✧ —Rating 1 Pokemon every day because I'm a silly little goose
#0004 - Charmander
Lord whatever I'm going to say people will get mad.
I've always somewhat disliked the entire Charmander evolution line because I've never really bonded with it. I usually used Flareon or Ninetails as my fire Pokemon in my Blue run so I never chose him as a starter. (And I personally prefer the other dragon-like Pokemon a lot more)
BUT he's still kinda adorable even though he's shaped like a dick. His bald head kinda scares me but he's despite that very friend shaped.
And to sprinkle in yet another personal story, my dad once gifted me this Charmander card.
Not an actual image cause I'm too lazy to get up and make a photo. I really cherish this card (and my dad) so I guess I'm to some extent somewhat biased.
✧ —Final Rating
Cuteness: ❤️❤️❤️♡♡
Edibleness: ❤️❤️ ♡♡♡ (bro's shaped like a dick)
Biasedness:❤️♡♡♡♡
Overall a 6.6, he has the right to exist

re-doing the poll!
remaking my prev d0n0 post- I'll try to keep this short. (DO NOT TAG MY POST WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN ANSWERS TO MY POLL!)
in my previous post, I asked help for paying my bills + getting some $ back into my bank (bc paying the bill literally emptied my bank acct).
now, the main reason I'm asking for help is because my puppy needs to be vaccinated and sterellized (the vet clinic required my pup to get vaxxed first before being sterellized). on top of that, he has skin problems too.
"luckily", the (current estimated) cost to get my pup vaxxed + sterellized is only $2 higher than my prev goal.
$56/$87

was thinking about regional variants and also ive wanted to redesign the eeveelutions for a long time so here are some [NAME PENDING] regional versions of eevee and its evolutions, which are dual-type! im quite happy with all of these designs :) which would you evolve your variant eevee into?
more thoughts under the cut
eevee: i pretty much just thought a floppy eared eevee would be cute, its also more fluffy than normal eevee. i wanted to keep it simple, but distinct enough from normal eevee that you can tell if youre getting a normal or variant evolution
if it were up to me all of these dudes would evolve by stone. fire, thunder, and water for flareon, jolteon, and vaporeon respectively of course, but also leaf, ice, sun, moon, and shiny for leafeon, glaceon, espeon, umbreon, and sylveon respectively.
flareon: i feel like this design is the least original but i think it looks okay. its stats would be more bulky and physical like its rebalance in renegade platinum, and it would benefit a lot more from tough claws. it could learn dragon claw, but probably not any horn moves because those are not really suited for attacking, more for show.
jolteon: definitely completely rain team designed. it would be able to learn hurricane as well as thunder i always thought jolteon would benefit from its neck thing being more of a thundercloud like raikou and making it flying type is just... well.... just give it cloud wings lol. i think it looks distinct enough from raikou or altaria, and im happy with how the drawing turned out
vaporeon: pathetic sopping wet little meowmeow. i dont think i originally planned on making it look that pathetic but it really works imo. he’s like one of those fucked up greyhounds
espeon: i originally wanted to give rock to espeon and steel to leafeon but then i came up with the shield thing and then i realized i could make espeon contrast with vampire umbreon with the cloaks and im very happy with that. when sheathed its shield would probably float a bit above its back or maybe it just puts it in like a psychic pocket dimension idk. i think it would have a more defensive stat spread because it has that huge shield, but would still be a special attacker. also it would learn kings shield i think. sorry aegislash.
umbreon: making it vampire themed and poison type just seemed so natural, i had some issues designing the cloak without it looking too goofy but i think i pulled it off in the end. eyes were originally red but it looked bad so i changed it to yellow. probably would be a lot more offensive than vanilla umbreon (which makes sense cause espeon is now defensive), and it would learn like... all the biting moves. which is why strong jaw. also dry skin is more cause of vampires hating sunlight and less cause it actually has dry skin
glaceon: i kind of hate glaceons original design cause its like bald on the back of its head. i think glaceon should be a fluffy good boy. and its ground type and still a special attacker i think. would learn earth power. would fit on a hail OR sand team.
leafeon: i actually came up with the bark thing while sketching it cause making it have actual rock armor wasnt working out the way i wanted. and i made the leaf parts spiky just cause. i think it would learn head smash and wood hammer, to make it an absolute monster with rock head :3
sylveon: making the ribbons into fists was always the plan. i removed the ribbons on the chest bow cause i always thought they were too cluttered but they would be more so with giant fists on the end!!! and originally its tail was gonna be like a wrecking ball but that was too much so i just gave it its original tail. obviously would be a physical rather than a special attacker and learn all the punches just like umbreon learns all the fangs. i feel like it would have a natural rivalry with umbreon since umbreon is sort of evil here.
can u tell ive thought about this a lot teehee anyway i have a savage raid in ffxiv soon so i have to go now ty for reading if you have :D

Who's That Pokémon? We Rate 9 of Detective Pikachu's Monster Makeovers!
At last, Detective Pikachu is out in the US! Now we can see our favorite fluffy ball of electricity test his deductive powers in the first-ever live-action Pokémon film. But, as we've seen, he's not the only video game critter in this film.
Ryme City is full of Pokémon from all across the generations, from Snorlaxes to Snubbulls. Spotting them all in the trailers and ads alone has been an adventure—so much so that when we decided to take a closer look at the Pokémon featured in the film, we knew there was no way we were going to catch them all! So we picked nine prominent 'mons who show up in the movie and pitted them against their earlier versions.
How close did the film iterations get? We think they're pretty good as a whole, but we're rating them one by one below. How do our insights fare against yours? Any others you think nailed it? Let us know in the comments!
So, without further ado, let's get this Poké-party started!
Charizard
The final form of Gen I starter Charmander (at least until the Mega X and Y versions rolled around), Charizard has always been a force to be reckoned with. Various Pokédex entries tell us all the things that make its searing fire even hotter: its bond with its trainer, its mood, and whether or not it's been through especially difficult battles.
It looks like Detective Pikachu's Charizard is just as much of a beast as its predecessors, with the added detail of reptilian scales and many more tiny teeth than its usually visible four. The progression seems like a natural one design-wise, and there was never any question who this brute was when he first appeared in the trailers.
Verdict: A mighty lizard indeed.
Psyduck
When we were kids, Psyduck was hilarious. As adults, Psyduck is a mood. Seriously, if I were confused all the time and had a constant headache, I wouldn't want to clear a path for a bunch of ten-year-olds, either.
Movie Psyduck has gotten a bit of attention in the trailers as Pikachu's sidekick, requiring smooth elevator music on car trips so its head doesn't explode and generally being in the way. So we've gotten to see a bit of this particular critter in action. And... yep. Psyduck definitelly looks like a duck with a migraine, from the ruffled anxiety feathers to the beady, exhausted eyes. Psy-ai-ai.
Verdict: Get this poor kid some Excedrin, I can feel the migraine from here.
Flareon
Eevees and their eeveelutions have one major job in the Pokémon world: be cute. Well, and have specific skill sets that work wonders in battle, but "be cute" is the primary one. Jolteon? Cute zappy boy. Leafeon? Cute leafy boy.
So all we need from Flareon is a cute fiery boy. Not sure about they eyes yet—maybe they'll chill out once its eeveelution is over—but the rest of the critter looks extremely fluffy and huggable. Which, again, is pretty much all we ask of an Eevee.
Verdict: Not sure about the eyes, but would still pet.
Jigglypuff
Speaking of a Mood, here's this little karaoke star.
If you've watched the Pokémon anime, you know all too well that this weird little creampuff's temper is heavily reliant on whether or not you stay awake through its performance. But considering one of its skills is singing opponents to sleep, your odds aren't good... and it looks like the movie's Jigglypuff has that same microphone/marker from the anime, so that dude napping nearby can probably expect to wake up to a scribbled-on face.
Jigglypuff is our first reminder on this list that Pokémon are weird. Some of them are just downright unsettling. Jigglypuff may be a pink fluffy sphere, but it inflates. Like, inflates. And gets super passive-aggressive. So the Ryme City version may look a little creepier than the anime one, but we're calling that completely understandable.
Verdict: A good round weird child.
Mewtwo
Whoa. This Legendary turned out looking super cool.
Mewtwo's almost alien look brought a dose of sci-fi to the Pokémon world. Where most of its creatures can be realted to something of this world, this big guy is unmatched... well, almost. There's those Mega-Evolutions to reckon with, after all.
He loooks awesome in Detective Pikachu, sporting those familiar determined eyes and almost amphibian-looking hands. Plus, in the midst of the Pro-Fluffy/Anti-Fluffy Pokémon Discourse, the choice to make him alien smooth was a no-brainer. We can't wait to see what kind of trouble he causes.
Verdict: He's back and as cool as ever!
Lickitung
Oh, yikes. Oh, big yikes.
Usually when a CG creature looks uncanny and slightly terrifying in a film, it's not on purpose. But this interpretation of Lickitung is pretty much exactly what it's supposed to be, and that just happens to be uncanny and slightly terrifying. From its massive human-looking tongue to its beady little eyes to that bald pink turtle... thing... face.
Congratulations, movie. You nailed it. And it's horrifying.
Verdict: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
Mr. Mime
Can we all just agree on one thing going forward? Mr. Mime is, like, a guy. That's an actual small dude sitting there. Look at him. He's just a small, weird-looking dude. And to the movie's credit, it looks like they just went along with that briefing.
His Pokédex entry has two major points about him. The first is that he's really good at mime, which we can guess from the name. The second is that, if you interrupt him in the middle of a bit, he'll slap you. Guys, this is just a small, angry mime pretending to be a Pokémon so he can beat people up. Why is no one bringing this up?
Wait, what was I talking about? Oh, right. He looks spot on in the movie.
Verdict: Tiny angry man.
Ludicolo
To behind-the-times Pokémon fans, this little dude probably looked like Psyduck in deep cover when it first showed up in the trailer. But that's Gen III's Ludicolo, a sort of duck/pineapple thing that loves to dance. Known as the "Carefree Pokémon," it's also been known to appear when laughing children are near.
Its Grass/Water origins are evident in the way the film has chosen to interpret the brim of its hat, making it look especially leafy. The choice to render the pineapple-shaped beard as—well—a beard is pretty interesting, too. The top of the hat also goes with full pineapple leaves, driving the look home.
Verdict: Creative and a little crazy. We hope Ludicolo is having a nice day.
Pikachu
We can't close out this list without addressing the movie's star, Detective Pikachu himself! Since Detective Pikachu is a specific member of his species, we went ahead and made comparison images for both hat and no-hat iterations.
Then again, reference pictues almost aren't necessary; Pikachu has become one of the world's most recognizable anime and video game characters. The zappy rodent is a mascot for the brand, and one of Nintendo's most popular characters. There's been a bit of Pro-Fluffy/Anti-Fluffy debate online since the reveal, though—for the record, the author is definitely Pro-Fluffy, since it mimics that look a lot of pudgy real-world rodents have of wearing puffy pantaloons over their tiny legs.
Whether or not you like the fluff, the little star is undeniably Pikachu through and through. He's got the zigzaggy tail, the emotive ears, and those teeny-tiny little paws. Even having the voice of actual Deadpool doesn't compromise the cuteness. As an added bonus, our little detective looks extra adorable when attempting to navigate a giant coffee mug.
Verdict: We love him. But that's a given.
How do you feel about the various Pokémon designs in the film? Any you think deserve a shout-out? Let us know in the comments! And don't forget to check out Detective Pikachu in theaters!

D-D-D-Doo-Doo-Doo, Pokémon Johto!
With my journey through Johto finally completed, it is time for me to count down the Top Ten favourite new pokémon from this generation. As with Gen1, I don't really dislike any Gen2 pokémon, so a lot of them were up for inclusion. Nine out of ten from the list either made it into one of my final teams (or one of their evolutions did) so it is clear to see that the pokémon you spend the most time with end up becoming your favourites. I've detailed my choices below and included the shiny sprite alongside the original Gen2 sprite - not that I managed to catch any shinies aside from Geodude!
10. Noctowl
I sometimes think the bird-based Flying-type pokémon are a little interchangeable, so one of the reaosns I like Noctowl so much is that it seems a bit different. Sure, it is stil Normal/Flying-type, when it really should be Psychic/Flying, but it feels a bit bulkier than most of the other bird pokémon that I've used, and is definitely capable of taking some hits with a base 96 Special Defence stat. Noctowl - which is not so much based on an owl, as it actually *is* just a big owl - also gets a lot of exposure in the anime as Ash catches a shiny one in Johto; the first shiny pokemon ever shown in the anime. The shiny is a kind of lime green but I definitely prefer the traditional brown of the original. YOLO, my Noctowl ended up on Gold final team after raising him from his pre-evolution, Hoothoot - a smaller cuter spherical owl. Maybe one day there will be a third stage added to this family to release all that Psychic/Flying potential!
09. Umbreon
Eevee and its 'eevee-lutions' always seem to be some of the most popular pokémon out there, but I've never been a huge fan and the Gen1 options, Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon, were all conspicuos by their absence from my Red/Blue/Yellow teams. God, I'm such a pokémon hipster. However the two new evolutions for Eevee introduced in Gen2 both caught my attention. As I've said previously, a good part of this because to evolve Eevee into Espeon/Umbreon you need to level them up at Day/Night respectively whilst they have a high friendship stat. And the only way to get the friendship stat up is to use them in battles, level them up, defeat gym leaders and not let them faint - giving you plenty of time to get a bit attached. I ended up using both on my final Silver team, but overall I prefer Umbreon. I love the sleek design and the shiny form looks equally fantastic, with the yellow trim replaced by a pale blue. If I ever get a shiny Eevee it will definitely grow up to be a shiny Umbreon. On top of this, it is a Dark-type, which was new and interesting and granted my team a measure of immunity to Psychic-type moves, ironically most useful against Reds Espeon.
08. Crobat
Crobat is a great example of how to bring interest to a previously unremarkable pokemon line. I doubt there were many people who loved Zubat and Golbat in Gen1. They were everywhere, making cave travel annoying, and there just wasn't anything much to recommend them. This all changed with when Crobat was introduced. I love the way the colours are inverted from its predesssors, going from blue with purple highlights to purple with blue highlights. This pays off even better in the shiny form as Crobat is now pink with green trim instead of the ugly green of Zubat/Golbat. Big improvement. Crobat is also the joint second fastest pokémon in Gen2, behind only Electrode. This means it nearly always goes first, which is incredibly helpful in battle. The Crobat on my Silver team was generally used for support, and its speed meant you could pretty much guarantee getting off a Toxic before the other team moved. Overall, although Crobat is another friendship-based evolution, I am pretty sure I would still have loved it, even if I hadnt had to spend all that time carefully levelling it up.
07. Swinub
Ah, the first pre-evolution on the list. Although I like the final form of Pilowine - one of them made it to my final Silver team - I really love its unevolved form: Swinub. Swinub seems to be based on a wild boar piglet and is completely adorable; definitely the cutest Gen2 pokemon, amongst some stiff competition. I absolutely want one of these in real life, although I will stick to the standard colouration as the blue shiny colour doesn't realy grab me. Swinub is found in the ice path route of Johto, has long striped fur to keep it warm, and always looks like it is dozing as its eyes seem permanently closed, even when awake. In the anime, it uses its snout to hunt for hidden items underground, much as pigs do with truffles in real life. These two features lead to its Ice- and Ground-typing, a type combination which I believe is still unique to this day. This isn't the most useful defensive typing with just one immunity and one resistance (Electric- and Poison-type respectively), but on the offensive side its dual STAB options can hit nine different types for super effective damage. That is pretty sweet.
06. Ampharos
I was really pleased to find an Electric-type that I really enjoyed using, as none from Gen1 made my Top Ten Kanto Pokémon list. Despite it being a strong offensive type with few weaknesses, I never really liked any of the options until Ampharos was introduced. I think both Ampharos and its initial stage, Mareep, are fantastic but it definitely goes through its awkward middle stage evolution; Flaaffy is both strange looking and annoying to correctly spell. I'm a big fan of weird evolutions lines and the combination of sheep shearing (Mareep is wooly, Flaaffy is partly shorn, and Ampharos is completely bald) and lighthouses (Ampharos is tall with stripes and in-game, an NPC Ampharos is literally used in a lighthouse as the light to guide ships) is a real winner for me. Ampharos is another pokémon where I prefer the original colouration to the shiny. Although its pale pink form makes it look a lot more like Flaaffy, and indeed more like a shorn sheep, the bright yellow is much more striking. Ha! Electric-type puns.
05. Blissey
Blissey is the new evolution for Chansey, but I like it so much more from a design point of view, even though it isn't dramatically different. Maybe my attachment comes from the fact that Blissey, like Crobat and Umbreon before her, is yet another friendship-based evolution that I got pretty attached to when training her up in my Silver run. Blissey is unique in as much as she is the only pokémon on this list where neither she, nor any member of her evolution line, made it on to one of my final teams. I really did want to use Blissey in my Silver team, but it came down to a direct choice between her and Espeon, as I trained them up side by side. Despite prefring Bliseey as a pokémon, I though that Espeons Psychic-typing would be more useful, but I hope to use Blissey in a team in the future. When it comes down to use within the team, Blissey is a Special Defense wall, with 255(!) base HP and 135 base Special Defense which are the highest and second highest stats in the game in their respective categories, making her a wall to reckoned with. Blissey is another pokémon on this list where I am not too bothered about the shiny version - it's just a different shade of pink: so lazy!
04. Cyndaquil
I will be very interested to see if there is ever a generation where I don't inlcude any starter pokémon in my top ten. These pokémon always get the most attention in the anime and other media, and you get the most chance to spend time with them as you have them right from the first portion of the game. You are also made to consider them more carefull than other pokémon, since you have to pick between them and you only get one per game. However, there was never a chance of Cyndaquil missing this list as it is my favourite Johto starter - although Pokémon Go is doing its best to make me love the Feraligatr line - and it might actually be my favourite of all six starters so far (sorry Bulbasaur!). All three stages of the evolution line are excellent, but I had to pick Cyndaquil over Quilava and Typholsian due to it's sheer adorable-ness. In the anime it is one of the few pokémon that has a kind of character arc, where it is sleepy all the time and gets very tired battling - sometimes unable to ignite its powerful Flamethrower attack - until Ash trains it to be stronger. It also has a decent sort-of-purple shiny, which looks pretty nice, but once again the original dark green colouration wins out.
03. Miltank
A lovely, lovely cow, with great big lovely udders! Swinging around going 'Moooooo!'. I definitely should have named my Gold team Miltank after Nursie from Blackadder II. As you might have guessed, Miltank is a cow-based pokémon, which happens to be bright pink and built like a tank. Miltank works so well as a bulky support pokémon due to it being a Normal-type and only really having to worry about a weakness to Fighting-types. Aside from this, she could take hits for days and also possessed the ability to clear the rest of the team of annoying status conditions via the move Heal Bell. On top of that, her signature move in the form of Milk Drink provided some reliable recovery, even if Miltank drinking her own milk to recover HP is delightfully creepy. Miltank might be one of my favourite pokémon designs and I would definitely stick with the pink original over the kind of baby blue shiny. A lot of people seem to hate Mitank based on the fact the one owned by Whitney, the Normal-type gym leader of Goldenrod City, is massively over-powered for you to face at the stage in the game, and can easily wipe out your whole team. I have to admit this happened to me a couple of times, but all this did was make me want a Miltank of my own as soon as possible!
02. Heracross
The first Bug- and first Fighting-type to get anywhere near my top 10 lists, this is also a unique type combination that and although it is not the best defensively, it can hit a lot of pokémon for STAB super effective damage due to the ubiquitous Normal-type and its Fighting-type weakness. Heracross represents the only member of my Crystal final team to make it to this list - although Kingdra was a very close 11th place - but is absolutely one of my favourites overall, despite an underwhelming pink shiny. None of the pokémon that I like seem to have very good shiny forms. This is another fantasic design - Heracross is based on the Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle, which explains the part Fighting-type - and in the anime it is portrayed as a kind of friendly badass. I wasn't expecting Ash to actually catch one - he is still awful at catching 'em all - but was very glad when he did. It is also interesting how it is positioned as a new counterpoint to Pinsir: a non-evolving Bug-type based on a beetle. Pokémon games love having these pairs of unofficially related pokémon, and when the original Pinsir counterpoint, Scyther, moved on this generation by getting a new evolved form, Heracross was a more than worthy replacement.
01. Quagsire
Well, it seems I really love pokémon that are both bulky and derpy as hell. Like Slowbro before it - number nine in my Kanto top ten - Quagsire is a very vacant boy. His design is great and really simple, seemingly bassed on a salamander of some sort, but his typing of Water- and Ground- is even better. You do have to make sure to avoid any Grass-type attacks, to which he will be four times weak, however since Grass- is not one of the most common offensive typings, the Electric-type immunity gained is more than worth that risk. Even in the number one slot, I still prefer the original light blue to Quagsires purple shiny form - it just makes much more sense for a Water-type. Quagsire was my first choice for a pokémon to be on my Gold team in my first Johto run. I knew I had to catch a Wooper as soon as possible and evolve it - not easy as Wooper is kinda useless - but it was well worth the perseverence. Now just don't make me pick between Quagsire and Wigglytuff - that would be very tricky indeed! Maybe some sort of overall pokémon top ten will be needed when I eventually get to Generation Seven...
I can't believe that Generation Two is now finished, but I am very excited to continue my steps into the unknown with Generation Three. As previously, the last order of business is to show the fantastic artwork I had commissioned for each of my Gold, Silver, and Crystal final teams. Once those have been posted it is Gen3 time! Bring on Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald!

Note
The door swung open to reveal a portly man of average height. He was balding yet the last bit of hair he had was long enough to be tied into a ponytail. He also had a distinct ‘dad’ moustache, large glasses, and had a litten on his shoulder and a Flareon behind him.
“Hi daddy.” Hana smiled as she held onto Raihan’s arm. He let out a loud delighted laugh as he hugged his youngest daughter. “Is this your husband?” He grinned cheekily and it was no question as to where Hana inherited her cheek from.
After arriving in slateport the trek back to Hana’s family home was interesting…especially when passing by a certain house Pixie trotted over to the porch and with a smug smile….
The next thing they knew there was a smell on the porch as she looked pleased with herself. Hana knew all too well the reason but didn’t dare say it.
@eris-the-phantom-thief
Leon had to part ways with Raihan and Hana, or so he thought—but then it turned out he had other business to attend to in Hoenn as well (not as much as in Galar but still), coincidentally, so he ended up sticking with them instead.
“Uh, what is that…?” Leon looked over towards Pixie. “Are you okay Pixie?”
Raihan blinked. “Well, to be fair, we haven’t had the chance to use the washroom much yet since we landed in slateport…”
