Long time no see. Thores Shibamoto's gorgeous aesthetics were perfect for this franchise 😍

The Trinity Blood anime sequestered my mind in an unusual way. It was never completed because the author of the novels on which it's based, Sunao Yoshida, died before he could finish the story. The anime ends before the very climax where the main conflict is about to get settled once and for all. And it drove me fucking insane not knowing how it ends 😫😆

When I found out about the novels, I bought the collection and read obsessively trying to piece together what the outcome of that final clash would be. I still don't know. But I learned so much about the characters, the lore and the state of this fictional world. Also got a glimpse of Shibamoto's stunning art 🥹💖

It was all worth it. And I got over the obsessive spell too😅

Some people have said "better go watch Trigun instead" because father Abel Nightroad has the same personality as Vash the Stampede. I haven't seen Trigun myself, but Yoshida's inspirations are easy to spot.

Still the journey of his beloved vampire priest is beautiful and thought provoking. Also very disappointing because it does all the buildup and provides no closure, but this is the result of the tragic accident that ended the author's life. Still I recommend it. Go watch the anime if you dare, or even better, go read the novels ✨

In how Yoshida communicated and how he wrote his characters; he came across as fun, friendly, good-humored, kind, compassionate, goofy, nostalgic, angsty and deeply empathetic.

hi do you think sam is normal about the fact that matt died (on what was supposed to be his watch. by the way) and then came back as a fucking catholic priest. like. this guy watched his community get torn apart by a religious leader. aforementioned religious leader told him to kill a guy, got really pissed when he didn't, and threw him and his mom and their entire community under the bus when the beast came to take back its stolen power. he doesn't trust religion. he definitely doesn't trust religious authorities.

and now, you know. his quasi-father died (very nearly by the sword sam was given. by the way.) and came back as a religious authority. he actively works in the catholic church. he's a priest. that has to be uniquely shitty for sam. your dad figure is back from the dead (that you probably should have been there to save him from in the first place) and he's not a lawyer anymore but a guy in the exact same position of authority as the one you became blindspot to work against. the one that tried to make you into a murderer. the one that got your mom killed. oh and he doesn't remember you. crazy.

Conjuring AU – Alice in Borderland

Welcome to a new AU for Alice in Borderland I’m developing! It’s an AU of the Conjuring movies, featuring Arisu and Usagi as a queerplatonic version Ed and Lorraine Warren, who kick demon ass together and be the best queerplatonic partners/soulmates you’ve ever seen. I’ll hopefully write more and develop more for this AU soon, but for now, enjoy these moodboards!

Arisu Ryohei — the psychic

Growing up, Arisu had visions and saw things he could never quite explain. Then one day, when his father took him and his brother to the hospital to visit their ailing mother, he saw a spirit at the side of a child’s bed. It simply stood there, touching the child’s cheek, then turned and looked right at Arisu. No one believed him—his father kept berating him for making up stories, believing he was acting out after the death of his mother, his brother considered him an embarrassment, and his fellow schoolchildren mocked him and called him a freak. Arisu grew into adulthood ready to never be believed… that is, until he met Usagi Yuzuha, the first person to truly believe him.

Now, having formed the demonologist duo with his platonic life partner, Arisu is determined to use his psychic gift to help people being terrorized by the supernatural and who aren’t believed. It takes a toll on him, the visions he sees and the trauma it gives him, but he keeps going anyway. But secretly, deep inside, he grapples with the fear that one day, they’ll face something more powerful than they can handle, and it will make him lose Usagi, the person he cares about the most.

Usagi Yuzuha – the exorcist

One night when Usagi was a child, a hand shot out from under her bed, grabbed her foot, and pulled her to the floor and tried to drag her under the bed. But when she ran to tell her father, he simply led her back to her room and told her to face her fears herself. Usagi, although scared, was a determined and stubborn child, so she curled her hands into fists, banged on the floor, and yelled at whatever was under her bed to go away.

No one ever believed her when she tried to tell others what happened. Her relatives kept telling her father she was simply acting out because her mother left and not telling the truth, and other kids her age laughed and told her she was just too scared. So Usagi learned to not talk about it, and grew up thinking no one had experienced something like that. Until, of course, she met Arisu Ryohei, a young man who’d grown up having visions and seeing spirits when no one else could. She and Arisu decided to stick together after that and start looking into the paranormal together, hoping they could find some explanation for Arisu’s visions and Usagi’s experience as a child.

Years later, Usagi is an experienced exorcist, able to recite exorcism chants in multiple languages and successfully cast out the supernatural forces possessing people. She happily shares Arisu’s goal to help others who need supernatural assistance. She is fiercely protective of her platonic life partner, having seen firsthand what the trauma of his visions can do to him, and will do what it takes to get him out alive and protect him as much as she can from the supernatural. Because she can never forget the one vision Arisu had once that he’s never told her about, the vision so horrible that he locked himself in his room for eight days straight. He’s never told her, and she doesn’t ask—but she can’t help wondering a little why he doesn’t want to tell her about it.

So for this, by the time of Miya's descendants Yuichi Shuri(Usagi's Aunt) and Yuichi Kyuya (Usagi's Dad) are fighting in the wars (as alluded to in the convo between Fuwa and Auntie) Jei's latest host was a Miko.

They meet on the battlefield or around those parts

In all Parent!Jei AUs Usagi's parent has... questionable taste...and Shuri suffers for it.

But the Miyamoto rizz lives on and Jei actually does get wifed up

Of course as seen in the show, Usagi's parents are nowhere to be found and there has to be a reason for that

Which can be for two reasons:

Yuichi's dad died from an illness and Jei's gods were like, "damn, that sucks, oh well the boy's Aunt can raise him we've got sinners to kill chopchop." And she bounced.

She killed him :(

The only one with potential for a sorta happy ending for Usagi is Option 1, as he just has an evil murder-happy mom who calls him "[her] innocent" and is overjoyed to reunite with him but wants him to follow her footsteps of slaughtering sinners. But she gives him pointers on his form? So it's fine maybe? (It is not fine Usagi use your yo-yo on her!-Neo Edo Orphan Gang+Tetsujin&Auntie)
