doctor/bad wolfy rose + time lady mia meditation on parenthood (i headcanon the time lord doctor and the metacrisis having the same telepathic signature. which i think would be super hard for mia. like can you imagine constantly thinking a beloved parent is with you before remembering they've been dead for centuries? and for the doctor to constantly feel like he has a daughter again, except he got the grief and torture package instead of the pleasant retirement universe? a delicious angsty but hopeful snacky.)

riverrose sekrit favrit crackship otp forever (i think it's probs likely that an all powerful cosmic entity trying to coexist with mortals without melting everyone's brains would have some struggles being present and making herself understood.)

In 2018, I made some outfits for the Celestion-5 crew and then proceeded to draft a whole story idea around them going undercover. It featured a bunch of plot beats, new characters, the whole nine yards.

If I remember correctly, the only reasons I didn't write this one out is because A) it was long, B) I was working on another long story idea (look out for it in Arc 2: Mars!), and C) this was before I fully decided to structure Galactiquest as a novel. I've been excited to make it back to this storyline, but I knew it would take a while.

Anyway, tada! Now I'm here. I still really like most of the original outfits, but some of them needed tweaking. Plus, I wanted to draw full outfits for the ones that were half-bodies.

There's a few more characters I need to design, but now that this is taken care of, I can work on the cover!

Notes under the cut:

-I don't usually know what to do when drawing footwear, so I'm glad I was able to make everyone's shoes unique. I probably won't end up drawing them in-story, but hey! At least I know what they look like in case I have to.

-Aiden and Mia? Literally perfect. I changed nothing about their designs except for giving them shoes. In fact, Mia still has the purse and phone. I just didn't know how to fit them into this sketch.

-Leon and Roxie were mostly perfect, I just needed to simplify some things so I could redraw them without crying. Leon also has a jet-pack backpack.

-...Actually, I think the section around Leon's wrist should be red. Hopefully I remember that when it comes time to draw him.

-I associate every character with a color, and Emil's and Angelo's are red and orange respectively. Their original outfits didn't reflect that in my opinion, so I swapped some colors around.

-Even back when I first drew this, I wasn't fully satisfied with Lorenzo's and Jun's outfits. They needed a full rehaul. It was a good excuse for me to give Lorenzo a fashion cape.

-For most of the transparent sections, like glasses, I used overlay and multiply, except for Mia's skirt, which I just colored it at 50% opacity. This is mostly for me to remember later. Jun's probably took me the longest to figure out, but I'm really happy with the results.

well for a good long while it has been reliable ole cwilbur. lately i am very excited to give leon and mia more love though because oh wow have i enjoyed what i've gotten to write of them so far <3 (actually the three of them are so fucking similar in so many ways that i die laughing every time i think about it)

how do i even describe it. it's like that moment where they're like. you have problems and so do i and nothing in life is easy but i'm still here for you. i still love you. we can do this together if you'll just let me in. maybe i should jsut call it the patented c!crime cigarette scene bc i swear i keep writing it as character a smoking and being emo and character b joining them and being like. i wish you'd stop hurting yourself but i'm not going to leave you alone. i'm explaining this badly. but you get it i think.

✅ What’s something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don’t mean to?

did answer something similar for dee but again i will point to the patented c!crime cigarette scene. i have a feeling it will persist in spirit with leon in future fics. i've already got one outlined for the werewolf au it's truly funny i just write one fic over and over and over. i am a one trick pony.

S Tier -

You'll Understand When You're Older Listen, I don't know why this song gets so little love, but it's a travesty. Lyrically, it's even better storytelling than Sex Sells. The wistful sadness in some of the lines? The lines that could be angry if they were read just a little different? The story and the play on words used throughout? It's Sex Sells but written with a little more purpose and and clarity. Also, it is without debate, the best vocal track Lovejoy has recorded. Wilbur isn't too far back in the mix, he isn't forcing his voice out of his natural range too much, there's no cracks and a smoothness to the vocals that you don't get on other tracks. I could listen to the guitars in the background all day.

Sex Sells - Everyone's favorite child. First time we saw Wilbur really pulling out the vignette style lyric and shocking in the complexity and range of vocals and lines throughout the song. Absolute stand out on the EP it's on and one of the tracks Lovejoy, as a band, seem to gel the most.

A Tier (This Song Owns My Heart) -

Model Buses - Wilbur's best political writing on Pebble Brains was the more subtle stuff. The Fall was like hitting someone with a hammer and Model Buses was like a slap in the face hidden behind a smile. The musical break in Model Buses is the best of the "jingle melodies" Wilbur's ever written.

Oh Yeah, You Gonna Cry? - Another song people seem to sleep on. The lyrics are fucking great. They're so clever and Wilbur sings them with a confidence we've literally never heard him try out in a song before now. One of the best choruses Lovejoy has done.

Saline Solution - Good lyrics, most melodic and polished of all the YCGMA songs.

Your Sister Was Right - Best vocal performance on YCGMA.

B Tier (I Love This Song A Lot) -

Concrete - First listen of this song I was a little indifferent because I think the vocal performance on the chorus is a little weak. Lyrics and energy really elevated it for me. It's also my partner's favorite Wilbur Soot song and I have to give it points for that alone. It's one of the tightest, production wise, of all the Lovejoy tracks.

Your New Boyfriend - Wilbur's best comedy song period. Do I think Soft Boy will sound more polished and have stronger vocalsif it's ever released? Yes. YNB definitely has a home recorded vibe, but I still think, even including Soft Boy, YNB will be the most popular and best received of all of Wilbur's comedy songs. The memorable hook, the harmonies and retro pop feel with darkly funny lines are all a mix of magic that would be hard to replicate.

Perfume - It's good. It grew on me. The first time I heard the line about the policeman ex-boyfriend I cackled. The music is different than a lot of Pebble Brain but in all the right ways. It has the vibe while pushing them into trying some new things.

La Jolla - This song stirs a longing in my chest for some place I've never been. It's delicate and hushed in a very effective way.

Maybe I Was Boring - I will admit I'm ranking this high because it's one of my favorite songs for Wilbur to sing live on stream. It's a song begging to be live and while the recorded version definitely needs more polishing, the lyrics are very folky and interesting.

Cornado (Demo) - Including this specifically so I can say WILBUR THIS SONG FUCKING SLAPS THE ISSUE IS YOUR VOCAL. Go rerecord your "wet" sounding vocals when you don't have a fever and I swear it could be near S tier

Since I Saw Vienna - Nostalgia for traveling can make a song hit harder.

B-/C+ Tier (I Love This Song) -

It's All Futile! It's All Pointless! (Lovejoy Version) - The Lovejoy version has the addition of the "It's okay, anything to make me feel less numb" and some tightening of the lyrics that really put it above the original. Barely. It fits as a conclusion to Pebble Brain, but it's a bit too "big" in its arrangement and some of the song gets lost in the mix.

It's All Futile! It's All Pointless! (Wilbur Version) - You can tell this version is from a different place in Wilbur's life. The quieter arrangement is better for a song with so many lyrics, but the Lovejoy one trimmed the fat from the choruses and made a lot of positive changes. Let's be real though, if the YCGMA Anniversary acoustic version of the Lovejoy one was an "official" release, it would beat both released versions and be likely on the A-tier.

Internet Ruined Me - Shows more growth and sense of musicality than E-Girl, still has some funny lines, but doesn't hold a candle to YNB.

Taunt - It's short, like a smack in the face, but has an energy to it that is hard to resist. One of the best choruses.

Losing Face - Some of the live versions are better and showcase the potential of the song. I like the emotion in Wilbur's vocals.

C/C- Tier (I Like This Song But There Are Complaints)

Jubilee Line - This song is so overrated on YCGMA. It's good. It's a good song, but like, it kinda builds and goes nowhere? It's lyrics are bleak but not emotive.

The Fall - I've written essays on this. Simps. All of you.

Knee Deep at ATP - A serviceable cover that doesn't really add anything new to the conversation.

One Day - The horns on One Day are the worst use of horns Lovejoy has done. It's okay to use fake horns, but not when they sound fake.

D Tier (This Song Is Okay)

I'm In Love With An E-Girl - Funny. It's a funny song. The end monologue is a bit more cringe than funny.

Cause for Concern - Real big issues with the production quality. Feels too long and and like it's dragging halfway through the song. Too repetitive.

White Wine In A Weatherspoon - It's forgettable. There are some sparks now and then of something, but it never takes off.

I'm Very Smart - Very 2010's internet comedy song in a /neg way. However, had some hints of some of Wilbur's ability to drop brutal sad moments in the middle of trying to be funny.

F Tier (Nope) -

Good Night - I barely remember this song.

I'm Sorry Boris - Muffled quality. Barely memorable.

For Memories - Cringe wistful white boy music.

Karen Please - Unhinged Bo Burnham knockoff.

YES YES YES! I love how in darius/artem, darius is the older one b/c with the other nxx members, artem is the oldest, so it's an interesting dynamic. Their dynamic in general is SO GOOD I love the few moments we see them interact in the game. (also also insert horny thought here about darius' stubble and artems thighs 🙈)

Oooo looking forward to outsider pov darius fic on the nxx team whenever u get to it 👀 we just need more darius content in this fandom in general in whatever capacity that may be. (Also I hate that my 1st thought when u said that darius looks tired was "yeah I'm sure he definitely has a reason he looks tired all the time *winky face*" AFAHSJSJ- (darius has a secret lover, mayhaps?))

For my marluke question: yes, they're so funny!! I love the way u write them, their banter is always my favorite part of ur fics. Oooo I really like ur point about them being two stubborn people that push each other. It's always interesting to have a dynamic where the characters push each other in productive ways and where they are able to inspire each other to new heights, but they do so in very supportive ways where there's this equal give and take between them, and you see how they grow both together and individually. I love it!

I've been doing well too! just really busy, but I enjoy reading ur blog posts and catching up on ur tot thoughts and analyses whenever I get a break!

irt darius and artem dynamic: their canon interactions are GREAAAT. one i remember very clearly is main story 5.1 (or .2 or .3, not sure) where darius was like "hear that, wing? he wants to sue you. who would you get as your defense attorney, if that happened? that partner of yours---" and then artem is like "Stop." which is SO FUNNY and indicative of the fact that darius is comfy enough to playfully jab at artem like this and that artem seems to be used to it HAHA.

irt horny: ah. your horny thoughts and my horny thoughts shake hands. obsessed, im OBSESSED with artem shivering at the feeling of darius languidly dragging his stubble face across places where artem is most sensitive.

Kate arrived at the restaurant, her mother had picked it up, a very private and small one where they could book a small living room for them at the London outskirts. The Duchess arrived there, parking the car on the car park, spotting her sister's, Eugene's, Camilla's and Sophie’s. Once out of the car, she gave some final touches to her hair, looking at her spotted blue dress. Although it was sunny and she was wearing long sleeves, she grabbed her coat and headed to the entrance where a waiter was already waiting for her.

-Thank you.

The brunette stepped inside, finding everything decorated with balloons and ribbons, as well as some big letters spelling ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY.’. She laughed and all the women turned to her, almost yelling with excitement.

-Catherine, happy birthday my love.-Her mother have her two kisses and a big hug.

-Thank you mom.-Her sister Pippa almost jumped on her, giving her a big and tight hug.

-HAPPY BIRTHDAY SQUEAK!

-Pipps, don't call me that.-She said slightly awkwardly embarrassed. Meghan was the next one. Kate placed a hand on her belly and smiled.

-Tell me about it.-They both laughed.-I've only had two but you have three.-All the women laughed. Once the desserts arrived, Pippa stood up clapping her hands.

-We know you said no gifts but, you know us.-Zara, sitting next to her, took her hand. At that moment Autumn appeared heavily breathing.

-HI! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE!-The blonde gave her a hug and a kiss.-I hope I'm in time for the presents…-She said looking at Pippa.

-We were about to do it. Don't worry, Zara already placed your in the bag.

-Bag?-Kate looked at all the smiling women.

-Yes. We have all of them in a big a bag and you have to guess who are they from.-She took a big black bag from under the table and placed it in front of her. A little shy, put the hand inside and took out the first one.

-God I'm very bad at this.-She started unwrapping the square shaped gift. It was a frame with a picture of Savannah, Isla, Mia, Leña, George and Charlotte all together.

-Autumn? or Zara! I mean!-She laughed at both of them.

The next one was from Meghan, Bluetooth headphones for when she wanted to go running in Kensington. Sophie gave her a beautiful jumper from a designer she really liked a year ago when they both organized the fashion engagement. Beatrice's gift was a weekend in a spa in Wales, a present that went together with Eugene's gift, a white long dressing gown, quite see through, with her own name on it.

-To wear it…when you go alone, with William to the spa.-The youngest York blinked an eye. Kate's cheeks went bright red.

-I remember when I use to wear those.

-Yes, me too…it drove them mad.

All the women looked at Carole and Camilla who were nodding at each other.

-MOM!-Pippa screamed.

-Oh god,we want those stories for the next reunion.-Autumn said and all the women laughed in agreement.

The next present was Pippa's: an album with all their memories together. From when they were little to when they lived together in Chelsea to nowadays. She nearly cried at the memories and couldn't help but to hug her little sister. Zara's was the following one. She gave her a bool she had been talking about for the last months and a little package.

-Oh this… this you should open it at home. Privately. By yourself.-Zara goofed around, a little embarrassed.

-No, open it now!-Beatrice insisted and Sophie clapped next to her, excited.

-But…-

-Oh come on! If it's for us, we've seen everything there is to see.-Camilla shook her head encouraging Kate to open it.

-And we know everything there is to know.-Carole nodded in agreement.

-Okay…-Catherine started unwrapping the little box and Zara looked away at the others. Suddenly, all the women gasped at once.

-Oh my….-Sophie was the first one to talk.

-It that…?-Meghan started asking.

-Yes, yes, yes it is. Yes.-Eugenie nodded. Pippa covered her mouth with a hand.

Once the present was explained as well as put away, Kate knew there were two more people to go: Camilla and her mother. She put the hand inside the bag, expecting to feel two more gifts but she only felt one box. The duchess looked at them both with a question in her head.

-Yes.-Her mother said.-Open it.

Kate's confusion was obvious for all the women while she unwrapped the present. It was a beautiful white box, when she open it she found a gold necklace with three little medallions. The first one had a little C with an acorn on the top, the second one was her own royal monogram and the third one was Camilla's royal monogram. Kate felt like she was about to cry when she looked at the two women in front of her.

-Like I gave you the bracelet with our royal monograms for your wedding. I talked to you mother about making a necklace with our three C's.-Camilla explained.

-Carole, Catherine and Camilla. When Charlotte have a royal monogram we can add hers as well.

Kate couldn't say anything but to stand up and hug them both, thanking them for everything. All the other women looked at the scene with warmth in their hearts.

-Meg, are you going to cry?-Eugenie looked at the american who was holding a tissue.

-It's the hormones.-The duchess of sussex sobbed, wich made all them laugh.

After some more chatting and coffee, they all said goodbye. Kate thank all of them to come as well as for the presents and took her car back to kensington. The kids would be at home and she still had a dinner to prepare, with all her closest family attending, and without a clue of the big surprise William had prepared for her.

so i've known for a long time that i have relatives who were killed during the shoah/by nazis but i've been unable to find any substantial records about my european relatives (which makes sense), and i guess i just never considered my American relatives or had the chance to consider them, because my grandfather lost all contact with his family after his parents' deaths, but last night i found out about my grandfather's cousin for the first time. and now i not only have a name to attach to this history, but also a very detailed account of a family member's murder now, and i've been thinking about it non-stop for almost 24 hours

i had trouble sleeping last night, and when i did, i had horrible nightmares about having my hands bound. i can't stop thinking about his final moments. i can't stop imagining the pain and the anger and the suffering, what the belgian woods must have looked like, whether or not his murderers knew he was jewish, how his mother, my grandfather's aunt, leah, must have felt, during the year in which he was MIA, and in the years that followed. i can't help but wonder if and how he fought back, if he had the chance to spit in his captors' faces, and i can't help but wonder what he looked like, and if he and my grandfather ever met. he was older than most American troops at the time, but 26 is still so young. he had a wife, whose name was gertrude, but no kids. his friends called him jessie, not lester. he received a purple heart, and for what? for being murdered? how did that help this country? the u.s. government insists he died to protect this nation, but he didn't die for you. even if he thought he did, the notion that he had his skull caved in for a nation full of people who hated him, who, to their foundation, would as easily kill off him and anyone like him just as easily as the average citizen of germany, who supported opposition to the slaughter of his people only in convenience, is so utterly sick and laughable. he died fighting the annihilation of his family. he died alone, in agony, and the government threw his wife a medal like a dog toy.
