Ayla has lost count of how many seasons have passed since her adventure but she remembers her dear friends clearly. She keeps the memories alive by telling the tribe their stories. Everyone knows the tales of her children’s namesakes.

She also tells the tale of Glenn’s friend Cyrus, a warning to her tribe of just what can happen when you let your anger and the spirits consume you. There is sorrow in her voice as she tells the tale time and time again, the burden of what happened still weighing on her heart. She once confided to Kino that she always wondered what could have been

Life may be hard for Ioka, but the tribe survives thanks to their wise elder, Ayla.

Taking a literal cavewoman along to an adventure through time must be very confusing for her. I imagine Ayla to make this sort of face when she sees anything more complex than a wooden club. Happy 29th anniversary to Chrono Trigger!

Akira Toriyama had a big impact on my life. DBZ got me into anime before I even knew what anime was. The shared interest in DBZ helped foster a friendship with one of my lifelong friends as we spent hours trying to download all of the episodes from IRC back in the day (first in RealPlayer format, then DivX)

Arguably my first real effort at drawing was copying Toriyama's art from the Chrono Trigger instruction manual (which I still have today). Technically my first digital art was also copying Chrono Trigger.
