THANK YOU @mlscottsdale . . My husband @oscars.husband told me about this news, and I am still processing this honor. . The long walks with no car, in a city almost desolate and burnt by the sun when I first got here made me think twice about this metropolitan city. Remember that I came from many years of living in medioeval cities filled with European traditions . . This city was labeled as a “utopia” in all my architecture books, and i thought to myself; -“I am here!”, I was part of the pages, and I thought it was amazing! . I was close to Taliesin and Cosanti and even Arcosanti, wow! You all cannot imagine how many many postcards (email just started at that time) to my friends and family, it was a year of a lifetime! . Because I was distracted trying to absorb it all during the 1 year I budgeted, and because I found a part time job (with potential), and because it took me longer than I expected, and beacuse I wanted to prove myself that I could do it, I decided to stay and this place home. . It was a not an easy decision, but one o am happy I did. It was not because I had a tradition here, or family members, or a network, or I knew locals and had friends. It was because there were opportunities to be participant, create more, make a difference and be present. I never imagined that one day my talents, and my driven passion (that passion that many talk about and the that moves me), were the fuel to take me here. . I am honored beyond words, and I understand that this is a reinforcement of a commitment to continue working with my Valley of the Sun desert dwellers. . Fabulous and so very interesting presentations. @goodfoodaz showed all kinds of cool local legumes and grains, including this Maiz Pozolero (Blue Corn, Hopi Maize), a variety of Flint Maize grown in Mexico and the Southwest. THE ART OF FEARLESSLY GIVING BACK: My muse this week is Heidi Jannenga, President & Co-Founder, WebPT. Heidi Jannenga is truly a leader.  It is evident within moments of speaking to Heidi that she is intuitively conscious. By that I mean, she is mindful of how she and her business affects the greater whole and she feels exceedingly responsible for this awareness.  Heidi is a zealous innovator who has a sense of pride about disrupting her industry for the better. It is evident through her sense of humor and sincere, direct eye contact that she is very cognizant of her own humanness and the humanity in others.  As I walked the halls of WebPT toward the main office; I recognized a familiar drive illustrated in the message of the first poster hanging along the stairs. THE FLOWER BANDID,... When we attend an event and I am able to bring some fresh flowers home, my husband @velvetgaranimal says that I am the “Flower Bandido”. (With permission from the organizers and the florist, of course, who do you think am I?, ugh!) - To me, flowers a pretty present from nature for us to enjoy, with a strong roll in a natural chain called “production and reproduction”,...And they make the space where they are very lovely and pretty, (yes, dudes, pretty is a word a strong testosterone dude can use. Writing or saying pretty won’t make you gay) Anyway ,.. these ones are as pretty as my @careypena - They not only make my Carey and myself look prettier (I know, I know, I know), but make the ambiance unique (this time with decor by @angelicgrove), just like in this picture form last evening’s annual “Society of Chairs” at @azscience event by @frontdoorsmedia. A bouquet like this remind me of some images from my childhood. Today waking up to fresh flowers for breakfast memories flood my mind . My mother used to have fresh flowers at home all the time, and even having a florist to help. To some this might be luxury but to me they are part of my memories, and part of that natural element that bring joy to a home.
