@avaere asked :
" interesting sword . "
walking up to dehya in a moment of peace from debates and preparations , ayato took his chance to inspect the woman who lingered in the room . the elders of this family was boring, not at all interesting, merely something ayato had to go through. there were so many other things he ached to do; see sumeru, taste the local food ... test the strength of the locals.
placing himself in front of her, ayato stood taller than her, blue eyes gazing down on her as a warm smile began forming on thin lips. intrigued, to say the least, he wasn't quite ready to let go of this woman.
" i assume you would be more than willing to hold it up against my person if i proved to be bothersome ? ... but , are you skilled with it ? it is quite the big blade. "

─「ديهيا」─  the meeting and politics had never been a subject of interest for the MERCENARY despite how many times she had been employed to protect these well-known family members and wealthy diplomats. most of the time, she was paid to guard something of value, be it their treasures, the relics, or the heirs and heiresses to the family itself. after all, treasures weren't always items or gold, and she had little to no qualm in becoming a BODYGUARD should the situation called for it. as long as the compensation was worth it, and the nature of the work didn't go against her own core values, then the contract is sealed.
                however, ever since she had met this person, things had taken a rather interesting turn, though on the surface, the mercenary herself didn't let anything slip past cautious gaze sparing towards the person.
                kamisato ayato. a diplomat from inazuma, they called him.
                her eyes had been following him the moment he entered the room. a person who carried a certain charm that drew people's attention towards him, but the reason that her line of vision had been trained on him wasn't due to ANY of that charm he possessed. it was something else entirely, something even the flame-mane cannot put her finger on.
                he must be used to this kind of meetings, this kind of relationships. the smile on his lips was on cue, as if he had been trained to offer the polite gestures and respectful smile to the figures he was exchanging words with. with all the smiles he offered others, none ever reached his eyes, she noted. not that these wealthy families would take notice of that, either. dehya had her arms crossed, back leaned against the wall to the FURTHEST CORNER of the room. keeping guard, and observing them.
                no wasted movements, another thing to note with his demeanor. soothing voice, polite manners, clothes that were weaved from finest silk yet not revealing anything to the eyes, barely any patches of skin. a cautious person, yet each step he took was of confidence, as though he owned the very room he walked upon. back straight, head held high, a posture of true leader but one couldn't ignore how precise his movements were. gloved digits, and a family crest worn PROUDLY. those diplomats probably thought him to be a young lord, but she could tell; those eyes, that smile —
                — that's the look of someone who's willing to do anything to ensure his loved ones' safety. someone who's willing to taint his hands so the ones he's protecting would keep theirs clean.
                his COMMENT regarding her trusted weapon came as quite a surprise, and light blue hues lifted to meet his own azure ones. she had not moved an inch from where she was, only allowing her head to cant upwards and lips pulled into a subtle grin at his sentences.

                " you're making it sound like you want me to use it against you. wouldn't peg you as someone who likes being pinned down. " a playful jab with a knowing smile to match, before she shifted her weight from one leg to the other, allowing her frame to face him proper. gaze of ice studied him most carefully. it wasn't often that they would be standing in close proximity of one another, yet, there was something about this man that tugged at her. she couldn't give a proper explanation despite having tried. a tilt of head, and a thoughtful hum escaped her.
                " you seem like a skilled fighter yourself. one might not be able to tell with the outfit you have on, but i know a skilled fighter when i see one. " perhaps, that word wouldn't be something one would use to describe him, of all people. but she was a survivor, a desert-dweller, she knew the eyes of those who were willing to sacrifice himself for his goal. or in his case, to prevail in a dog-eat-dog world.
                " why don't you test it yourself after this ? " her gaze narrowed slightly, like a promise, and a challenge. " let me bear witness to the skills you honed over the years. if you win, you're free to ask anything of me, as long as it is within my power. however, if i win — "
                " — you'd give me a real smile, not the one you've perfected. deal ? "
