closed starter for @hauntcdtales (hero) location: my little peony
While it wasn't part of her job description, Babs liked to buy a small bouquet for the front counter of the bakery - she thought it livened the place up even if she needed to buy a new one every month since she somehow couldn't keep them alive. She expected to run into anyone other than Hero - what did an influencer need with flowers? Unless they had a new girlfriend, of course.
"Fancy seeing you here," Bab's voice was soft - she didn't want to draw that much attention, but it was more awkward if they just avoided each other until they couldn't anymore. "I didn't know influencers cared about flowers."

closed starter for @hauntcdtales (lucky) location: Cloud Nine
The club was buzzing that night, and it was one of the only places Babs felt like she couldn't fuck things up. There were no rules to follow when dancing - save for the Golden Rule, of course - and while her face had a sheen of sweat on it from all the movement, she decided to sidle up to the bar anyway, laughing a little at something one of her friends had said, head turned so she didn't notice how close she was standing to Lucky; shoulders bumped unnecessarily hard, and her face crumpled, immediately turning to apologize to whoever was probably mad at her for bumping their drink.
"I am so sorry - do you need me to buy you another drink?"

closed starter for @oftatteredwings (sunny) location: the grind
"I hate to be one of those people that can't function without their coffee," Babs sighed, adjusting her bag on her shoulder. "But I can barely function as a human most days - at least I can excuse anything before the coffee on the lack of it - right?"

closed starter for @hauntcdtales (lucky) location: lazy daze
It wasn't even that Babs smoked a lot - but rather, she was on the lookout for someone who did. She'd been casually walking past the shop as often as she could, and when she finally spotted Lucky, she felt her heart jump into her throat, but slipped into the shop anyway, taking a few deep breaths before situating herself next to him. "Fancy meeting you here - at least there's no alcohol to accidentally spill all over you this time."

closed starter for @urbnlgnds (auggie) location: babs' apartment
"Do you know what I think could be fun?" Babs had magazines spread out all across her coffee table, various party recommendations splayed out on every page. "If we went to the New Years party the club is hosting this year. As much fun as it is to get trashed in our apartments.... I have a good feeling about this."

"You're way better at this than me; I always forget to add what we have waiting in the back," Babs sighed. She didn't often come in on her days off, but she was craving a cinnamon bun. "I can wait for the buns; that's why I'm here anyway."
closed starter / location: great bun's bakery (@drcamland, babs!)
"what can i get for you?" ayla asks the other, gesturing to the sweet treats in front of her. she liked to give people options, "if none of these take your fancy. i've got some cinnamon buns cooling down in the back".

"Let's hope I never do!" Babs snorted. She had her own plethora of bad days, though more often than not it ended with her whining instead of ripping someone's head off. "The day can only go up from here, right?"
"Oh, Babs, that clearly means you've never seen me on a bad day," Sunny countered with a laugh and a shake of their head. They certainly weren't the nicest in their younger years, when they'd been consumed with the idea of winning and getting completely out of control because they lost the ability to. "Okay, fine, it's a good excuse. I'll go with that."

"I have a feeling you put in more work than he does." What Babs didn't know was who Denny really was - she was part of his carefully curated audience who never saw the real him. Which of course was fine, but it made her far more wary of him as a person. "But I suppose we all are like that." Her dad needed her help, even if he didn't want to admit it. "I guess I just don't know him like you do."
"You? Working? I'm shocked!" her tone was light and airy; finally getting a chance to tease him back. "A bartender with a drinking problem? That sounds.... like a terrible combination." At Hero's request however, she paused. Would going out with Auggie, who had a raging crush on Denny, and Hero, the one person she kept gravitating back to despite how much the universe made it clear that they weren't meant to be together? "Yeah, sure," she shrugged as if she hadn't fought for her life thinking about it. "That should be fun - Auggie knows Denny anyway, I'm sure she'd be down."
"If you saw what he did behind the scenes maybe you'd change your mind on that," Hero retorted with a slight frown. He tended to be defensive when it came to Denny especially. Maybe a bit overly so, but that was his job wasn't it? It was obvious he cared beyond what the job called for but he figured that's what made him good at it. Also Denny was a special case.
The slight frown was replaced with a smile and he was sure to step into her space. He couldn't help it, really. "You know I always try," said with a wink and then he nodded along with her quick update. "Work, work, and more work. Though I did get the time to go out once or twice. Made friends with a bartender, even, though I think he may have a drinking problem." Nice enough bloke, though and if there was anything Hero could use more of, it was friends. He craved to be social, to be loved but that seemed to be an endless search (one he was at fault for not ending more than once). "We should all go out sometime. I could get this Beckett fellow out I'm sure or maybe even Denny."

Something about the way Lucky rambled made Babs think that they maybe weren't so different at the end of the day - both seemed to draw the short straw in life. She laughed a little, her grin a little more relaxed. "Yes, word. It's usually easier to just come with friends. As you can see, I'm prone to accidents. Last thing you want is your date to spill a full beer down your front, right?" Her expression shifted ever so slightly - she knew better than to try to act too coy, but it was still tempting. "You think I'm too pretty to be here without a date? Well, maybe you can change that." Waving to the bartender, her eyes lit up. "That sounds fun - not stupid. We'll have two purple drinks with the flashing ice cube - we'll leave it up to you to figure out what that is." Turning back to Lucky as the bartender started on the drinks, she looked pleased that he wasn't drinking something horrific. "We'll have to toast to our misfortunes that at least will give us a fun story to tell, right?"
"Oh, word?" He was kind of surprised she was there without a date or some kind of significant other. Then again he was always kind of lucky like that. "What are you drinking?" Lucky waved a hand to flag down the bartender quick then turned his attention back on her to listen to what she was saying. "Nah, it's easy to run into people in places like these. Crowded and shit." He motioned his hand around to the people nearby. Lucky was always more anxious in the big group situations, even if he liked being around people. He did his best not to let it show too much. "That's a crime, like not to be offensive or anything, but you look way too good to ever be without a date. Even if it's just for fun or whatever." He often found himself being the 'just for fun' guy so he knew it well. A transition between a failure and a potential forever. Lately he was getting tired of it. "Uhh, I don't even know," he looked at the empty glass now on the bartop. "It was something purple with a flashing light ice cube in it." Lucky laughed. "Stupid, right?"

"I would not call what Denny does talent," Babs wrinkled her nose. She didn't really have anything against the dark haired boy, but anyone could pick up a camera and vlog. It wasn't really that hard. "But I guess if anyone can keep someone like Denny on track, it's you."
Was she happy to see him? It was a mixed bag. There was no denying the way her heart sped up when she saw him, but she also knew that they tended to follow the same song and dance every time. "You sure know how to flatter a girl," she wanted it to sound more haughty, but the blush was already creeping across her face. "Um. I've been okay. Trying to keep things afloat, for both me and my dad. Working, you know. Going out with Auggie. The usual stuff. How've things been with you?"
"Suppose it is," he retorted with a hum. Hero couldn't tell whether Babs was happy to be having the conversation with him or looking to start something. Either way, he was likely going to be a willing participant. "Someone has to keep things on track so that talented brain of his can focus on work, right?" Hero was glad to do it, too. In fact he liked being able to set him and others up for success. Denny was more like a friend or family member than a client, though. He cared about him the same way, at least.
A smile tugged at his lips when he saw her bite at her lower lip. "It was a joke, love," he pointed out. "I think your smiling face brightens the place up plenty but I hope they pay you extra for going the extra mile to bring in customers." He paused a moment, glancing down to debate whether he should ask or not, then back up again. "How've you been, then?"

She grit her teeth the minute Hero spoke - it was infuriating how cavalier he always was. But that was the problem - he didn't ever really seem to take Babs or her feelings to heart. "Well, I suppose that's what Denny has a manager for." It wasn't exactly a secret who Hero worked for, mostly because Denny tended to showcase everyone in his life in his vlogs in one way or another.
Biting her lower lip to resist the satisfaction of laughing at his joke, Babs rolled her eyes instead. "Very funny - that flour isn't exactly what you'd call colorful or inviting, so I have to come up with something else to brighten the place up."
He hadn't missed her coming in through the door. Even in his peripheral it wasn't hard to spot Babs. A blonde vision burned into the back of his eyelids for much longer than he'd readily admit. The curse of being too scared to put a label on anything or make any kind of commitment in his personal life put a damper on any kind of love life he hoped to have. Chemistry and feelings be damned. Perhaps he was less afraid and more stubborn.
"Hmmm? Oh, look who it is," he greeted like he hadn't already known she was there. "Hello to you to, beautiful." Hero offered a quick smile and a slight shrug. "Not sure if they care but their manager does." A quick wink. "Gifts for networking and to say thank you, aesthetics, or just something nice to brighten my kitchen counter in the morning." Not that he was there enough to enjoy it. Constantly on the move, not because he had to be but more due to the inability to sit still. "Isn't this the wrong kind of flower for a bakery?"

Thankfully, Lucky's ramblings paused her usual spiral of apologies and trying to figure out why it was always her. "Oh - what?" Babs blink a little. "I mean- no, I'm just here with friends - I haven't even gotten another one yet." She shook her head, shoulders relaxing a little. "I swear, if there was an award for clumsiest person alive, I'd be the one getting it." She took a moment to take a deep breath, calm her racing thoughts and heart (both from the dancing and close encounter). "Probably why I'm usually dateless." As the person next to her moved, she hopped up on the stool, making it easier for the pair to talk now. "What were you drinking?"
Lucky felt bad anytime he wasn't hyping up his friend Macon's club but there was a guest dj at Club Nine and he wasn't going to miss it. Plus he'd met up with a couple fans earlier in the night and some new friends followed, which made for fun night overall. So much so he could barely notice the buzz of anxiety that usually sparked beneath his skin throughout the day. He was at the bar by himself, getting another drink and taking some time to watch the dj make the crowd move like a wave. Lucky wasn't much for dancing but he loved a good beat and watching other people do it.
"Shit," he took a step back when the drink fell, more concerned about his MSCHF shoes that weren't expensive in the eyes of most collectors but two fifty was up there for him. "Ah, nah, you're good. I should be getting you one right? Unless, you're here with someone, I ain't looking to get knocked out for getting someone else's date a drink." He laughed, stumbling over his words a little coming face to face with someone so hot. The luck that she bumped into him, too. It was good to know his name still held some truth.

"Please - I don't think anyone has the ability to tear into you - you're so nice," Babs laughed. "No, I mean like, if I royally fuck something up or nearly twist my ankle from tripping on the sidewalk or something. Stuff that normally people judge me for - but if I just say I haven't had my coffee yet, it's a great excuse that people relate to."
"You can excuse that, sure," said Sunny, casting a glance back toward their friend and laughing gently. "But if that means you're about to rip into me or something before they hand you that cup, that I won't excuse." They were teasing, smile on their face bright.
