hi there. 

time for queenie’s two cents on tonight. i am older than a lot of you, i’ve been here for a lot longer than a lot of you, and i definitely have seen this before. 

first of all. i am a white woman, so my opinion absolutely does not speak over any poc point of view from tonight. just putting that out there for now. i am however a queer woman, one of my closest friends is trans and my ex partner is trans. this does not mean i have the absolute authority over trans issues, but it’s just a little on my background. 

the behaviour from certain ang*ls fans tonight and in the past is inexcusable. no matter what their age is. yes, there are certain things that come with age and growing up and one of those things is yes pulling your head out of your behind and realising that it is absolutely inexcusable to be racist/xenophobic and transphobic. i am linking to gracie ‘s post and emma’s post for background on this. 

your age does not excuse your behaviour. we live in a very multicultural world with lots of different backgrounds, it is no longer the world where poc and lgbt people are pushed under the rug. like meghan said, she was in 4th grade (10 years old i believe?) when she experienced a racist comment said to her (see post linked for more details). by the ages of 13-16 you 100% are able to understand that these comments are not okay. people of colour are real, their experiences are valid, the racism that they experience is unfortunate, and we need to check our privilege and call out those who are xenophobic. 

you would never and should never say this to someone’s face, try to deny their existence or speak over someone in real life, what you say and do online is the same. it is not as though you have stuck your head into the sand and this is the first time you’ve come across this. denying education and furthering bigotry is disgusting, and it’s time to stop pushing transphobia to the side and realising the problem that is in this fandom. trans people are real, their experiences are valid and they do not need to have a space where, they really should feel safe, be filled with bigotry. 

okay that’s enough from me for now. i would like to encourage everyone to support tonight’s poc selfie night, and also to remember that taylor would be ashamed of this bigotry and direct you to this post from kristin and this post from raquel. 

and also congratulations to ayeesha, you deserve all the love in the world and i am so glad you get to go back to college with no added stressors.
