So many things about Babs and her community that I think about. Like even her work as a librarian would have been influenced by how to support the vulnerable people in her community. Like it isn’t just about getting people to read and the joy of reading etc. because books and those ideas themselves don’t mean there is always action. Also the library offers great resources and given Babs interest in community and the work you see her get into later.. It would have been great if when Babs was originally in a relationship with Jason Bard if together they would have had projects and brought attention to disability awareness. Also given both their parents there would have been other things they would have cared about too like how to help single mothers and rehabilitation etc. Like it’s just amazing that so much of her work has been community based outside of identity and could have been more so if they have touched on more things as well.
#idk I’m thinking of something somebody said#writers do get their views and roots from somewhere#like the idea about Babs just making a guess about wires when she is reminiscing in Cassandra’s Batgirl run#babs is highly intelligent and has the map of Gotham tattooed to her heart#The diminishing of her skills isn’t new and it can go as far back as her original tenure as Batgirl#and then you KNOW why it was written a certain way#her time as Oracle was also written by no wheelchair users so there is also that to consider too when reading#also going back to writers like I feel like you really need to think why sometimes write things instead of just following eveything they say#like do you think it makes sense? would certain choices make sense for a character?#biggest example is the mess that ended up being Jason Todd#and the hate he got as Robin because of where he came from and how writers felt about that#also how writers felt about it too when writing Red Hood#the racism with Talia etc#the list goes on and on#barbara gordon#delete later
