Snow (albino + axanthic)
Astarion has grown a lot since I got him! He's still just a tiny sassy baby though. But this morning, after his usual tantrum of hiss-and-lunge posturing was done, he let me scoop him up without complaint and was a dream to handle. We're breaking through!

I’m curious about what you guys think! Remember, many of these have partial forms, so are not always a solid black or white animal.
#color mutation#leucism#melanism#erythrism#albinism#piebald#xanthic#axanthic#dilution#abundism#I thiiiink some diluted wild animals fall more under leucism#but so do piebalds and I keep those separate#I think I’m missing something and it’s bugging me

Boba was very brave! He came out to have a look at what happened to his water even though I was still sat in front of his enclosure. What a good boy!
[ID: Two pictures of Boba the black and brown ball python. In the first he's directly facing the camera with his head poking out from his hide. In the second he has his head over the water bowl and he's flicking his tongue]

Axanthic
@snugglesquiggle
#hognose#axanthic#god the amount of stories i have about sollux's eating habits#he once ate his mouse sideways while sitting in his water dish#most recently it was sideways. after striking at the tongs and making me drop his food three times. and nearly falling out of his cage#enthusiasm? 10/10. brain cells? none whatsoever

Snow (albino + axanthic) conda
This is Sakura's castle.
Sometimes she likes to sit on the top, or blelele out the window or doorway.
Today she has chosen to be the dragon in her own dungeon, where she can lurk and peek out at the world from the abyss.
Oh!! The dragon emerges!
And it's breathing fire! Aaahhh!!!
#hognose#snow#albino#axanthic#conda#at least i think its a conda. could be a superconda but i think its just a very very low expression conda#correct me if im wrong tho#also i love silly hides like this. my boy has a couple of skull ones in his tank. they do nothing to make him any more scary hes too cute

feel like i straight up forgot how to draw him why's he look so strange. Who is this
#the light blue section is faintly labeled with “frog with axanthism” because that was my friend's suggestion#There was a rare turquoise bullfrog found in may 2020#this picture may end up having a lot of frogs in it i'm not sure. i'm not sure how many frogs.#mypost

Good news i have figured out what to put for blue in the thing. Because i realized what i was previously quantifying as cyan was definitely way more blue than i recalled so i have to move things around which is annoying
#but i had 2 things in cyan before actually so i can work with this i think maybe...#one of the things in cyan was just a frog my friend sent me an article about...#google ''axanthic bullfrog'' and you may see him...#so maybe i just have to make the frog way more prominent#mypost

I really love this theme with Pokemon and conditions/mutations!❤️❤️❤️
Just been thinking about Pokemon, various pigmentation conditions/mutations, and the possibilities combining the two could create.

A compendium of pigment mutations present in phonies (and palindromes), shown on a generic green phony.
Dilution factor genes - Genes that raise or lower all pigment types at once.
Default - The default state for an individual. Dilution and concentration are located on the same gene, and the "regular" color is made when the gene is heterozygous.
Diluted - Homozygous recessive dilution creates a phony with less of all kinds of pigments.
Concentrated - Homozygous dominant dilution creates a phony with more of all pigments.
Pointed - A mutation that causes concentration just on the extremities.
Black Factors - Genes that amp up melanophore production.
Melanism and Abundism - Two phenotypes controlled by an incompletely dominant gene. When it's homozygous, the individual is all black. When it's heterozygous, it only affects some markings.
Inkblot - A mutation that causes irregular patches of hyperpigmentation.
White Factors - Genes that remove all pigments.
Albinism - You know the drill.
Leucism - Similar to albinism, but not to its full extent. Leucistic individuals are also spared of the vision problems many albinistic individuals have.
Piebaldism - Causes irregular patches of absent pigmentation.
Roan - Causes absent pigmentation on the core of the body. When this mutation is homozygous, it causes health issues.
Single Color Factors - Genes that affect one or two other types of chromatophores.
Xanthism - Causes excess xanthophores and absent iridophores.
Axanthism - Does the exact opposite of that.
Erythrism - Causes excess erythrophores.
Iridism - Causes excess iridophores. Also makes the eyes look neat.
Others
Prismatic - Causes the chromatophores on certain markings to become confused and show up in widely variable amounts.
Nebulous - Causes diffusion and freckling markings, if both are present, to only display as a mask on certain patterns.
Clear body - Self explanatory.
One of the joys of breeding games is introducing mutations like these!

Hi! I just saw your response to keeping peafowl, and was wondering if you could elaborate on the chocolate color being unethical? I'm guessing it has something to do with bad breeding?
Charcoal! Charcoal is an unethical color morph because the hens are sterile and both sexes traditionally tend to live shorter lives- 7-9 years instead of 20+. There are some birds that live longer, but the sterility is linked to whatever gene causes the color alteration. Charcoal birds are likely hypermelanistic or axanthic birds, almost completely black, and so the morph has not been allowed to die off despite the complications. Most people tend to avoid them, though, so they're fairly uncommon. A better choice if you want a dark bird is a midnight blackshoulder, a buford bronze BS, or even a Sonja's violeta BS.
The other unethical "morph" isn't a morph at all; many years ago a bronze bird was produced who had white spots. As he aged, the white spread. The people who didn't know what it was called it "progressive pied" and attempted to reproduce it, not knowing that they were passing on an autoimmune disease that causes vitiligo. In peafowl, this causes pigment cell death, but whatever the culprit is also suppresses immune response and causes blindness. These birds RAPIDLY decline in health after a few years, and are usually euthanized. Unfortunately, because it was and still IS sometimes touted as a pattern morph, it is still being bred in some places, and can randomly pop up in lines connected back to that original bronze. Bronze, purple, and hazel/indigo are common carriers depending on where the birds are located.
