Note
isabella and vanessa
Isabella grins and bounces a little on her knees, reaching into the centre of their little circle on the floor to grab the empty beer bottle.
Finally, it's her turn!
Waggling her eyebrows at Phineas across from her, just to make him laugh, she gives the bottle a spin. She's already three rounds behind everyone else and she can feel the anticipation bubbling from her toes on up.
This had been her idea to begin with, you know. She's always wanted to play it, but never got the right group together before now. Really, she should have gone first, but then the doorbell had rung right before her first turn and since her mom was out for the evening she'd hopped up to answer it. And then she'd gotten absorbed in playing host, passing around the pizza and filling up drinks. And then it had been her turn but the bottle had landed so exactly precisely on Pinky sleeping between Candace and Buford that it would have been bad sportsmanship to not give him a lil peck on his cute head!
And of course in all that time it never landed on her for anyone else either. It's landed on Jeremy more than anyone! (Isabella is absolutely going to investigate her floorboards with a level and her toolbelt the second her friends go home.)
But now it's her turn for real, and Pinky has been conveniently lured away with a doggie treat, and she thinks she managed to spin it fast enough that it shifted to a new part of the floor.
Jeremy would be fine, of course. There aren't very many of her friends she hasn't wanted to kiss. And it would be cute to see Candace crack up again as her boyfriend plays up his long-suffering role. Candace herself would be better, though. Honestly anyone, as long as it's not Ferb--that would just be boring.
Isabella stares at the amber glass going round and round, leaning her weight forward onto her hands as she rapidly tries to calculate its rate of deceleration. Who will it be? Baljeet? Ginger?
Stacy, maybe? Stacy's awesome--and Isabella has told Stacy's mom that, yes.
It slows, slows, sloooooowwwwsssss, and--
"Aw, man!" Buford grouses. "I thought it was gonna be me!"
"Buford, it was not even pointed vaguely in our direction at the end! How would it have suddenly come back our way?"
"I don't know! That's nerd stuff."
But Isabella can barely pay attention to their nonsense. Following the line of the bottle, it did indeed just barely miss Ferb, pointing instead directly at the one sitting next to him. His girlfriend. His other girlfriend, that is. Isabella's metamour, all in pristine goth black, Vanessa Doofenshmirtz.
She likes Vanessa well enough, but she only met her fairly recently when Ferb started bringing her around to group stuff. Apparently he and Candace have known her for ages.
And now she's here, long legs tucked up under her on the corner of Isabella's pink rug. And Isabella...kind of forgot this was a possibility.
Vanessa just meets her eyes with that same cool, not-quite-unapproachable look she always has, and Isabella's stomach flutters. Her boyfriend's girlfriend, the coolest person she knows, on her bedroom floor, waiting to be kissed. On the lips. Oh, fudgenuts.
Her eyes flick over to Ferb's and then back quickly when she decides she doesn't actually want to know what he thinks right now.
Well! Like she's sure she always says, things are only weird if you make them weird!
Decidedly not weird at all, Isabella picks herself up and puts herself back down in front of her target. Nobody is really watching them, mostly distracted by the giant debate Phineas and Baljeet seem to be having about how to optimise bottle spinning physics.
At least, until Vanessa reaches out and swings Isabella down across her lap, dipping her like they're dancing, and plants one on her mid-gasp.
Amid a chorus of "oooooOOOooh"s, Isabella flails and finds her balance clutching at Vanessa's arm. The kiss is brief but warm, inviting, nothing at all like she expected.
So much for weird--by the time Vanessa lets her go, all Isabella can think is that she wishes she wouldn't!
But she does, and Isabella goes back to her own seat with as much composure as she can manage. Luckily, Ginger is next, who never fails to ham it up, and then Baljeet, and then Buford, and Isabella has time to collect herself and settle back into the flow of laughter and friends.
When she does look back over at Vanessa, though, there's no more cool aloof look. She's satisfied, the way a cat might be. And Ferb is nearly as bad, his smug little smile just a bit too knowing.
Isabella narrows her eyes. She can hear without turning to look that the bottle landed on Jeremy. Again.
Did they plan this? How?!
Oh, she's going to get to the bottom of this. Just as soon as everyone goes home.
In the meantime, she turns back to the game and tries very hard to pay attention.

WHEN GLASS SHATTERS VS MORE HEAT THAN LIGHT
When Glass Shatters, written by @local-dragon-haunt
Relevant reason for being submitted: https://archiveofourown.org/series/2896815
Propaganda: local_dragon has a fantastic way with words and unconventional story telling. AUs where Perry is revealed to the kids are frequent, but ones where he interacts with Linda and Lawrence too are few and far between and the concept has so much potential. I just love their writing
More Heat Than Light, written by @makeusfly
Relevant reason for being submitted: https://archiveofourown.org/works/22622278/chapters/54065842
Propaganda: Hands down the best Ferbella fic on the site. It has everything - fake dating, background Canderemy, and demi Phineas. The writing is also wonderful, and it doesn't get messy the way some fake dating stories can be. Also there's Phineas and Stacy bonding and that's a critically underrated duo right there.
Contestants may add their own propaganda however they see fit, provided it does not put down the person they are against, and if they continue it will be added to the next poll they are in. All round 1 matches were randomly generated, and anyone may drop out at any time.
