Match1, Part I SKCA and N1 Events locked horns in the first match of the tournament. SKCA, electing to bat first did not have a great start as their captain Shiv Kumar Gowda departed early. Shivaraj then joined Manjunatha in the middle and together they put on a show. The duo were scoring boundaries at will as the team score crossed 100 run mark in 7th over. Shivraj was soon dismissed after scoring his 50 off just 20 balls. That too didnt help N1 in putting the brakes on scoring rate as Yash joined the party. N1 did manage to pick up few wickets in the middle overs thanks to Yashwanth and Sachin but it was all too late.Cameo from Anshuman propelled SKCA to a mammoth 240/8 at the end of 20 overs. Manjunatha was their top scorer with a delightful 72. Shivaraj and Yash contributed with a 50 and 54 respectively. For N1, Yashwanth and Sachin were the pick of their bowlers who picked up 2 wickets apiece. Couple of dropped chances did not help their cause either. N1 started off with an early loss as sachin was dismissed for a blob in the very first over by Anuj. Sharath Srinivas along with Deepak Sridhar gave N1 a glimmer of a hope as they counter attacked and scored at a quick rate. But it didnt last long as there was a mix-up between the batsmen resulted in a run-out. With the introduction of spin, SKCA took charge immediately and never let N1 get off the hook. N1 managed to get 155 at the end of their 20 overs thus handing over defeat to SKCA. Sharath was their top scorer with a crafty 39. All the bowlers were among the wickets for SKCA. SKCA sealed their spot in Final with this thumping victory. For N1, it was not quite their day. Match 2, Falcons vs Champions X1, Part I Falcoms won the toss amd elected to bat first. Nihal and Aleem Pasha gave falcons a decent start. As they were cruising towards a good total , Lochan helped Champions X1 to pull things back by picking up 2 crucial wickets. Captain Sayed was joined by Ritesh and then saw a steady increase in scoring rate. Ritesh was the aggressive of the two as he sent the Champions X1 bowlers to all parts of the ground. Kl shrijith did manage to dismiss sayed but Ritesh had other ideas as he continued his brutal power hitting. Falcons had a strong finish and ended up with 200/4. Ritesh remained unbeaten on 88 which included 8 boundaries and 6 massive sixes. Skipper Aditya and Vinay Sagar started Champions X1's chase and they went berserk. Vinay in particular unleashed himself with a T20 batting masterclass. When Aditya was finally dismissed, scoreboard read 87 and the powerplay was yet to be done. That was the breakthrough Falcons needed and captain sayed triggered a collapse. Wickets kept falling at the other end and all hopes were on Vinay to take his team over the line. But Falcons did not let that happen and vinay was scalped for 91(40) with champions X1 still needing over 50 runs but with only 3 wickets on hand. Lower order did try to keep their hopes alive but eventually fell short by 16 runs. Credit must be given to Falcons' bowlers who despite having a bad start hung in there and registered one of their greatest victories. Final , SKCA vs Falcons, Part II With some cloud covers hovering, match was reduced to 16 overs a side. SKCA did not have any hesitation to bat first after winning toss. Manjunatha and Shiv Gowda wasted no time and made their intentions clear with a flurry of boundaries. Falcons little did they know that it was just a teaser of what was about to come. Shivaraj who walked in after the wicket of Manjunatha was in a different league altogether. Shivraj was at his belligerent best as he started from where he left off in the first game. Falcons had no answers to him. He registered his century in just 29 balls. He also did something spectacular that of hitting 6 sixes in an over. Not something you would come across very often. Shivraj's whirlwind innings came to an end at 130(44) but the game was already out of Falcon's grasp. Tushar who missed out in their first game made his presence felt with an extended cameo of 43(22). SKCA finished their innings with 244/4 on the board. Yes, you read that right. Falcons who were shellshocked by the batting display of SKCA started their herculean task of chasing down 244 in 16 overs. SKCA were relentless with ball in hand as well and they picked up wickets at regular intervals. Shiv Gowda broke the back of their chase with 4 wickets in his 3 overs and was supported by their other bowlers. Falcons finished with only 136 on board after their 16 overs. A one sided contest indeed if one has to admit. Heartbreak for Falcons who could not replicate the fighting spirit which they displayed in their earlier match. SKCA were deservedly crowned champions for their phenomenal display of cricket in both the games.
