, Amnesty International, the ACLU, the UN and other myriad organizations, care so much about these people with identity issues. Dang, I have a bridge to sell anyone who is buying this nonsense.
But, let’s move on. Banks. Who are the giants making way for .03% of the population?
Last year, Mastercard created the very first credit card for people calling themselves “transgender” and “non-binary,” as if they were some subset of humans and not the males and females they were born as. “True Name” Pride credit card, was the name given to this roll out, which basically allows people to use whatever the hell name they want on their credit cards. I doubt they’re allowing for a change of social security number along with it.
According to Business Statement for “Transgender “ equality, Bank of America, Citi Bank, BNP Paribas, BNY Mellon, Deutsche bank, Ernst & Young, HSBC, JP Morgan Chase and Co., Morgan Stanley, US Bank, and Visa are just a handful of banks, credit card companies, and investment houses that are all-in for trans, under a banner of “inclusivity and diversity (I&D).” This I&D corporate-speak is being rolled out everywhere and looks a helluva lot like uniformity of thought and behavior that people are being punished for not abiding by.  Citi Bank, Bank of America and Capital One Banks are all-in supporters of PLFLAG. Rolddy Leyva, Vice President of Global Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DIB is a variation on I&D) for Capital One is particularly concerned with black “trans women," who he believes, become targets of hate and violence with appalling regularity, when of course there is no proof of any such thing. According to several reports, the number of men of color pretending to be women killed in the US in 2019 was 20. Twenty men who like to wear dresses and perform femininity, many working as prostitutes, a dangerous experience to begin with, were killed by other men over the course of one year. Let’s put this into perspective. In 2018, there were 238 women killed by male single-offenders in the state of Texas alone, not to mention the other 49 states. Somehow, none of these corporations, stores, restaurants, bars, medical institutions, or banks care about the vulnerability of females. There have been no special workshops to create a safe environment for women at work. No encouragement for employees to be an ally to women, no lacquered placards denoting allyship and no education to enlighten employees to the fact that women are basically under siege in the US, let alone elsewhere in the world.  
Wells Fargo, funding GLAAD, is making it very comfortable for their male employees to pretend to be female.
In 2007 Goldman Sachs added health-insurance coverage for unnecessary genital surgeries on people rearranging their sex markers, as part of a push to attract top talent and recruit and retain a more “diverse” workforce. The surgery alone could cost an individual anywhere from $5,000 to $150,000 if they paid out of pocket, depending on their particular situation. That figure doesn't include hormone and other drug treatments. Goldman Sachs (GS, Fortune 500)' plan covers the actual surgery, as well as “transgender”-related prescription drugs, such as wrong-sex hormone injections. Goldman is not the only financial firm that offers such “benefits.” Bank of America (BAC, Fortune 500), Deutsche Bank (DB) and Wachovia (WB, Fortune 500) also offer some level of coverage for brutal, dangerous and unhealthy sex characteristic rearrangements.
Maeve DuVally, a male managing director at Goldman Sachs with a penchant for black, high-heeled pumps, finds it easy to pretend to be female at work. Sachs has made it not only effortless, but surely provided part of the impetus for DuVally to discover his “transness” after attending a meeting last year at the bank.  Prior to the meeting in March, DuVally was only comfortable dressing in “women’s clothes” at home. Then, “an invitation went out to the bank’s employees: Goldman’s L.G.B.T. network was hosting a panel on “how to be stronger allies to the transgender and gender non-conforming community.” DuVally showed up to the event, in Goldman’s auditorium, in a wig and makeup, and afterward he introduced himself to some bank employees. At the November 22nd meeting employees were instructed to stop using pronouns which recognize the average biological, physiological, and psychological distinctions between men and women, and included a video and complex instructions on the new order of business.
“DuVally found the event encouraging. One co-worker, who watched it remotely from London, took copious notes and emailed them to the communications group afterward. Everyone who attended received laminated cards explaining correct pronoun usage. DuVally realized, he said, that it was time to come out as “transgender” at Goldman.” He went on to “come out” on various international talk-shows and news platforms as well.
Goldman has also begun an initiative to update its banks internal directory to allow employees to designate their preferred pronouns.
Barclays has long been leading the charge on LGBT+ rights in the workplace. The bank was headline sponsor at Pride 2018 around the world. Head of Region for Home Solutions West at Barclays, Amy Stanning, another male pretending to be a female, has been made quite comfortable at work too.
Aside from the obvious cognitive dissonance of these corporate D&I programs which in part seek to balance out sex-based inequality on their staff, but then hire men that can then be counted as women, there is the curious massive corporate interest for .03% of population pretending to be the opposite sex, or to not have a sex. At least, this should make people curious, and yet if they are, they aren’t talking.  It almost seems as if these corporations are expecting a lot more people identifying as something they are not.
Let us not lose sight of the powerful lunatic behind this façade of inclusivity and his agenda. Martine Rothblatt, the founding father of the transgender empire, headed a luncheon with Beth Brooke-Marciniak in 2016 to celebrate LGBT OutWOMEN Business Leadership. Brooke-Marciniak, head of public policy at Ernst & Young and Co-Chair for Partnership for Global LGBTIQ+ Equality, was voted one of the most powerful women in the world ten times. Rothblatt is a transhumanist that supports corporate I&D events while simultaneously promoting the idea that transgender is an onramp to transhumanism at other events, events funded by Arcus Foundation, the most powerful LGBT NGO in the world. “The re-creation of the human body has already begun,” Rothblatt tells us.
It would make far more sense that these D&I policies purportedly for .03% of the population, are in actuality for the generation of biologically augmented humans bound to follow the corporate normalization of body dissociation for profit.

        James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser was born and raised in the Scottish Highlands. Many people around him, especially the other 13 members of the "New Jacobites", felt the same way. Some of his friends emigrated to the Republic of Ireland, others to France or the Netherlands. For Jamie and his family another door had opened many years before.          Jared Fraser, one of Jamie's uncles, had gone to Paris in his youth and (starting from the French capital) had built up a flourishing, Europe-wide wine trade. He had also opened a branch in Berlin. From there the entire business for Germany and South-East Europe was coordinated. In order to save taxes and to invest the proceeds of his business profitably despite the European Central Bank's zero-interest policy at that time, Jared Fraser had bought real estate. Among the houses he had purchased in the state of Brandenburg was a well-preserved manor house just some kilometers outside of the German capital. After his death, this part of Jared's estate had fallen to Jamie and his sister Jenny. 
         So it came about that on the day it was decided at Westminster that the emergency laws passed because of the Corona Pandemic should remain in force, a container ship left the port of Edinburgh for the port of Rostock. The containers it was carrying contained most of the Fraser/Murray family's movable property. The family itself, Jamie, Ian, Jenny and the children, had boarded a Norwegian Airlines plane the night before, which took them to Berlin-Schönefeld Airport within four and a half hours with a stopover at Oslo-Gardermoen.          When they arrived at the airport, Felix Kloppstock, the vice manager of the Berlin headquarters, who had become a trusted employee of Jared Fraser, had picked them up in a minibus owned and used by one of the wine shops. When they arrived in Wilhelmshorst near Potsdam, the house was already prepared for them. The beds were made and the smell of roast venison came from the kitchen, letting them know that dinner was ready. They were then greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Ballin. The 55-year-old housekeeper Helene and her husband Frieder had also been hired by Jared Fraser and entrusted with the management of the house years ago.          When all the Frasers/Murrays fell into their beds late in that night, they did so with one laughing and one crying eye. Laughing because they knew they were safe now. Crying because they missed their home. And James Fraser was thinking about  something else entirely. He was grateful that his parents didn’t had to witness the political developments of the present day. At the same time, he was overcome with a feeling of great sadness when he thought that he would probably not be able to visit their graves in the cemetery near Lallybroch for a very long time.

They had put the children to bed after dinner and were now sitting together in the kitchen for a while. Jenny became as white as a sheet when the radio reported that the London government had announced that it would now explicitly use the emergency laws to take action against the Scottish independence movement, which was growing bigger and louder with every single day.          "If we take the right of self-determination of peoples seriously, as laid down in Article 1(2) of the UN Charter, through the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of December 19, 1966, then Scotland must be given the right to be a State in its own right," the Under Secretary of State had said.    
         Jamie had nodded in agreement and then, more jokingly, asked:
         "Are you secretly a Jacobite, Mr. Neuenburger?"
         "No, Mr. Fraser," the politician had replied with a smile, but with a very serious undertone in his voice, "I don't think you have to belong to any special group to stand up for freedom and self-governemenrt. To be a democrat is, in my opinion, quite enough."
         Neuenburger, who obviously enjoyed talking to Jared Fraser's nephew, took a quick look around.
         "Why don't we take a few steps," he then said, pointing with one hand towards a path that would lead them away from the center of the festival.
         "Gladly," Jamie replied, and together they moved away from the crowd. Jamie well remembered seeing his uncle Jared as he walked away, talking to a man and a woman in the shade of a high hedge, also a little away from everyone else. Jared had smiled, nodded briefly to his nephew and then immediately returned to his conversation partners.  
         When they had moved about two hundred yards away, it was Jamie who resumed the conversation:
         "It's interesting that you say that as a German, we're only used to revolutionary sounds from French people. The French supported us in earlier centuries, but the Germans..."
         "If I may say so, Mr. Fraser," Neuenburger interjected, "the Germans didn't exist then. When the French supported the Scots, thanks to the political intrigues of the French, the Austrians and the Russians, there was only a patchwork of small and tiny German countries. It was Bismarck..."
         "I know, I know. But they were Germans, the King of Hanover..."
         "Oh, yes, of course. And no need you remind me that the Kingdom of Prussia was allied with the Kingdom of Hanover... But you know the saying: 'You can't choose your family, but you can choose your friends'. As you may know, George August II was a cousin of Frederick William I, the father of Frederick the Great. Both George II and Frederick I were brought up by their common grandmother, the Electoress Sophie at the palace of Herrenhausen near Hanover. It has been historically recorded that the men already had an aversion to each other as children. This aversion continued later, when they became men or kings, respectively."
         Neuenburger paused with his remarks when a waitress appeared with a tray of glasses filled with champagne and offered them to the two men. Both men exchanged their empty glasses for full ones and continued their walk.
         "Twice it almost came to war between Hanover and Prussia. Did you know that?" asked Neuenburger.
         Jamie looked at him questioningly and shook his head slightly.   
         "In 1731 there was a dispute between the kingdoms and the royal families because Prussia was recruiting settlers wherever possible. George II issued an edict and assembled an army on the banks of the river Elbe. Friedrich Wilhelm I, on the other hand, had 40,000 soldiers stationed at Magdeburg to defend his territory if necessary. The dukes of Brunswick and Gotha mediated and were able to settle the dispute to a certain extent. A war was prevented.          But it was a cold peace. At the same time as the Scottish resistance was crushed at Culloden, another dispute between Hanover and Prussia was smouldering. After the death of the last prince from the house of Cirksena in 1744, it was disputed who would inherit the county of East Frisia. On the part of the Frisian princes there had been a contract of inheritance with Hanover since 1691, but Frederick I had received a “Letter of Expektanz”, meaning an actual entitlement, from Emperor Leopold on 10 December 1694, which said, that after the extinction of the princely house of East Frisia the county should fall to the kingdom of Prussia. The decisive factor in this conflict, however, was the city of Emden. At that time the town was politically isolated and economically weakened. The reason for this was the “War of Appelle” fought in 1726/27.          This war was actually a civil war and resulted from a conflict between Prince Georg Albrecht of East Frisia and the East Frisian Estates. It was, how could it be otherwise, about the tax sovereignty. But even after their defeat, the city leaders did not give up their goal of making Emden an important economic metropolis again.          Since the 'Emden Revolution' in 1595 the city had the status of a quasi-autonomous urban republic. In this - successful - revolution the city had already freed itself once from the rule of the Cirksena and, as a ‘satellite’ of the Netherlands, achieved de facto the status of a free imperial city. From then on, the representatives of the city signed all contracts and public publications according to the Roman model with ‘S.P.Q.E.’ (Senate and People of Emden). The title ‘Respublica Emdana’ and the abbreviation ‘S. P. Q. E.’ were from then on officially used by the city.          Understandable that the aldermen of the town wanted to return to this freedom and independence, which they had already once enjoyed. When the last Cirksena Prince took over his reign in 1734, the city had already refused to pay homage to him. But at least from 1740 on, the Emden councillors planned to achieve their goal with the help of the Prussian King. Secretly they negotiated the ‘Emden Convention’ with the Prussians. In this treaty, Prussia recognized the rights and privileges of the city of Emden and the East Frisian estates, and in return the East Frisian estates recognized the rule of Prussia after the death of the last prince from the house of Cirksena. It was a win-win situation. Prussia left the East Frisians and their estates the liberties they had enjoyed before and in return received a land with access to the North Sea. On 25 May 1744, two weeks after the Emden Convention had been ratified by both parties, the last prince of East Frisia died. Prussia immediately asserted its right of succession. The widowed Princess of East Frisia, a relative of Friedrich II, recognised the succession of Prussia on May 26th and recommended herself ‘to the protection and generosity of the King’. Frederick II had immediately instructed his representatives to make it known everywhere that the privileges and rights of the East Frisians would remain undiminished and that no enticement of East Frisian citizens was to be feared. With this reassuring message, the Prussian soldiers in Aurich and Leer were even positively received. The seizure of possession was already completed on June 2, just one week after the death of the Prince. Three weeks later, on June 23, 1744, the entire county paid homage to the Prussian Crown.

         What do you think, Fraser? Did they rejoice at it in Hanover, or better, in  London? I don't think so. On June 3, the Hanoverian official Voigt arrived in East Frisia with papers demanding the rights of the Hanoverians. But there the whole thing was already finished. The speed with which the takeover of East Frisia took place, made possible by the careful and secret preparation, once again put the Hanoverian competitor in the shade. One cannot avoid the impression of dilettantism on the part of Hanover. It is true that they had also reacted immediately there by sending Voigt to East Frisia on June 3, with a corresponding power of attorney, but nobody wanted to accept him or his claims officially. On June 10, the Estates very aptly informed him that the contract which had been concluded between the House of Cirksena and the House of Hanover was neither known to them nor did it concern them, since neither they nor the Emperor had approved the document. East Frisia was also supposed to have a potential for conflict for some time to come. In 1748 the disputes over maritime trade became more intense, especially with the Netherlands, but also with England and Sweden. During the Seven Years' War, however, England then needed the support of Prussian soldiers and only in the course of this did it give up all claims in relation to East Frisia."
         The two men had stopped and emptied their glasses. 
         "Why are you telling me all of this?"

         "Well, you said it was unusual to hear 'revolutionary' sounds from a German. Surely, as Frederick Engels once said, ‘revolutions in Prussia are made from above’. We may not be as revolutionary as the French, but please remember that we are a very, very freedom-loving people. The history of the First and Second World Wars is well known. However, the history of the our war of libration, 1813 to 1815, against Napoleon is often overlooked. The support from the people was so great that some historians even speak of the Prussian People's War. Men and women exchanged their golden wedding rings for iron rings to support their country. The phrase ‘gold I gave for iron’ became something like a proverb. A well-known picture, which spread after the wars of liberation, shows a returning soldier. He does not call out to his wife, who welcomes him with open arms, ‘I am back’ but ‘The fatherland is free! Victoria!' And it wasn't just then. Remember that this country has been struggling for 40 years to be reunited and thus to be free. Not aggressively, but with endurance. And when the Germans in the East brought down the SED regime, it was a peaceful revolution that brought the dictatorship to its knees. What do you think, Fraser, the people here would feel for a people that is oppressed by its, shall we say, bigger neighbour?"
         Neuenburger slowly began to walk again. Jamie latched on.
         "Why exactly are you telling me all of this?" he asked.
         "Well, perhaps I wanted to remind you that revolutionary, i.e. cataclysmic, thoughts don't always have to unload themselves in a storm of the Bastille. Sometimes it is wiser to keep them to yourself and ... say, wait for the ratification of an Emden Convention. As far as I know, a freedom-loving people will always welcome and ... support the freedom, or rather the liberation, of another people.”
         Neuenburger smiled. Jamie shook his head slightly and smiled too.
         "Come Fraser," the newfound friend then said, "let's go. The buffet is open." 
         The conversation between the two men was not without consequences. Twice, once in autumn 2018 and once in summer 2019, Ernst Neuenburger had visited the Frasers' home estate in the Scottish Highlands as a holiday guest, before political events made these trips impossible for him. But the two men's confidence in each other had grown during these weeks of walking, horseback riding and hunting together, to the point that by the end of 2020 Jamie was able to make contact with his friend in Berlin unnoticed (through previously agreed 'private' channels). Everything that happened then, that had to happen to bring the Fraser/Murray family into safe exile, happened very quickly. It had to happen very quickly because the window of opportunity to do so was, as in any historical moment, only open for a very short time.

         On the first Saturday evening that the Frasers/Murrays spent in their new home, Ernst Neuenburger came by to deliver the passports, identity cards and naturalisation papers for all family members. Jenny invited him for dinner and afterwards Jamie and the guest went to the library to talk in private.          After the two men had discussed the political situation in Europe for a while over a glass of whisky in front of the fireplace, Ernst Neubauer leaned over to his host..       
         "We have a question for you..."
         It had been clear to James Fraser that sooner or later Neuburger would approach him with a request. He didn't see it as extortion or payment. On the contrary, he was grateful if he could do something in return for the privileges granted. He would have been reluctant to remain a debtor to his friend.
         "You must believe me when I tell you I didn't plan this. I have and will continue to do everything I can to help you and your family with great joy ..."
         "Speak Ernst, straight forward."
         "Well, you have some skills that would be very useful to us. You speak English, perfect French, very good German. You are intelligent and a man who can keep quiet. You also have a thriving wine trade and as a businessman..."
         "... I can travel anywhere without raising suspicion?”
         "Right. But the most important thing is that I trust you."
         The men were silent for a moment. 
         "Would you be willing," Neuenburger then asked, "to act as an negotiator on our behalf and travel when necessary?"
         "Shall I conclude ‘Emden conventions’ for the country?" 
         "Maybe."
         Neuenburger had to smile. What a good memory Fraser owned!
         "And where would that lead me to?"
         "Well, first of all, to the African continent. 116 million Africans in 31 countries speak French. And counting. Your language skills predestine you for tasks in this field. However, we would ask you to learn Spanish and possibly Portuguese as well. Then we could also send you to  South America. Of course, we will provide you with a language teacher paid by us."
         Again the men were silent for a moment.
         "How dangerous could these 'missions' be for me?" Jamie then asked.
         "Not particularly," replied Neuenburger. "You are travelling as a businessman and that causes far less sensation than the travels of a politician or a political official. There are quite a number of, shall we say, colleagues of yours who do that for us. So far, every one of them has returned. We will, of course, prepare you thoroughly for your task."
         Jamie pondered for a moment, then nodded and answered:
         "Travailler pour le roi de Prusse? Jes suis prest! This country has provided me and my family with freedom and a new start here. If we were not here, I would probably be in an English prison by now. It's only fair that I give something back.”
         "Thanks," said Neuenburger and went on “It’s not the King of Prussia, but a democratic republic you serve. Just saying.”          Then he reached into the right inside pocket of his jacket and took out a fresh passport, which he handed to Jamie.
         Jamie reached for it and opened the little red book.
         "Well, well, well, you've thought up a nice alias for me."
         Neuenburger smiled.

         Four weeks later, Etienne Marcel de Provac Alexandre, alias James Fraser, began his first trip as a well-camouflaged diplomatic negotiator.
         This and other journeys were to take him first to numerous states on the African continent. He negotiated political and economic contracts with other negotiators, lobbied for the release and repatriation of citizens in difficulty and delivered oral messages whose content was too secret to be transmitted by paper or electronic means. From 2023 on, when he became fluent in Spanish, he was also send to South America. One of his last trips took him to Buenos Aires, where he signed a trade agreement. Officially, however, he attended the "Conference of Argentine and Chilean Wine Merchants". In order to make his trip as unobtrusive as possible, he did not fly back to Berlin directly, but made a stopover in Boston. There, officially, he would meet a businessman, a friend, who was planning to include the wines which  Etienne Marcel de Provac Alexandre sold, in his range. But in reality, this stopover was to change his life fundamentally. But James Fraser knew nothing of this when his plane landed at Logan International Airport.

Ecological Effects of Free-Roaming Horses in North American Rangelands

Summary:
Free-roaming horses in the American West provide a wildlife management challenge. Wild horses went extinct on the continent over 10,000 years ago. The animals that exist now are descended from introduced livestock from colonizers. Some releases were accidental, and some were purposeful, even with intents to alter the genetics of ‘wild’ populations. Purposeful releases on a smaller scale continue to this day.
Hunters, ranchers, animal rights activists, and other special rights groups all have different demands when it comes to management. The biggest challenge is human emotional connection, since mustangs are a cultural icon of the West. Even though the modern day horse is an exotic invasive in the US, a lot of people don’t want to get rid of them, and even want to see more on the landscape. Another big issue is these horses tend to live in dry states, where water resources are limited and plant communities are very sensitive to grazing and trampling, and take a long time to recover from such disturbances.
The difference between these free roaming horses grazing and domestic livestock is the livestock is heavily managed. (Ranchers need their fields to be healthy in order to maintain their stock). Feral horses are not nearly managed to the same extend, even though they live in a habitat that required careful management of grazing animals. Unmanaged grazing damage is worse around Riparian Zones (river banks). Foliage around these areas is important for filtrations and erosion prevention. Too much heavy grazing can lead to water fouling by both animal waste and erosion (especially bad in places where water sources are limited). Free-roaming horses may pose a threat to the sustainability of a habitat and ecosystem functions.
Feral horses have the potential to impact a large amount of land. Currently they occupy over 30million acres. In 2018, the population was estimated at over 80,000 animals, exceeding a calculated healthy population (based on how many animals a grazing area can provide for) by 50,000. The recommended number of animals was calculated with wildlife, recreation, and domestic grazing uses in mind - as all these activities also impact the land and available resources. It is estimated the population is growing by 20% every year. Horse areas often overlap with critical habitat for endangered nesting birds, susceptible to trampling, disturbance, and loss of tall grass for cover. Because horses often share areas with domestic livestock, it is difficult to study the full extend of their ecological impacts.
Free-Roaming Horse effects on Vegetation.
Areas where horses had been excluded were compared to areas were horses grazed. In general, horse grazing over a long time shortened grass height and reduced grass density. This study was limited because horses were only excluded from areas for 4-5 years, and some of these communities take longer to fully recover. Horse grazing can also shift communities to primarily grazing-tolerant and unpalatable plants. (Horses leave what they don’t want to eat, and that plant takes over the community, but if horses won’t eat it, odds are native animals won’t either, and resource availability goes down.)

Horse use at this location was heavy and should not be interpreted to represent horse use across the entire area occupied by horses, because their forage use is highly heterogeneous.
Horse grazing also decreased density and height of shrubs in Riparian zones. Heavy grazing limited the recruitment of shrubs (how many plants reached breeding maturity) and therefor prevented recovery. 
Along with height and density, heavy grazing also decreased plant diversity and richness. In most cased, the exclusion of free-roaming horses increased plant diversity in an area with one exception. Limited horse use could increase diversity when horses fed off dominant plants that were out-competing lower species for light. In most cases where grazing is heavy and moisture is limited, free-roaming horses decreased plant diversity.
Free-roaming horses also hampered fire-restoration projects. (Many grazing animals are attracted to fire or freshly burned areas because of the nutrients exposed). Grazing by horses reduced post-fire seedlings. It is standard practice on ranches to prevent grazing a seeded area until seedlings have reached maturity. Keeping free-roaming horses off reseeded land long enough would  prove difficult is management actions are not allowed. The added predation of native grasses by free-roaming horses could also aid the spread of invasive species, like cheat grass. More research is needed on the effects of horse grazing and invasive plants.
Free-Roaming Horse Effects on Soil
Bare ground was seven times more often reported at Riparian Zones where horses were allowed to roam versus places they were not. Horses have the potential to increase the amount of bare ground.

Domestic livestock have been excluded from the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge since the mid-1990s, and wild ungulates were not abundant. Unrestricted use by other large herbivores in areas that have a similar disparity in the timing between riparian vegetation and upland vegetation senescence will produce similar results.
Reoccurring trampling can result in soil compaction, which means soil can hold less air and water - decreasing its ability to support plant life in the future. Bare ground is also more susceptible to wind and water erosion. Not only does this lead to less foliage for horses to use, but it decreases available resources to all animals in that habitat, including deer, reptiles, and ground nesting birds. 
Effects on Wildlife
Environmental resources are always used by multiple species. Free-roaming horses changing the height, density, and composition of plant communities indirectly effects other animals in the habitat, in both good and bad ways. (The question comes down to what is the most threatened species in a habitat?). 
In places where water is limited, horses have been known to surround water holes, linger for a long time, and chase elk, pronghorn, and mule deer away when they tried to approach. The effects of horses need to be considered in management plans for areas overlapping with free-roaming horse territories.
Management
Special interest groups  diverting demands, legal limitations, and politicians with incomplete knowledge of horses or management present challenges. The current strategy is largely ‘minimal management’, restricting the application of scientifically validated options. (The BLM is required to maintain a state of ‘natural’ wilderness, but the word ‘natural’ is vague and implies little human impacts that ignore the fact that humans have lived and impacted the environments of the North American Continent since 10,000 years ago).
Overpopulation of free-roaming herds is a well recognized problem, but limited by largely sociopolitical reasons. We need purposeful management to reduce feral horse populations. Management strategies for domestic animals are generally not allowed or not feasible with horses.
Horses should be excluded from sensitive areas prone to overuse, like Riparian zones, or other water zones to prevent wildlife exclusion (troughs or man-made water bodies can be dug in horse zones to supply them water). Any exclusion needs to be done carefully as to not encourage overuse in other areas. 
The original laws of the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burrows Act needs to be rewritten to accommodate current ecological concerns, new scientific knowledge, and the affects of invasive species and climate changed (which was not considered in the 70s). Some regulations may need to be lowered in places horses are causing substantial environmental damage.

Yikes! This guy is one of the main producers on Armageddon Time. I heard that the film had been delayed anyway, and this should contribute to that even more so. I think CAA and Focus Features are going to have to drop this guy and recruit another financier for the film. Oscar is not a producer on this project - and I have a feeling that if it gets delayed into 2022, he may just drop out of it altogether since he has so many other projects on his plate...

The charismatic Brazilian, 47, is facing lawsuits both in the U.S. and abroad for what two investors allege is a Hollywood Ponzi scheme.
A charismatic film producer from Brazil who found success in Hollywood on projects like 2019's The Lighthouse and the 2017 Oscar winner Call Me by Your Name now finds himself accused by former business partners of fraud, lack of transparency and, according to one complaint, running a Ponzi scheme.
The producer is Rodrigo Teixeira, and his relentless drive has made him one of the darlings of Brazil's film industry. But according to a pair of lawsuits filed in Los Angeles and Sao Paulo, Teixeira, 47, has courted wealthy Brazilians to invest in his company, RT Features — and they have, to the tune of $16 million — but the majority of the funds have allegedly disappeared, with no adequate records kept to show where they went.
In Brazilian court, Teixeira has countered that the lawsuit is "unfounded" and lacking in "material evidence" but that he will "comply with the judge's determination ... without even filing an appeal."
Teixeira did not respond to a request to comment for this story, directing The Hollywood Reporter instead to a publicist, who said a "cross-complaint is being filed" in the near future. Teixeira has hired Jill Basinger of Glaser Weil to represent him in the U.S.
The two plaintiffs are Luiz Mussnich, a prominent Sao Paulo financier and art patron, and his brother-in-law, Carlos Gros, son of Brazil's former Central Bank president Francisco Gros.
Mussnich first met Teixeira in 2009. At the time, Teixeira was married to Maria Raduan, whose grandfather was one of Brazil's wealthiest cattle magnates, and the couple were moving in the elite circles of Sao Paulo society. (They divorced last year.) Teixeira had recently shifted gears from a career in finance to producing. His strategy was to gobble up as much IP as he could, optioning the film and TV rights to dozens of book titles.
"I was flabbergasted because he spoke so passionately about films," Mussnich tells THR. "I thought it would be a good idea to introduce my clients to invest a small stake in the film industry."
Mussnich introduced Teixeira to his clients, and he'd regale them about various projects in the pipeline. They'd cut him checks — anywhere from $10,000 to $200,000 at a time — and he'd welcome them into his starry sphere.
There were 10 key investors in all. Mussnich put $350,000 of his own money into RT Features, but his brother-in-law was in much deeper, writing Teixeira $2.8 million in checks.
Months and then years passed, and no word on their investment came. "I started to feel uncomfortable," recalls Mussnich. "There was no news, no accounting, no film production agreements. So I started putting pressure on him."
But as recently as 2018, they remained on good terms — so much so that Mussnich and Gros accompanied Teixeira to the Academy Awards that year, where Call Me by Your Name won the Oscar for best adapted screenplay. (Teixeira is one of 20 credited producers on the film.)
That film's success led its seven Brazilian investors, who'd waited for six years as Teixeira urged them to have patience, to finally expect a return on their investment. None came — and that's when the lawsuits began.
In Gros' complaint, filed in Sao Paulo, one of the allegations involves a $200,000 investment in the 2017 film 24 Frames by the Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami. It was later revealed that the $200,000 was never received by that film's French producer, Charles Gillibert of CG Cinema, nor had Teixeira been involved in any way in the making of the film.
Gros has since been repaid for that loan — but dozens more remain unaccounted for. "The squeakiest wheels tend to get the grease," Mussnich says of Teixeira's repayment efforts. In an out-of-court settlement with another investor, the son of Brazilian banking executive Carlos Mansur, Teixeira's check bounced, leading his powerful father to file a criminal complaint against Teixeira.
In the U.S., the case remains a civil one. Also named in that lawsuit is Joseph Geus of JG Management, a Santa Monica-based business manager who accepted the checks on Teixeira's behalf and who is accused in the complaint of manufacturing false expenses and other forms of creative bookkeeping. (Geus did not return a call from THR.)
"The money stays out there in the ether until you ask about it," says Mussnich. "The guy can't seem to give original source documents." What documents Teixeira has provided, he adds, are "totally incomplete. It's a huge mess."

Kinderhook Bank extends loaning group in Albany territory, plans for new office
