My little chicky turns 7 today! 🥳🎂. I say it every year, but what a joy it is to be her Mom. My Eleanor fills my cup just as fast as she drains it, and she loves with all of her heart. ❤️ #babysistereleanor https://www.instagram.com/p/CV3CNyFpU92/?utm_medium=tumblr

My baby turns 6 today!! I used to kill myself with time consuming Pinterest-inspired birthday celebrations for the girls. With COVID (and really life in general right now) I’ve shifted towards a low-key attitude. An early morning run to the grocery store for balloons and donuts... and the end result? EXACTLY the same! Nothing but smiles and excitement 🎂🎈 #babysistereleanor https://www.instagram.com/p/CHLKuUpH5fG/?igshid=1svl6prhkfm92

Yes, it has been difficult and many times extremely frustrating to connect to the district system...but I really will miss this special 1-1 time with my littlest girl. #quarantinechronicles #babysistereleanor https://www.instagram.com/p/CE9kW1dHxHl/?igshid=1iw7ev3dmjx7m

Eleanor {2 1/2 years}
Oh my Eleanor. There are so many words I can use to describe her. Feisty. Passionate. Emotional. Silly. Hilarious. Affectionate. Stubborn.
Her vocabulary has grown leaps and bounds these last few months. Before when we’d ask her to repeat a word, it would go something like this:
Me: Eleanor can you say “happy”? Eleanor: Yep! Me: Eleanor can you say “paper”? Eleanor: “Yep!
...and so forth. Now she is actually repeating words and phrases. I will miss the “yep!” stage, but am so proud of her for learning more words!
With our main provider out on her own personal maternity leave, we were lucky enough to find another Mama that runs a daycare out of her home (just a few minutes from my office). In true Eleanor form, she didn’t have much of a timid period and welcomed the change with open arms. She’s such a snuggly little girl (especially in the mornings!) and when I dropped her off each morning, she snuggled right into the the neck of our new provider. We are still going to her once a week, so I’m happy that relationship is being maintained!
As we head into the summer season, I am much looking forward to watching Eleanor grow and blossom even more. She is definitely a fan of the outdoors (she’ll play outside for hours if we let her) and exploring new territory. Where Daisy was always weary of new things at first, Eleanor definitely has no fear in diving right in. It’s funny how the girls are so different in this way.
Current favorite foods are: spaghetti, pickles, and rotisserie chicken (she eats this like candy!)  Her favorite movies vary from week to week. She went through a HUGE Moana phase (we’re still coming out of it) and she is currently watching Wall-E (really random) on repeat every day.  Bedtime routine is extremely important and we’ve seemed to get it down fairly well now.
She is one of the most stubbornly independent little girls I’ve ever met. She constantly needs to “help” with every action...i.e. buckling her seat belt, climbing into the car by herself (I think I’ve finally taken this away from her), opening the fridge and putting away her milk, putting on her diaper, closing doors...etc. And by “help” I mean she screams “ I HELP” whenever we do something.  She’s also very opinionated when it comes to putting on clothes in the morning. For a good while she was OBSESSED with the Hawaiian dresses I bought for the girls last summer, and refused to take it off (she’d pull it out of the hamper and put it on over her clothes) to the point where we’d have to hide it.
All in all, she is just a funny, fun-loving little girl. We probably coddle her a bit (definitely more than we did Daisy) because she’ll always be our “baby” but we wouldn’t have it any other way!!

Life Updates {Daisy -  6 1/2 years, Eleanor - 2 years}
It’s officially February!
The month of January had an interesting start with all of the Snow Days that we had called. The school district ended up with a total of 6 Snow Days. Luckily my work is pretty flexible and I was able to work from home for several of those days (also preventing me from having to make the commute in that mess) and Chandi took Daisy a couple of days as well. Now that the major snowfall is [hopefully] behind us, we are falling back into a good rhythm.
Daisy Updates:
She is thriving in school, and is one of the top readers in her class. Her homework is getting harder, but when she sits and puts her mind to it, she excels at it too. Her handwriting has improved dramatically from Kindergarten and she’s an excellent speller. It is so exciting to see her doing so well at school.  Socially, she doesn’t seem to have the same core of “girlfriends” that she had last year, but she seems to be well-liked and adjusted.
After doing three consecutive years of ballet, and soccer the previous 6 months, we are currently doing no extracurricular activities. It is weird to not have an activity for her to do, so we are trying to fill our weekends with other activities. It is challenging in the Winter, so we are looking forward to Spring and being able to spend more time outside.  She’s old enough to play actual board games, so it’s been fun teaching her how to play.  She also really enjoys watching me play Angry Birds on my phone, haha!
Daisy is an excellent big sister, and I think she really enjoys helping take care of Eleanor. I do try and do “big girl” activities with her one-on-one, and I love that we can do more as she gets older. She still is my #1 buddy!
Eleanor Updates:
Eleanor is at the brink of her “Terrible Two’s”...I say “brink” because I don’t think we’re fully there yet! She is loud, stubborn, and very particular about a lot of things. I don’t know if it’s because she’s our “baby” but it’s hard to take her seriously when she throws her little fits...we just find them so cute! I’m sure that’ll wear off eventually, but for now she’s still our little baby girl.
The picky eating phase is in full-force and highly frustrating. I was hoping we’d have more time with her eating anything and everything! I have discovered that offering ketchup (with every meal) can be key to getting her to eat.
She still doesn’t have a ton of words in her vocal vocabulary, but we find other ways to communicate. We’ve started to learn what certain phrases mean (and sometimes they’re dual-meaning phrases keeping things interesting). She definitely can let us know what she wants (and doesn’t want)!
Favorite movies are alternating between Monsters Inc., Wreck it Ralph, and Frozen. She’s been on a definite Frozen kick lately.
Her “stuff” consists of two small fleece blankets, her Curious George stuffed animal, and a Finding Dory stuffed animal. By “stuff” I mean we don’t go to daycare without all four items, and we don’t have naptime/bedtime without all four either.
We still have her in her crib, and although she can hoist her leg up to the top rail, she’s still not close to climbing out. I have a feeling she won’t last as long as Daisy, but we’ll wait and see!  Bedtime routine has changed dramatically in the last few months - instead of having to rock her to sleep, we can now lay her down wide awake. She knows the drill and as long as we don’t deviate from it, she’s good to go.
