Our highly-acclaimed public speaking workshop, “Speak Up and Speak Out: The Art of Public Speaking,” received extraordinary ratings raving about the practicality of the workshop, as well as how interactive it was - both with Robyn and other attendees. Similar to past years, many wished that they had more time! Participants all left feeling that the skills they learned with enable them to communicate and speak better in public. Robyn Hatcher, Owner of SpeakEtc., led a dynamic and interactive session with group exercises which encouraged everyone to practice their newly-learned skills and provide constructive feedback. Attendees asked many questions and shared their public speaking goals. Among the questions which were discussed included how to use your voice to overcome the biases that assertive women face in the workplace - such as being called "aggressive" for speaking up; what is the best “power color," other than red; what is the appropriate dress on stage where you are the only woman with a group of men, the latter of which Robyn explained depends on what makes YOU feel confident and strong; and how to project your voice when you have a naturally high pitch.
As the evening came to an end, everyone left excited to utilize all that they had learned, whether it be in their next panel discussion, public speech, or every day conversation.
AWIB thanks IESE for hosting us at their facility and Robyn Hatcher for sharing her brilliant expertise with everyone!

Regina laughed, patting Emma on the head. “ What a smart baby” she said. Picking up the Minnie Mouse plush, she did just that: pretending to check it like she had checked Emma’s diaper. “ Oooh! You’re right! What should we do?”
Emma smiled when her nan patted her and called her smart. "Yeah, I da smaweth baby awibe," Emma agreed saying that she was the smartest baby alive "Thange hew nana," Emma giggled saying that they should change her little toy. "I do it nana?" she asked her grandmother although she wasn't sure how to change a diaper.

Wednesday, February 21, 2018 GYBO Livestream: Open for Business
Held in partnership with Google’s Get Your Business Online (GYBO) program, AWIB hosted another Livestream workshop at our office. Attendees heard from the Small Business Administration, Square, Google, Facebook, and Constant Contact and learned how to optimize their businesses for the increasingly digital population of shoppers. In an age where 40% of online transactions are conducted through a mobile platform, the small business owners in attendance eagerly noted down the strategic approaches offered by the digital experts. Upon conclusion of the livestream, attendees discussed all that they had learned, and how they plan to incorporate these lessons in their respective business models moving forward.
We thank Google, the Small Business Administration, Facebook, Constant Contact, and Square for the illuminating livestream.
Please see the event invitation and photos.

“You don’t undewstand! When Hikari was awibe, Hikari nebew had a mommy ow daddy! Hikari nebew had a famiwy! Hikari not wike odew kids! Hikari came fwom a staw in space!” She never had a family when she was alive. She wasn’t born like other kids. She came to earth from a star. She sniffled and continued to cry.
Hikari looked up at Angel and felt a little nervous about saying hi to him. He looked really tall and she was very small. She took in a deep breath and went up to him. “K-konnichinya! H-hikari name hikari, nya! Yo-yoro-!” Before she could finish, she tripped and fell flat on her face in front of him. “NYA!”
"Say what," he replied flatly.

“Y-youwe da cawtoon fwom da postew! But....how awe you awibe?” She was very confused.
Hikari was hiding from the rain and was in an abandoned cartoon studio. She was scared, but felt curious as she looked around the studio. (For bendy)
It was dark and old as if it’s haven’t been use in years. The only lights that are on are the glowing light of the projectors showing Bendy’s old cartoon. She would hear a can hitting and rolling across the floor and a small demon chases after it and he grabs the can and looks up to spot Hikari. “Eh, kid. You know it’s not safe to play here.” he said.
