Coffee Shop AU?
So I decided to combine a few of my prompts that you lovely people gave me. One Anon wanted Babystoph in a cafe in Vienna, learning how to be charming and adorable while another wanted Amy Adams as the female character opposite Christoph. I combined the two of them to form this monstrosity and I hope you guys enjoy it! Also, the character of Tyler was inspired by Brad Pitt in Burn After Reading. Enjoy!
She was by the window in her usual spot with her usual book when he finally got round to her. Christoph quietly cleared his throat to get her attention and offered her a shy smile when she looked up from her book.
“Hi,” she greeted with a smile of her own. He nodded at her, heart fluttering in his chest. God help him, she was so cute.
“Same as usual, yes?” He asked. He didn’t need to pull out his notebook. He had her order memorized. She nodded at him.
“Along with the cheesy pick-up lines on my napkin,” she teased a little. He choked back a bark of nervous laughter which made him sound like a strangled gazelle. Blushing and in a hurry to duck out of there before embarrassing himself any further, he headed to the back to make her coffee. It was a simple routine for the two of them. She would come in, order a small espresso and apfelstrudel and then she’d read for the better part of an hour before class. She was majoring in music, she’d told him before and she wanted to be a singer. She enjoyed classical music and Sondheim musicals (she joked about giving her right arm to be in Sweeney Todd, a sentiment he completely understood) and the fact that she was cute as hell absolutely did not help matters any. He’d always been a sucker for blue eyes, and hers could pull a person right in and drown them. Throw in her long light auburn hair and sunny smile and no sane person stood a chance. Which of course was why his rival waiter/part time friend and full time annoyance, an American exchange student named Tyler, was also crushing on her.
“Dude, you are way too obvious with how into her you are,” aforementioned All-American Tyler said as he passed by with a scribbled order not even a doctor would be able to read. “She probably thinks you’re creeping on her.”
“I am not creeping on her,” Christoph muttered back feeling himself blush fiercely. “At least I’m not making hearts in the crème and writing god-awful pick-up lines on her napkin like some people I know.” He cast his coworker a frosty sideways glance. Tyler just shrugged and rubbed the back of his head, messing up his already messy, yet still perfectly styled hair. Christoph honestly couldn’t understand how the kid could just roll out of bed and still look like a movie star.
“Whatever you say, my dude. If you don’t make a move soon, you’re gonna miss out and she’s gonna just waltz right out of your life.” He gave him an easy-going smile. “See, my moves work on all the ladies. I’ve got that street savior-faire going for me, you feel?” He offered a smile and a wink to a young lady who had come over to pay. She stared at him for a solid minute before paying and walking away without another word. “She’ll totally call me,” Tyler said as Christoph shot him a patented Look. “Also put your eyebrows down, bro. I can feel them mocking me, I swear.”
“I don’t understand you,” Christoph said as he went about making the espresso. “How am I too obvious at first, but then too distant? It makes no sense.”
“No one ever does, my guy. Accept it. Embrace it. I am anti-understandable.” Tyler grinned at him. “And I don’t have to make sense. I’m hotter than you. Also, the coffee for table five is burning.” Christoph swore under his breath and made a mad dash to rescue said coffee.
The next day, she came in again as she always did and Tyler managed to wrangle his way into taking her order. Mostly because Christoph was left to translate what a Swiss customer was asking (no one could ever understand the Swiss, not even if they spoke German). As he delivered the apfelstrudel and the coffee, Tyler wagged his eyebrows at her and handed her a napkin. She thanked him and as she cut into the strudel, she paused and then laughed, her face pink. Christoph passed by a few minutes later just to see how she was faring when she caught him by the sleeve.
“So, I have a question for you.” She said. Christoph blinked in reply.
“All right,” he trailed off.
“Is Tyler this obnoxious with every customer, or is it just me?” She asked, showing him the napkin. Christoph would have face-palmed, but refrained because he was polite like that. Most Austrians were when they didn’t mean it. Tyler had written “Girl, if you were a book, you’d be fine print” on her napkin. “Awful, just awful.” She said with a bright smile and a shake of her head.
“Do you…do you want me to talk to him?” Christoph asked as his brain finally worked with his mouth. About time too, Jesus. She shook her head.
“Oh no, it’s fine. I was just curious, that’s all.” She brushed her hair back. “Just let him know that I appreciate it, but I’m not interested.” Christoph nodded, unsure of what to say. She just smiled at him and stood up, strudel and coffee decimated. As she left to pay, she handed him a scrap of paper, winked, and then headed up to the register. Absolutely confused, he glanced down at the scrap and found that she’d left him a message:
“I’m willing to bet that your pick-up lines aren’t nearly as cheesy as the ones Tyler uses. Give them a try on me sometime! – Diana” And she’d left her phone number.
Score one for Christoph.

Hey! I've been really into Christoph lately, and saw that you uploaded some Parole Chicago stuff. Do you know where I could watch it with English subtitles? Thanks and love your blog! xx
Sorry currently Parole Chicago episodes are not available with English subs. You may know this already but Maggy uploaded all 13 episodes on vimeo [X]. Hey at least you can see how adorable Ede can be through the entire series.
