The incredibly serious baseball drama anime, Kyoujin no Hoshi ends and introduces its audience to the anime that will take it's place: Tensai Bakabon.

This is one of the most showa era things I can imagine.

Technically Akko-chan came first! Osomatsu-kun & Himitsu no Akko-chan we’re running around the same time so in the chapter of Oso-kun where they needed a girl Akatsuka just reused Akko’s design and called her something else (and likewise in the Akko manga the sextuplets or Iyami would just pop in for a visit, he gave no fucks I love it lol)

Akko & Totoko are treated as totally different characters though, especially now since different studios own certain characters (like Akko is part of Toei’s classic magical girl line & since the success of Osomatsu-san I imagine Pierrot will be holding onto that IP for as long as possible) and they really are, Akko is definitely more aggressively nice than Totoko tends to be portrayed

And it gets better! There’s a third girl born because of these exact copyright issues: Momoko! (90’s Moretsu Ataro)

Akko has been listed as one of Akatsuka’s favorite characters he’s made (up there with Bakabon’s Papa) and honestly I’m glad
