Billboard USA Exclusion Zone Episode 14 (06/03/2023)
Tumblr media
This week felt a bit...weird. I think it's because some of these songs are just there you know? Anyways no more wasting time let's get through this.
-----------------------------------------------------
2. "WHERE SHE GOES" by Bad Bunny
There's three big trends that has been happening over the course of the year. Regional Mexican sound going mainstream, lazy sampling, and the rise of Jersey club. Jersey club's impact so far on the global stage is basically that one Lil Uzi Vert and the remix of Players. But, now Jersey club has its biggest hit with this Bad Bunny song. I'd say that for those who wanna get into this genre, this song is a great introduction with more fuller production and the familiarity of the Bad Bunny formula with the synth and the subject matter of hostile back and forth relationship drama. Overall a great tune.
12. "Angel Pt. 1" by Kodak Black, NLE Choppa, JVKE, Jimin, & Muni Long
I'll just rank every performance here because this song is kinda boring. Muni Long = Jimin >>>> NLE Choppa >>>> Kodak Black > JVKE.
19. "Say Yes To Heaven" by Lana Del Rey
If there's one thing TikTok is good at is making deepcuts and even unreleased demo from an artist whom are still on an album cycle. It happened with The Weeknd and seems like it happened with Lana Del Rey too.
36. "TQM" by Fuerza Regida
You know I would've joked about how this song correlates with TQG but this song is generic enough even by corrido standard that I just ehhhhhhhhh.
89. "Amagura" by Karol G
I think I might like this song more than half of Manana Sera Bonito. It all came down to the vocal melody which is very nice indeed.
90. "Bite Me" by ENHYPEN
You know my friend actually love this band. So this is a perfect opportunity for me to listen to their sound. I would say that they're doing the ITZY sound but doing it 80%.
93. "America Has A Problem" by Beyonce ft. Kendrick Lamar
It's kinda nice to hear Beyonce paying homage to early southern rap with the Kilo samples. And Kendrick Lamar always love to experiment his flow with his features and this one is no different. I wish both of them have a better chemistry tbh.
100. "Mourning" by Post Malone
NOW THIS IS WHAT I WANT MISERABLE EMO POSTY TO SOUND LIKE. No but seriously if the next album sounds like this song, I think it's gonna be as great as Hollywood's Bleeding.
169. "Vagabundo" by Sebastian Yatra, Manuel Turizo & Beele
I wonder what would come after reggaeton if and when the genre will become unpopular. Seems like it's gonna be either merengue, bachata, or regional mexican sound. Honestly I would love more merengue that sounds like this.
174. "69" by Nicky Jam X Feid
Why does this song sounds like it sampled Your Mines Still by Yung Bleu? Also I think I can say that I am sick of Feid. He's very bland and his success baffled me even more than Peso Pluma this year.
182. "Novo Balanco" by VEIGH
Speaking of rising trend, I think Brazilian trap music will be the next trend worldwide I'm predicting it now.
187. "The Best" by Tina Turner
Rest in Power Tina Turner.
I highly recommend everyone to listen to these songs.

For @nymika-arts and @deareddie (allegedly this was your idea so)
Song: I Am Yours by Andy Grammer
[AO3 Link]
Word Count: 2162 words
Not many things made Buck nervous.
Eddie could say that confidently, because as his partner of four and a half years, he’s had the pleasure of watching Buck in every situation possible, both personally and professionally.
Being anxious over something? Sure. Scared? Definitely. But Eddie had never seen him as nervous as he looked right now, scrolling through the internet.
“Waltz is out, we’ll just trample all over each other,” Buck muttered to himself as he scrolled. Eddie’s far since abandoned the movie they were watching in favour of watching his fiancé try to figure whatever it is he’s trying to figure out. “As it is, I have two left feet, and you’ll look horrible with your toes crushed.”
Okay, Buck lost him there.
“What are you talking about?”
“We can’t tango, that’s too complicated. Not bachata either,” Buck continued as if Eddie had never spoken. “I feel like we’d get too carried away for an event with children, pressed together like that. Too sensuous.”
Eddie laughed in disbelief. “What? Buck, you’re not making any sense here.”
“The dance, Eddie! The one we’re supposed to do? As a newly-married couple? In front of everyone?” Buck gesticulated wildly, shoving his phone in Eddie’s face. He took hold of the man’s wrist and pushed it back a few inches so he could actually read the screen.
20+ Types of Dance: Every Style, Easily Explained & Demoed
“This is what makes you so nervous? Our first dance?”
Buck looked affronted as he snatched his phone back. “Yeah, Eddie, you know, the dance we’re supposed to share in front of our closest family and friends on supposedly one of the best days of our lives?”
“Okay, first off,” Eddie said, holding his hands up in surrender. “Marrying you is definitely going to be one of the best days of my life, no matter what, so get that in your head. And second, we don’t need to do a formal dance thing. It’s just supposed to be us.”
“‘Us’ won’t look good after I stomp all over your feet a gazillion times,” Buck grumbled, sliding his phone on the coffee table before resting his head back to stare up at the ceiling. Eddie studied him for a bit, traced the familiar curve of his throat down to his crossed arms, fingers tapping against his biceps. He followed that down to where Buck’s long legs were stretched out in front of him, socked feet crossed at the ankles and propped on the coffee table. His feet were also tapping an invisible beat.
In some ways, he got Buck’s anxiety over the dance. They’d been planning their wedding for what felt like years, even though it’d only been a couple of weeks. Neither of them were fans of a huge production, but Buck had very specific ideas of how he’d wanted their small ceremony to go and look.
Naturally, Eddie let Buck and Christopher make the decisions. If they were happy, he was happy; that was a done deal. As it was, the three of them tended to line up with most of their choices anyway.
Eddie hadn’t done this before, either, so he was entirely out of his depth. It was all way too quick with Shannon, and he still regretted not giving her the wedding and marriage she’d dreamed of. He would never be able to make up for that, ever.
But he had grown as a person, more confident and settled in his skin than he’d ever been before. He’d learned the basic foundations of a relationship, how love — even as unconditional as it was — wasn’t the only thing that held people together. Trust, communication...those things were important, too, and it took a lot of time to learn them.
He couldn’t let Buck stress over this. In three days, he wouldn’t be allowed to see the man at all until their wedding, on the insistence of their sisters. Buck was anxious about the dance, Eddie was anxious about not getting to see Buck for three days. He didn't think they'd gone a single day without each other in the past four years, save for extremely rare occasions.
Shaking those thoughts off, he pulled his own phone out, tapping the song they’d chosen and letting it play on repeat.
As the familiar music floated through the stillness between them, Buck turned his face to grin softly at him, the same smile that made Eddie fall in love with him every day. “Feeling particularly romantic tonight, are we?”
Eddie laughed softly. “No, get your lazy ass up, we’re gonna practice.”
“Practice?” Buck asked curiously as Eddie gestured for him to take his feet off the coffee table so he could push it flush against the couch. The space in the living room widened enough for the two of them to move comfortably without tripping.
Satisfied, Eddie offered his hand to his fiancé, feeling his lips curve up with how content he was. “Come on.”
Buck placed his hand in Eddie’s, letting himself be pulled up into Eddie’s arms. “Show me what you’ve got.”
“I’ve got nothing but you, Buck,” Eddie grinned, kissing him once as the song started. “Okay, all we have to do is just sway together.”
Buck threw his head back in laughter, eyes crinkling merrily at the corners. “That’s your grand plan? Just sway together?”
“What, did you think I was a pro-dancer or something?” Eddie wrapped one arm around Buck’s waist, clasping his hand tight with his other. It was the hand that had Buck’s ring on it, pressing against their entangled fingers in a reminder of how lucky Eddie was.
“Thought maybe you had more than that,” he teased, reciprocating the hold until they were pressed tight together, swaying slowly to the music.
Eddie only smiled, tilting his head up the necessary inch to look Buck in the eye. The playful moment melted into something low and mellow, settling peacefully over the room just as Andy Grammer’s voice filled it.
Just another love song from a simple man I been searching for some chords underneath these hands So I can try to tell you I love you
“Marrying you is going to be one of the best days of my life, too,” Buck whispered. Eddie smiled wider, pressing the hand that had his own ring on it flatter against Buck’s back. It was a good reminder that he hadn’t dreamt their whole relationship.
This was real. Buck was real, Eddie was going to marry him, and none of that was a fever dream.
You know I need you Like your oxygen Be my atmosphere Let me breathe you in So I can try to tell you I love you
They were due to do this exact dance five days from now, in an open venue, dressed to the nines in their suits. Then, there would be matching wedding rings on their fingers instead of these engagement rings, and matching names right with it. There would be their friends and family surrounding them as they shared their first dance as husbands.
I been lost, I been found But I know I am now, I am yours
Still, Eddie didn’t think it could match what the dance was now. They were vulnerable like this, just in thin tank-tops and sweatpants, holding each other close in the dim light of the living room. The hair gel had been washed out of their hair a while ago, leaving Buck's hair in curls that made him look years younger than he actually was. Eddie's flopped wildly on his forehead, sticking up in random curls and cowlicks.
It was open, vulnerable. Neither of them standing with a defense against the cruelty of this world.
Eddie still struggled with letting his guard down after he passed the threshold of the house, but here, in the safety of their living room, he was free to just...be. Here, he was Buck’s Eddie, Christopher’s father, and the most open version of himself he could be.
Christopher and Buck did that to him. They made him brave.
I am yours Now and always Wouldn't dream to be anything more You take my breath away every night Still can't believe it when you say your mine and I am yours, I am yours, I am yours
“See? It’s just as I told you. Easy,” Eddie said, leading them into a circles.
He wanted to do this all night. Just keep the love of his life close, sharing soft moments under the roof that held Eddie’s sole purpose — his family.
I was free falling through the open sky 'Til you smiled at me and you saved my life and I Knew I was put here to love you
“Now this part...is for us,” Eddie whispered, dragging his arms up to link behind Buck’s neck. His fiancé’s smile only grew as he wrapped his own around Eddie’s waist. They closed the last inch of distance between them, simply swaying side to side.
You got the universe swimming in your eyes I’m an open book when you look in mine You'll find that I was put here to love you
Buck’s eyes shone brightly, even in the dimness of the room. The only light was coming from a sole lamp, casting shadows across their faces that highlighted every feature. Eddie could read the love on his face clear as day, surely reflecting his own expression.
I been lost, I been found But I know I am now, I am yours
“You know...I’m so happy I get to do this with you,” Eddie told him honestly. He moved to cup Buck’s jaw, pressing a soft kiss to the corner of his mouth. “I love you, Buck.”
I am yours Now and always Wouldn't dream to be anything more You take my breath away every night Still can't believe it when you say your mine and I am yours, I am yours, I am yours
“Better save some of that sap for next week,” Buck replied, turning his head and capturing his lips in a proper kiss. “I love you, too.” Then, on an afterthought, he added, “I told you you were feeling romantic.”
I been lost, I been found But I know I am now, I am yours
Eddie laughed. “Always for you, Buck.”
Thinking of something, Eddie grinned cheekily before dipping Buck backwards. He let out a yelp at the sudden movement, glaring up at Eddie.
“I’m not going to let you fall,” Eddie promised, laughing at the stricken look on Buck’s face.
“Think it’s a little too late for that,” Buck quipped meaningfully, a hand coming to the nape of his neck to drag Eddie’s face down into a movie-style kiss. As they shared the quiet moment, Eddie slowly brought Buck back up to their original position, keeping them connected all the while.
“Feeling better now? About the dance?” Eddie asked quietly when they separated, taking Buck’s hand to put them back in the same position they’d started in.
Buck hummed as they swayed together. “Yeah. I just don’t want to mess this up.”
“Not possible. I’m marrying you no matter what,” Eddie said, smiling when Buck laughed.
“Even if all your toes get flattened in the process?”
Eddie peered down at where their feet were moving in a slow circle, in sync like everything else they did. “We’ve been doing this for a while now, and we haven’t stepped on each other yet. Pretty good news to me. But yes, even then.”
Buck hooked an elbow around Eddie, dragging him into a slow kiss that warmed him down to his very bones. “I’m gonna hold you to that. You’re never getting rid of me now.”
I am yours Now and always Wouldn't dream to be anything more You take my breath away every night Still can't believe it when you say your mine and I am yours, I am yours, I am yours
Eddie believed his every word, in ways that he'd never trusted anyone before.
It was this surety that’d taken Eddie the most time to get used to. Everything with Buck, even their arguments and fights, had come easy. They managed to work things out between them while only growing closer in the process, instead of distance growing — something completely against anything Eddie had ever known.
Eddie thought it was because they were getting better at communicating like adults, but deep down, he knew that if soulmates were real, Buck was his.  He’d never had a better partner, and without a doubt, he never would.
Clasping their hands together again, Eddie looked into his fiancé’s eyes, letting the remaining lyrics wrap around them. “I’m counting on it.”
I am yours, I am yours, I am yours I am yours, I am yours, I am yours
Buck smiled, leaning down to press their foreheads together. "Good, 'cause I'm yours, and you're mine."
Eddie kissed him, just as their song began playing again.

A Historical past Of Musical Type In Modern Europe And America (Norton Introduction To Music.
It is official - science has basically confirmed, with a research, that Pop music is indeed each getting louder and diminishing in selection. What we think about traditional Greek folks music is intently tied to the wealthy history of Greece. In Historic Greece, the music was an integral part of Greek theater. Afterward, music evolved and was influenced by the Roman Empire, Byzantine Empire, and in a while, the Ottoman Empire. In this instance, you will be listening to a Latin music clip. In Latin music like merengue and salsa, the percussion instruments, piano, and bass line all work collectively to make an incredible intricate rhythmic internet. Within the clips below you'll hear the entire different Latin percussion instruments solo. Then you'll hear the full observe (repeated once for a total of eight measures). Provided that we do find that MySpace musicians group genres into constant complexes (3 worlds, sixteen style communities), we turn to our third question, about the structural dimensions of those complexes. To do so, we look at the extent to which the permeability of genre communities' boundaries differ. Here we return to the 2x2 desk from above, and show how the most important genre complexes within the MySpace universe fit inside it. Thanks MagicKat. A lot of girls do say they've encountered important quantities of sexism and harassment in the rock music scene, which can clarify why some ladies might have felt they wanted to be more masculine to fit in. But I agree that's not necessarily each lady's experience. Nonetheless perceptions depend for lots. If women believe the rock music scene will likely be hostile to them, they could be wary of coming into it to begin with. Fewer female artists might then imply fewer feminine followers.
Initially from the Dominican Republic , bachata is likely one of the most popular Latin music genres today. Though the making of Bachata music began again in the Sixties with the songs produced by Jose Manuel Calderon, this rhythm was not capable of compete with the recognition that Merengue used to have. Popular music serves as an id badge for certain social teams, www.magicaudiotools.com a badge that's worn with nice satisfaction. Its bonding mechanism can, North argues, ‘be useful to weak youngsters', regardless of any anti-social message it may proclaim. He commends style radio, such because the BBC's Asian Network, as being notably helpful.

Live performance Music: Many composers mixed jazz music elements with different music kinds such as classical and blues. Music during this time additionally spoke of nationalistic fervor. Among the composers whose works had been drastically appreciated have been George Gershwin (Rhapsody in Blue), Aaron Copland (Rodeo) and Dmitry Shostakovich (The Golden Age). You'll be able to hear parts of submit-‘Royals' pop in ‘Hands to Myself' and ‘Bad Liar' by Selena Gomez, ‘New Americana' and ‘Now or Never' by Halsey, ‘Gold' by Kiiara, ‘Right here' by Alessia Cara (the Grammy's Greatest New Artist), Troye Sivan, Banks - even ‘Clean House' and ‘Look What You Made Me Do' by Taylor Swift. But there is another excuse for that past altering occasions. Its name is Jack Antonoff. Pop, which is not synonymous with the time period fashionable music, arose out of rock'n'roll, people and beat music in the mid 50s USA. Nevertheless, Elvis Presley is also counted as a pioneer of the popular culture. The complexity of the original music fashion largely disappeared. In its place, easy harmonicas and series' of melodies straightforward to recollect had been launched, giving the populace higher entry to this music. With its catchy melodies the brand new style of pop was especially effectively obtained by the younger era.

On the one hand, we generally imagine biology refers to a hard and fast actuality. Our body is doing issues whether or not or not I believe it's doing these issues, no matter whether or not I'm conscious of them or understand them. It follows with this pondering that there are no privileged locations. Gravity functions the identical in Bangalore as in Paris. But at the identical time, the postmodern statement that our understanding of the world is conditioned by culture and historical past in ways in which we aren't even able to being aware of. The unknown unknowns of Donald Rumsfeld's amateur philosophizing could in the future hang-out us greater than his foreign coverage. This point is nicely taken, even if it must be balanced towards a backdrop of real waveforms and ear canals. After slapping on some reverb, the chamber strings sounded pretty lifelike, but before bouncing them I placed on my producer's hat (accessible at Asda shops for only £2.99) and added a dash of my unique keyboard patch to the combination to sweeten the sound. I despatched the composers two stereo information: a mix of my demo strings and their tough mix (so they might hear the arrangement in context), and a separate strings‑solely file so they could pinpoint its musical details. The relationship between music and hashish begins with understanding how music impacts the mind. In accordance with Michael Thaut , a professor of music and neurology at the University of Toronto, sound is processed from the spinal cord to the cortex. This means that the complete range of the central nervous system is activated after we take heed to a bit of music.Did not Arthur C. Clarke write a story about this? If I keep in mind, the researcher distilled standard music to a series of good" notes. For the centerpiece of his 1993 album, Billy Joel put collectively this stream-of-consciousness, gospel-influenced recording. It spent three weeks on the top of the pop singles chart and is likely one of the most uplifting hits of Joel's career. Typically a producer throws the whole lot they have into the arrangement, with the concept that pop music, by nature, ought to include every track you'll be able to cram and more. As a mixing engineer, you do have a little bit of freedom to mute an unnecessary sound—particularly if it is so outside the realm of at this time's pop that it might instantly detract from the mainstream expertise. You'll have listened to plenty of techno music whereas clubbing, but it is Detroit techno that is thought of to be the foundation of this type of music. Unlike the times of its emergence, the use of technology as we speak has tremendously enhanced the quality of techno model music and popularizing it amongst folks day-to-day. This was a spacey techno-trip - with a mild beat, so's dancers could come down" slowly. Aaa-ah. And as the Eighties gave solution to the Nineties, this evolved into TRANCE. Trance started, basically, as Ambient, but slowly developed into a more light type of Dance music in its personal right. And it had LYRICS. Which by definition (see MANNER above) made it POP.Future musicians can usually hear more sound than the common person, according to Gardner (2006). They could expertise their feelings auditorily. As an example, the drone of a spring rain or the out of tune E string on a guitar has the potential to turn into categorized fairly than heard in environmental bulk to those individuals. These sounds are related to emotion and will be reproduced, remembered, and referenced back to on command. You're right that numerous Okay-pop hate comes from racism, but I do not think this was hate. That is just stating reality. I am a Korean learning in US proper now and I can see that BTS is on loads of information and charts however it is just because of a particular group of fans, not widespread reputation. Individuals who like Kpop are still seen as weird like otakus, BTS has not modified that to date. Most Americans around me will not be BTS followers.

Dancing
It hurts your cheeks but it’s worth it. The best ladies to dance with are the ones that smile all the time. I’m guessing it also applies to men. On Friday after tango I did a bachata lesson. It’s popular and crowded. Younger demo than tango; lots of twenty-somethings. One of them, tall and skinny, was very ungainly. It may have been the first time she’d heard music. Anyway, she was so at home with her clumsiness. Provided commentary and laughed at herself the whole time; it was infectious and about the best dance I had all night. Tango, by contrast, is demanding. My internal dialogue: you should be better at this. If you understood more Spanish you’d follow instructions better. I hope Monica doesn’t ask me to dance again. It looked simple but I am doing it wrong. Why can’t I remember that step we did last night? This poor woman must be so bored. I should go and sit down. Later I might kill myself. And so on.
At one point the teacher asked if everyone understood more or less what to do, and I said I didn’t. At all. He explained it quickly in Spanish and I waved him off and went to sit down. ‘NO NO NO’ he said, and one of the students rushed up, stood right in front of me and put her arms out inviting the embrace. We danced. I worked it out, And as she walked off to dance with someone else she gave my hand an affectionate squeeze. It’s the human things that get you through.

Oh my god! New spot is so specific (in good way) and when I read "to do list" I feel quite guilty to ask because you have a lot of work. However, finally I decide to ask you about dance stuff because it is something I really want to know. Ok, then, Iwa, Bokuto, Noya and Aone s/o is latina, they begin to take bachata class together however bachata is... too much touchable for then (?) will boys end needy ? Are they good dancers? Thank you and kisses!
YA GIRL IS BACK AAAYYYYYYYY

i hope you guys like it!
if you like what i do and want to show your support, consider supporting me on ko-fi!
- Admin May
IWAIZUMI HAJIME
He would be hella nervous, especially at the beginning, when the students were watching the instructorsdance. He would have to dance in such close proximity to you, in front of somany people and he’d have to live with fumbling for dear life with the stepsand potentially embarrassing himself in front of complete strangers
His face was really red becausedamn that routine was hot and he’d have to get all up in your face to do itproperly
When you got into positionIwaizumi was trying his very hardest to put the lack of distance out of hismind.
It unfortunately did not workout.
With your body so close to him ittook all he had just to will his body to move to the rhythm of the music, letalone remember all the steps
Lord save this boy, his face wasso red after the session. I mean the dance steps in general weren’t THAT sexy, but like. Just. The WHOLE of you was just really sexy and Iwaizumi just didn’tknow how to deal with it???? If you were alone, then he would probably flirtyour socks off, but here?? In the middle of a sea of people, he felt yourpresence like a huge wave coming straight at him.
It was like. Really sexy andreally nerve-wracking at the same time
Panicking on the inside, butkeeping somewhat cool on the outside, he managed to lead you in the rightdirections with minor missteps.
He took it as a win, overall.
BOKUTO KOUTAROU
Bokuto is a very excitable personby nature, so when you suggested taking a beginner dance class for fun, hevisibly perked up at the thought of doing something you liked as a couple andsaid yes straight away
You’d told him that it was abachata class, but Bokuto didn’t bother looking it up. So when the instructorsstarted dancing a demo of the routine you were going to learn, he just slowlywent red, starting from his chest and rising up to his cheeks
His hands were shaking a littleas the instructors guided them to their proper places. The female instructorpushed you a little into him and Bokuto had to fight a scream and the urge toback away like a startled cat
During the solo instructions, hedid fine—didn’t look too weird or stiff—but when you partnered up again hesuddenly forgot to move because dangit should be a crime to be able to move your hips like that
You were actually reallyimpressed about how well he was doing—his steps were on time and he was REALLYgood at moving his hips. Sure, he was holding your hand way too tight, but itwas fine.
AONE TAKANOBU
Aone would legit be very quietduring the whole session. He would listen attentively and actually get his headin the game
I can’t say he wouldn’t bedistracted, but he has a really long attention span
Sometimes you’d catch himwatching you from across the room when the instructors split you up to teachyou respective choreo. Like, everyone else would be trying to dance the stepsand he was just behind everyone, still as a wall, and looking at you. If youcaught him, you’d give a little wave to each other before trying to followalong with the choreo again
Unlike Bokuto or Iwaizumi, he cankeep a cool head during partnering. The moves would be remembered throughmuscle memory, but throughout the whole dance he’d just be looking at you.
The whole time you silentlythought that it was nice that he kept his cool, and said so when you two werehanging out in your room after he took you home.
Weeeeeell, not exactly. In astraight face he said that nope—it was a bit difficult to keep his cool aroundyou while dancing. But then it was usually hard to read his stoic face so youcouldn’t really tell.

El Madrileño is more a blockbuster feature than an album; C. Tangana ’s most ambitious and fully-realized work to date. The record shows a side we haven’t really seen from the Spanish artist: introspective and self-conscious, brought forth through songs that fuse old-school styles like flamenco, bossa nova, corrido, bachata, and many others, paired with fresh beats and current production values. Everything jells into a delicately composed grand vision aided by a world-class international and intergenerational cast of talent.
Although work on El Madrileño started in 2019, its origins actually stretch back to a year prior with “Un Veneno,” his 2018 collaboration with Niño de Elche, and his first exploration of what he calls “organic roots music.” When 2020’s “Nunca Esto” went to number 1 in Spain, it reaffirmed his determination to a point that he scrapped a 15 songs urbano album in order to concentrate his efforts on bringing El Madrileño to life, as he tells Remezcla on a recent Zoom call.
Traveling throughout Latin America made him realize that he had a special connection to this kind of music. “[When] I went to Dominican Republic, I remember stopping in the streets where some old people were listening to bachata,” Tangana reminiscences. “Most people think I’m all about listening to El Alfa, hookah in hand at the club, and I love to do that, but listening to bachata right there awakened something in me. And the same thing happened to me with a ton of music during that trip.”
He enlisted a veritable army of collaborators to help him realize his vision. They span generations, from young upstarts like Omar Apollo and Ed Maverick to living legends like Gypsy Kings and José Feliciano. A highlight on the album includes “CAMBIA!,” a corrido track that features contributions by Carín León and Adriel Favela. “Adriel is my friend, so I sent him the track. I told him, ‘don’t judge me and don’t tell anyone but I wrote a corrido.’ It turns out he was touring the U.S. with his band, so he pulled over to a rest stop, got all his musicians to listen to my song and they made this video of them playing the song perhaps 20 minutes after I sent him the file.”

We present to you four essential contributors that make El Madrileño such an expansive work.
Alizzz (Producer)
Christian Quirante a.k.a. Alizzz is an integral part of Tangana’s incredible music. The producer has been at Tangana’s side since 2016. He describes El Madrileño as both an “epic journey” and an “experiment.”
“We call it a deconstruction; taking apart every genre and putting them back together like a puzzle.” Adventurous music made for some adventurous times. “We’ve run into trouble at every turn but we always manage to come out the other side.”
One of those challenges was expanding his role beyond his computer. He worked closely with Victor Martínez, Tangana’s live percussionist who took to task expanding the Tangana’s sound by writing part of the music on guitar and arranging live instruments. Alizzz was tasked to make sure everyone and everything helped the songs become their best versions.
“He has always been a genius,” Quirante says about Tangana. “He’s not afraid to face whatever comes his way. [El Madrileño] has a good chance of becoming a classic album in Spanish music.”
Santos Bacana (Art Direction)
Santos Bacana had a simple mission: Taking Tangana’s music to a unique visual plane. To achieve this, Tangana brought Bacana into the fold early on in the project’s creation, when he was recording demos. This led to a hurried and off-the-cuff working rhythm, a method far from Bacana’s “analytic” approach to art; in the end, he found the process “liberating.” For the directorial aspect of the job, Bacana skewed to a “discreet” vibe, framing Tangana far from the urbano aesthetics of the moment. “The music required that we show a new side of him,” says the director. “He’s coming from an emotive place, but we still wanted to keep that ‘asshole’ side that has been a part of him for a long time. We wanted to make him approachable while retaining his dark side.”
“I think one of his best characteristics is his intuition to find people to work with and boost their visions up,” Bacana says about Tangana. This crucial quality helped assemble his amazing team of collaborators.
Alex Turrión (Styling)
Alex Turrión had a very important task regarding the artistic process: he found clothes that represented a sober yet uniquely stylish wardrobe. Turrión had the fortune of constantly changing ideas with Tangana, working out small nods to visual references favored by the singer/rapper. “Since we’re close friends, It’s normal for him to send us the songs right as he’s recording them in the studio,” Turrión explains. “So really, we were already familiar with the music and it allowed us to generate ideas for the visuals.”
“It’s not like you sign up for a job and you’re there for a certain amount of days and then you’re done,” Turrión says. “It’s a constant activity and in the end, you manage to express yourself as well.”
Javier Ruíz (Cinematographer/Photographer)
The videos for each of the tracks on El Madrileño have a very distinct look achieved by Javier Ruiz, who brought to life the images that accompany the album. In the visuals, we are constantly confronted with hues of blue: each scene is framed in a cold manner with muted colors, similarly to scenes from classic Spanish cinema. This brings about an expanded feeling of what Tangana’s lyrics suggest: A more contemplative outlook.
Ruíz originally came on to the team with the video for “Nunca Estoy,” which was made remotely with Bacara directing. Working close to Tangana in a constant state of alert was like nothing else for Ruíz, as he describes it, and he expresses pride in their ability to work within a short window of time, making them bring their A-game to every step of the process. “I think that we knew how to solve everything in a very effective way. I can’t think of something I would go back and redo because it didn’t come out right. That was the modus operandi. There was no time to second guess yourself.”
