i don’t think we talk enough about how in zero hour, jack genuinely believes his team has been captured by ba’al:

ba’al, who brutally tortured and killed jack repeatedly, and now jack thinks he’s got his hands on carter and daniel and teal’c and could be doing god knows what to them. i’ve said before that the show doesn’t go into his trauma from abyss enough, and having to deal with that on top of all his new responsibilities— because he can’t worry just about sg-1 anymore. he’s responsible for the entire base and everyone on it. so he can’t afford to think about it too directly, because otherwise i don’t think he’d be able to function.

as an aside, i do love how everyone else stands behind him:

anyway, it really bothers me how the show addresses (or rather, doesn’t address) jack’s trauma from ba’al. that’s his team who could be enduring the same unspeakable horrors he did, and there’s almost nothing he can do to save them, and we only get the barest glimpses into what he must be going through. i know his flippancy when talking to ba’al in this ep is a coping mechanism and i love it, but i kind of wanted to see him break down just a little bit. maybe a single manly tear or two. come on jack let me see your pain

Stargate Character Analysis

Based on if they would do the caramelldansen dance when it comes on at the shindig

Jack: no because he doesn’t know it but wouldn’t even if he did

Sam: yes and she would encourage everyone else to do it though not aggressively

Daniel: depends on his sobriety levels. No up until about the 1.5 beer mark, grudgingly until the three beer mark, yes at all points after

Teal’c: yes but he thinks it’s some sort of weird traditional thing. He sees no difference between Caramelldansen and the National Anthem

Jonas: yes and he also thinks it’s traditional. He aggressively gets people to join in. He really likes the song

Cam: no he refuses because he thinks it’s ridiculous

Vala: refuses initially but then realizes that the song fucking slaps and the dance is the most important part of it

General Hammond: you might think he doesn’t know it but his grand daughters showed it to him. He will do it but only for a second so you gotta make sure you watch

Apophis: no and he commits 6 counts of space war crimes while everyone’s distracted

Ba’al: he would but it would be very half-assed and he would also manage to commit space war crimes during the song some how

Stinky pete: he unplugs the stereo and is beaten to death by an angry mob (best possible timeline)

Hi, i’ve not been in the stargate fandom, but i have seen it a long time ago so i present to you this ship: ba’al x jack o’neill. Thoughts?

I do not ship it. I have been a hardcore Sam/Jack shipper since before I knew what "shipping" was, and cannot muiltiship this particular lad. Also I haven't watched SG-1 in ages.

HOWEVER

Ba'al and Jack do have a deeply antagonistic relationship, but in a fun way. Would it be at all healthy? Absolutely not. But it would be the fun sort of toxicity, and Jack would have that emotional buffer he doesn't have with Sam. Thank you for the ask! IO am going to chew on this.
