Smart people instinctively understand the dangers of entrusting our future to self-serving leaders who use our institutions, whether in the corporate or social sectors, to advance their own interests. James C Colins
I discussed yesterday the catastrophic consequences of David Cameron’s policy of austerity, one academic study claiming 333,000 excess deaths can be attributed to the cuts to public services and benefits inflicted by Cameron as part of his austerity package.
Needless to say, it was the poor that suffered while the rich became richer still. The hardships of austerity were for ordinary working people to endure, not the rich friends of the Tory Party.
“We often hear David Cameron say: "We're all in this together." The truth is that Mr Cameron and his cabinet of millionaires sit there in a pool of cash whilst there are over three million children in Britain living in poverty. Under the Tories, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Whether it's dinners for donors in Downing Street or giving millionaires a tax-cut, it's the same old Tories who leave all the ordinary hard-working people of this country to suffer.” (HUFFPOST: 25/01/14)
After a further five years of austerity nothing had changed:
“Rich getting richer while poor get poorer, official figures show – with ‘Brexit and benefits freeze to blame'." (Independent: 26/02/19)
Not only was Cameron (together with George Osborne) responsible for the devastating cuts to public service funding and benefit payments, but he also led us into the quagmire that was Brexit.
Whatever your views on Brexit, it has been an economic disaster for this country and the blame for this can be squarely laid at the door of David Cameron.
"Many will never forgive him for the almost offhand way he steered Britain into an unnecessary Brexit cul-de-sac, and the ramifications of his mistake continue to cast a pall over the country." (Evening Standard: 14/11/23)
The Evening Standard, is usually a Tory supporting newspaper but even they recognise that Cameron was being totally self-serving in calling for a referendum on our membership of the EU, a decision that had more to do with saving the Tory Party (and his premiership) from the consequences of a right-wing split and the rise of UKIP to Tory MP seats.
“Cameron chose to commit to a vote, not because the country’s population was clamouring for one but because a significant minority of his own MPs, many of them frustrated by the constraints of coalition, were demanding that he do so – some because they feared that UKIP would cost them their seat (or the seats of too many of their colleagues) at the next election, some because they wanted out of the European Union and were more than happy to leverage that fear to their advantage.” (ukandeu.ac.uk: Why David Cameron called the 2016 referendum – and why he lost’ : 04/10/22)
As if this were not enough, Cameron was not averse to using his political connections to potentially line his own pockets after he had resigned as PM. In 2022, MP’s condemned Cameron for lobbying on behalf of his banking employer, Greensill.
“The Treasury select committee said in July 2021 that it was inappropriate of the ex-prime minister to send 62 messages to former colleagues pleading for them to help the controversial bank, for which he worked and in which he owned stock options that could have been worth tens of millions of pounds.” (Guardian: 13/11/23)
Cameron also risked the security of this country by cosying up to China. Declaring that he was determined to make Britain Beijing’s partner of choice, he signed £40bn worth of deals with China claiming:
“What this really means is jobs, it means livelihoods, it means security.”
Whatever else it meant it did not mean security.
“China represents the "largest state-based threat" to Britain's economic security, Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden has told the BBC. It comes as figures show the government intervened in eight attempted takeovers of UK firms by Chinese buyers last year over national security fears.” (BBC News: 11/07/23)
It did however mean a job for David Cameron:
“Former British PM Cameron gets new job as vice-chairman of China-UK fund.” (The Straits Times: 19/12/17)
Cameron, like many Tories, is a man who, despite his patriotic rhetoric, is prepared to put the Conservative Party and his own career above the best interests of the country as a whole. He is a man of poor economic judgement, a man who acts for the benefit of his rich friends and is quite prepared to endanger our security of our nation for the short term benefit of making a few extra pounds. He is not fit to be Foreign Secretary and Rishi Sunak should never have appointed him.

Meghan doesnt get stealth wealth by u/Mickleborough
Meghan doesn’t get stealth wealth The series Succession purportedly lifted the lid on how the 0.000042% (2021 figures) of the world really live. It introduced the concept of ‘stealth wealth’ dressing - quiet, well-bred clothes conspicuous only by their classic lines, muted colours, and luxurious fabrics. Not stealth wealth. In late 2021, on their faux royal tour of New York, Meghan was accused of stealth wealth dressing: Telegraph archived / unarchived.Just the right thing for 71 F / 22 C, if you’re a reptile. [Actually, that explains a lot.]However, she’s let the peasant in her emerge: big bags. In Succession, a minor character appears at patriarch Logan Roy’s birthday party carrying a ‘monstrous’ that’s ‘ludicrously capacious’ (a Burberry tote). This indicates that she isn’t part of their world: ‘What’s even in there?’ asks Tom Wambsgans. ‘Flat shoes for the subway? Her lunch pail? It’s gargantuan. You could take it camping. You could slide it across the floor after a bank job.’ Because the rich don’t have to carry stuff: Guardian archived / unarchivedI like big bags……I cannot lie……Baby got bag.Seriously, what is it with Meghan and those gigantic bags? It’s not like she’s got her work laptop, office folders, or treats for the children (unless they really are invisible). post link: https://ift.tt/u5VbFwk author: Mickleborough submitted: August 20, 2023 at 08:53PM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit

In 2015, my dear friend Skyler Johnson introduced me to his "15 for 2015" playlist, which featured 15 songs released in 2015 that he liked. Skyler has always been my most disciplined friend when it came to tracking the things he liked. (Later, he would get a job at Spotify, where I believe he is still employed. I now blame every change to Spotify Wrapped on him, jokingly.) I took the concept and made my own "15 for 2015" playlist, and have been doing them ever since.
Last year's 21 FOR 2021 was subtitled "IT'S BEEN A LONG YEAR / HOW DID WE GET HERE?" which was a line from Audrey Nuna's mournful pandemic theme, "Long Year." 21 FOR 2021 also had Fred again…'s "Marea (we've lost dancing)", another thoughtful send-up of all the things the pandemic had changed for us during 2020/2021. 22 FOR 2022 is less obsessed with the pandemic and loss, even if it is subtitled "SONGS FOR WEIRD GOODBYES." In a way, is a song for a weird goodbye not also a song for a weird beginning? There are many artists here that I discovered for the first time this year: haer (my sad girl queen), Dry Cleaning (another in the line of wry female voices talk-singing drily over slow rock noodling), Gigi Cheung (cold city chick Cantopop, incidentally I love the late late night vibes of the music video for "Panda"), grandma (the only artist in this playlist who would and in fact did write the line, "when I was mourning my innocence you said 'LMAO'"). While this year may be the last I feature a song with MATTON's vocals (he was the lead vocalist for both Paellas, who showed up in 19 FOR 2019 and then disbanded shortly thereafter, and Pearl Center, who unfortunately also disbanded this year), it's also been rewarding to see artists I've loved for years (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The National, Beach House) still making new music that I'm into. In some cases, like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, they not only sound as good as I remember but more like themselves, like a whisky that's been aged to perfection.
An unexpected member of this group is Shamir. In 2014, right after I graduated law school and started working, Shamir came out with "On the Regular" which got regular play at a club that Skyler and I would frequent. While it owed a lot obviously to Azealia Banks' "212"(RIP), listening to it in 2022 feels like you're hearing the bones of what would eventually become hyperpop. "Stability" doesn't have that sort of futuristic vision, but it has a dark molasses richness to its vocals, Shamir's voice stretching out the vowels until they sound unfamiliar as he sings, "I know that life came fast at you / and you weren't ready yet."
Like many of my year end playlists, 22 FOR 2022 is more a memory box than a "best of the year" list. So while I genuinely love Djo's "End of Beginning," I have to admit I added it because 2022 was the year I left Chicago (again) and I couldn't resist a song whose chorus actually talks about bidding farewell to Chicago, in body if not in spirit. Same with Joji's "YUKON (INTERLUDE)." A low-key, sparse song that suddenly introduces Joji's own panting breath as a ghost over a kick drum, it's meditative and anxious the way my favorite Joji tracks are, a perfect slice of being stuck in someone else's head without any plea for you to understand him or help him. But I'd be lying if I told you I picked it for any reason other than the line, "Circles at the Chevron / I can't be forever young." In past years, I've added songs just for their adjacency to esports. This year I had the opportunity to hear Interpol play live in the most unexpected circumstance. They played "Mr. Credit" (my favorite track off their new album), but the high point was getting, finally, to hear "Slow Hands" live.
You could write a long, long time about 22 songs, so I won't talk about every one. I'll mention, however, the two and a half places where I cheated, because Tim Rogers once said that when you are writing something you should give yourself three wishes, or three times you can deviate from the script. Well, I'm NOT Tim Rogers (she says, in a Tim Rogers-esque voice), but I WILL give myself the occasional cheat. "Long Road Home" was originally written and released in 2020 by Oneohtrix Point Never. While Caroline Polachek's vocals are technically on that track, this version with just her voice is somehow a completely different song. The original feels insistent, the libido of a computer given a Greek chorus voice, while Polachek's solo version is balletic, like a cold wind turned into a single piercing high note. "Just to be Needed" was released last year, but on December 16, long after I had already made my 21 FOR 2021 list. I did love "Neon Memories" and "Light Left the Garden" from this year, but there is a catharsis in "Just to be Needed" that felt right for this year, especially on the tail end of "This is a Life," the big cinematic theme song to "Everything Everywhere All at Once." And Dremedreman's "Ngadan" was released in March 2021, but I didn't discover it or this collection of Taiwanese indigenous artists until this year. I loved both the song and music video for "Ngadan" so much that I pushed it on everyone in every platform I could, which means, of course, this one as well.

Hello, Adrianna. I was a essential worker during 2020-2021. But I have left out of grocery store business because of emergency situations during the same time I have been suffering 2 car accidents injuries.
One has been miss diagnosed and turn up much later in life and I end up developing degenerated disc and the other one was when I was pushing carts and a driver had hit me while I was pushing carts during in a process trying to recover from an old injury.
I'm was living in Florida 22 years of my life.
So back then, I have all the connections and networking. But now I have no resources sadly the government of Texas only can help the rebillation problem made only for drugs and alcohol abuse that's there main focus since it's a baby state.
So the only special needs programs are made for server cases of austim. Not Asperger syndrome since I'm concerned to be Asperger syndrome I don't qualify any special needs support regarding of funds in the state of Texas.
I'm not asking much but as a request as a donation to a fellow citizen of the United States of America. who just so happened to have Asperger syndrome. I need some financial support for medical attentions for an example Chiropractic visits I go to the Joint every so often . And to travel since I use Uber to go to the places that need to go.
The small package for a start would cost $209 for the adjustment for my spine.
Sadly the churches can't help me because they are also don't have the enough funds to us. Because covid-19 situation restrictions I can't go to a normal job anymore. And they don't have anti-vaccinated jobs/ anti-covid-19 testing jobs available because the state of Texas is getting so expensive regarding of the taxes. And a hyperinflation. You can donate me any way you can you can send me an Uber gift card by sending me your physical address by emailing me. Or you can text me and I will send you my router number and that way you can deposit whatever amount you prefer to donate. I do not have a GoFundMe page because Facebook had deleted my GoFundMe page because Facebook is a anti freedom of speech Network system and anti-American .
My e.mail is [email protected] or text at 813-614-5277 Ps: Please leave your name address or email address thank you.
Donation instructions:
I will send you a paper form for sign the donation . Along with the envelope so you can send the donation by mail. If you want to send in cash or gift card. Or through the bank account it's up to you. Check will be fine. If it's easy for you. In fact I prefer check then sending my router number. Thank you and you have a blessed day.

Bat diversity and abundance are highest in old deciduous forest stands on the river banks in Eastern Ukraine

Bat diversity and abundance are highest in old deciduous forest stands on the river banks in Eastern Ukraine
European forest-dwelling bats require complex woodland structures at both the micro-habitat and the landscape level for successful breeding in summer. Particularly, the results from Kharkiv region (Eastern Ukraine) demonstrate that large stands of mature forests older than 90 years improved the breeding activity of bats, their abundance and overall species richness. Abundance and species richness increased from upland plots surrounded by agricultural lands to riverine or waterside plots with high forest cover. These are the results of a newly published paper in the scientific journal “Forests” by an international team of authors from the Ukrainian Bat Rehabilitation Center (UBRC) and the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (Leibniz-IZW).
Mature deciduous forests are the most targeted forest type for logging because of the high potential revenues from selling timber on international markets. Biodiversity associated with these forest stands is therefore threatened worldwide. One group of species that is a key conservation target are bats. In their investigation the scientific team around first author Dr Anton Vlaschenko from UBRC and Dr Viktoriia Radchuk from Leibniz-IZW asked how bat diversity is affected by land cover types and the age of forest stands in the Kharkiv region in northeastern Ukraine, in an area on the border between forest-steppe and the steppe zone. The fragmented broadleaved forests typical for this region are common for temperate regions, but the relationships between bat diversity, land cover and forest structure remain largely understudied. Yet, understanding such relationships is of key importance for designing efficient conservation measures.
The results showed that logging intensity in the study region differed between districts and was not related to the amount of mature forests. This allowed the scientists to study how bat assemblages were influenced by the share of clear-cuts and mature forests in the landscape. “The most conspicuous result was a clear increase of bat diversity close to riverine habitats, further enhanced by the presence of mature forests with a mean age more than 90 years,” says co-author Dr Yehor Yatsiuk from the University of Tartu (Estonia). “Although old forests represent 22% of all forests in the Kharkiv region, the combination of mature oak forests and riverine habitats covers much smaller areas, considerably limiting areas suitable for bats.”
First author Anton Vlaschenko, Co-Head of UBRC, says: “The field data used in this study were collected over a long period, in more than ten years of summer field expeditions. It was a continuous effort and hard job. We camped in tents and spent hundreds of sleepless nights near mist-nets. Later on, we also had some challenges when analysing these data. We were close to wrapping up the manuscript at the end of 2021. The collaboration with Leibniz-IZW scientists and, after February 24, 2022, the three-months scholarship for me and our team members offered by Leibniz-IZW meant that we could finish this paper.”
“The first time I participated to the field research studying bats in 2009, as an undergraduate student. The data collected back then contributed to the current paper. Since then, bats have become my big passion and focus group for my current research. By investigating the ecological requirements of such enigmatic animals, we better understand ecological leverages of the natural world,” adds co-author Dr Kseniia Kravchenko from UBRC and Leibniz-IZW. Dr Yehor Yatsiuk continues: “My research is focused on associations between historical distribution of forests and management of animal species in eastern Ukraine. Over recent decades we observed an increase in clear-cutting intensity in this region. Our aim is to ensure protection of forest biodiversity here. Ten years ago, we initiated a series of projects aimed to survey the oldest and the largest forests here with the main focus on several groups of vulnerable species from land snails to birds of prey and bats.”
“Our study shows that old forests and riverine habitats are beneficial for breeding activity of bats, for abundance of single bat species and for the overall community composition. The fact that we see the same response to landscape structure across levels of ecological organisation underlines the importance of preserving mature oak stands and riverine habitats for conservation of bat diversity in the region. I enjoyed working with Kharkiv bat researchers a lot, their enthusiasm and group spirit inspired me,” adds senior author Dr Viktoriia Radchuk, scientist at the Leibniz-IZW Department of Ecological Dynamics.

$378 bucks in the hole to be specific and it's only gonna keep getting worse until my new job picks up! If uh, anyone's got a bit to spare, my paypal is paypal.me/Ashway and ca$happ is $Olivirge
You can also just tip me, I think, there's that. If anyone would like to pay like a buck or two for a bad ms paint drawing of whatever you want I will also do that. I don't have any skills to sell really. Um. I'll give probably bad or mediocre advice as well for a buck or two. I could go for comically bad as well. Please help. I need to be able to get gas and food and I'm scared if this keeps going my bank will forcibly close my account or something.
If you can't, please reblog. Do NOT feel guilty at all, even for a tiny second, if you can't, or I will steal your toes. Thanks!

Top Bankster was asked if he would step down if asked by Donald Trump
Nov 08, 2024
Jerome Powell, the head bankster at the Federal Reserve most famous for calling inflation “transitory” for months before admitting any need for tighter monetary policy, told reporters Thursday that he will not step down if asked by President-elect Donald Trump.
“No,” he told reporters, before stating that his job is protected “under the law.”
The New York Times noted that Powell was Trump’s pick for the job in 2018 but the relationship was never smooth. The paper noted that Trump “has continued to criticize the Fed, leading to speculation that he could try again to fire Mr. Powell — or pressure him to resign.”
But the paper also noted that the Fed operates independently from the White House “which means that it sets interest rates without needing approval from the president or administration.”
(The Trends Journal has long noted that the Fed likes to keep the party in charge, in charge, which is why the magazine forecasted that the central bank would cut rates just in time for the presidential election, in hopes of artificially inflating the stocks and making voters more prone to vote for Kamala Harris.)
Powell announced another 25-basis-point rate cut to bring interest rates to a range of 4.5 to 4.75 percent.
Since 2021, food prices have shot up 22 percent and passenger vehicle insurance 47 percent, CNBC analyst Jeff Cox wrote in a 19 October essay. The median U.S. home price has soared 30 percent since 2019.
In short, prices and interest rates are still uncomfortably high for too many people.
Before the Ukraine War began, inflation rates hit a 40-year high.
The word on The Street at the time was that the Fed was going to raise interest rates 0.50 percent after a year of denying inflation was rising… claiming inflation was just “temporary” and then “transitory.”
In March 2022, Powell said the central bank would raise its key interest rate by only 0.25 percent. (The rate had been near zero since the start of the COVID War.)
The Fed’s insistence that soaring inflation was “transitory” was “one of the worst calls in decades,” Mohamed El-Erian, president of Queens College, Cambridge, and a senior advisor to Allianz, said in comments quoted by the Financial Times.
If the Fed had grasped the consequences of keeping interest rates low amid a cash-rich economy with too few goods available, it would have been able to recognize inflation’s dangers early on, he added.
TREND FORECAST: Totally omitted from the mainstream business media is the soaring price of gold. As Trends Journal subscribers well know, but blacklisted by the media, is our 2 January 2024 trend forecast that this year would be a Golden Year for gold. Since that forecast, as we go to press, gold prices have spiked some $700 per ounce. Among the reasons gold prices are rising is that there is a general consensus that inflation is here to stay and that the prices have sharply spiked as a result of nations pumping in countless trillions of dollars—backed by nothing and printed on nothing—to fight the COVID War have created an inflation cycle that will keep on rising.

Lee So-hee (Korean: 이소희; born November 18, 1994), better known by the stage name Han So-hee (한소희), is a South Korean actress. She began her career as a supporting character in the television series Money Flower (2017), 100 Days My Prince (2018), and Abyss (2019) before transitioning into lead roles in The World of the Married (2020), Nevertheless (2021), My Name (2021) and Gyeongseong Creature (2023–2024).
Han was born as Lee So-hee (이소희) on November 18, 1994, in Ulsan, South Korea. She attended Ulsan High School of Arts where she majored in arts. In her senior year of high school, Han moved to Seoul to live with her grandmother, where she worked various part-time jobs to make ends meet. Han originally had no plans of entering the entertainment industry and wanted to continue pursuing higher education, stating that, "I got into a university in France, but I couldn't go because I didn't have enough money in my bank account. I had to have at least ₩60 million (approximately US$46,000) in my bank account to get a visa. I didn't have that, of course." While working part-time at pubs, modeling, and doing commercials to save up money, the head of the agency to which she belonged persuaded Han to try acting.
𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟕-𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟗: 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬
Han appeared in SHINee's "Tell Me What To Do" music video in 2016. She made her acting debut in a minor role in Reunited Worlds (2017). She got her first main roles in MBC TV's Money Flower in 2017 and tvN's 100 Days My Prince in 2018. Later in 2018, she starred in KBS2's After The Rain and made an appearance in Roy Kim's "The Hardest Part". In 2019, Han played a supporting role in the tvN series Abyss, alongside lead actors Ahn Hyo-seop and Park Bo-young.
𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎: 𝐖𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝
In 2020, Han starred in JTBC's The World of the Married alongside Kim Hee-ae and Park Hae-joon, in which she played a main role as Yeo Da-kyung, a young mistress. The television series ended its run as the highest-rated television series in Korean cable television history. Han received widespread recognition thanks to the success of the television series, and for her performance she was nominated for Best New Actress – Television at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards.
𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏–𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭: 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬
In 2021, Han starred in JTBC romance drama Nevertheless alongside Song Kang. Later the same year, she starred in the Netflix original crime-action drama My Name as Yoon Ji-woo, a woman seeking revenge for her father's murder. For her performance in My Name, she was nominated for Best Actress – Television at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards.
In March 2022, Han appeared in the four-episode Disney+ mini-series Soundtrack#1 alongside Park Hyung-sik. In September, she appeared as Princess Kayena in a live-action teaser for the Kakao Webtoon series The Villainess is a Marionette. The following year, she featured in BTS' Jungkook music video for his single "Seven", which was released on July 14, 2023.
In 2023, Han appeared in the 1945 historical drama Gyeongseong Creature with costar Park Seo-joon. The first season was released on Netflix from December 22, 2023 to January 5, 2024, and the second season was released on September 27, 2024. Han also made her film debut in March of 2024 with the LGBTQ indie film Heavy Snow, which premiered at the 38th BFI Flare. She is set to appear in upcoming tvN drama Two-Faced Lover alongside Byeon Woo-seok.
𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲
In 2019, Han faced legal trouble after her estranged mother, known publicly as Ms. Shin, took out and failed to repay a ₩40 million loan with Han listed as the guarantor. A similar instance occured in 2022 when ₩85 million was borrowed using a bank account in the actress' name that "was opened arbitrarily [by Shin] when Han was a minor." Her mother was later arrested in September of 2024 for the operation of 12 illegal gambling establishments, in which "proxy owners" were used to allow patrons access to a a gambling website to play games like baccarat after purchasing game credits.
Han's agency, 9ato Entertainment, released a statement acknowledging that Ms. Shin had been involved in several fraud cases, including forgery, but clarified that their talent was not connected in any way.
𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬
In March of 2024, Han was spotted at the same hotel as fellow actor Ryu Jun-yeol while on a vacation in Hawaii, igniting relationship rumors. She confirmed the relationship herself on a personal blog later that month, and hours later, Ryu’s agency released an official statement corroborating these rumors.
The couple was confirmed to be dating since the beginning of 2024; however, they split later that month. Ryu’s representatives as well as Han's agency released a statement confirming the breakup. “They both realized that their roles as actors are more important. They promised not to waste any more emotions on personal matters,” it read.
𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
Han has been active as a model since 2016. Her advertisements include brands such as Ritz Crackers, CJ Group, J.Estina, Banila Co., Eider, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty, L'Oréal, and Giordano International. In 2023, she was announced as the global brand ambassador for Singaporean fashion house label Charles & Keith, French luxury jewelry house Boucheron, and Korean-owned sportswear brand Fila. Also in 2023, Lotte Chilsung selected Han as the new face of Chum Churum soju.
In 2024, Han became a global brand ambassador for home appliance brand Shark.
