Roadtrip Südosteuropa Tag 10

Nebel, Nebel. Oder Wolken. Auf jeden Fall gestaltet sich der Morgen spannend. Um 7 fahre ich los Richtung Süden, bzw erst mal gen Westen, da ich ja keine Autobahnen fahre, und deshalb erst einmal die tief ins Land einschneidende Bucht umfahren muss. Fast. Denn es gibt eine Fähre, die kostenlos Passagiere übersetzt. Chris de Burghs „Dont pay the ferryman“ ergäbe also hier keinen Sinn.

Drüben abgekommen gings rauf und runter durch die südlich von Varna gelegenen Wälder, um dann nördlich von Burgas in der Strandhölle von Nessebar wieder herauszukommen, und ein gerüttelt Maß Wegstrecke an hässlichen postsozialistischen Wohn- und Hotelblocks vorbeizufahren , bis es nach Burgas wieder in die Berge des Strandschagebirges geht, einem hügeligen Teil Thrakiens zwischen Bulgarien und der Türkei. Spannende Berge, selbst Schlangen gibt es, davon habe ich mich bei einem kleinen Spaziergang überzeugen können.

Wenig später verlasse ich Bulgarien, welches nach der Passage der Grenze nun Bulgaristan heißt. An der Grenze freundliche Beamte, es gibt Passkontrolle, Zollkontrolle und erstmalig während der gesamten Fahrt eine Kontrolle des Impfststatus. Auch in der Türkei gilt die GGG-Regel. Ansonsten gilt auch hier freie Fahrt.

Was ist anders? Nun, erstens natürlich, dass nichts mehr in kyrillischer Schrift angeschrieben steht, dafür nimmt die Ünzühl dür Ü güfühlt massüv zü. Außerdem ist das Rezept für Strassenbelag offenbar noch aus der letzten Kaltzeit. Der Teer ist oft geschmolzen, Abhilfe schafft man nicht wie in Rumänien und Bulgarien durch besprühen mit Wasser, stattdessen fahren LKWs mit Kies durch die Gegend, der hinten einfach rausgeschmissen wird. Wie Streuen im Winter… sehr speziell. Außerdem wirkt alles etwas hügeliger und man stoppt in Dur. Die Zeit des Moll scheint vorbei. 😂

Außerdem sind entlang der Grenze ziemlich viele Kasernen, eine große Militärpräsenz und viele Schilder, die Panzer zeigen. Wenn man sich die kriegerische Geschichte der Region vor Augen hält, und die Tatsache, dass Islam und Christentum über Jahrhunderte dort mit den Säbeln rasselten, wirkt das nicht besonders vertrauenserweckend. Der Gekreuzigte verschwindet natürlich ganz aus der Landschaft, wird ob der Tatsache, dass Abbilder des Propheten im Islam nicht zulässig sind, auch nicht ersetzt. Dafür gibt es nun viele Moscheen mit den typischen schlanken Minaretten.

Eine Weile bleiben die Straßen klein, aber langsam deutet sich die Nähe zur Stadt an, die mein Wendepunkt werden soll. Istanbul , früher Konstantinopel, soll mein Aufenthaltsort der nächsten 4 Tage sein. Ich habe mir eins der sehr günstigen Hotelzimmer gebucht, nahe der Hagia Sophia, einst Byzantinische Kirche, dann Moschee, dann Museum, nun wieder Mosche. (Was würde wohl Kemal Attatürk dazu sagen?

Die Einfahrt in die Stadt bis ins tiefste Innere gestaltet sich ganz nach meinem Geschmack. Ein wenig Bangkokfeeling kommt auf. Natürlich gibt es Verkehrsregeln, sie sind nur anders verteilt….:)

Allen Puristen sei gesagt, ich liebe Fortschritt. Sei es in der Vakzinforschung, sei es in der Erforschung neuer Wege der Energiegewinnung, vor allem aber liebe ich Navigationssysteme, ebenso die Tatsache, dass ich mir nicht mehr in irgendeinen Shop von einem zwielichtigen Verkäufer irgendeine SIM-Card aufschwatzen lassen muss , sondern mir einfach gestern eine eSim gekauft habe, und schon hab ich automatisch schnelles Internet in Türküstan. eSim, hmmm, wie erklär ich’s meiner Mutter…;) Und auch den passenden eScooterverleih kann man schon mal vorher abchecken.

Angekommen in der 15-Millionen-Metropole mache ich sofort einen Spaziergang zum Bosporus, der im Buch „Keraban der Starrkopf“ eine große Rolle spielt. Als das Buch erschien, hatte Istanbul übrigens gerade mal 890000 Einwohner.

Das Buch war neben Marco Polo und Karl Mays Erzählungen einer der inspirierendsten Romane für meine Reiselust. Keraban stand vorm Bosporus , ich vor der Mauer der Kommunisten in Berlin…. Zum Abschluss des Tages und weil ich nun alle Anrainerstaaten des Schwarzen Meeres einmal besucht habe im Laufe der Jahre gibt es ein Stück Jules Verne zum Lesen.

Nun wohl, ich werde nach Scutari kommen, ohne über den Bosporus zu gehen,und werde nicht bezahlen…

– Und ich werde die Türkei hinausgehen, werde den Chersones durchziehen,über Kaukasien reisen und durch Anatolien fahren, und damit nach Scutari gelangen, ohne einen Para Eurer ungerechten Steuer entrichtet zu haben!

– Wir werden ja sehen, versetzte der Beamte.

– Ist schon so gut wie gesehen! erwiderte Keraban, der jetzt wüthend wurde, und noch heute Abend werde ich abreisen.
