#bakudeku still has a chance and we have yet to lose once

Just saw some Narusasu shippers shitting on Bakudeku, and as someone who's first gay ship and otp used to be Narusasu instead of Bakudeku, I have some thoughts.

I remember the heartbreak I felt the day Kishimoto ruined Narusasu by forcing them to be romantically involved with women without a single bit of relationship development. Naruto ended up with Hinata in a filler movie despite having ignored her even after her romantic confession to him, and Sasuke abandoned Sakura after having a child with her. This was not the ending any of us wanted. We wanted Naruto and Sasuke to peacefully resolve their rivalry, and find love in each other after all they've been through. But unfortunately, that's not what happened as Kishimoto had to force a next-gen onto us, and permanently friendzoned them. It's tragic and felt like a betrayal, but shounen had not been ready for queer relationships, so Narusasu being shafted was ultimately inevitable.

While I cannot say for 100% certain, I can say that Bakudeku has a much greater chance of becoming canon than Narusasu ever did. Horikoshi once stated that he will tell the story he wants to be told and not follow the stereotypical formula, contradicting Kishimoto who went with the shounen ending we've seen many times before of the protagonist accomplishing their goal and marrying a woman and having kids (even though they have no chemistry with said woman or a lack of feelings for them compared to their rival).

Horikoshi had the chance to make Izuocha canon. They could've confessed before the war, but they didn't. The two moved on with their lives, and have made no desire to talk about feelings for each other, but are rather focused on other peope (Bakugou and Toga) as that's where their hearts reside. Bakugou also has no other potential love interest aside from Midoriya as he is the one he is closest too in the entire world and knows the most which is different than Sasuke who had some moments with Sakura scattered throughout the series from the start.

Bakugou cares about Midoriya in a way that's beyond friendship. He means the word to him to the point he was willing to sacrifice himself and even die for him, and will make himself vulnerable around him and nobody else. Midoriya has hidden feelings for Bakugou as his thoughts regarding him are hidden, and his heart always spirals out of control because of Bakugou, but we have not yet been directly told why. Midoriya does not act like this around his other friends, and he has many.

Naruto and Sasuke resolved things right after their final fight, and their friendship returned stronger than ever before, but that was it. Yet even after Bakugou's apology, there are still unresolved issues even though Midoriya chose to forgive him, meaning something must still be said between the two. Midoriya did not want an apology; he wanted to deepen their bond beyond friendship, but was too afraid of rejection hence why he never confessed and hid his feelings instead.

This plotline is still unresolved as of chapter 405. Bakugou is now being honest about his feelings, yet we have still yet to see Midoriya's thoughts regarding Bakugou's death and revival only having been given face expressions. So if their friendship has returned and gotten stronger than ever before despite the series not yet being over, what else is there to develop aside from romantic feelings?

Narusasu shippers, I hate to say it, but we lost. We cannot change the past, but we can have hope for the future. Bakudeku has surpassed Narusasu long ago, and the two are closer to a love confession than ever before, which is something we never quite got close to with Narusasu. If Horikoshi is serious about not following the typical shounen formula, we might have a real chance here. We might not get a kiss or marriage, but if the two confess their feelings for each other and do not end up with women like nothing happened, then that would be a huge victory for the LGBT+ community, and hopefully open the gateway for more queer relationships in shounen jump for the future.

Both Bakudeku and Narusasu are amazing ships. I wish we could live in a reality where both became canon, but getting one would still be a major milestone. Do not attack each other over what could have been, but resolve your differences like Bakugou & Midoriya and Naruto & Sasuke did and look towards a brighter future where LGBT+ can be mainstream without us having to fight for it and fear losing.

It was never meant to be: IzuOcha

It still strikes me upto this date that not just once but TWICE, Ochako had the chance to confess her feelings for Midoriya and yet it never happened. There is a war going on and they're just children, mere high schoolers thrown to fight pro level villains.

This is the perfect time for them to confess anything, if there is anything to begin with. We all know that MHA is in its final phase.

Horikoshi is trying to tie all lose ends possible. This guy is literally speed running everything in like 3-4 dialogs or a chapter at most.

So basically, if the IzuOcha confession was a thing in Horikoshi's checklist,..

This was the perfect time!

And yet it never happened...

They had the chance and yet it was dedicated to show Ochako's progress as a hero. We see that she's no longer doing her Deku-kun-Deku-kun dance after seeing him. She's not even trying to strike a conversation from her side...

...

And before anyone says she was blushing for Deku, she clearly wasn't because that's her nature. She was bashful even when Iida said that. Notice for even it's the same words "Aww Shucks!"

It's totally normal and not just for Deku.

What also striked my mind was this panel shot of Ochako after Bakugo catches Deku. Notice how almost everyone runs to catch him expect her.

She doesn't move an inch because she knew Bakugo would catch Deku. She had the chance to close the distance this entire time but she doesn't.

We see that she maintains her distance from him and when was the last time she was thinking about him? Even that doesn't happen anymore.

I think it's a sign.

We already have great ships like KamiJiro and KiriMina and even BakuDeku that are well developed, so we can't just say that Horikoshi doesn't know how to write Romance and love stories. But what if those feelings that Ochako though were never there to begin with?

It was always someone else bringing it up and teasing her that made her blush, specifically Mina who herself has no experience in that department. She clearly remains fine until she is reminded of that.

We see that even during their cliff conversation, none of them try to close the distance. Deku simply thanks her, she's all bashful about it, Deku compliments her (maybe to subconsciously reassure her) which even she brushes off like nothing. Instead she changes the topic completely and starts talking about Toga.

They're standing metres apart and the speech bubble divides them. It's ironic that what separates them is the bubble saying "we'll stop them for sure" meaning that their goal will definitely separate them some day.

Even during her encounter with Toga she stated that she's been thinking about her a lot lately. When Toga tried to confess for Chako even that got stopped by Tsu.

This is something related to what I saw on twitter yesterday and I thought about how similar my opinions were, this entire time.

The confession never happened because it was just never there.

The more I think about it, the more I might be signing on to the theory that Izuku KNOWS his trigger is Kacchan, and he just hasn't admitted/confronted it yet...At least, that we have yet seen.

Hold my non-alcoholic beverage.

Once again, let's preface with the fact that we have SEEN with our own eyes, that Kacchan has been the trigger of two specific incidents, being Monoma insulting Kacchan and Izuku becoming angry enough to manifest Black Whip.

And second, Kacchan following him into danger, and then getting impaled and nearly dying to protect him, which then triggered possibly the most RAGE we have ever seen Izuku possess, AND the manifestation of Danger Sense, AND caused him to literally throw himself at AFO/Shigaraki which put him immediately under threat of having OFA stolen. Obviously, the vestiges protected the Quirk, but the fact still stands that the rage the a Izuku felt was enough to drive him LITERALLY into Shigaraki's hands, despite how very very dangerous that was. Izuku LOST HIMSELF so badly that he could have lost the entire war right there, if The Vestiges hadn't protected him and the Quirk.

The moment when All Might and Kacchan are trying to coach him and find the connection that brought about Black Whip. The mention of an external factor, and Izuku's avoidance of saying what that factor was(Kacchan being insulted, as we ALL know and explicitly saw), and arguably his words of "It's not something I can handle right now" seem a bit suspicious.

(NOTE: I've said before, that I had slight skepticism that this line about not being able to handle it and putting a lock on something, was meant to refer to the power he unlocked, however, watching season 5 has made me remember that, after the chaotic manifestation, and talking to Lariat, and realizing that Black Whip was part of his Quirk and therefore there to HELP him, and he had successfully used it without losing control because he ACCEPTED that it was a power that was there to help, not hurt him. I am not so sure that Izuku's "lock" is referring to the power anymore, but rather, his feelings for Kacchan.

But, I have new perspective that maybe, like others were pointing out, maybe it IS referring to the actual TRIGGER. IE, his feelings for Kacchan/his anger on his behalf.

I could be wrong, of course? But stay with me because this is a part of a larger context)

So, after the War arc, after Kacchan got gravely injured on his behalf, after hospitalization, we are given one thing before Izuku suddenly leaves. But it was KACCHAN's perspective, Kacchan waking up and being desperate to get to Izuku, and getting DENIED at the door. We are shown Kacchan's desperation to make sure Izuku's ok, but so far, even well after waking up, we are NOT SHOWN Izuku's worry over Kacchan's condition. We are suddenly FLUNG into a brand new world where Izuku is a drop-out "vigilante" working on the villain activity outside of school, cleaning up villains and questing to find out how villains come to be in their own minds.

We've seen him talk to his mom before he leaves. We've seen him talk to Gran Torino.

But we haven't seen him talk to ANY of his friends yet, ESPECIALLY KACCHAN. When there has been such a fantastic amount of tension placed on that particular relationship, after not only the sacrifice Kacchan made, but also, and particularly, the FOCUS that was placed on Kacchan trying to REACH HIM and FAILING.

We've all been forced to inhale a deep breath as Kacchan charged down that hallway yelling for Deku, and we are STILL HOLDING THAT BREATH. There is a huge, poignant LOOSE END there that is hanging over our head. We are still waiting for the payoff.

So like that scene, in theory, Izuku is still avoiding how he feels so strongly about Kacchan that he can be triggered into rage over him being hurt?

Actually, no, I think this sudden change to Izuku is very much him finally acknowledging it and acting on it.

The reason we have so much unresolved tension still hanging over Kacchan and Izuku's non-reunion, the reason Hori set up this big conflict that hasn't been resolved yet, why he showed us Kacchan trying to see Deku and not an ounce of Izuku wanting to see Kacchan before he leaves,

is that Izuku is actively trying to distance himself from Kacchan.

He did say that the reason he won't be returning to UA is of course because AFO could find him at any time and he would place everyone around him in danger.

But Kacchan? I think Izuku is still very much traumatized by the fact that he witnessed Kacchan taking a would-be fatal blow for him and falling out of the sky, drenched in blood.

I think he probably realizes that if Kacchan follows him into battle again, there's a real chance it could happen again... Or worse, AFO/Shigaraki, now knowing what a touchy button that is for Izuku, could actively target Kacchan on the battlefield, kill him, and/or use him against Izuku.

And Izuku is in the literary stage where the protagonist thinks that the love they have for someone else is a weak point and a danger/liability to those he loves, and so tries to shoulder all the burden themselves an shut the other out. He doesn't want his friends involved, he doesn't want Kacchan involved.

Because he knows that his love for Kacchan is his weakness. He's finally acknowledging that when Kacchan is hurt or slighted, he tends to lose himself. He loses control of his heart, and this is not something they can afford at this point in the game. Defeating AFO is now or never. (and he just desperately doesn't want Kacchan to be hurt for him anymore.)

He is going to have to learn, however, that, like Kacchan says to him, he can't keep playing the Hero on his own. And that their love can be their greatest strength, instead of a weakness.

So he's left, probably without a conversation with Kacchan. Hori is holding out on showing us this, building onto that tension, and I feel like he has some very significant pay off coming up. We haven't been shown any such conversation because he wants us to keep holding that breath for a little longer.

And if I'm right, it's gonna be dramatic when Izuku breaks down about this to Kacchan, finally. There was also some theories that Kacchan v. Deku 3 is going to follow the progression of their relationship and have this one center around Izuku's feelings being laid bare and Kacchan "accepting his feelings" as Izuku had done for him in KvD2, I think I'm a fan of this theory.

So yeah, Izuku knows that Kacchan is his trigger and purposely left without him for that reason.

That's basically my theory. Probably not the first one to think this, but I thought I'd write about it anyway. to get it outta my head, lmao.

Alsooo, yeah this is tagged for my Bakudeku peeps, and I use the word "love" in this, but you can read that as you will, either platonic or possibly romantic, not here to say this theory calls for canon romantic feelings between BKDK because that's not really my point, but at this point denying that they love each other in SOME capacity is being blind.

Ship or don't ship, but I legitimately think this is the psychology of Izuku's decision right now.

Waltz Within Chains Ch. 6 (A BakuDeku Omegaverse Fantasy Au)

Chapter  6: Shattered Dream

Izuku woke the next morning to a soft hand running through his hair and over his ears. He mumbled something softly and opened his green eyes, looking up at the dragon that he was snuggled closety with.

His head laid on his chest, his arm resting around his bare chest, the memories of the night before slowly coming to him.

Izuku's hand came to Katsuki's neck quickly, watching him wince when he felt the sharp sting of a new wound. Katsuki's hand was quick to grab his and pull it away.

“Careful. It's still healing,” he told him, setting the hand right back on his chest. Izuku cuddled close once more, relaxing a bit, a small look of an apology on his freckled face. The dragon rolled his eyes and pecked his forehead to show he forgave him.

That was right. He had marked Katsuki as his alpha last night. And then they had...

“Oh my god...” he mumbled, burying his face underneath the blanket. Soft laughter came from the dragon above him and Katsuki pulled the blanket up a bit to be able to look down at Izuku's rather flushed cheeks.

“Something wrong bunny?” he asked with a teasing tone to his voice. “Did someone just suddenly remember how much fun we had last night?”

“Yes,” Izuku answered, trying to pull the blanket over his head again but Katsuki kept a firm grip on the fabric.

“And what's so wrong with that?” Katuki asked, pushing his body down a little bit into the blankets and tugged the blanket over them both, enveloping them both in warm darkness.

“Nothing at all,” Izuku said quickly, looking up at him. “I just can't believe I acted in such a way. I never thought I could do something like that.”

“Well either way I did love every bit of it,” Katsuki said, leaning in to rest his lips against his bare shoulder, moving up to his mating mark where he laid a gentle nip. Izuku gasped, his body reacting a little bit just from this small touch.

“Looks like someone wants to have some fun again,” Katsuki laughed a bit, shoving off the blanket and rolled them over so that Izuku was laying flat on his back. The buny stared up at him, his cheeks a deep red but his bottom lip was tucked under his teeth.

Without a word he started to nod his head a little bit.

“Alright,” Katsuki said, leaning down to kiss his lips lightly. He pushed his legs open with his knee and smirked down at him. “But I've got to be gentle. You're still healing from your first time so it's going to be sore.”

Izuku nodded his head, his arms wrapping around Katsuki's neck as his wings extended out behind him. His heart raced hard in his chest, feeling like he was still dreaming. This was all very, very real though.

But dreams can turn into nightmares.

A loud crash came from the bedroom door being kicked in, breaking the lock on the door. Izuku let out a scared yelp, Katsuki pulling Izuku behind him, his wings spreading out to cover the prince's naked body.

“What is the meaning of this?” Katsuki snapped at them. Izuku grabbed hold of Katsuki's arm peeking his head out from behind him.

The oddly armored guards didn't answer and went into action at once, four of them approaching the dragon. His hands glowed hot but hearing the small whimper from his omega behind him he stopped. If he used his magic like that he could hurt Izuku too.

With his attentiong on Izuku they used this as a distraction and grabbed hold of him, tugging him off the bed and onto the floor. There they bound both his wrists in cuffed chains, using spears to pin his wings to the floor which he let out a grunt from the stinging pain.

“Please!” Izuku cried, climbing off the bed and went to kneel next to the dragon. One of the guards with the spears however held his hand up to block his path.

“Cover yourself up son, you're indescent,” he heard his father say. Izuku's eyes widened as he saw his father step into the room. He quickly grabbed the closest thing which happened to be Katsuki's shirt, which was large enough to cover him up.

“Father, why are you doing this?” Izuku asked, pushing past the guard that had blocked him and knelt down next to Katsuki, hands resting on his back. His hands were shaking, his stomach feeling like he was about to throw up whatever was in it. “What has Kacchan even done?”

Though it was quite obvious. They were both bare with Katsuki having been on top of him, kissing their troubles away. Anyone would know what they were doing together and would've done if they hadn't been intrupted.

“He defiled my son,” the king stated, looking down at the dragon in disgust. “He marked him when someone like him isn't supposed to marry royalty. You were meant to marry one of the alphas I had hand picked for you last night. And yet I come to find he had done it already years ago.”

Izuku paled, squeezing Katsuki's arm worried. When his father made up his mind there was no changing it.

“For this act he will be sent to the dungeons to await his trial,” the king stated, gesturing to the men to pull Katsuki up. One guard came up behind Izuku, pulling him up away from his apha who started to kick and squirm to get from his grasp.

“Kacchan!” Izuku cried out looking to him with wide scared eyes. Katsuki looked back to him. Every fiber in him wanted to comfort his mate but he was not in a position to be able to do so. “Father please! You cannot do this! I wanted him to do this. For years.”

“Your brain is clouded my son,” the king said, his back turned to him. “We will have someone come to break the claim on you soon enough. Im afraid it might hurt. You've been stuck under his spell for to long.”

Izuku gaped at his words, tears welling up in his eyes as she shook his head hard, his ears flopping back and forth in his face.

“No!” Izuku yelped, trying to push past the guard again as they started to pull Katsuki out of the room, his alpha struggling against them.

The king led the charge out of the room and Izuku felt the tears finally leak down his cheeks. He finally had gotten his alpha and now he had lost him in the course of only a few hours. This was a nightmare he wanted to wake up from.

“Kacchan!” Izuku cried out loudly.

Katsuki growled as he fought against the chains that were around his wrists but they were tight, digging into his skin with each movement he made.

His inner alpha was in overdrive. His mate was distressed and scared and he was being taken away where he couldn't comfort him. And what was worse was that the king was going to force their bond to break.

It would not only be painful physically but mentally as well. While Izuku's bond on him was brand new it wouldn't be that bad, he didn't think Izuku would make it himself if they broke his. He had to get out of this some how.

“You better not break that bond,” Katsuki growled at the king the closer they got to the dungeons. He had never been defiant but he was tired of this man trying to run Izuku's life. The bunny finally had a chance at happiness and the man was taking it all away.

Hisashi stopped walking as they got to the dungeon door and turned to the dragon with a scowl on his face.

“How dare you talk to me like that you dragon filth,” he spat at him. “I will take that claim away and rip that poison you had put into my son's mind for years.”

“If you do that you may as well end up killing him,” Katsuki growled right back at him, earning himelf a harsh punch in the face. He grunted, tasting blood.

“I will be saving him. You on the other hand I have no problems killing,” he finished. He gave a nod to his men as they carried him into the dungeon.

Katsuki growled against their hold, attempting to use magic but when he tried it came out in a puff of smoke.

“What the...” he growled, looking at his hands as they were cuffed to the wall. He tried again but once more smoke was the only thing that greeted him.

“Don't even bother trying to use your magic. These men are specialized in blocking magic,” the king said with a smirk of his own. “Don't worry, your fate will come soon. For touching my son. For marking him. You will be killed for your crimes.”

Katsuki growled and tried to jump at him again but the chains tugged his wrists back. The king growled and stepped from the room, the door closing behind him, the only light coming through the bars into the room.

“Oh shut it. I dont even see what my wife or son saw in you,” he stated, leaving Katsuki alone as he and the guards left.

“Izuku..” he mumbled, feeling his body shiver. Without his magic he couldn't keep his bare body warm. He'd find a way out of this. He had to.

He didn't want to see Izuku get hurt.

Dressed in different clothing Izuku ran to his mother's study, panic striking his handsome features. He was having a hard time even moving. His backside hurt and his vision was blurry from the tears leaking down his cheeks, yet he pressed on.

He couldnt lose Katsuki this way. Yes what they had done had gone against the throne but was that really on grounds for treason?

Izuku hestitated outide the door. His father had placed the whole blame on Katsuki. In a way he was trying to protect him but at the risk of destroying what little happiness he had in this life. This life where he wasn't allowed to make his own choices.

His mother had to have some sort of solution. She had helped for so many years. All the anger of her not telling him of who his alpha was flew from his head.

He just wanted her help to get him back.

He knocked on the door and cracked it open. Inko sat at a desk, sipping a cup of tea. As the door opened and she saw the familiar ears poking in first she smiled and set her cup down, happy to see her son.

“Izuku,” she said warmly. “What brings you here? I would have thought you'd still be with...Well I mean.” Did everyone know what they did?

Izuku stepped in, closing the door behind him.

“Father took him away,” Izkuku whispered.

Inko was quiet a moment. “He what?”

Izuku sat down in the chair before her desk slowly and that's where more tears streamed down his cheeks.

“Father took Kacchan away,” Izuku sobbed hard. “He caught the two of us in bed together and he proclaimed because Kacchan claimed me as his omega, he has committed treason against the kingdom.”

Inko's skin paled and she rose from her seat quickly, going to her son's side and wrapped her arms around his shoulders.

“He's going to sentence him to death mother...” Izuku cried, clinging to his mother. “I just found my alpha...I don't want to lose him.”

Inko pet his hair gently, biting her bottom lip. This was not what she expected. She had been ready to smooth her way into letting Izuku have Katsuki be his alpha but things had gone very wrong. She couldn't see how it could get worse.

“And father said he also wants to bring someone in to break the bond,” Izuku added with a hiccup. Inko tightened her arms around him. No it certainly had gotten worse.

“I won't let that happen Izuku,” she said to him softly, petting his hair gently and kissed the top of his head as he cried into her arms. “I will make sure that I will let the two of you be together. I promise you this.”
