Bandipur National Park - Day 2

Everyone got up in their own time. Some headed straight for the dining area to have their morning coffee/tea and take in the morning beauty while others decided to freshen up first.

The air was clean and more importantly cold, not like the air in Bangalore. Getting a full nights sleep after being up for over 36 hours brought back the lost energy.

After a quick breakfast and a couple group photographs with our bikes, we were on our way back to Bangalore. But before we left Bandipur, one last place was left to be explored.

We visited Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta, the highest peak in Bandipur National park. Located at a hight of 1450m, you get a birds eye view of the forest from its peak. As with most places in India, this too has a temple at the top dedicated to Lord Krishna, or better known as Venugopalaswamy in these areas.

We didn't spend much time at the temple as the sun was shining right over our heads and the temperature climbing every minute. The entry charge of Rs. 25 /bike looked like a rip-off but you don't have an option. If you want to get to the top, you have to pay the money.

Our next pit-stop was just outside Mysore to get the group back together after being separated by traffic .

Riding rules were for once not enforced when we entered the 6 lane Mysore Ring road. There was hardly any traffic on the road giving some of us the perfect opportunity to test the limits of our bikes. Everyone went back to their positions as soon as we touched the Bangalore highway. 10 kms later we stopped for our lunch.

After lunch we headed straight for Bangalore without any pit-stops in between. Our only stop was about 20 kms before Bangalore for our last and final meet, which meant, we had to ride for 100 kms without a break.

This turned out to be the best ride of the trip for me. The highway was buzzing with traffic and we were busy overtaking them from every side. It's easier to get past traffic on a bike and less frustrating. You can maintain a decent average speed even on high density traffic.

A highway ride is incomplete without noticing a bunch of idiots on the road, some of which were

A couple riding with their 2 kids on a Honda Glamour at 90+ kph

A guy circling us on his bike to make his presence felt

A few Innovas going at insane speeds and trying to run us over

These are just a few of the many I noticed.

Most looked tired when we stopped for the last time. Numbers were exchanged and a final speech from the club president marked the conclusion of our ride. We all said our goodbyes and promised to meet for the next ride.

This trip was a different experience compared to my road trips in a car, and it taught me a lot about biking. But most importantly I understood the importance of safety gear while riding which I've always ignored thinking it's a waste of money. I enjoyed every bit of it and look forward to riding with the club soon.  

p.s. The club's next ride is a 15 day trip to Bhutan which I unfortunately cannot attend but I'll definitely make it to the next one they start from Bangalore.

This was the which look so beautiful and actually it was bt this was when we all stoped in a point amidst the barren jungle and mountains with nearly no roads (here i mean to the condition of roads which asks you not to ride during nights) wondering which side to go so that we can reach early and stop fr the night.
