Actually, I think we should talk about Tubbo during Purgatory.

We have to, because the heavens know that Tubbo himself will not.

Tubbo who spent the whole time he was in Purgatory clinging to the certainty that soon enough it would all be over and they could go back to how things were.

Tubbo who believed in keeping things fair, into holding themselves accountable for their behaviors, who tried so hard to make people listen to him, who tried to make sense of things even when chaos reigned around him.

We have to talk about how Tubbo refused to believe in a world where things would never be alright after Purgatory. Tubbo who tried so hard to talk, to make deals, to protect those who elected him leader but who always, always tried to help everyone else too.

We have to talk about how Tubbo would condemn himself without thinking twice if that meant that the children would be saved, that his friends would be okay.

We have to talk about how Tubbo only ever wanted to help. How he has carried the guilt off what happened in the maze since that day, we have to talk about how Tubbo is desperate to fix what he sees as his mistake, to save his godchildren, how he never forgot the trust Philza placed into him.

We have to talk about how Tubbo refused to leave the children until there was no other choice. We have to talk about how Tubbo has always, always believed and trusted Philza, more than the man himself does, that in those last moments he knew, without a doubt that Philza could save them, that he would.

We have to talk about how Tubbo will never talk about Purgatory.

About how he will not acknowledge his pain, his suffering, the way he felt like responsibility was crushing him as he tried desperately to be heard, to make things alright for everyone, to remind them that they are fighting for the same end goal.

We have to talk because Tubbo will never acknowledge his trauma. He will push it down, down, down, until he can pretend it didn't happen, and even if it did that it didn't affect him at all. Tubbo who focuses on what he can control, on what he can do, who laughs and ignores the worried looks.

We have to talk about how Tubbo is thinking about those who didn't make it to the boat, but that he refuses to acknowledge the possibility that they are gone. That he believes, and he has to, that they will find their way back, that in the end of the day everything will be alright.

We have to talk about how Tubbo will push forward, will refuse to look back, because if he does.... Well who knows what will be left of him.

Tbh I have not worked on chapter 8 yet at all, I'm still bouncing ideas around in my head. The story is marinating.
