Sony in negotiations to purchase Kadokawa

Anime and Manga fans know that Kadokawa is a hell of a lot more than just the publisher of Elden Ring. Although this WOULD give Sony 69.6% ownership of FromSoftware.

Banished from the Hero’s Party I...

Anime names have to be so long.  Anyways, a good, if disjointed story.

There are three main parts to the story:

Main character, whom was banished from the Hero’s party, wants to set up an apothecary.  His big-titty, blonde, patient childhood friend princess vagabond wants to join him.

The main character’s backstory with the Hero’s party.

The Hero’s party, now that they don’t have the protagonist.

The real problems is with number 2, as it’s told in flashbacks.  They will often run a flashback, have the main characters said two lines to each other, and then segue into another flashback, and then another one.  This part is essential to understanding the history the main character has with his waifu, along with aspects of his character that he always keeps hidden.  This is an element normally absent from childhood best friend love interests.  The story could simply have had her step into his shop, and then do a full episode flashback, rather than a disjointed one.

And this is the story’s true weakness.  It has a lot of really good element, but trying them together is the problem.

To understand the world, we need to understand Blessings.  Which ties D&D, Final Fantasy, and My Little Pony together.  Seriously.

Every living being has a Blessing.  This might be for standard RPG classes, like Fighter, Mage, or Brawler.  It might be for abstracted military classes, like General.  It might be Craftsman.

The Protagonist’s is Guide.  While militarily competent beyond the point of most knights, his combat abilities did not progress at the same level as the rest of the party, hence his banishment.  This abilities instead focus on more “common” things, like survival, navigation, herbalism, etc.

And this is because in most fantasy stories and games, things just happen to the party.  You don’t want your party to spend a couple years of game sessions wandering around in a forest, so they naturally stumble across it.

Banished from the Hero’s Party does NOT abstract this.  You need to find your target to fight it, logistics are important, (if only spoken of momentarily),

Without the main character, the Hero’s party finds itself lost, literally.  They have to make several journeys, because they search around, run out of food, and have to return to a friendly location to resupply.  No one in the Hero’s party is especially good at diplomacy, (not even the Crusader, apparently), which means they’ve been unable to come to any accords with the locals.

What the story does the best, however, is small, interpersonal interactions, which make the story utterly charming.
