ROUND 1
laurie & annie propaganda:
OK JUST LOOK AT THESE TWO AND TELL ME THEY AREN'T GIRLFRIENDS REGARDLESS OF THE TIMELINE REGARDLESS OF THE ITERATION (1978 vs RZ) also the classic Final Girl and Best Friend duo never fails, it never fails Annie is like the ONLY victim of the original babysitter murders the Laurie genuinely mourns for most of the time, these two are so connected. also. lesbians. just look at them. lesbians. yeah <3
baby jane & blanche propaganda:
The ULTIMATE toxic sister duo.

BABY JANE HUDSON
BABY JANE HUDSON
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) Bette Davis
Baby Jane Hudson is a successful child actor in vaudeville; she performs with her father whilst her sister Blanche watches backstage. She is her father’s favourite child and is spoilt. Blanche envious of her sister’s fame is comforted by her mother who tells her that one day that she too will achieve stardom. Their parents die in the late 1910s from a flu and the sisters move to Hollywood to live with their aunty. Their aunt favours Blanche over Jane, Blanche becomes a successful actress whilst Jane finds it difficult to get lead roles and works as an extra in Blanche’s films. Hollywood sees Jane as a has-been and her adult career is a failure.
One night at a party, Jane criticizes Blanche and Blanche leaves the party in tears. Blanche is in a car accident which leaves her paralysed and Jane is found three days later intoxicated with no memory of what took place. The accident puts an end to Blanche’s career, lack of income the sisters move in together and Jane becomes Blanche’s carer.
Jane is mentally ill and an alcoholic, but clings onto her childhood by wearing her hair in curls, make-up and wears childish dresses. A television network plays Blanche’s films which sends Jane into a jealous rage. Jane’s anger increases when she finds out that Blanche is planning on selling their home and having her committed into a mental hospital.
In the hopes of becoming a famous entertainer once again, Jane steals Blanche’s money to pay for a musician to play piano whilst she sings and dances. She sings her signature song ‘I’ve Written a Letter to Daddy’.
Jane removes Blanche’s telephone and makes her sister a prisoner in her bedroom. She kills Blanche’s pet parakeet and serves the dead bird to her on a platter as well as a dead rat. Blanche’s cleaner threatens to report Jane to authorities; Jane kills her with a hammer. Jane’s musician discovers Blanche tied up and gagged in her bedroom and he calls the police. Jane flees with Blanche to the beach, there Blanche reveals to Jane that the accident wasn’t Jane’s fault and she had planned to run Jane down but the car instead hit the metal gates outside their mansion. Blanche blamed the accident on Jane so she could look after her. Jane loses the plot and turns into ‘Baby Jane’ and starts dancing in front of people at the beach and the police find Blanche on the sand and come to assist her.

If I’m being honest, my crazy family is probably why I love melodrama and a heightened sense of reality in media. Well, it’s partially just what I find funny; I like theatricality in general. But I remember when I first watched What Ever Happened to Baby Jane and checked out the reviews. Between various praises, I saw Baby Jane Hudson described as an an exaggerated caricature, and I was sitting there scratching my head like “no that’s my sister”
