How Yan! Adepti react to feeling jealous (separate)
A/N: I FINALLY finished all the 10+ story quests I had lined up that I was procrastinating doing. It was gruelling. I've never pressed space bar so much in my life. By the end I couldn't feel my ass as I'd been sitting on it for too long BUT on the positive, doing Xianyun's story quest made me nostalgic for Liyue and got me motivated to write a little bit! I may do a harbinger one if I feel a bit silly, I'm not sure yet but please let me know if that's something you might be interested in! <3
(also i’d usually give this a little final read through but i am so exhausted so i just wanna get it posted so please forgive any silly mistakes or inconsistencies)
Word Count: 7.0k words
Includes Zhongli, Xiao, Xianyun, Ganyu
Warnings: Yandere Behaviours, if you are uncomfortable with dark themes please don't read! obsessive/possessive behaviours, younger Zhongli has serious issues - honestly all of them do, threats, violence, murder, manipulation, stalking, implied somno (depends how you read it) in Xiao's excerpt, some truly earth shattering delusions

Ganyu:
Renowned throughout Liyue Harbour for her mild manner and keen work ethic, the overworked secretary of Liyue Qixing was always a welcome sight around the harbour. It had taken Ganyu months to push past her bashfulness alongside countless encouragements from her colleagues and friends to confess her feelings to you.
It had only been once Captain Beidou had drunkenly declared that she would tell you herself if Ganyu didn’t muster up the courage that the Qilin had decided to tell you. Her cheeks flushed pink as she stuttered out her confession to you in the evening lantern light of Liyue Harbour.
Much to her delight you did not coldly reject the woman, instead you pressed a soft kiss to the corner of her lips before muttering that you felt the exact same way.
In her thousands of years of life Ganyu cannot recall a time she's known more peace than the time she has since shared with you. Your mere presence coaxes the insomniac into a gentle slumber. Every day she gets to spend by your side is a day in which the woman is glowing with giddiness, so much so that even the conqueror of demons had noted the positive change to Ganyu’s disposition.
Ganyu had always adored her position as secretary even if it had caused her immeasurable stress, she had always strove to serve Liyue in whatever way she could and never resented her position in spite of the responsibility it entailed however now that Ganyu had something to treasure, someone she wished to hold close she couldn’t help the annoyance that crept over her when she was asked to work overtime for the 5th time this week.
The Adeptus wanted nothing more desperately than to return to your shared home (she had insisted you move in with her as soon as possible and you simply couldn’t say no to her large violet eyes as they glimmered with unshed tears at the thought of you rejecting her offer) and monopolise you for the evening, ushering you into bed and holding you as tightly as the poor qilin could, whispering sweet nothings into your skin.
Ganyu prided herself on her maturity but even she couldn’t prevent glowering when she was denied yet another precious night in your company after Baiwen begged Ganyu to stay and help fill in some paperwork.
She had dedicated herself to ensuring the smooth running of Liyue harbour yet even she could not fend off the envy that shadowed her as the thought of you running around the harbour without her. Every single person that was allowed to gaze upon your face while Ganyu was away from your side were rapidly earning spots on the Qilin’s list of enemies (a list she had only created 20 seconds prior)
Due to Ganyu’s soft and sensitive demeanour it’s easy to forget the sway she holds over Liyue. Several of the Qixing owing her favours after her years of servitude, she is in possession of countless embarrassing secrets she has gained access to due to her position. She holds the ears of the wealthiest people in teyvat as well as having fought ferociously in the archon war in bygone millenia.
Ganyu helped construct the very nation of Liyue into what it has become, moulding it with her very hands into the prosperous land it is. The people of Liyue have seemingly forgotten that Ganyu’s servitude is entirely her own choice. She does not serve the Qixing because she sees them as above her, she serves the Qixing because she wishes to, because she understands Liyue would collapse without her guiding hand.
Perhaps people will remember that when a man who makes a flirty remark to you will have a letter left on his doorstep detailing a solemn secret he long thought buried.
Perhaps people will remember that when the girl who blushed when your hands brushed as you both reached for the same bag of wheat is arrested for fraud despite her desperate claims to the contrary.
Perhaps people will remember that when the vendor who overcharged you goes bankrupt the following morning.
Perhaps people will remember that when the treasure hoarder who accosted you for your mora is found weeks later deep in a cave in Minlin, impaled with countless frosty arrows.
Rest assured, if people forget just how fierce Ganyu can be then she is more than happy to remind them.

Xianyun:
Xianyun often considers herself above such petty emotions as jealousy and possessiveness.
She loudly declares herself one of the most measured of the Adepti, harbouring centuries of combat prowess and mechanical genius, raising two independent and fierce young woman on Mount Aocang, remaining a fierce and honourable servant to Morax and enduring the insults that flying rat that accompanied the traveler spewed at her, intentionally and not. Xianyun regarded herself as a dignified and patient woman.
After centuries of not being proven to the contrary, to the mighty Cloud Retainer there is no issue that cannot be overcome with the technical brilliance she has acquired or the thrumming power of the illuminated blood in her veins or so she had believed until recently.
Despite the mystery and majesty the Adepti commonly shrouded themselves in as they dwelled in their mountainous retreat, Xianyun had always been vigilant in ensuring that she honoured her vow to Rex Lapis and safeguard any of his subjects she comes across.
After doing her divinely ordained duty centuries ago and saving a young man from a rock fall she had since become accustomed to receiving offerings from the man's family and his descendants in the centuries since then.
As an adepti offerings of thanks and acknowledgments of her mercy were not uncommon, especially to one so revered as cloud retainer. Even so she continued to be surprised that his descendants remained vigilant in offering their sincere gratitude towards her centuries after she saved the man.
If you asked Xianyun herself she would claim she holds none of the descendants in higher regard than the other however if you were in her presence when a certain individual climbs up the path to Mount Aocang you would be able to see in the way her breath hitches and she stops her sentence, her entire being frozen as she watches them set down the home cooked meal and offer a gentle prayer of thanks.
Even in her crane form her eyes never once stray from the visitor. She trails her vision over them, intaking every aspect of their appearance. how their hair falls over their face, how their breath comes out in warm puffs after the exertion of the climb, how they let a satisfied grin fall upon their face as they set the meal down.
Despite her tenacity and confidence Xianyun has still not formally introduced herself to her visitor, instead opting to watch from afar. She goes out of her way to personally ensure that your journey to Liyue harbour is safe and uneventful as she trails after you in her avian form, her eyes on the path ahead of you. She is more than ready to dart down and defeat any hillichurls or geovishaps or clear the rock slide blocking your path before you’re even aware the obstacle is there.
If anyone were to inquire about her vigilance in ensuring your safety she would puff her chest out and remind them of her contract with Rex Lapis and the duty she had to guard Liyue Harbour and all its inhabitants.
Shenhe and Ganyu have long given up on inquiring about you after a flustered cloud retainer gave them the same monologue about her sworn duty to Morax for the 27th time.
Does she do this with every visitor to her domain? For thousands of years one has been a most faithful servant to Morax, to question one fulfilling their duty is to question ones-
As far as Xianyun is concerned she is simply doing her duty as an adeptus, there is no ulterior motive and she will ensure that she emphasises this to every person who inquires about her interest in you.
She even goes so far as to have Shenhe and Ganyu give her regular updates on your life when you haven’t been out Mount Aocang in a long time (read: over 24 hours)
Upon formally moving to Liyue Harbour, Cloud Retainer assumes the name of Xianyun and decides to use her mortal form to officially introduce herself to you. She will not allow you to know of her true identity as the subject of your reverence until she believes you are both adequately acquainted. One wishes simply to know you she thinks to herself
Again this is merely her curiosity at work she convinces herself. she merely wishes to know you are safe or so she attempts to convince herself, ignoring the tender fluttering in her chest at the thought of seeing you up close.
No this is simply her duty as an adeptus. She takes her contract seriously, nothing more.
She doesn’t seem this invested in any of the other citizens? One does not have to justify Oneself to the likes of you.
From the updates she had instructed Shenhe and Ganyu to deliver when she still resided on Mount Aocang she knew you frequented the Yanshang Teahouse. Unsure of when you would decide to visit it again she simply decided the best course of action would be to go to the teahouse every night from midday to closing until her eyes could meet yours.
On the 4th night of waiting to see you again she was growing antsy and entertaining thoughts of banging down every door in Liyue until she found you once again, her eyes darting around the room frantically. Her vision danced from face to face in a frantic tango until it settled on a familiar one.
Her entire being relaxed as she saw you seated at a table, soft hands clasped around a cup of tea taking tentative sips. The warm glow in your eyes made her feel as though she was feeling the warmth of the sun on her skin for the first time yet seeing that tenderness and affection directed at the person seated opposite you made her illuminated blood simmer as violent imaginings filled the adepti’s mind, a thousand different inventions to bring nothing but distress to your counterpart.
Equally Xianyun’s mind raced with a dozen different ways to fix this situation. No one but her deserved to see the soft glow in your eyes. No one but her was worthy of your reverence. To see you sharing the admiration she thought was only reserved solely for her... One would not stand for it.
You do not survive fighting in the front lines of the Archon war and a thousand tribulations afterwards by allowing slights against you to go unanswered. Xianyun was no stranger to seeking out her own justice.
Such a shame for the person next to you that they are visiting from Fontaine and as such she has no obligation to hold back. Even if they were from Liyue she is not entirely sure even Morax could prevent her from exacting her bloody vengeance.
Although she had originally decided to stay in Liyue harbour permanently she now found herself longing for the recluse of Mount Aocang, her only little world where the only people that mattered were the two of you. That was all she needed. You would soon learn that was all you needed to.
She would pack tonight and leave for Mount Aocang at first light.
The next time you would set foot on the mountain you would not be leaving again.

Xiao:
The conqueror of demons
The vigilant Yaksha
The bane of all evil
Throughout his many millennia of life Xiao has been called by countless titles but from you he longed only to hear his name on your lips.
After saving you from a few hillichurls he had anticipated the usual stuttering of gratitude that was so common from mortals, however what he didn’t expect was how his heart tugged at the sight of relieved tears in your eyes. Large wet eyes looking up at him with unabashed admiration.
The adeptus was puzzled by the clear reaction his body had to the tender gaze you bestowed upon him. With flushed cheeks and dilated pupils the vigilant yaksha quickly fled from the scene, not even muttering a word. He spent the night attempting to disregard how the gentle trembling of your lips replayed in his minds eye or how he simply couldn’t rid himself of the thought of how soft and supple your skin had seemed in the cool moonlight of Liyue.
The following day and night the yaksha busied himself with slaying the beasts and scum that loitered within the vicinity of the Wangshu inn. When you disregard the fervent replaying of your interaction yesterday that thrummed through his brain, the day had passed exactly as he had anticipated.
Torment.
Suffering.
Misery.
These were parts of his day that was not foreign to him. They certainly were not comfortable but there was an air of familiarity around these emotions. Perhaps his day would have ended in a similar way had it not been for the sound of hesitant feet making their way onto the top balcony of the inn.
He peered down from his position on the inn's roof inquisitively. Verr often made a point of ensuring any visitors to the inn avoided the top floor in order to grant the Adeptus much needed solitude.
Instead it was… you. Again.
In your hands sat a plate of almond tofu, your fingers gripping the porcelain plate almost hard enough to smash it as you called out hesitantly
“Adeptus Xiao?”
His hairs prickled as he heard you call out his name. Hearing his name on your tongue, echoing your pronunciation of every syllable, rewinding and replaying the noises you made. The hitch of your breath before speaking, the breathiness of your words, the fondness in your tone despite your nervousness.
He wanted desperately to drop down and greet you, to ask you to say his name again. He would beg if he had to yet he couldn’t move
“If you’re here… Miss Verr told me you enjoyed almond tofu so I’ll just leave it here for you. I-”
You cleared your throat, your voice gaining some timbre as you gained some confidence speaking to what you hoped was the Adeptus that had saved you
“I wanted to thank you for saving me yesterday, without you i wouldn’t be here now”
You placed the plate onto the balcony before giving one last hopeful glance around. No sign of the adeptus. Regardless you whispered a soft hopeful prayer that the adeptus would find the token of gratitude you were leaving him.
As he heard your footsteps retreat down the staircase of the inn he finally allowed himself to breathe again. Leaping down onto the balcony of the inn with feline grace, he picked up the dish you left for him. His mouth pooled with saliva, his appetite was not for the almond tofu before him. As he traced the sides of the plate where your hands had once been, his heart fluttered like a teenage boy with a crush.
Xiao had spent the day thinking of you far more than he would dare verbalise but this new interaction with you had fanned the spark of interest into a blazing obsession. To think that he had been on your mind too, it was overwhelming for the adeptus, he almost didn’t want to believe that one such as himself could be blessed with something so tender to cherish as you.
He took care to watch over you vigilantly, rarely straying from your side. Ensuring your safety and acting as your shadow became his priority, however he still maintained a distance between you both, fearful that perhaps he may frighten you away with the intensity of his desire to guard you his karmic debt might overwhelm him in your presence.
The yaksha’s usual post at Wangshu inn was quickly abandoned in favour of his new perch on your roof. Of course he would never wish to invade your privacy but when you leave your bedroom window open like that… surely you must have some idea that the yaksha has taken an interest in you. Perhaps you know Xiao is there, you’ve seen him in the corner of your eye and this is your way of inviting him inside and you're simply too timid to declare it.
Even if you haven’t seen him and this isn't an invitation, clearly your senses are rather dull and you cannot be trusted to watch over yourself. He has been trailing you for weeks now so if you truly haven't noticed him then that’s all the more proof that he should slip inside your bedroom window… to keep a better eye on you while you remain defenceless as you rest.
Those are the two primary justifications he cycles through as he tentatively slides through your window, his feet silent on your floorboards after thousands of years mastering the art of agility. He wanders around your bedroom, flitting through the little trinkets you had scattered about; pretty seashells, crystals, a vase of silk flowers, your outfit for the following day.
He huffed out a breath at your mortal amusements, countless little testaments to your interests, a dozen tributes to your fascinations. Despite the superfluous nature of these curios you had scattered about, because they were small remnants of you he simply couldn;t bring himself to feel disdain for them, not when they brought him just a little closer into your world.
After he had thoroughly explored every countertop in your bedroom, his eyes darted to what he had been attempting (and failing) to ignore this entire time. Watching your peaceful slumber brought him more relief than he cared to admit. He perched tentatively on the side of your bed.  Despite his attempts to restrain himself, he simply couldn’t prevent the wandering of his hand across the soft blanket that covered you.
Once he had traced his hand against your form, separated only by the blanket, he let his hand grasp onto a corner of it. Slowly peeling the blanket off of your form like a present that the archons had carefully wrapped just for him, golden eyes darkening as he drank in your body, covered only by sleep wear.
His deep, trembling intakes of breath stopped only when he saw your brow scrunch as you tossed in discomfort, reaching for the blanket he had since removed. Any moment you would wake up, he was sure of it. With no time to cover you back up with your blanket and even less to put your ornaments and baubles back in their spots he slipped back out of your window silently, returning back into the shadows to observe you faithfully.
The following nights he didn’t dare creep back into your bedroom. You now kept the window shut and curtains drawn. He would be dishonest if he said he wasn’t slightly frustrated by this development but moreover he was glad you didn’t simply ignore such an occasion. After all you didn’t realise it was him in your room, for all you know it could have been some debauched pervert. He would be thankful that you’re so vigilant about your safety if that was the extent of your preventative measures, however it was not.
You now had a friend staying with you. Admittedly you could just be having them stay with you as a deterrent or precaution to any unsavoury folks and yes he likely did give you quite the fright but you have no need for anyone's protection but his. You need only speak his name and the conqueror of demon’s is at your beck and call. He would be your undeterred shield, your unyielding blade to set upon any who would harm you if only you would let him.
Being around you makes Xiao feel tender and breakable for the first time since he signed his contract with Rex Lapis. He should hate how you make him feel but he can’t… he’s not sure he could hate anything pertaining to you. Well perhaps one thing: that friend who seems insistent on escorting you everywhere. Perhaps Xiao wouldn’t mind it so much (he definitely would still mind) if your friend wasn’t so liberal with his gaze, just by analysing the man for a few moments Xiao could tell he had less than noble thoughts about you.
After about a week of being on such high alert your friend convinces you to get out of the harbour, that perhaps some time away would do you some good. Perhaps you could go to Mondstadt for a week or so together. Usually you would be inclined to disagree with his spontaneous ideas but for almost a month Liyue has been smothering you. Initially you attempted to ignore the oppressive gaze you felt upon you, convincing yourself it was a mere delusion, a cruel trick your mind was playing but after last week you were certain there was a real cause for concern behind the gaze that followed you wherever you roamed.
Upon overhearing this conversation Xiao’s blood ran cold. Going to Mondstadt means leaving the area in which he can best protect you. Going to Mondstadt means you’re in far more danger than he could allow, sure he could ask that troublesome bard to keep an eye on you but that simply means opening himself up to questions he’s not even sure he knows the answers to just yet.
The accursed day finally arrives despite Xiao’s feverish wishes to the contrary. You begin the trek to Mondstadt when the sun is high in the sky, he keeps his eye on you, eagerly awaiting any moment you might need help, any opening for him to sweep in and keep you in Liyue for even a second longer. Perhaps this time he might mutter a word to you, tell you ‘you’re welcome’ when you inevitably drown him in gratitude or extend an offer of an escort all the way to Mondstadt (of course he’ll be escorting you regardless of whether you’re aware of it or not).
Instead you make it all the way to Wangshu inn without issue, much to the yaksha’s irritation. As the sun began to shrink into the horizon and the stars began to glimmer softly in the gloam coated sky, you beg your friend to stop in the inn for the night, hesitant to continue on with the daylight quickly dwindling however they refuse, insisting that you were practically at Stone Gate already and to keep on going for a little while longer, spewing empty promises of protecting you if anything might attack you. You shifted nervously, your eyes looking askew but you conceded, following dutifully after your companion through Dihua marsh.
As expected you didn’t get far in the dark without bumping into several hillichurls however much to your misfortune it wasn’t just a handful of meagre hillichurls. The mitachurl towered over you, his thick club raised in the air before slamming down next to your head as you rolled to the side. You darted out from under the beast, your eyes searching through the chaos for your friend only to be met with a distressing view. Your supposed friend fleeing the battle, their eyes searching for yours, tinged with pain as they mouthed a quick “I’m sorry” before continuing their desperate flee, leaving you to fend against the hillichurls alone.
Betrayal and dejection flooded you as you watched the person who had promised to protect you both from whatever had been watching you and whatever beasts you may bump into in the darkness. The stinging in your tear ducts and burning in your chest became dampened as you felt a swift tap to the back of your neck as your world faded into darkness. You felt no pain, no more betrayal as you collapsed.
Xiao had originally intended to take advantage of this situation. To appear by your side when the battle seemed lost, saving you if only to see your eyes light up in recognition of the yaksha before you but when he realised that wretch was fleeing from the battle, surely leaving you for dead he couldn’t stand still for another moment, his fingers curling around the air, instinctually craving the weight of his weapon to rest in his palms.
Using the end of this spear he hit you with just enough force to send you into the soft slumber of unconsciousness, catching you gently before laying you down on the grass, cradling your head like one would a newborn babe. With you carefully positioned out of his path he donned the mask of exorcism that usually sat at his waist, the karmic debt swirling around him in much higher intensity.
Slaughtering a small camp of hillichurls was a small feat for the conqueror of demons however he would not stop there. Xiao refused to rest until he felt that justice had been served for you, his most beloved.
Xiao scooped up your sleeping body before taking you back to Wangshu inn. When he first took up the mantle of protector of the inn Verr had offered him a room as thanks for his service and until now he had little need for it. He entered the dusty room and lay you down on the bed, brushing hair out of your face. The room was filled with only barebones furniture but perhaps tomorrow he would go to your home and bring you some of your pretty ornaments to make it seem more homely for you.
He allowed himself one small indulgence before he would head back out again to seek retribution for you. He removed the glove on one of his hands and took his bare, trembling fingers he traced across your lips. Memorising every inch and crevice of your soft lips beneath his fingers brought him a sense of unfathomable peace he had not felt since… he couldn’t remember anytime he had felt a sense of calm remotely similar to this.
Despite it paining him to do so the yaksha managed to force himself out of the stupor you had coaxed him into with your gentle breathing and sweet scent. Placing his glove back on and summoning his Jade winged spear the adeptus took off into the night once more.
When he returned to the remnants of the hillichurl camp, it didnt take long for him to find a trail. Following the dragging footsteps in the dust led him directly to your ‘friend’, now curled up at the foot of Wuwang hill, snot coating their face as their sobbed into their hands, wracked with grief and distress at their actions.
Even now the adeptus couldn’t muster even an illusion of sympathy or understanding, seeing them in this state only made his loathing for them grow.
They had truly deluded themself into believing they were a worthy protector for you? They couldn’t even defend themself.
With the hatred clawing up his throat like bile, Xiao couldn’t contain the Karmic debt slithering over him. His grip on his polearm tightened as he raised it above his head.
The fact that they truly believed themself to be a competitor for your affections would have almost been humorous had it not been for their display of cowardice not even an hour prior.
He plunged his weapon into their soft flesh methodically, his grip not faltering for even a moment. If it weren’t for his concern about you rousing afraid and alone, he would have taken his time and drawn their suffering out. He would have shown them that a few measly hillichurls were the least of his issues, instead he gritted his teeth, deciding to place your happiness and safety over his own desperate lust for vengeance.
Xiao quickly turned to abandon the scene. Even staring upon the filth’s body, thinking of the warmth and affection you had shared and how quickly they had forsaken you… No, he couldn’t end it like this. He turned back around to the almost corpse- the last few vestiges of life were flickering. Xiao resolved to make the last few breaths of air your friend would take as painful as possible. Digging his foot into their chest before he raised his polearm once more. Cutting and slicing, skewing and carving until all that remained after the frenzy was a mound of meat, muscle and bone.
-
Xiao crept into the room hoping you still remained asleep. A rare smile blossomed across the pale face of the Yaksha as he saw you curled up on the bed.
Dropping his spear by your bed Xiao stared at you longingly
He had waited so long for the moment in which he could express his feelings to you properly. He wanted to show you he loved you without fear. Now that you were lying in his bed, eyelids closed and breathing deep, Xiao made the decision that he could indulge himself fully before you woke up.
Just this once as a reward for saving you.
He’s sure you won't mind after all the time and energy he has devoted to ensuring your safety he’s almost positive you would be fine with him taking his fill.
Surely after two millennia of selflessness he has earned the right to be a little selfish.
With one swift step Xiao turned around to lock the bedroom door behind him.

Zhongli:
The reaction of Zhongli varies significantly depending on which phase of his life he is in. The man who goes by the name Zhongli has mellowed out considerably since his days as Deus Auri, If someone had stolen your attention away from him they may be greeted with several snide remarks and biting threats, if somebody stole your affection away from him then Zhongli would have a much less pleasant reaction however if either such thing occurred during his younger years as the Lord of the Adepti and God of contracts it is unlikely any potential suitors will escape unscathed.
In his youth Zhongli was far more of a slave to his draconic instincts than he was willing to admit. Upon the realisation of his intense feelings for you, the warrior god is far more frightened than he lets on. You are so fragile in comparison to him, so breakable. Not only that but humans are so flighty. Where Adepti may be content to sit on the same mountain top for centuries in solemn meditation, the same cannot be said for mortals. He has watched them flit about, to and fro for centuries and he would be lying if he didn’t find the mortal proclivity for change rather unnerving.
He has watched humans profess undying love for one another before turning around and betraying their vows to each other. It’s not that he thinks you’re anything like those adulterers, really he doesn’t but… you humans are slaves to your desires (he says, completely unaware of the irony his statement brings), he doesn’t want you to bring harm to your relationship because your human heart is fickle (you have not been made aware of your ‘relationship’ with the Lord of Geo) so he shall personally ensure that no one and nothing will allow you to stray from him.
And yes this is all because he cares about you and definitely not because when he sees other mens eyes flit across you he has to use every ounce of self control to prevent him from smiting the filth where they stand for allowing their lecherous eyes trail across you like a cut of meat at the market or a pretty jewel to possess (again, completely lacking in the necessary self awareness to recall how his own lustful eyes rake across your form).
Any man that makes an advance towards you shall meet a grisly end.
The shopkeeper who gave you an extra bag of rice on the house flees Liyue harbour muttering nothing but reverent prayers and desperate pleas for mercy to Rex Lapis for his transgression.
The Physician who helped bandage up your torso after you were wounded by a follower of Osial was offered a far more lenient punishment. Any place his skin may have made contact with you is carved off, his life is only spared as he was helping you however Morax cannot help the way his claws dig into his palms leaving fresh welts in the calloused skin, still unused to this humanoid form, unable to contain his rage at the thought of another touching you in a state of undress, even if only to heal you. Your bare skin is for his hands alone. If someone had to dress your wounds then they should have summoned him (please note that he has not made his affections for you known to you or anyone else for that matter)
After his most recent battle, felling yet another God who rivalled him for the position of Archon, Morax who had decided to take some weeks to allow for Liyue harbour to recover and the Adepti to rest. However when he learns it was a follower of Osial who dared to mar your delicate skin… He is rallying his Adepti with a fervour and aggression unseen from the warrior god. No one is entirely sure what has incited Morax to take such a devotion to ensuring Osial is destroyed but with his pupils in slits and his grip on Vortex Vanquisher so tight it looks as though the staff may snap, none of the Adepti are brave enough to question their lord.
Despite being renowned as the most fearsome of fighters no one, not even the closest of Morax’s allies had seen such a slaughter brought down by the Draconic lord of Geo.
Barbaric.
Savage.
Monstrous.
A slaughter.
Countless words could be used to describe the massacre Morax unleashed upon Osial, the Overlord of the Vortex and all his followers; however those were the most commonly repeated in the months following the extermination.
All knew to be wary of Morax, however that was the day the people of Teyvat truly learned to fear his wrath.
He hoped that when you looked out of the bay of Liyue Harbour and saw the Guyun Stone Forest, a complete destruction of every remnant of Osial and his forces, you would be reminded of his love for you, you would realise Morax is clearly the superior choice compared to all the other men around you.
Who but Morax could give you Teyvat?
Who but Morax would engulf the world in flame if only to see you smile?
Who but Morax could and would give you every comfort mora could afford?
He had frequently entertained various plans for his courtship with you; however the one his mind spun most frequently was to win the Archon war and assume his role as one of the chosen seven. Then he would raise you up as his consort, granting you immortality and binding the two of you eternally in a contract of marriage.
Of course that didn’t mean he couldn’t let his mind wander to other fantasies, his mind swirling with thoughts of spiriting you away to his palatial domain and keeping you there for days, weeks, months, years, however it took for his insatiable desire for you to be satiated. Only then would he leave his domain to win the war and return to you as the victor of the brutal war and one of the seven, finally able to rest a crown upon your head.
Admittedly he had yet to confess his desire to take you to wife or even that he loved you so desperately and fervently that it was one of the few things that managed to frighten the lord of contracts.
But surely you knew, even if he hadn’t verbalised it. He refused to believe you didn’t feel the tug between you both, reeling you together. You simply must understand what it's like to look into his eyes and feel as though you’re seeing clearly for the first time in your life. You have to know what its like to feel as though every step apart is energy wasted. You too must crave to feel his bare skin against your own, willing to merge into one if only to bring you both closer together.
Even if you somehow did not feel the same things… surely you must feel his gaze upon you. When he looks down at his city his eyes rest only on you, no matter how much he tries to break his gaze away from you.
Besides he doesn’t need words when he has made his romantic intentions towards you more than obvious in the way his draconic instincts have been roaring for him to. You have accepted his gifts of courtship happily, you clearly understand that he can fulfil his role in providing for you and any young you may have. He has seen you wearing the glaze lily in your hair, the very same lily he had his adepti scour the war torn lands for days to obtain.
Admittedly you seemed rather hesitant to accept the chests of mora and countless jewels he had left on your doorstep but equally you didn’t reject the gifts. As far as he was concerned that was proof enough that you had accepted his offer of courtship. By all draconic standards you were now officially entered into a contract with the rising Lord of Liyue and he would not take any contract lightly.
Despite the occasional event where some filthy wretch had to be taught to keep their lecherous eyes and hands off the Lord of Contracts future consort and the fact that he had not been able to converse with you about the future of your relationship, he believed his ‘relationship’ with you was going exceedingly well.
In spite of this and much to the rage of Morax, another reprobate had decided to give you an offer of courtship.
Morax can feel rage thickening in his veins, viscous and violent. Watching you blush softly at the Mortal’s meagre proposition. He understood mortals were far more inclined towards change and adaptation than a being such as he could even begin to comprehend as a deity that stands unchanging as stone, refusing to be eroded by the sands of time or the winds of change. Even so he did not expect such a flagrant betrayal. You don't even have the decency to look shameful as you forsake every thoughtful gift the lord of contracts had spent countless hours pouring over to ensure you received only the best.
Even if Rex Lapis didn’t currently have the time to display his affection verbally he had ensured that he had more than made up for it with his opulent gifts, only the finest for his future consort.
He had been desperately trying to restrain himself from stealing you away to his personal realm every time he saw you pass through the centre of the harbour. He had managed to restrain himself, displaying such self control and patience that he surprised even himself but a man has limits and the prime adeptus could stand no further insult.
How dare that vermin stand where he should, face to face with you, gazing into your eyes, drinking in the warmth that pooled into your cheeks, his arm extended with a meagre sweet flower clutched in his sweaty palm, the stem already drooping from being clutched so tightly.
Perhaps if you begged softly for the poor fools life Morax may bestow a rare act of mercy and only remove the man's eyes or tongue rather than his life, if only to see his beloved happy however all thoughts of Mercy were dashed when you accepted the flower with a soft smile gracing your face.
He didn’t think it was possible for his beloved’s glowing smile to inspire such a primal rage within him.
The city of Liyue harbour came to a stand still as their mighty Lord descended upon their city with a swiftness imperceptible to the naked eye to stand between you and your would be suitor.
A clawed hand clasped around the mortal man’s throat, blood trickling out of the small incisions the razor sharp claws of his humanoid form.
The man gasped for air however Morax’s grip was not dissuaded. His hand only faltered when he heard a familiar voice cry out
“Lord Morax! Please! Please release him i beg of you”
He turned his attention to you now perched on your knees, grasping at the bottom of his robe in a desperate plea and display of reverence. Although his blood still simmered with the fury of betrayal both at you and the wretch that had tempted you away from his side, seeing you now on your knees for him, tears welling in your soft eyes he simply couldn’t stay angry, not at you at least.
He threw the young man down on the ground with a sickening crack, watching him writhe around desperately clutching at the wounds on his throat.
No more waiting and no more distractions. This little infraction has persuaded him to do exactly what he needed to this entire time.
Taloned hands scoop you up, pressing you close into a solid, warm chest as you are quickly whisked away from the harbour and everything you had ever known. He should have known better than to allow you to wander freely without his stewardship or guiding hand to lead you.
Thankfully here in Morax’s private domain you two will be able to remain unbothered for as long as he sees fit, remaining far away from any man that may dare to tempt you away from him and he can rest easy knowing you will be tended to by the servants whilst he goes out and deals with the rodent that tried to damage he and his beloved’s relationship.
Not that it shall matter anymore once the mortal is disposed of. After all, despite his reputation as a war monger and monster, Morax is capable of understanding and empathy. You cannot help the fact that it is human nature to wish to try every experience, to culminate a portfolio of countless events and adventures, it really was a failing on his behalf to not keep a closer eye on you. Not to worry, from here on out he shall never part from your side, he shall be with you every moment of every day to remind you of your vow.
Of course if he wins the archon war, and he will, he knows in his very bones that he was born for the role of archon then he shall have the power and authority to raise you up by his side, as his consort and bestow you with eternal life and only then you shall truly remain at each others sides, forever. He shall not even entertain the thought of you being stolen from him again, covetous creature that he is.

iv. THE WIND KNOWS
Tumblr media
"yo, tao!" xinyan yelled as soon as she slammed opened the door of the wangsheng funeral parlor while followed by a quiet and smiling yunjin, startling meng, who was on his way to put the documents in his arms down on the director's office and earning a glare from the ferrylady.
zhongli and hu tao were the only one unfazed as they both finished their cup of tea before turning their attention to the two that walked in, "afternoon, how many I help you?"
that earned a frown from her friend, "hey, what's with you being so fo-"
"afternoon to you too, hu tao, mr zhongli and you as well mr meng and ferrylady," yunjin greeted, and was acknowledged by the two before they went on with their work, then hurried over to hu tao and pulling xinyan along, "we came here to ask you something, director."
the only answer she received was a tilt of the head from hu tao and a curious look on her face, "was there a funeral for the impostor?"
zhongli, who was busy pouring himself another cup of tea suddenly stopped and put the teapot down, attention now on yunjin, making her a little uncomfortable though she hid it well, "what impostor?" he asked, watching as she was about to talk but got cut off by xinyan.
"you know, the one that looks like our creator and is said to be claiming to be them according to the qixing," xinyan casually said before leaning on on the director of the yun-han opera troupe who didn't seem to mind.
"I'm sorry, what?!" hu tao gasped, leaning towards her friends with her eyes wide open.
xinyan and yunjin both stayed quiet for a few seconds, staring at her before their gaze went over to zhongli who stared right back, shock written on his normally calm face.
"'m assuming there wasn't."
Tumblr media
a few days were now gone in the blink of an eye.
how quickly time flies.
walking through the corridors of the quiet palace with only their footsteps being heard was eerily disturbing to the tianquan and her three (3) most trusted secretaries, despite having the lights seeping in through the curtains of the windows.
however, they kept on walking forward, eager to reach a bedroom.
and once in front of the bedroom they were looking for, ningguang took a deep breath to calm her nerves, her secretaries doing the same, composing themselves before the tianquan knocked on the bedroom doors.
"come in," a voice they are familiar with, that, unfortunately, held no warmth replied.
now liyue's tianquan was hesitant.
seeing this, baixiao, after sending looks of uncertainty at baishi and baiwen, immediately opened the door, slowly, to make ningguang understand that there was no use in being hesitant.
and it helped her in recollecting her thoughts and composure.
once the doors were opened just enough to let the four of them in, they all simultaneously took a step inside and looked at the figure slouched on a chair by the window.
"greetings," ningguang bowed, "we come bearing news.
the figure slowly turned around, eyes showing now signs of emotions, making the tianquan falter for the second time in under less than a couple of minutes.
"I have received a response back from sumeru, the impostor has been captured and dealt with as per your orders."
"oh my!" happiness was evident in their tone, "you should have started with that as soon as you walked in, ningguang!" the warmth was back, though it wasn't what ningguang was used to. this warmth felt... fake.
fabricated.
she brushed that aside.
"finally, we can make my grand reveal come to reality!" they sighed dreamily, lost in their own world, "I was worried about that impostor! I'm so delighted that it's been done and dealt with~"
they stood up and twirled around, before going to stand in front of the four (4) ladies. all looking at them with small, gentle smiles.
"our plan was put to a sudden halt but now," they giggled, "it can keep on carrying!"
the person in front of the liyue qixing grinned.
with your face.
sudden thunder could be heard in the distance.
Tumblr media
the tsaritsa could care less about whether the one that got captured was the real creator or simply an imitation.
though her only regret was not being able to find the 'impostor' and form an alliance with them to throw the whole of teyvat off balance. having them under her protection after claiming that they were the 'real' creator would have meant putting all six nations into shambles and for her to have them at the tip of her fingers.
though the thoughts of that 'impostor' being the true creator did come to mind. even so, that would have been a win-win situation for her. she reveled in her small fantasy.
both at the fact that the real creator would have trusted her more than the ones that would, in their words, "bend celestia" in order "befriend" the creator and to bring justice to their name but cannot discern the real from the fake and the fact that she would fave had them in her palms either way.
"a shame," her voice broke the silence as she walked away from the window she has been gazing out of, heels clicking on the solid ice flooring of her palace. the sound reverberating off the crystal-looking walls.
Tumblr media
sumeru had way more details compared to what technology could show you, you noted. many more birds than just finches, pigeons and parrots. a few weird creatures oddly ressembling chimpanzees and what not dangling on trees, even daring to walk on the roofs of houses.
it was... fascinating.
no titles were ever used in your presence when lumine's with you.
she didn't believe in any gods after all, even you. she saw you as a friend, someone who had helped her when she needed it the most.
you have made it clear that you aren't anyone's creator nor a god, especially to lumine. most people were the ones that kept on calling you by such imposing titles that it made you lose all hopes of making them understand.
once people started using your actual name more and more, making the use of 'your' title sparse, only used by those that were seeing you for the first time or knew you not, it felt... better.
it has been a month since nahida has made a public announcement that you were their creator. it also has been a month of no sleeping and yet not feeling tired, though, fear not: lumine did not sleep as well. in her words, "the nights and days of teyvat are shorts. shorter than what they are back home."
and once the announcement was made, everything changed.
many came to you to seek for blessings.
others came to seek for forgiveness for their sins, whatever they may be.
few came to ask for you to heal their illnesses.
those were always harder to deal with... at first.
the first time it happened, a couple came to you while you were on a stroll alone through the city, wanting to see it with your own eyes and not through a screen, came to you while sobbing. they told you about how their youngest son was severely ill. they begged you to heal their son, crying and bowing to the ground in fron of you.
you knew you could do nothing, you had no power.
yet you asked them to take you to their son.
and once their, you could only think that there was no saving him. the poor child was whimpering in pain while sweating a lot. tugging and turning on his bed.
you couldn't bare to see it but you approaches his bed nonetheless and knelt down besides him.
"hey, buddy," you whispered, gently taking his small hand in your own.
"I'm sorry you're suffering," another whisper, "I wish I could help you," and an attempt at a gentle smile.
the boy turned to look at you, eyes wide in admiration as he saw your figure.
from his perspective, you assumed you looked like a mere creepy stranger.
how wrong you were.
he looked at you in fascination as your eyes seemed to hold the stars within them and your gentle yet teary smile made him feel warm. so farm that he almost reveled in it.
you could only leave a gentle kiss on the back of his tiny hand and he giggled, making his parents gasp in shock.
and when you left, telling them to prepare for the worst, you felt crushed.
what could you do?
you were no god after all.
they came to find you at the house of surasthana the next day.
seeing them was too soon for you and you had to mentally brace yourself for their spiteful comments that were surely to come after you could not save their little boy.
though it never came.
instead, they cried tears of joy, bowing repeatedly at your feet, thanking you.
"what are you thanking me for?"
"your grace!" the husband exclaimed as nahida walked through the entrance, "our son was saved! thank you! thank you so much!"
the wife repeated the same words as her husband.
the archon of wisdom watched from afar, smiling warmly.
you were confused.
they left soon after, crying still and saying 'thank you's as well as promising to spread the word that you're a kind divine being.
"how did you heal their son, [name]?" the archon asked as soon as they left, making her way over to your confused form.
"I..." at a lost for words, you looked at the tiny archon, "I didn't... I don't..."
nahida softly smiled, "maybe you have healing powers?"
you violently shook your head, "no... no! I don't," you paused after trailing off, head down and looking at your trembling hands, "do I? but..." your voice trembled, "I am no god..."
the sound of doors opening could be heard, then running footsteps and the doors closing back up.
"[name]! nahida! wanderer!" paimon yelled as soon as she got closer.
nahida gently grabbed your hands after telling paimon and a panting lumine to stay quiet and wait as you were not feeling okay, and gently rubbed circles with her tiny hands on the back of your hands.
whatever she was doing, seemed to help.
and after running in looking panicked, seeing you like that made the travelling companions even more distressed though they stayed quiet.
nahida nodded at the traveler once and, somehow, lumine understood.
she approached you slowly before gently wrapping her arms around you, prompting you to do the same thing to her.
"you're all right, [name]. whatever it is that you need answers to, we will all help," her voice was gentle, "whatever it is that got you feeling uneasy, you're not alone to face it," she didn't know what happened to you prior to her and paimon barging in but those words felt right to be said to you.
the news that they have acquired while in mondstadt can wait.
your wellbeing came first.
you could only sniffle as you hugged her tightly.
nahida soon joined in, hugging your leg.
whereas paimon hugged your head.

Chapter #4 - The Great Sage Equal To Heaven
Sun Wukong learns about what his title as Baiwen truly means and storms out of Heaven with his mate right behind him.
"What?" Wukong's entire body tensed, his eye twitched and his tail froze when he heard the maiden.
"The Baiwen is the lowest celestial rank," the maiden stuttered noticing the way that Wukong was getting more and more angry.
The celestial guard that started the conversation looked rather smug about the information given to the Monkey demon. Neither noticed the shadows around the King's feet trying to keep him from flying off the rails. Even his own precious shadow was having a hard time reigning in this anger.
What did they take him for? He was Sun Wukong the Monkey King! He wasn't some lowly servant. How dare they treat him this way! He was king of flower fruit mountain, a demon king with several generals and an army of demon monkies back home. He came and blessed the celestial realm with HIS glory and they treat him like this!?
"Exactly what I was saying, now go gather the horses. They need to be returned to the stables immediately," the guard in front of him sneered.
This did not do anything except ignite the anger in Wukong, something that many knew not to do. Even the maiden was shivering in fear at the sight of his furious gaze that looked up at the man.
His hands clenched into fists as his body shook with rage. He wasn't even given a decent position, he wasn't given something fitting of his stature hell, he wasn't even on the same level as Azure and he was just a warrior! He wasn't a king like himself, he was a warrior who patrolled in the mortal plane!
How dare they! How dare they! His teeth gritted together when the man before him clapped his hands. "Chop, chop."
In the next moment a fist collided with the man's face. The maiden behind the guard screamed as he dropped to the ground. Wukong growled, ready to rip the guard apart with his claws until a hand wrapped around his wrist.
"My King enough," Macaque growled, having finally come out of his shadow.
Wukong tilted his head to look at his Moon with enraged eyes, "What?"
"A demon!" The maiden all but screamed before running away causing the Shadow demon to sigh in deep annoyance.
His dark purple eyes glowed as shadows warped around him, midnight black fur covered his body shimmering slightly where he stood. His six ears were fanned out the red, purple and blue colors slightly glowing as they listened for any real threats. His tail slowly swaying behind him even through his annoyance.
"Wukong you were supposed to remain calm, we had a plan," Macaque, the Shadow of the Monkey King hissed angrily as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
Wukong growled back angrily, calm... calm!? How the hell was he supposed to remain calm after this!? Fuck the plan! He was not going to be humiliated like this! Snarling he turned on his heel and began to stalk away, his shadow right behind him.
"Wukong, Wukong! What are you doing!?" Macaque yelled when he noticed they were heading towards a group of guards. Immediately he knew that this spelled trouble, trouble that they were trying to stay out of.
Wukong stepped closer having yet being noticed it didn't cause any commotion when he suddenly fell through the ground. He couldn't scream now even if he did the shadows swallowed up all of his sound to everyone except for..
"MACAQUE! What the hell!" Wukong raged in the darkness.
Of course he wasn’t met with an immediate response, his mate waited for a while before he calmed himself down. How was he supposed to calm down!? They took him for some fool! He threw a punch forward but in the darkness it did nothing, he knew it wouldn’t do anything but still yelled out anyways.
“Wukong, you are the one who wanted to do this. You are the one who wanted to get into heaven, now you need to calm down. You are going to get us into trouble before we can even do anything,” Macaque snapped at him, his violet eyes glowing in the darkness as he showed himself to his mate.
Wukong growled at his mate, but didn’t say anything. He knew that the plan was sensitive, relying on him staying in the celestial realm without causing any trouble while Macaque gathered enough information. Information on how to become more immortal and how to defeat these damned celestials.
A pout formed on Wukong’s face, he wanted to tear them apart. But he was calming down as his mate wrapped his arms around him for a cuddle. Macaque’s warmth was welcoming and calming. It was also one of the only things that could calm the raging king down aside from taking his anger out on everyone else.
“Wukong,” Macaque purred causing a shiver to run up Wukong’s spine.
Eyes flickered to look at Macaque who started to comb through his King’s fur. “Fine, I won’t kill them… yet.”
“Exactly, we can kill them after we launch the attack,” Macaque nodded in approval to Wukong’s now calm expression.
With the now calm king, Macaque pushed him gently out of the shadow so that he was standing back in the stables. Of course the sight of the horses caused the king’s anger go begin resurfacing. It was fine, he took a breath. His claws dug into his palms as he sat down to calm himself down.
His peace didn’t last long before the stable doors were flung open. He turned his head and his eye twitched when he saw a furious soldier.
“Well, well what do we have here?” Wukong asked, jumping up to his feet, his tail swaying lazily behind him.
“What do we- you attacked a guard! No one in the celestial realm would ever do something so stupid! You are to come before the Emperor now!” He all but shouted angrily.
Wukong stared back at the man with boredom. So much for the plan, in fact so much for staying calm. His boredom turned into a look of rage that seemed to pulse through his body rather quickly.
“Oh fuck it,” Macaque rolled his eyes when he saw his king tense for battle.
In a matter of moments Wukong had punched the solider out of the stables. He was ready to fight, several more guards jumped at him but were insultingly easy to dodge out of the way of. With wicked glee he easily knocked each solider down, ready to end them before leaving. However then Macaque grabbed his wrist.
“What now?” Wukong whined, stomping his foot.
“There are more coming. Let’s go home,” he explained.
“More? So what?” Wukong asked with a grin forming in his face.
Macaque needed to get his mate out of here. Knocking out these soldiers was bad enough, and there were many more coming. He should have just told Azure to do the scouting, his mate has too much of a temper problem.
Not to mention when he hit the guards one of them dropped their weapon. A weapon with the ability to produce flames that were rapidly expanding. He was not going to deal with fire, not today.
“Let’s go. Please,” Macaque asked, curling his tail around his mate’s leg as he tugged him away.
Hearing his mate’s plea he finally relented. Rolling his eyes slightly he summoned his nimbus, and pulled Macaque up onto it with him. In an instant they were breaking through the clouds back to their home on Flower Fruit Mountain.
The island was as warm and welcoming as the day they had left it. The island was full of lush forests, tall mountains, long rivers and an abundance of resources. All for Wukong and HIS troop, no one else could even step foot onto the land without being absolutely destroyed. Excitedly Wukong jumped off of his cloud, before he was bombarded with the many monkeys and monkey demons of his troop.
“King! King! Your back!” They called out excitedly.
Wukong soaked in the attention with pride as he grabbed his mate’s hand and pulled him along. As they entered the forest more, there were more hoots and hollers about the king’s return. The arrived at the water curtain cave and watched the waterfall break open to allow them through.
“My King! How was your trip?” The one who asked was Marshel Ma, one of the more talkative of the four generals they had.
However at the mention of his trip, Wukong’s face immediately soured. He let out a low growl before storming off to his room, leaving the troop to wonder what happened in confusion. The generals looked to Macaque who let our a deep and slightly annoyed sigh.
“Let him sulk. They had granted him the lowest possible station and now he doesn’t want to return,” Macaque explained and his words were followed by Wukong’s shout.
“I AM THE GREAT SAGE EQUAL TO HEAVEN! They should bow before me!” He hollered, clearly still sulking to himself.
The Monkeys all looked between each other before shrugging. If he wished to be called The Great Sage Equal To Heaven then let him. Unfortunately, heaven didn’t seem to want to think the same way.
>>><<<
The Celestial Realm was in an uproar due to the Monkey King’s actions. Phoenix was immediately pulled away to Guan Yin before Moksha rushed to help put out the fire that didn’t seem to want to go out. Everyone was in a frenzy.
“What do we do?” Phoenix asked, her heart pounding in her chest loudly.
“Stay out of the way,” Guan Yin responded calmly.
Phoenix didn’t know what to do, she knew she should listen but… the thought of someone getting hurt because of this was horrible. She clenched her fists as she was lead further away from the chaos before Guan Yin settled her with some other fretting maidens.
“Did you hear what happened?”
“The baiwen caused such a commotion.”
“A demon wrecked the stables.”
“I’m not surprised, a demon is a demon.”
Phoenix frowned not a single maiden seemed surprised by Sun Wukong’s actions. While it was true that she wasn’t surprised either, she had a reason she wasn’t surprised. She knew the basics of how the story goes. It had solidified in her mind that she was in The Journey To The West when he left the celestial realm. The thought that she was in this story terrified her, but she was sure that she would be gone before anything too terrible happened. At least she hoped she’d be gone. Even so, the way that the maidens spoke didn’t sit well with her at all.
“Sun Wukong is powerful, he is a king to his people and all he was granted was the lowest possible rank in the Celestial Realm. Yet all of you act as though he is out of line completely. Sure he should have been for more calm, but he isn’t the one who asked for the position in the first place. He was basically given a slap in the face,” Phoenix calmly said staring at the table, before looking up to see that every single maiden was staring at her with eyes wide and full of shock.
Phoenix for her own part just stared back with a look of disappointment in all of them. Every word she said was true, they had practically slapped him in the face but it was also true that he let his anger get the best of him. With a stern gaze at the maidens she was surprised when one of them walked up to her.
The woman was elegant to say the least, with dark black eyes, long black hair that was twisted on her head in a braid adorned with flowers. She wore a dark red and gold hanfu and in her hand was a large red and gold fan. Phoenix’s eyes widened when she realized who this was, Princess Iron Fan. But- She wasn’t a celestial in the story… was she?
“You have quite the mouth,” She said calmly, her eyes narrowing ever so slightly.
Phoenix stared at her for a moment in silence, looking the woman over trying to figure out if she was truly who she thought she was. “I’m sorry, but I’m not lying.”
“You aren’t, but that is no reason to speak so brazenly,” Even though her words were slightly harsh, it was clear that she didn’t really mean them, her voice was almost sarcastic.
The group of maidens behind her immediately began to gossip again, albeit much quieter this time. Whispering about the new vulgar maiden. Phoenix glanced up at Guan Yin who remained silently watching the chatter. It sparked a flame within her, when her eyes met the goddess’s she frowned.
“And yet everyone in this room has spoken nothing but biased insults and mockery. Most without the knowledge of who they are talking about. Sure they may have heard of The Monkey King but how many of you can honestly say that you have spoken with him?” She responded in kind, a thick layer of determination on her tongue.
Several maidens gasped at her words, others flushed while a few looked at her with small smiles. Of course they weren’t the majority for most were heavily insulted by Phoenix’s words. It looked as if a few were about to speak when Princess Iron Fan spoke up one again.
“You are interesting. I’ll give you that,” She stated before turning around and walking away gracefully not admitting defeat but also not claiming that she won.
Phoenix was surprised at how fast she left, when her eyes caught a glint of gold on her. Was that… The Demon Bull King crest? It would make sense, they were married in the original story. Deep in her thoughts she didn’t notice a guard come in until he was speaking.
“Guan Yin, everyone is trying to get Sun Wukong back to the heavens for his punishment. We were hoping for some help,” He said with a bow as he nervously looked at the merciful goddess.
“Of course, Phoenix come with me,” Phoenix immediately stood up and followed the woman without speaking.
She was curious as to what they were planning to do, but deep down she was pretty sure she knew what was going to happen. He was going to return after being granted the title he complained for, and they would assign him to guard the Immortal Peaches. The thought of being immortal, of wishing to out live everyone you loved and cared for settled a bad feeling in her gut. A feeling that she quickly pushed away.
The duo left to the Jade Emperor’s courtroom. The room was far bigger and grander than she could have imagined. It made her feel so small, and so- weak.
The courtroom was filled with a few generals, gods, and only a few goddesses. However the person that demanded the most attention from everyone around him was none other than the Jade Emperor himself. Phoenix made sure she stood behind Guan Yin to stay out of everyone else’s sight and mind. While also trying to listen to every conversation that was going on around her.
“We need to kill that monkey!” One god yelled angrily.
Another shouted back, “We need to capture him!”
The room was full of nothing except raging gods who all seemed to think they had the best idea. For all of the ones that were yelling there were several in the back not speaking as they actually thought before speaking. It was strange, she wasn’t sure why but Phoenix actually thought that there would be more that were acting on impulse instead of thinking rationally.
“If I may speak,” Everyone seemed to go silent as The Jade Emperor was addressed, the giant turning to look down at a golden haired man spoke. “I have another idea.”

Wukong let out a cackle as a spear clashed with his staff. He immediately threw the celestial into a mountain, felling several trees. His ruthless smile didn’t faulter as he knocked out immortal after immortal. For any that tried to attack him from behind were immediately pulled into the shadows only there screams being heard before they appeared half dead on the other side of the island.
“SUN WUKONG!” The voice bellowed throughout the valley the battle was taking place in, a valley decorated in blood.
“OOHHOO! What do we have here?” Wukong cackled again as he looked up at the gods around him that were fleeing in fear.
Deep golden eyes stared up at the god who was standing on a cloud. The Gold Star of Venus, the very one who told him of the position he had received as the Bimawen. This is one of the gods who tricked him. Anger bubbled up in his gut as he clenched his staff even tighter. He was about to attack when he was pulled slightly back.
He barely turned to notice his shadow standing next to him, tail slowly swaying as he stared up at the god. There was no move to attack, instead he was watching. Deep purple eyes stared up at The Gold Star of Venus as he lowered to the ground slowly.
“Wait till we find out what he wants,” Macaque muttered barely enough for Wukong to hear, getting a gruff sigh from him.
“Sun Wukong, The Jade Emperor has decided to grant you the title you asked for,” He spoke almost proudly, but all he got was narrowed eyes in response.
Wukong was already pissed, and at this point all he wanted to do was slaughter the ones who dared to make a fool out of him. He growled lowly before gripping his staff tighter, all he had to do was bash this guys head and he wouldn’t have to listen to their mockery anymore. However before he could a hand settled on his shoulder causing him to glance at Macaque.
He gave an ever so slight nod signaling for him to at least listen to what this golden idiot had to offer him, though he was sure that it wouldn’t be anything that would lift his spirits. With a low growl he lowered himself from his cloud until he was standing on the ground in front of the immortal. The Golden Star of Venus cautiously came forward until he stood directly in front of the two monkey demons.
He knew that his every move was being watched, not just by the two in front of him but also by the thousands that surrounded them. The battle which was once raging went silent staring at what looked to be peace negotiations. A large table was summoned from the shadows, it was the only thing that separated the two groups. Two other immortals had gone to the Golden Star’s sides in case the monkey demons would attack.
“Speak,” Wukong growled harshly, his eyes on the ones who dared to make a fool of him.
The Golden Star waisted no time before he began speaking to the Monkey King, “Of course. The Jade Emperor is willing to accept the title that you have given yourself. With that title you will once again be allowed into the celestial realm and there will be no more need to fight against each other.”
Wukong clicked his teeth and glanced over to his mate who was silently watching the group in front of them. His six ears fluttered out while listening for any signs of deceit or ambush. When nothing came he glanced back at his king and nodded.
Immediately Wukong’s eyes widened at his action. For someone else they may not have even noticed it but for the one who stood by his side through thick and thin, life and death of course Wukong knew what his mate meant. He was telling him to accept! His mate wanted him to accept this!? His mate who was so opposed to the idea of him merely being the Bimawen!? With a scowl he looked up at the smiling god who appeared to be getting more and more nervous.
Rightfully so as Wukong was standing there with teeth bared, vibrant firey golden eyes and his staff in hand. Looking up at the taller god he let out a low growl.
“Of course my mate accepts,” Macaque spoke up before Wukong could pounce.
Whirling his head around he stared at Macaque with a shocked expression. He was accepting on his behalf!? Why the hell was he being so compliant after everything! Growling lowly he looked at him mate with anger before directing that scowl straight at the god.
“Wukong, calm yourself. This is our key to get back into heaven so you can get your peaches. Unless you changed your mind,” Macaque’s words were almost silent as he leaned against the King’s ear, his lips brushing against it.
Wukong went silent, he did want those peaches. He wanted more immortality, not just from the diyu. He could make the heavens pay for the humiliation they put upon him. He took a deep breath before releasing it, a powerful wind sweeping the ground before he turned to look at the battle that seemed to seize around him.
“Put your weapons down!” He shouted and immediately all of his subjects hollered before practically disappearing into the woods.
Macaque will have to speak with his generals and explain why all of this is happening. The thought of it angered him, all he wanted to do was rip this golden idiot to shreds.
“Excellent, you will be able to go to and from the celestial realm as you please and-“ Macaque cut him off calmly.
“Of course there is a catch,” the wind was almost still, everything seemed to stop as the shadow monkey made his ‘request.’
>>><<<
“Oh my mate! I love you, I love you!” Wukong grinned as they reentered Water-curtain Cave.
Of course Macaque would make something good out of this horrid experience. Before when he went to the Celestial Realm they tried to make him leave his beloved mate behind but this time. ‘As the Mate of The Great Sage Equal To Heaven, I will be joining him back up the the Celestial Realm.’ They were so desperate to stop the fighting that it barely took those words before they agreed to the Shadow’s demand.
Macaque glanced at Wukong with a smirk before rolling his eyes as if he was stating the obvious. A smirk graced his lips but he didn’t speak what was on his mind. A way to get the peaches of immortality, it was right in front of them. And if he was being honest with himself, he knew that Wukong wasn’t the only one who wanted that power. A power to stay alive even more than they already were.
He shook the greed away as they arrived at the large banquet table within the safety of The Stone Palace. They were going to leave tomorrow and planned to make the most of the day that they had left in their home.
“Mihou~ You’re spacing away from me,” Wukong purred suddenly with his arms wrapped around the slightly taller monkey’s waist.
Turning his head to look at his mate Macaque rolled his eyes and nuzzled his face into Wukong’s with a grin. They were going to get all they wanted and more all in just a few days, once they finalized their plans. Now all they had to do was keep an eye on the Celestial Realm which would be more than easy from within their walls. They just needed to make sure that everything went according to their plan, nothing could get in their way.
He wasn’t sure why but the image of black eyes and dark brown hair flashed through his vision. What was he thinking, there was no way for some low powered celestial to get in their way. Pushing the thought of that strange woman from his head he took his mate’s hand and grinned.
“My apologies my love, I was just thinking of the future is all,” He chuckled lightly.
“Well no more of that, let’s focus on the here and now. And the me!” Wukong laughed as he sat down next to the rest of his generals.
They were all cheering and all more than excited about the future. A future where they would rule and where they wouldn’t have to bow down to anyone other than their king and his warrior. There was nothing that would get in the way, nothing that would take away this for them.
“Of course my King, My Great Sage Equal To The Heavens. Nothing can stop us now,” Macaque grinned knowing that his mate was the strongest in the realm and he wouldn’t fall to anyone.
Sorry for the technically late update. I hope you all enjoy the chapter though. Please like and comment. I love hearing feedback from anyone, it is awesome to hear people’s thoughts.

From Liyue With Love
Pairing: Beidou x Ningguang
Tags: Birthday, Valentine's Day, Birthday Sex, Presents, Scissoring, Oral Sex, Vaginal Fingering
Summary:
Beidou has always been more partial to Valentine's Day than the other event that happens to fall on the same date. Ningguang wants to change that. In the end, they discover they've both got the best gifts either of them could hope for.
Read on Ao3
The chain of the gold necklace shimmered as Beidou held it up to the light of the mid-day Liyue sun. She’d stopped at Mingxing Jewelry to pick up the Valentine’s Day gift she had special ordered for the Tianquan who held her heart. Over the years she had imported many ores and gems one could only find from the furthest reaches of Sumeru to the deepest seas of Fontaine just for Xingxi’s store.
“Is it to your liking, captain? I admit, I took a few liberties with the instructions you left me,” Xingxi stated hesitantly.
Beidou ran her thumb across the small heart-shaped pendant, the cold stones chilling her skin. The two halves glistened in their respective signature colors - amethyst for her electro, citrine for Ningguang’s geo.
“It’s perfect,” she whispered. “Thanks, Xingxi! Knew I could count on you.”
The shopkeeper smiled gently. “I’m so happy to hear it.”
Beidou plopped a sizable sack of mora on the counter but was taken aback when Xingxi pushed it toward her.
“Captain, I appreciate that you think so highly of my handiwork, but I fear this is far too much. Half of that is more than enough. Consider it a birthday discount,” she replied with a wink.
She blinked, unsure of how to respond. If she didn’t have Ningguang in her life, today would be like any other. Commemorating Valentine’s Day was fun for many reasons. Beidou relished any chance she could get to show the Tianquan what she meant to her. The other yearly occurrence that happened to be on the same day…she had never seen a reason to celebrate.
Beidou swallowed back the dark emotions that threatened to burst forth. “Gee… thanks, Xingxi. Wait a second…how did you know it was my-“
The shopkeeper let out a chuckle. “Captain…how could I not? It’s all Lady Ningguang has been talking about for days.”
With a blush spreading across her face, Beidou nodded her head in gratitude and started the lengthy trek to the Jade Chamber.
“Captain Beidou! It’s so nice to see you here,” Baishi said suspiciously loud. She had greeted her right before the doors to Ningguang’s office, which Beidou found unusual.
“Uh, yeah, you too, Baishi. Is the Tianquan in?”
The secretary looked nervously over her shoulder. “Um…she’s a little-“ A loud crash came from the other side of the door, and Beidou looked ready to rush in.
“Ning? Are you okay in there?”
A swirl of platinum blonde hair appeared in the doorway. “Yes, captain, everything is quite alright. If you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some…business to wrap up. It’ll only be a few minutes.”
Beidou cocked an eyebrow. “You sure you’re good?”
Ningguang stared daggers at her. “Do you mean to insinuate I don’t know what I’m doing, captain?”
She held up her hands in defense. “Not at all. Continue,” she said with a smug smirk.
After passing the time chatting with Baishi, Beidou was relieved to hear Ningguang’s voice echo through the double doors once more.
“You may enter now. Baishi, please let Baiwen and Baixiao know you are all free to go home for the evening.” After a quick “goodnight,” the woman left to find her coworkers.
Beidou swiftly entered the room and was caught completely off guard by the sight before her. Ningguang had donned a dark blue strapless dress that sparkled like moonlight on the ocean’s surface.
A quiet “wow” was the most she could manage. Her attention was quickly directed to the table behind her, however. It had been set for dinner, complete with a tall glass of Beidou’s favorite lager imported from Inazuma. The scent of flash-fried filet, her favorite dish, wafted through the room, making her stomach growl.
“Baobei…did you…did you cook all this?”
Ningguang glided over to her side. “I may have asked Chef Mao’s girl to walk me through some things, but yes,” she answered as she took Beidou’s hand in hers. “Happy birthday, my love.”
Beidou felt the room spin around her. The weight of such careful planning hit her in full force.
“What’s wrong? Is it not to your liking?”
She hadn’t realized tears had started to drip down her cheeks.
“No! Archons…no. I love it. It’s just…I’m not used to this. I’ve always associated my birthday with wishing I hadn’t been born.”
Ningguang’s grip on her hand tightened. “How could you say that, Beidou?”
The captain wiped her face with the back of her hand. “I mean…Valentine’s Day is much more important, don’t ya think? I’d rather celebrate love than a curse like me.”
A look of intense sorrow came over Ningguang. She leaned her forehead on Beidou’s, forcing her to make eye contact. “You are not a curse, dear heart. Those villagers were ignoramuses who believed in mumbo-jumbo bullshit. Please. Let’s celebrate you tonight, hmm? I can think of no one more deserving,” she said as she took her by the hand and led her to the table.
“Well, one thing’s for sure. I’m not about to let this go to waste. Thank you so much, baobei.”
Ningguang smiled at the return of her signature sense of humor. The women sat down and thoroughly enjoyed every last bite as they chatted about their respective weeks.
“Whew. I couldn’t eat another bite! My compliments to the chef. You sure you don’t want to join my crew and cook for all of us?”
Slightly buzzed on her own glass or three of wine, Ningguang let out a hearty laugh. “Oh please. It was one dish! But I’m glad you enjoyed it.”
Chugging the rest of her beer, Beidou let out a satisfied sigh. “Shame there’s no dessert, though. Could really go for something sweet after this.” She shifted her hooded gaze to lock eyes with the Tianquan. Ningguang had been with her long enough to recognize this was a different kind of hunger.
“Who said I didn’t have something prepared for your sweet tooth?” She replied seductively as she got up to get closer to her. “Did you honestly think this was all I got you?” Ningguang hiked her dress up as she positioned herself to straddle her lover’s lap. Beidou’s eyes drifted to the garter straps peeking out from under the fabric and had to control herself from ripping them off with her teeth.
“You mean there’s a feast after the feast?” She asked, lips already wandering across her chest and up her neck.
“Hmmm…it’s prepared. You just have to devour it,” Ningguang half-moaned.
“Then don’t mind if I do,” Beidou said as she grabbed the back of her thighs and lifted her effortlessly. Their mouths locked as the Tianquan wrapped her arms around her neck for support. The captain knew the way to the private sleeping quarters of Ningguang’s office like the back of her hand and carefully navigated around the stacks of scrolls that always seemed to inevitably accumulate.
Once she made it to the bed, she set her down and crawled on top of her, continuing to show her gratitude by attending to every inch of her body. Her dress was far too beautiful to remove, so she worked around whatever skin was left uncovered.
She was delectable in so many ways, and Beidou couldn’t help but repay her kindness in the only way she knew would come close. As she situated herself between her thighs, she shifted the fabric of her dress up to her hips to provide her with enough access.
Ningguang could only let out contented sighs and groans as the captain took her time savoring and teasing her. Beidou kissed her inner thigh, causing her to spread herself wider in anticipation. Whether this was a gift for Beidou or Ningguang, neither of them cared. They were lost in each other. Finally, the captain moved the crotch of the Tianquan’s panties to the side and tasted the unique but familiar flavor of her arousal.
“Archons…Beidou, your tongue feels so good…”
“Louder for me, baby. Let me hear how good I make you feel,” she commanded before swiveling it inside of her. The buck of Ningguang’s hips drove her deeper and caused her to moan. She held them down as she continued the practiced movements she knew would make her come undone. Desperate for connection, the Tianquan covered Beidou’s hands with her own.
“Fuck…Beidou…yessssss…” Between the captain’s muffled grunts and her own mewls of pleasure, Ningguang came with a shudder.
Beidou plopped onto her side next to where Ningguang lay on the bed dizzy on alcohol and her orgasm. The Tianquan rolled to face her and softly stroked the captain’s face with her well-manicured fingers.
“Well, that was just lovely. But I do believe I need to exchange a gift of my own. For without you being born today, I would not have a love worth celebrating. The archons gave me my heart on the most romantic day of the year.” Ningguang leaned in and kissed her with a passion unmatched.
The Tianquan tasted the salty tang of Beidou’s tears. To this day the captain still wasn’t used to this poetic tenderness. Sure, she and Ningguang had been together for a while, but she wasn’t usually this romantic. Beidou placed her hands on her waist and pulled her closer.
Their tongues clashed as hands roamed, divesting one another of any remaining clothing until their body heat was the only thing keeping them warm. Ningguang grabbed Beidou’s leg and placed it on her hip as she moved her hand between the two of them to her drenched core.
“What you lack in words your body certainly makes up for,” she teased as she ran her thumb across Beidou’s clit. The captain jolted in response to the stimulation.
“Ning…” She quietly breathed into her ear sending goosebumps down the Tianquan’s spine.
Collecting her arousal, she easily inserted two fingers into her. Moving them in and out, she slowly stroked her thumb across her sensitive bud in time with her movements. She continued her ministrations as she kissed down Beidou’s neck and across her chest. The captain’s flushed face and high-pitched moaning of her name alerted her she was close. Ningguang sped up her thrusts and crashed her mouth against her lover’s as she spasmed around her.
The two women held each other tightly reveling in the happiness and love they shared.
“Oh! Before I forget…” Beidou quickly hopped off the bed to fish around in the pocket of the bag she had brought with her. Producing a small wooden box, she placed it in Ningguang’s outstretched hand. “Happy Valentine’s Day, baobei. A treasure for my treasure.”
Ningguang rolled her eyes endearingly at the terrible pun. Turning her gaze back toward what she now held in her palm, she pried it open and gasped when she saw the contents.
“B-Beidou…this…this is gorgeous!” She gasped. Instinctively she turned around and pulled her hair back so the captain could do the honors. The necklace was surprisingly light considering the weight of the emotion it held. “I love it and will cherish it forever,” she exclaimed as she took her face in her hands. “Just like you.”
Beidou beamed at her girlfriend’s excitement. “I’m glad. I only brought Xingxi the materials. She was the one who worked her magic.”
Ningguang whipped around to her side table and immediately pulled out her own gift. Beidou couldn’t help but giggle at the ornate packaging that was so very…Ningguang.
“Now, you’ll have to let me know if this isn’t to your tastes. It’s nowhere near as ornate as what you’ve gifted me, but I hope you’ll still enjoy it,” she warned as Beidou began to carefully pull the paper away. Soon, it was revealed to be a beautiful photo album. Pictures of memorable moments decorated each page.
Beidou standing by the Alcor, newly purchased with help from Ningguang. Their first lantern rite together. The time Beidou took Ningguang on a trip to Inazuma to meet the sly fox of a light novel publisher she knew she’d want to do business with. A snapshot of the both of them deep in thought pondering over a chessboard. The rest of the photos started to blur through eyes glistening once again with unshed tears.
“I had that lovely little photographer from The Steambird help me restore some of the old photographs I had lying around. I figured it might help if you had something to look at when you were away on longer voyages.”
“Ning…I don’t have words. This is…this is incredible. And perfect. Just like you.”
The Tianquan smiled mischievously. “And…you haven’t gotten to the end yet. Go ahead and turn a few more pages,” she teased. Beidou did as she was told and was greeted by insanely risqué shots of Ningguang in barely-there lingerie…as well as some with her in nothing at all. She snapped the album shut quickly, her face turning red.
“Holy shit. I’m going to need to go another round after that.”
Beidou crawled on her hands and knees toward Ningguang, grabbing her hips and pulling her closer. She wrapped her legs around Beidou’s waist, their mouths clashing once again.
Their cores aligned, they were both reduced to a moaning mess as their bodies shook with need for one another.
“Baobei,” Beidou groaned between kisses, “You’re the…best gift…I could ever hope to…receive.”
The Tianquan wrapped her arms around her, yanking her closer for added pressure. Beidou moved her hips in time with Ningguang’s, their now over-stimulated buds sliding against one another ferociously.
The sound of ragged breathing, sighs of pleasure, and the gentle rattle of a necklace chain swirled in a symphony throughout the room. The captain slid a hand between them, adding additional sensation to Ningguang’s clit.
“Come with me, love,” Beidou whispered as she held her tightly. The two women once again found release, their movements slowing as their orgasms came to a dull throb.
Ningguang clasped the pendant she now wore around her neck. “Beidou, you’ll have to tell me - what does it feel like to be the richest woman in Teyvat?”
Beidou propped herself up on her elbow as she cocked a curious eyebrow at the woman she loved. “Why, Lady Tianquan…whatever do you mean?”
“Mora is easy to come by. But you own something truly priceless - my heart.”
“Now that,” Beidou said as she placed a kiss on her forehead, “is the best birthday gift I will ever receive.”

Triad: Part 1 (Ninguang X Beidou X Reader)
Tumblr media
Alternative Title: Ninguang uses her godly Rizz to get you and Beidou to work together, a saga
(Yes I'm alive, I’m just having trouble getting through my asks, and I just needed something else to do, sue me.)
Warnings: Language, Fighting, Implied Sexual Content (Not Really Though)
Word Count: 1,535
Time to Write: Three Hours
Ningguang, Tinquan of Liyue, owner of a Geo Vision and a woman with a will thirty times stronger than any iron, a tongue as sharp as any blade, and an eye for business and numbers only surpassed by that of Rex Lapis.
She was currently pacing a hole through the floor of the Jade Chamber outside a locked room while her closest friends and confidants stiffly watched her, unsure of what to do in this current situation.
Could she really call Kequing, Ganyu, Yelan, Baixiao, Baiwen, and Baishi her closest friends and confidants when they were all under her employ? That’s a question for another time, a less uncertain time.
After all, you never wrote up what to do in the case of your being so severely injured to the point that you were unable to stand by Ningguang’s side.
-=-=-=-=--==-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The first time Ningguang and you met, she was a little less than twelve years old, and she was about to get her face punched in by another group of kids who were also trying to sell their food at the market to make a little mora.
As the largest of them, and the one Ningguang assumed to be their leader pulled back her fist to throw the first punch Ningguang braced herself to be sent flying but before the largest one threw the punch a voice called out “HEY BEIDOU!!! THINK FAST!!!” as a fist slammed into the side of the largest one’s face sending her flying instead.
“YOU!!!” The largest one, apparently named Beidou shouted in a mix of furious rage and ecstatic joy as she spat out a tooth.
“ME!!!” you responded with a toothy grin as your own group of kids quickly showed up behind you.
“It seems those two are going back at it again huh?” one of the older men running a stall asked while shaking his head with a smile.
“What’s the score again, something like 30 wins to each of them and 24 draws?” another man asked.
“Yup, the score is even right now, doubt it’ll stay that way though!” another laughed.
“What do you say to the usual stakes Beidou? The loser has to buy the other dinner.” You asked as you cracked your neck.
“Heh, why not!” Beidou laughed as she shook off the punch and cracked her knuckles.
-=-=-=-=--==-=-=-=-=-=-=-
You and Beidou wailed on each other for a good thirty minutes, in the end it came out as another draw.
However what made this all the more interesting to Ningguang aside from what seemed to be the pre-teen equivalant of a friendly gang war was that You, Beidou, and her all had something in common, the fact that each of you had the potential to obtain one of the worlds most treasured artifacts, a Vision, Ningguang didn’t know what made her think this, call it women's intuition, a business hunch, or whatever else you wanted to, but she knew that you, Beidou, and her were special, and if she get your groups to work together, well the mora practically minted itself.
Now if only she could get You and Beidou to stop beating the Celestia out of each other every time you were in the same room.
But for that Ningguang would need a little group of her own.
Luckily she had some strings she could pull to get one on short notice.
-=-=-=-=--==-=-=-=-=-=-=-
One week later Beidou and her group were staring down you and yours as Ningguang stood between you with the group she had managed to pull together on short notice Kequing who she had blackmail on where the majority of her allowance was going (So many Rex Lapis plushies), Yelan, who owed her for getting her out of more than a few tight spots, Baixiao, Baiwen, and Baishi, who were the cousins of your right hand man, Qiqi in case things got violent and little Hu Tao who always followed Qiqi around.
“Now then, I have a business proposition for each of you.” Ningguang said with ease that was most definitely not practiced in the mirror.
“Who the hell are you!” Beidou shouted, causing you to sigh.
“She’s that girl you were harassing last week, y’know the one that you called p-” you said before Beidou interrupted you.
“I KNOW WHO SHE IS I WAS JUST TRYING TO BE UH WHAT’S THE WORD, IT BEGINS WITH AN “I” Beidou shouted as she tried to find the word she was looking for.
“Intimidating?” Ningguang offered.
“YEAH INTIMIDATING!!! THAT’S IT!!! THANKS UH NINGUANG WAS IT? IMMA JUST CALL YOU NING!!!” Beidou shouted.
“Hey, Beidou, think you can turn off the caps lock? You’re giving me a headache!” You exclaimed as you tapped your foot on the ground.
“I’LL GIVE YA A HEADACHE WITH MY FIST JACKASS!!!!” Beidou shouted.
Ningguang let out a long suffering sigh, this was going to be much harder than she thought it would be wouldn’t it.
-=-=-=-=--==-=-=-=-=-=-=-
“So, let me get this straight, you want me and my group, your group and Beidou’s group to work together, correct?” you asked Ningguang as you took a bite out of the powdered sugar rolls provided by Little Hu Tao.
“Yes, with my brains, Beidou’s manpower, and your brawn and skill, we’d be able to achieve our respective goals around 70 to 100 times faster if my rough estimates were correct.” Nigguang stated as she held Qiqi in her lap.
“Hmm I’ll admit it’s as good a deal as me and them will probably ever get, but what’s the catch? This is one of those deals that sound too good to be true y’know.” Beidou asked while taking a piece of cooked fish from one of the bowls with her chopsticks.
“You two have to play nice in public, that means no more fighting in the market.” Ningguang told the two.
“But anywhere else is fine?” you asked.
“Within reason of course, as long as it’s outside the purview of the public eye you could beat each other to bloody pulps for all I care.” Ningguang said with a shrug.
-=-=-=-=--==-=-=-=-=-=-=-
From there the three of you skyrocketed in the market of Liyue, Ningguang’s brains allowed the operations the three of you used to run individually to explode in size and quality.
Beidou’s manpower and charisma made sure that there were plenty of people that could work on the operations day and night if needed.
And finally your muscle made sure that anyone who tried to cross the triad the three of you made didn’t do so without consequence.
By the time each of you were eighteen the amount of mora between each of you individually would’ve been enough to fund a voyage around the world thrice over.
Eventually Ningguang told the three of you that she was preparing to enter into the next stage of her goal, the politics of Liyue.
It was on this night that Ninguang received her Vision.
Coincidentally it was also on this night that Beidou managed to smuggle some Sake from Inazuma and talked (Read: Forced) Ningguang into trying it.
This led to quite the night filled with you chewing out Beidou and chasing a drunk Nigguang all over Liyue at night.

“Beidou I swear to the Archons that if Boss Lady got into some sort of trouble that not even Rex Lapis himself will be able to help your ass!” you cursed to your friend as you pushed your way through the nightlife crowds of Liyue.
“Hey how was I supposed to know she was lightweight!” Beidou defended herself.
“WE ARE UNDER DRINKING AGE FOR ARCHONS SAKES!!! YOU WOULD ASSUME THAT ON PRINCIPAL!!!” You shouted.
“HEYY GUYSH WHERSE YALL BEEN!!!” a voice shouted to you through the crowds.
“Oh thank the gods!” You exclaimed as you spotted Ninguang through the crowd before noticing the new addition on her thigh.
“Beidou you better start fucking running as soon as we get her back to her home.” You told Beidou through gritted teeth.
Why- Oh, oh shit. Well if you don’t kill me she will. I’m not sure which one would be better.” Beidou stated as every single drop of blood drained from her face when she saw the new tattoo on Ningguang’s thigh.
-=-=-=-=--==-=-=-=-=-=-=-
“Oh Archons my head!” Ningguang groaned as she opened her eyes and tried to grab her head.
Keyword tried as there was a weight on each of her arms keeping her from lifting them.
When Ningguang turned her head to see what was holding her down, Ningguang turned blood red.
On her left was the sleeping Beidou in not but her underwear with a dopey smile as she used Ningguang’s rather large chest as a pillow.
On her right was you, looking completely mortified at the current events even in your sleep while Ningguang’s arm was wrapped around your neck, holding you in place with only the destroyed remains of your clothes on your body.
“Oh Archons, please don’t tell me that I somehow managed to seduce them while I was drunk! I wanted to be sober for that!” Ningguang whispered under her breath, her eye’s wide in shock.

There’d been something panicked in Baiwen’s eyes when she’d come to drag Beidou out of Wanmin Restaurant, refusing to explain until they were rising steadily on the platform to the Jade Chamber. The night air is freezing compared to the warmth of the restaurant, but Beidou doesn’t allow herself to shiver, even as she looks over to see Baiwen’s face looking white and worried in the moonlight.
“Lady Ningguang is ill.” Baiwen says slowly, refusing to look at Beidou while the words fight their way out of her throat, “She demanded someone bring you and then she locked herself in her room.” Something cold and heavy twists in Beidou’s stomach as she listens, her jaw setting as they rise faster and faster into the sky.
She could have been here sooner if Ningguang didn’t insist on hanging in the sky above Liyue.
“When did this start?” It's less of a question and more of a demand of Beidou’s own, her fists clenched at her sides. Her white knuckles would be on display if it weren’t for her gloves. For a long moment, Baiwen says nothing, her eyes focused on nothing straight ahead of them. Beidou doesn’t ask her again, she would ask Ningguang when she got to her.
The platform isn’t perfectly lined up with the Jade Chamber, but waiting for it to align itself perfectly is out of the question, Beidou doesn’t have the time for that. Ningguang doesn’t have time for that. She opens the doors and lets them bang behind her, leaving them wide open for Baiwen who may or may not be following behind her. She doesn’t need Baiwen to show her the way to Ningguang’s room anyway, she’s found her way to it enough times on her own, never mind all the times Ningguang herself has led Beidou right to it, nail guards digging into Beidou’s skin and marking her before she left on another voyage.
She hadn’t intended to knock, but Ningguang’s door is locked against the rest of the Jade Chamber’s inhabitants, “Ningguang, open the door, I’m here.” Beidou is too loud, she knows, even the way she knocks on the door with the side of her fist is too loud, but this time, no one is standing behind her to glare, or in front of her to scold and bite her bottom lip once the door is shut tight behind Beidou’s back. The quietness of the hall stretches and stretches, stilling Beidou’s breath in her chest until it burns and aches from the lack of air.
Her fist is already raised to knock again when Ningguang unlocks the door without opening. She’s already retreated back into the darkness by the time Beidou barges in. The moonlight streaming in through the window makes Ningguang’s hair glow brighter than the mountain peaks of Juyun Karst, but it’s the redness of her face and the glassiness of Ningguang’s eyes that makes Beidou choke on her own tongue.
“Where were you? I needed you.” Ningguang’s voice is weak as she scolds Beidou, trying hard to rely on what she could normally do, but lacking the strength for it, she can’t even push Beidou away as she wraps an arm around her middle while pressing the other hand to her forehead.
The darkness had done as much as it could to conceal Ningguang and her condition, but Beidou walks her over to the window now, pressing Ningguang between herself and the wall to keep her from trying to walk away. Beidou barely registers the soft grunt as it falls from Ningguang’s lips.
Gone are her nail guards and the red tassel that usually rests on her forehead, even her hair pin is missing, leaving her hair loose and eager to fall against her red, too hot cheeks. Gathering Ningguang’s hair up into one hand, Beidou twists it up against the back of her head and Ningguang sighs in relief, her hands pressing against Beidou’s chest before her nails twist into Beidou’s clothes. “Answer me. Where were you?”
Ningguang’s perfume fills Beidou’s lungs, but it’s little comfort. “Baiwen must’ve gone to the ship first, I was at Wanmin Restaurant with the crew.” It’s the truth, and Ningguang doesn’t fight her on it, she only presses her forehead against Beidou’s throat, breathing her in and refusing to loosen her grip. “What happened, Ningguang? I told you, now you tell me.” Despite the roughness of her words, Beidou still presses her lips against the top of Ningguang’s head, her free hand smoothing up and down Ningguang’s back. The silk of Ningguang’s nightgown snags and catches on the rough skin of Beidou’s hand and her calluses, dragging the fabric against Ningguang’s skin and making her flinch and wedge herself further against Beidou.
Carefully, Beidou resettles the nightgown, tugging it down to where it lay over Ningguang’s thighs, only to have Ningguang catch her hand and ruck the nightgown up again. Ningguang’s heart flutters too fast against Beidou’s hand, the fabric draped over her wrist while Ningguang is left bare from her chest to her feet. Beidou tries to pull her hand back, but Ningguang holds her wrist tight. “Some merchants from Fontaine paid a high price for a late dinner with me, two of them tried to keep me distracted, and one slipped something into my drink.” Ningguang had spoken the words against Beidou’s throat, sharp tips of her teeth scraping, but Beidou pulls her out of her hiding place and leans into her, rage staining every part of her, “Did they hurt you?”
“They never laid a finger on me, I never gave them the chance.” Ningguang explains, finally loosening her grip on Beidou’s wrist to frame Beidou’s face with her hands. Relief floods in and Beidou can’t stop herself from turning her face against one of Ningguang’s palms and kissing it as softly as she dares, the soft skin still feeling boiling hot against her lips. “I thought the effects would only last an hour at most, but it’s been getting worse.” Again, Ningguang’s hands slide down to Beidou’s chest, though this time she pulls at the fabric of Beidou’s own clothes, telling Beidou what she wants without saying the words. “I needed you much earlier than this, and you kept me waiting.” The brattiness that Beidou knows creeps back into Ningguang’s voice and settles some of the frayed nerves, but not all of them.
Letting go of Ningguang’s hair, Beidou makes a point of catching her chin and forcing Ningguang to look up at her, “You sure this is what you need?” Beidou thinks about offering to call a doctor, but she knows why she can’t, she knows why Ningguang would never agree to it. Ningguang makes a point of biting the tip of Beidou’s thumb as hard as she can.
“I won’t beg if that’s what you’re asking me to do.” Ningguang says it clearly, running her tongue over the thumb she’d just bitten to tease, “I’ll take care of myself and make you watch before I do that.” They’d played that game before, and Beidou had promptly broken the rules, heedless of any consequences that might’ve come from it.
“I’m not asking you to beg, Ning, I’m gonna make you.” She won’t make Ningguang ask her a third time, that seemed cruel, even for the games they played with each other. Instead, Beidou catches the hem of Ningguang’s nightgown again, though this time she doesn’t bother to pull it down, she pulls it over Ningguang’s head before she tosses it to the side and presses both of her hands against Ningguang’s hips, her thumbs stroking over the soft flesh of her belly. Doing this fast and hard would be the kindest route, Beidou knows that, but she can’t help herself, she’s leaning in and kissing Ningguang as gently as she dares and pulling her away from the wall she’d trapped her against earlier. Walking backwards, Beidou sits Ningguang down first, making her wait while she undresses, her clothes landing in a heap at their feet before Beidou kicks them away and pulls Ningguang up again, only to sit her down on her thigh.
Ningguang won’t be satisfied with it, Beidou knows that, but she still starts a slow pace, dragging Ningguang back and forth over her thigh while she kisses down her throat, over her shoulders, and onto her chest, her hands sliding up from Ningguang’s hips to knead her breasts. Sighs flutter out of Ningguang as she grinds herself, abandoning the pathetic pace Beidou had set up for her before, whining while her eyebrows knit together.
Ningguang holds onto Beidou’s shoulders, nails digging in tighter and tighter while Beidou strokes her thumbs over Ningguang’s nipples, pinching and pulling just to make Ningguang gasp and grind even harder. “You’re already so wet, does my thigh feel that good, Ningguang?” Beidou teases, a grin on her face as she channels electro through her fingertips, sending jolts through Ningguang just to hear her gasp and feel her jerk without the slightest bit of warning. Ningguang drags her nails down the length of Beidou’s back as payback, but it's nothing that either of them aren’t used to, it only makes Beidou groan low in her throat, the current of electro only interrupted for a moment.
The current disappears entirely as Beidou rolls the both of them over, her hands catching Ningguang’s wrists and holding them above her head as well as she can with one hand. “I think I know what Liyue’s Tianquan needs.” Beidou muses to herself as she leans down and kisses Ningguang again, her other hand sliding between the both of them, but her fingers only sink into Ningguang’s heat, two fingers working in and out of her with ease.
Despite herself, Ningguang gasps, her hips bucking up against Beidou’s hand, trying to drive those two fingers deeper when the current of electro starts again, weak, but growing strong enough that Ningguang’s gasp turns into a moan, her legs trying hard to snap shut, only to have Beidou keep them open with her own body. Ningguang tries hard to twist out of Beidou’s grip as she comes hard and fast, clenching around Beidou’s fingers as her thumb presses against her clit, the unforgivable current only growing in strength. Her nails draw blood from Beidou’s shoulders, but the drops of blood running down Beidou’s shoulders and back don’t matter as she cuts the current off completely and makes a show of lifting those same two fingers to her mouth to lick them clean.
“C’mere.” Beidou murmurs, laying her hand over Ningguang’s throat as she kisses her, her tongue sweeping over Ningguang’s bottom lip before it steals inside, their tongues twisting against each other until Beidou feels the lack of air in her lungs begin to ache. The thin thread of saliva connecting them doesn’t last long before Beidou is moving again, sliding off of the bed and then pressing both of her hands against Ningguang’s knees. Both of her shins are kissed, then the tops of her thighs, and then Beidou is spreading her legs apart slowly before she buries her face between her legs.
There’s no current of electro that Ningguang can blame on the way she moans this time. She doesn’t even try to hold them back as the cruel tip of Beidou’s tongue drags over her clit again and again before it turns into the broad flat, her eyes feeling heavier by the second, until Ningguang can’t bear to keep them open any longer.
“Beidou,” Ningguang gasps, her fingers twisting the bedsheets round and round again, until they’re nothing but tangles in her fists, “Beidou don’t tease.” Ningguang’s voice lacks the sternness she’s searching for and Beidou sucks her clit harder as a reward, her hands sliding up to Ningguang’s hips and dragging her closer. Above her, Ningguang swears and twists and turns and Beidou only doubles her efforts, moans of her own thrumming against Ningguang’s heat.
Beidou had promised Ningguang something earlier, that she would make her beg, she hadn’t forgotten yet, even if Ningguang had in the daze of lust and need. The tip of Beidou’s tongue sinks into Ningguang’s wetness and works slow, dragging out every minute movement and motion until Beidou feels Ningguang grab onto her hair and yank it hard, her frustration evident as she tries hard to grind herself against Beidou’s mouth and nose.
“Stop playing around.” Ningguang orders, her voice gone ragged. Beidou moans again just to spite her, her own short nails digging into Ningguang’s thighs, but not raking down like Ningguang had done to her. Beidou had to be careful with the kind of marks she left Ningguang left, even if she grew purposefully sloppy from time to time.
One day the whole of Liyue would know that the rumors were true, that Ningguang belonged to Beidou just as much as Beidou belonged to Ningguang.
Beidou stands up on her knees, bending Ningguang nearly in half as she plunges the rest of her tongue into her love, fucking Ningguang with her tongue and refusing to use anything else until she feels Ningguang clenching around her tongue and more of that warm wetness covering her lips. Even as Ningguang comes, Beidou gives her no peace, sinking her teeth into the back of her thigh, just on the verge of breaking skin, but pulling back at the very last second, three fingers working in and out of Ningguang as quickly or as slowly as Beidou cares.
Beidou doesn’t stop until the gasps and sighs above her stop, until one of Ningguang’s legs slips from her shoulder. Only then does Beidou climb back onto the bed, pulling Ningguang back up with her, her hands pressing against Ningguang’s cheeks and her forehead once she’s settled.
“Fever’s gone.” Beidou says, more to herself than to Ningguang, though her hand still lingers against Ningguang’s cheek, her knuckles stroking the apple of it. A smile, something small, and private, and all for Ningguang crosses Beidou’s face for just a moment before she kisses Ningguang’s forehead and rolls over onto her back, eye closing for just a moment.
She’ll need to be gone before sunrise, that was their rule, but when Beidou tries to roll onto her side and stand up, Ningguang’s arms wrap around her middle and pull her back down. “Stay.” Ningguang orders--begs--softly. Beidou shouldn’t. She knows that she shouldn’t, but Ningguang presses a line of kisses to her shoulders, her lips dipping down to kiss Beidou between her shoulder blades, where her heart would be if Beidou were facing her.
“Stay, I still need you here.”
Without a word or warning, Beidou covers Ningguang’s hands with her own and squeezes them tight before she lays back down, Ningguang’s too soft pillow under her head while Ningguang tangles the two of them together, letting Beidou be the one to cover the both of them with the wrinkled blankets.
“Can I be here when you wake up in the morning?” Beidou asks gently, her thumb stroking back and forth over Ningguang’s knuckles. She doesn’t expect Ningguang to still be awake, nor does she expect Ningguang to kiss the back of her neck as softly as she does. It makes every soft thing in Beidou’s body ache. No one else could do that to her. No one else knew how.
“Who else would I be waking up with if not you?” Ningguang answers simply, the tone of her voice and her hand over Beidou’s heart betraying the flippant answer. Beidou makes a point of kicking Ningguang as softly as she can, her eye focused on their hands and Ningguang’s face hidden in her hair as they both fall into something sluggish and quiet.

in liyue harbor , the afternoon was lovely . the sun was out , there was a beautiful wind , and the sky was clear . as you began to help granny shen close her toy stall for the day , you took a deep breath of the fresh air .
you were eager to leave work today . you had a dinner date with your girlfriend ningguang at xinyue kiosk later this evening . you had been looking forward to it all day . once you finished putting everything away for the day , you bid granny shen farewell . " goodbye , granny ! see you tomorrow ! " " yes see you tommorow dear . " replies granny shen .
you quickly head home to prepare for your date that evening after saying your goodbyes to granny shen . the first thing you do is take out your best outfit before taking a bath . after taking a bath , you got dressed , started applying your makeup , and started doing your hair . and just for this date , you decided to wear the brand-new perfume that ying'er had custom-made for you recently . once you've finished , you leave your house and start walking to the xinyue kiosk.
yueshu , the server , greets you inside xinyue kiosk when you arrive . " good evening , miss y/n . please allow me to bring you to your table , madame ningguang has been waiting for you . " yueshu said. " thank you " , you say to her as you follow her deeper into the restaurant .
upon being led to the table by yueshu , you are instantly struck by ningguang's beauty . you comment on it as you sit down , " ningguang , you look utterly gorgeous this evening . " " as do you , my love . " chuckles ningguang . " our food should arrive soon i've already ordered it. " , she states . before you realize it , the food is on the table after just a few minutes of conversation between you two . you smile at her and exclaim , " yay , you ordered my favorite dishes ; thanks ! " . " it's my pleasure , y/n ; now where should we start ? " she says smiling at you. you both begin to eat , and the both of you pass the time chatting and taking delight in each other's company .
you two finish your meals , pay , and then exit the restaurant . " the food was amazing ! " you say feeling overstuffed , and ningguang chuckles . " i have one final thing i would like to do with you this evening . would you like to visit the jade chamber to watch the sunset and perhaps spend the night there with me ? " . you exclaim , " yes , of course , i would love that ! " you say with excitement . " all right , let's go up to the jade chamber then . " she says looking at you with love in her eyes .
when you two reach the jade chamber , one of ningguang's secretaries welcomes you. baiwen smiles and says , " the blanket and cushions you requested have been set out , madame ningguang . " " thank you , baiwen . " ningguang replies . " she takes your hand and says , " right this way, y/n . " you were amazed when the two of you arrived at the location that baiwen had prepared . it was basic but lovely. lanterns in the form of flowers were dimly lit and the blanket was decorated with glaze lilies. you look at ningguang , " this is beautiful . " you say to her . " i'm happy you like it , darling , and it looks like we were just in time to watch the sunset too . " she says , sounding pleased .
as soon as the both of you are seated , you both gaze out at the breathtaking surroundings . as you sat and talked , you both ate a dessert that was specially prepared for you two . once you finished your dessert you noticed that the sky had turned a beautiful shade of blue . " the sky is so gorgeous looking tonight , " you think to yourself . you two relax together , taking in the quiet and peaceful settings whilst savoring each other's company . you place your head on ningguang's shoulder in hopes that this moment would never come to an end .
after the sun had completely set , ningguang said something . " let's go inside and get ready for bed , it's getting late . " " awh, all right. " you say feeling a little sad to have to go inside . once you both enter the jade chamber , another one of ningguang's secretaries welcomes you . " good evening ! i hope you ladies had a good time . would you like me to bring a set of pajamas for miss y/n to your room , madame ningguang ? " baixiao asks with a grin . " that would be perfect . thank you . " baixiao instantly dashes off to get your pajamas for the night .
no matter how many times you see ningguang's bedroom , you are always amazed at how beautiful it is . " i'm going to go bathe ; your pajamas should be here soon okay . " ningguang says breaking you out of your train of thought . " okay . " you say to her with a smile . a few minutes later , baixiao brings the clothes . " thank you , baixiao ! " you say to her . " it's no problem at all , miss y/n . enjoy your evening . " she says , turning to leave as you close the door . you begin to remove your makeup , take out your hairpins , and put your shoes away while you wait for ningguang to finish up .
ningguang was waiting for you when you came from the restroom ; she was already in bed . " how was your bath , my darling ? " she says as she sets the book she was reading on the nightstand. " it was wonderful . "  you say sounding relaxed . you approach her and get into bed with her . as soon as you get in the bed , she takes you into her arms , and you lie on her chest . her bed's sheets were so plush, silky, and inviting that you thought you might doze off at any moment.
" ning , i had so much fun today . " you say drowsily . she starts to rub circles on your back in an attempt to help you fall asleep and feel more relaxed and says , " i had a nice time today too , y/n . "  you simply giggle in response to her . you say , barely awake , " i love you , ningguang . " " i love you so much more y/n . " she says as she places a gentle kiss on your forehead. you fall asleep as ningguang kisses , holds you , and whispers loving words into your ear , and you nod off in her embrace .

ੈ♡˳·˖✶ — ZHONGLI X FEM READER
You can judge a man by his friends, but what does it say about Zhongli that he’s good friends with Childe?
wc — 2.1k
tags — almost a proposal, Childe gets on reader’s nerves because he gives them a pep talk on their relationship with Zhongli, sparring
glossary | chapter 7 of This Is How We Mourn The Living
Tumblr media
If you had spoken to yourself even just a year ago and said that the god of contracts would be sitting in your home, drinking your tea, you would’ve gotten slapped for being a liar.
And yet, here you were, with Zhongli himself sitting on your couch. He’s apologizing for staying so late.
“I had just meant to stop by in the afternoon to offer you tea I had made from the Glaze Lilies you bought me, but when the hours stretched into night and you hadn’t returned, I found myself a little worried. Forgive me my foolishness, I should’ve known you were more than capable of taking care of yourself.”
“You were waiting out there for so long?”
He lifts one shoulder, and even that gesture too, is transformed into the elegance of a perfectly executed curtsey because of the man who makes it. “It is not such a big deal. May I ask where you were?”
“With Xiao.” You’re still too stunned by his admission to offer anything beyond the simplest answer to his question, your brain still stuck on how he waited for you, in the blistering heat of Liyue summer, all afternoon, to make sure you got home safe.
“With Xiao?”
“You said he was ill, and I was worried.”
Behind his teacup, his lips quirk into a smile. “I see. And you looked after him. Truly, you are something else.”
It is at that moment that you realize you have something inside your house you don’t want Zhongli to see, and at that same moment he turns around and looks directly at it, because the god you always pray to is no longer answering messages, having retired.
“Is that my coat?”
It is. From the first day you met, you had forgotten to return it over and over. Eventually, it had simply found a permanent place hanging on your coat rack, welcoming you whenever you came home. Even more humiliating, the tail of your keychain is very clearly sticking out of the pocket. He gives you a cheeky smile that says more than if he had just made fun of you.
“You can keep it,” he says, “if you do me a favor.”
At this point, you’re willing to do almost anything, if he would just move past the topic at hand.
Gently, he takes your wrist into his hand, and with the lightest touch, carefully claps a gold chain around your wrist. It’s glowing, and gold flecks shimmer and emerge into the air around it, only to fade away - imbued with Geo energy.
“This is a gift,” he says, his head bent so low over your hand the end of his bands brush your fingers. You can feel his cool breath against your skin. “Keep it on you, and be safe always.”
It’s a thoughtful present, and one that admittedly makes your heart race every time you catch a glimpse of it for the next week, but unfortunately, your coworkers also can’t get enough of your new jewelry.
“That’s basically a proposal,” Baiwen says. “How romantic!”
You never put much stock into Baiwen’s antics, but even Ningguang has joined in the teasing, and you’re desperate to escape the Yuhai Pavilion. When you check your to-do list, there’s a task you’ve been meaning to do for a while anyways, and it’s the perfect escape.
Ningguang had saved the city from Osial’s destruction, but water damage and flying hunks of stone weren’t the only things that could damage Liyue. As much as you were ashamed of being unable to provide a better solution at the moment, the city of wealth also had citizens with little to their name.
While the Qixing put great effort into passing the right legislation, it took time and direct action was currently needed. Ganyu had set up a kitchenette in the heart of Liyue to provide meals. They were free of charge to those who were in need.
Today, that was where you had decided to spend your time. After all, you had once been among those waiting in line.
As you pass her a bowl of steaming hot soup with a side of glazed vegetables, a woman clasps your hand and bends over it in prayer. “May Rex Lapis look after you,” she says.
Then, she looks at your companion curiously. After all, what is a member of the Qixing doing next to the most hated man in Liyue?
“Hey, girlie!”
You ignore him.
“I know you can hear me!” He gets closer to your face. “You want to spar? Zhongli won’t play with me right now, and you’re the only other friend I have in this city.”
You desperately remind yourself that if you tried to drown him in the soup, no one else would get fed today, so you must restrain yourself.
“Hey! Hey, I know you can hear me.” He waves his hand in front of your face. “You’re so cold! Friends shouldn’t treat each other this way.”
“I’m not your friend,” you grit out.
“No? I guess it makes sense,” he says, stroking his chin. “After all, I did almost flood your city. But come on, it’s not even like that’s a particularly bad crime, if you think about it. Shouldn’t you be grateful since I -uh!”
You’re rather proud of the squeak he makes when you grab him by the shirt and shove him against the wall. “What did you say you wanted to do? You wanted to spar? I’ll give you a fight if that’s what you want so badly, but first, shut up and,” you shove a ladle into his hands, “work for it.”
He looks at the ladle, then shrugs. “Not much different from being the greatest toy salesman in Snezhnaya.”
“You are so weird.”
Childe is a decent waiter. He’s an even better fighter, as much as you hate to admit it. You wanted to call him just decent, but you can’t lie to yourself. He’s much more than a decent fighter - he’s keeping you on your toes, and you trained with the rest of the Qixing, including Ningguang, regularly.
The worst part is the way he’s trying to advise you, calling out tips.
“Got you there,” he pants, lunging.
You barely dodge in time.
“Oho, well done! You need to relax though, you’re too tense.”
“I’m going to kill you,” you roar, bringing your sword down on his head. He blocks it with his own blade, though his wrist twists back at an awkward angle. He doesn’t even flinch.
“See, that’s exactly what I mean! You need to find the thrill in the battle, or you’ll never be able to beat me.”
That’s when you take out his leg, sweeping it from under him. You jump on his weakness immediately, forcing your blade under his chin and crushing his wrist under your boot.
“What was that?”
He’s laughing. You have him pinned, sword at his throat, and he’s laughing like the whole situation is hilarious. And it must be for him, because he played you like a fool. You’re thrown back by a wave of lighting as a purple mist envelops his body, and then a monster appears, 12 feet tall and covered in purple armor, wearing Childe’s mask.
You’re left gaping.
“You’re talented,” Childe says admiringly. “But not talented enough. This must be a habit of yours, overlooking things when it suits your purposes.”
“Get out of my face. You can’t talk to me like that!”
“You must know yourself to know your enemy - no wonder you can’t beat me. You have no idea what’s going on in your own life.”
You’re sick of this. You’re sick of him, and his stupid, roundabout ways of disclosing only the smallest tidbits of information, and even then, only when it’s convenient to him. You’re going to take him down in his Foul Legacy transformation, once and for all, and then you’re going to kick him and his stupid armor all the way back to Snezhnaya.
He swings at you, and you leap onto his blade, using the force when he pulls back to propel yourself forward towards his mask, intent on tearing it off.
He stumbles back, giving you an opening to attack. You swing your blade with all your might - barely recognizing yourself in the reflection you catch in his mirrored mask. There’s so much force behind the blow that even when he catches it with his armored shoulder, small cracks shiver across the purple material, the hairline fracture of shattered glass. You might actually be trying to kill him, and you don’t feel sorry at all.
“You know, Zhongli used to write me letters about how you called him Rex Lapis even when he had given up that title. He was so sad, you know. No wonder he prefers me. I might even take him to Snezhnaya if you- fuck,” he grunts. “Oh, you’re good.”
You can’t keep this up forever. Childe is the eleventh harbinger for a reason, but you’re one of Liyue’s best defenders. It’s a war of attrition, and you’re not quite sure which one of you would go down first in a real fight, but this is your home turf. You turn, and flee, leaving Childe spluttering behind you as he gives chase.
There’s a quiet corner of this training arena, hidden by the shadows. The first time you ever used it, Ganyu had disappeared in the middle of your fight and forced you to find her. By the time you discovered it, she had flipped your positions and forced you into it, limiting your range of movement. It’s the same tactic you’re planning to use on Childe, but you miscalculated one thing.
He’s several feet taller than you were back then.
“There you are,” he says, booted feet skidding to a stop. “Did I scare you? I won’t kill you, don’t worry. I didn’t mean to. Are you hurt?”
Is he serious?
You feign holding your shoulder in pain, and you can’t tell behind his mask, but judging by his voice, he’s panicking.
“Aw, I didn’t mean to actually hurt you. I just wanted to rough you up a little, have some friendly fun! Come here and I’ll patch you up.”
“What reason do I have to trust you?”
He drops his weapon to the ground. “See? I can play nice.”
You pull not your sword, but your vision from behind your back, and blast him with Geo energy so hard he flips into the air and lands hard on his back. He doesn’t move.
A chill goes down your spine. He’s annoying and everything about him is hateful, but somehow, you can’t bring yourself to kill him. You rush to his side, and his hand shoots out to grab your boot, pulling you down.
“Now,” he says, looming over you, all the creepier for his mask, half broken and hanging off his face. “I’m really mad. I was being nice before, you know?”
His tone is conversational, friendly even, but his full weight is bearing down on you. “I was giving you advice as a friend. Zhongli likes it when you treat him like a man, not a god, and I know you like it too, I’ve seen you together. But somehow you always slip up. How many times do I have to tell you? He’s no longer a god.”
“Stop sticking your nose in what’s not your business,” you snap, shoving him off you, your arms fortified with Geo. “Zhongli and I don’t need you to be our therapist.”
“No? You’re doing a shitty job of trying to help learn to be human, though.”
You freeze. “How do you know about that?”
Foul Legacy detransforms, and Childe appears, once again, his red-orange hair tousled. “He’s my friend,” he says. “So I suggest you take me seriously.”
“You’re not-“
He grabs you by the shoulders. “And we’re friends too.”
“Why are you looking out for me?” You don’t trust a Fatui agent, much less a harbinger, as far as you can throw him. You have no idea why Childe is putting this much effort into helping you with Zhongli.
“Mm, maybe it’s because you remind me of my brother?”
You vaguely remember him mentioning this to you once before, at the dinner with Zhongli.
“…How old is your brother?”
“Five!”
Before you can launch yourself at him with renewed vigor, a hand forces Childe’s blade down.
“What exactly is going on here?” Zhongli’s voice is colder than the crackling ice of Snezhnayan winter.
Childe frowns. “I didn’t think you’d be such a disloyal friend, Zhongli-xiansheng. I’ve known you for longer, but you’re asking about her injuries before mine!”
“It seems you forgot that I was the god of war, once. I suggest you do not test me.”
Childe blinks. Looks at you. And then his lips curve into a sly smirk. He’s definitely getting the wrong idea. “Oh,” he chirps. “I see what’s going on here.”
“My lady!” A Millelith soldier cuts in. “It’s happening again!”
Both you and Zhongli turn on Childe with an accusatory look, but he spreads his hands in wide-eyed innocence and mouths, ‘Not me.’
“No, seriously, this time! Go have a look yourselves, if you’re not convinced,” he huffs. “Not everything’s my fault, you know?”

"would you change anything, if given the chance, about your life?", @orchideae asked.
And here she had thought that they had concluded their meeting. The pair had bid each other farewell just mere minutes ago. After years of collaboration and, should she dare say it, friendship, this became routine. Months apart led to a meeting in the Jade Chamber to go over the information collected and address concerns, then they part ways once more. Together one moment, apart the next. Ningguang expected Yelan to have left already, so she had started where she left off on her paperwork. The question stills the Tianquan's hand, making her ponder.
The answer comes without hesitation. She's always been sure of herself, even if the path ahead was mired in strife. What has her perplexed is the intent. Just what is she trying to achieve with this? Yelan knows her. There's very few things she holds tighter in her fist than Mora. However... this isn't about her. No, this invokes an all too familiar scene. One from many years ago, when she found the agent with bleeding hands and a wounded heart and soul.
Upon seeing Baiwen rounding the corner, eye contact and a hand gesture was all that was needed to send her away. A sigh escapes as Ningguang sets her quill down next to the parchment.
❝ No, I would not. ❞
The girl she once was wouldn't survive a day as the Tianquan she became. Red eyes, at long last, turn to hold their gaze with her companion's. ❝ That begs the question: would you? If you are having doubts... my words back then hold even now. ❞

Febru-rarepair-y day six: Harmless Secrets: Beigguangli
Ningguang chuckled slightly as she leaned back onto Zhongli's chest. She twirled her pipe a bit before handing it to Beidou.
"So, dear husband of ours," she began with a teasing tone. "Do you perhaps know of any harmless secrets? Or fascinating gossip? I'm quite curious what those old ears have picked up over the centuries."
Beidou sat up slightly. "Yeah, tell us something!"
Zhongli thought for a minute, before snapping his fingers. "I do have something. Something about our beloved Beidou here, in fact, that she probably doesn't know about herself."
"Color me intrigued," Beidou said, turning around to face Zhongli.
"Me as well," Ningguang added as she followed her wife's lead. "Go on."
Zhongli smiled at their eagerness to listen. "Beidou, you do not know yoir own lineage, do you?" When the captain shook her head, Zhongli continued, "Do you know why you seemed to bring bad luck to that village?"
Beidou shook her head again, her mouth twisting in a familiar, painful way.
"I know why, and I know who you're descended from."
"That sounds like she's related to someone important," Ningguang noted.
"Depends. Beidou, while mostly human, happens to be descended from one of the Yaksha soldiers. Not any of the generals, but one of the soldiers. Beidou, your 'bad luck' in early years came from residual karmic debt." Zhongli smiled. "You seemed to have worked that out somehow."
Beidou seemed to be speechless, or at the very least processing the news. When she spoke again, the emotion in her voice, while unidentifiable, was palpable.
"I'm an adeptus?"
Zhongli shook his head. "No, the bloodline became diluted over the years. You are indeed still mostly human. But you do have adeptal blood."
Beidou stared at her hands. "So when I killed Haishan. That really wasn't a normal human feat."
Zhongli nodded.
Ningguang looked worriedly at Beidou for a while, until Beidou started laughing. Both the Geo users were startled.
"Oh, Archons. I have to ease up on Kazuha!" She laughed into her hands. "Oh and to think, the kid probably already knows. He's smarter and more intuitive than he seems."
"Yes, but, what does he have to do with this?" Ningguang asked.
"He asked for training amd I've been trying to push him to my level. I thought he was just really frail but nope! I'm just part adeptus! Who'd have thought?!"
"If this has caused you distress, I apologize," Zhongli said sincerely. "That was not my intent."
Beidou shook her head. "In all honesty, 'Li, it's a relief. Sometimes my own past haunts me, and now I have a few answers. So, thank you. Maybe next time, though, give a lottle more warning before dropping a bombshell like that."
"I thought I gave plenty of warning?"
"You failed to mention how my whole world might shift," Beidou replied sassily. "Regardless, I think 'harmless secret time' is over now."
As if on cue, a knock sounded on the door of Ningguang's room, and Baiwen's voice echoed through, calling the Tianqiang to work once more.
"Well, my mighty lovers, I suggest you return to your jobs as well. I will see you both tonight." She pressed a kiss to each of her partners' cheeks, and vanished through the door.
As Beidou prepared to leave, she grabbed Zhongli's hand and pulled him in close. She kissed him softly, then pulled back. "Thanks again."
And then it was just Zhongli.

Hii, you know the drill! I give the numbers and you can answer the questions :) 2, 4, 8, 13, 15, 19 (optional, you don't have to),
LOL! I always appreciate it! Thank you, ridl! Answers below the cut.
2. Do you read/reread your own fics?
I doooo. As much as I like sharing my writing with others, I’m still my own target audience lol. I write fics that I would like to read.
4. How many WIPs do you have right now?
15! In various stages of completion 😅
8. What project(s) are you currently working on?
I’m actively working on one ongoing wip, but I’m thinking about at least three or four others regularly and I think that counts, too, lol.
And it’s not a fanfic per se but it is fanfic adjacent: I’m trying to teach myself how to bind books, because I’d like hardcopies of my own fics one day and I think it’d be a cool way to incorporate my leather work into my fandoms. It’s going terribly so far, but I’ll keep trying 😂
13. How much planning do you do before writing?
Really depends on the story. I historically haven’t been much of a planner, but I also historically have never written anything longer than 20-30k words. As I try pushing myself beyond that, I’m finding planning and outlining and keeping notes to be really invaluable. But for the shorter stuff, under 25k, I’ll probably keep to winging it.
15. How do you come up with titles for your fics/chapters?
Ooo. Good question. I don’t think I really have a system to come up with titles for anything, and I usually keep chapters just numbered since it’s easier. For some of my fics, I titled them first, others I found a title after they were finished (and for the record, I think those titles are much better). But usually it’s a matter of trying to find something that encapsulates the fic or its theme for me. I like one word titles best, but they’re much harder to come up with, I think.
19. Give us a small teaser from one of your WIPs.
Okay okay. For context, this is an older one, an overly ambitious attempt at a ganqing pride and prejudice au. I though I probably would never be able to finish it, but I think I actually do want to try. One day, lol.
It’s late on a Friday afternoon when Ganyu first hears the news. She is sitting at her desk, the expansive mahogany surface covered in an assortment of files, three monitors, and a holoprojector. The sinking sun alights on her back as she hunches over her tablet, typing a hundred words per minute, determined to finish this last report before calling it a day.  The elevator chimes and she glances up as the doors whisper open and the three assistants who share the foyer office space with her spill out, chattering like a flock of birds. Ganyu furrows her brow a degree in faint disapproval as the three move to their desks on the opposite side of the room, their heeled shoes clip-clopping on the gleaming marble floor. They continue to warble at their desks, their excited voices piercing Ganyu’s concentration and shattering her focus. She sighs, looks pointed at them and then slams her tablet shut. The three assistants jump at the sound. One, Baixiao, at least has the decency to look slightly ashamed. “Ah, Miss Ganyu!” exclaims Baishi, “We didn’t realize you were still here.” Ganyu purses her lips. “I was just leaving,” she says.  “Did you hear the news, Miss Ganyu?” asks Baiwen.  “I hear a lot of news, you’ll have to be more specific,” answers Ganyu as she packs her tablet and a few documents into her bag. She will have to finish her report at home.  “Lady Ningguang’s finally hired a new Yuheng,” says Baishi.  “Oh?” “I heard she’s incredibly young for such a position,” says Baixiao. “She’s supposed to be something of a prodigy.” “I heard she’s from one of the wealthiest families in the country,” counters Baiwen. “And I heard she’s a straight up 10,” says Baishi with a smirk. “A total smokeshow.” The three assistants all burst into giggles.  Ganyu doesn’t even spare the effort of rolling her eyes. With a company as big as Qixing Inc, rumours and gossip are part of the general office ambience. Ganyu tries to ignore most of it, but can’t help being a little bit interested if it happens to affect her at all. And a new Yuheng definitely affects her.
