Shiro blinks a few times, confused. He peeks around himself for a moment before he- unfortunately- makes eye contact with whoever Lance must have been talking about. They smirk confidently, and he meets it with an unsure smile and a small wave. While he doesn’t know them, it would seem rude not to acknowledge them somehow. 

“Maybe they recognize me from somewhere or something.” He dismisses it, almost embarrassed. It’s been a long week and he really isn’t interested in conversation with a stranger- and awkward flirting at that. “I shouldn’t have waved,” He groans, taking a deep breath and stepping in closer to lance, pretending to look at his book. “Do you mind..?” 

They’ve done this a few times now- Shiro catches someone’s eye in public, doesn’t feel up to a conversation, so Lance puts out some boyfriend vibes and they get left alone. It’s a pretty straightforward system, and Shiro thinks it equals out with the amount of lunches he’s bought his friend. 

Plus, no one can prove that he really really doesn’t want to pull away as soon as Lance’s arm wraps around him.
